Loss sense of purpose

Chapter seven

Leroy Jethro Gibbs was angry with his wife. However, in his case, the stress was causing havoc with his spine and the rest of his body. He tried to catch his breath as Marcie came over to check on whether he's fine or not.

"Are you okay?" she had to ask with concern as his wife and soulmate. Even though of late things haven't been all that great between the both of them as husband and wife.

"Why should you care Marcie?" he lashed out at her with his anger and other emotions.

"How dare you? I just can't believe during the past four years I have been standing by you with each and every injury. And now you're pushing me away this time?" she cries out with her emotions.

"Damn straight Marcie! You've been thinking of leaving in the first place. So now you have that chance to do it with my latest spine injury. I really don't think the doctors were telling me the truth with using the Cell Regeneration Program will work as well."

"So you're going to free me in order to live my life? Because if you're saying this to me, Jethro, I won't allow you have any rights to see them at all. Even if you try going to talk with the judge?" she exclaimed with getting up from the chair.

"Yes," he said with sincere sadness in his demeanor.

She walked out of Sickbay to have the escort bring her back to the deck and await a flight back to the home port to pack and leave. She will call her sister Elizabeth explaining the entire situation to her and David about leaving the boys there. While she moves to Arizona to stay with the Tombstone safe house for a month until she finds that it's safe enough to move back with her sister and husband.

She had no choice having set this up with leaving her husband for good and filing for divorce with her lawyer Robert Ellison in Washington, D.C.

Elizabeth's home on the outskirts of Alexandria

It's been two weeks now since Marcie had left. Her deposition had been really down in the dumps and her sister Elizabeth had asked her whether she should speak with a therapist outside of NCIS in order to help her get out of her funk.

"I said no Elizabeth for the third time." they were sitting outside in the back yard with David home putting together a barbecue with steaks, hotdogs, corn on the corn, and hamburgers with the temperature somewhat nice for a change.

"By the way, Marcie have you heard about Special Agent Gibbs condition?" Elizabeth just had to ask the question.

"I spoke with Leon the other day telling me that he's been released from Bethesda hospital after transferring of the carrier U.S.S. Horatio. He's home with a visiting nurse to keep an eye out for a few weeks until he's able to head back to work."

"And what about the divorce?" Elizabeth was watching her body language.

"In full progress, Elizabeth and I can't wait for it to taking effect and signed by the judge along with an alimony for myself and the two boys."

"I just can't believe this for god sake. I really had thought that you truly did love Leroy Jethro Gibbs?" she cries out with David looking over with an expression she knew really well.

"I did at one time Elizabeth. Until Jethro ruined it with his obsession with the Cartel and his work with NCIS. His family never was important to him so it was the right time to leave."

"I am truly sorry to hear this Marcie. I just hope to God that you're able to get back to work at your old job at the EverGreen safe house?" Elizabeth had to ask the question.

"I have been working on it Elizbeth. I should be hearing from the doctor soon.

One month later

Special Agent Gibbs had been asked to talk with Doctor Grace Confalone in order to come back to work at NICS with Leon Vance deciding.

Walking into her office of the hospital. He was walking without a problem even though every once in a while he will lose his balance. Moving inside to speak with her secretary letting her know that Gibbs has arrived.

"Special Agent Gibbs, you can go right in for your session." the young woman had to say until she had received a phone call from a patient needing to schedule an appointment.

She gets up from her chair to hand Gibbs a bottle of water for the session.

"Thanks." he sits down with his body language was slightly off with him.

"So tell me Popeye how are you feeling these days with your health?" she had to start with the question that could go either way.

"Much better thank you since being released from the hospital. Even though I have a daily watch by the visiting nurse service to make sure I am going to be fine," he says with a deep breath.

"You do know that Director Leon Vance wants to make sure you're going to be up to the task of doing your job as supervisory field team agent?" she exclaimed with making a note onto the yellow pad in green ink.

"I am ready to work again along with keeping my mind on the job full-time doc. Besides the projects in the basement that needs to be finished." he cries out with the response.

"That's good to hear Gibbs. But what Marcie?" she said to him with knowing that the divorce was officials with Vance telling her over the phone.
