The Punishment of a Traitor
Roan wasn't sure how long he'd been swinging the whip. All he knew was that he saw nothing but red and blood. He was filled with so much raw anger as he walked around Bathar to face him and his almost unconscious form.
"All… All for a girl… For a girl… Your own... Brother." Bathar rasped with full exhaustion. He couldn't help but flinch as he watched Roan raise his arm to swing the whip to his front.
"Not a girl… My betrothed… My Wife and the next Queen of Azgeda." Roan whispered, his words sounded heavy and loud to his own ears, even to Bathar his words were loud, to everyone else they were soft and filled with raging anger that was untamable.
She could hear the whip swinging, making contact, she'd counted with each painful grunt from the man being whipped. Each arrogant comment Bathar had given Roan as he whipped his own brother, when the arrogance turned to silence, likely him trying to keep from making any painful noises of the sort, Trinity had counted those as well. Each connection Roan made with the whip and his brother, ripped a wound in her own heart. As soon as Clarke and Octavia had finished caring for her back, wrapping the wounds with past and gauze and medical wrap they'd stripped the ruined dress from her and redressed her.
Aden had walked out after they'd finished their work on her damaged back, left to give them privacy to undress and then redress the harmed woman. As he walked out, he watched Roan whipping his brother. They'd face Bathar towards the ship, for him to see why he was being punished so siverly. But this felt like an execution done in the depths of hells. But he was meant to understand why he would die by his brother's hand, if he were to die here that was. Looking to Indra, Aden saw the rage in the woman's burning brown eyes. The unshed tears she so deeply wanted to cry for her tortured daughter. The look upon one of his Chieftains angered Aden so much he wanted his own go at the bastard. But unless Roan did not stop, then none of them would get their turn at him.
Octavia had come back with a dark purple dyed wrap around cotton made dress, the back open and tied around her neck so to keep her back from having anything else touching her wrapped back unnecessarily. Once she was dressed, Octavia hugged the girl with tears rolling down her cheek and pressed a kiss to her temple. "You're okay Trini."
Her cries were silent as she held onto Octavia, until the whips reached her ears once more, the silence of them terrified her. Releasing Octavia, Trinity lifted herself to her feet and stumbled to the dropship's doors.
Their heart filled with concern and fear as they watched. Octavia and Clarke share a look before rushing to her side, catching her before she fell.
"What are you doing?" Clarke questioned, as she and Octavia eased the blonde to the slightly chilled metal floors.
"Have to stop him." Trinity said simply, weak of breath and it didn't help that she was dazed and seeing double. "Help me up, please. He'll kill him. Clarke, please." Trinity begged her friend. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at her friend.
Clarke sighed as she looked into Trinity's dark green eyes. While Clarke wanted the blood of the bastard that had done this herself, she knew Trinity was a kind soul deep down, kinder than she was. Or at least kinder than she could be. Taking in a breath, Clarke nodded and looked to Octavia, "Octavia, help us."
Her body trembled with fright, one last tears slipping over her eye and down her cheek as she rushed over with doubts, helping Clarke aid Trinity back up onto her feet. "Clarke, you know the second she gets to that door she has to walk out there on her own. She can't-"
"Yes, she will. Now help her up." Clarke scolded Octavia.
Swallowing her fear, Octavia nodded and helped Trinity to her feet along with Clarke. She could see the fear in Clarke as they made their way to the drop ships doors. It killed them both to let go of her, making her walk down the ramp all alone killed the two women. But Octavia hadn't been alone when she and Clarke and left an encouraging kiss to Trinity's temples before letting her slip from their arms.
Fighting the pain that burned her raw back as she moved, Trinity stumbled down the ramp, catching herself every time she made her way towards Roan as he whipped his brother ruthlessly. Aden had moved to catch her himself with worry as she stumbled but had stepped back when she'd caught herself. Her heart hammering with dread with the way he stalked around Bathar to look him in the eyes before raising his arm to strike him once more. A swing of the whip to Bathar's front could no doubt kill the man.
A surge of strength shot through her as she moved for Roan's back, "Roan, no!" Her arms wrapped around him as her small body slammed into his back. Her breath nearly hyperventilating from the pain ripping through her back, the fear of him killing his own brother. "Please, don't do it." she softly begged him. She could feel herself trembling, not just from the pain in her body, but fearful he'd slaughter his brother like he was a mere animal because of her. Her injuries were the only reason he was doing this, otherwise he would have simply had him arrested. Bathar would have simply been arrested for simply insulting the King when Bathar came clean of this marriage proposal being a set up. Though Trinity had no idea what he had meant by that part. However, he had also humiliated his older brother by using Azgeda warriors as well as the symbol against Roan's Allies.
His arm froze in mid-air, he'd been about to lash Bathar across the front when a small body slammed into his back, small arms and tiny hands wrapping around him, the small pads of the persons hands gripping at his chest and stomach. He could feel the panting breath from her lips against his burning skin at his spin, the trembling of her body against his back and bare skin of his chest and back. Glaring to the man strung up before him, Roan's jaw clenched with anger as he glared at Bathar smirk to him with hatred at the sudden relief. The smirk that his little brother grew at Roan being stopped had his anger returning ten-fold. Raising his arm once more to swing he heard the soft cry from her, begging him to stop. Sighing with aggravation, Roan lowered his arm, his grip around the whip tightening as he took hold of Trinity's hand at his chest and glanced over his shoulder a bit. "Indra, upon the Commander's orders, he is under arrest. And for his attack upon your daughter, Bathar of Azgeda's life is yours to claim." Roan said, dropping the whip to the ground. The thud was loud and angry as he eased Trinity around him, looking her up and down. Seeing she had been medically taken care of he looked to the drop ship and watched Clarke and Octavia walking to them with Aden leading their steps. Glancing to Bellamy and the rest of the Skaikru, he nodded to them before he looked down to the still trembling woman before him.
Resting his lips to her ear, Roan spoke softly to her, "Stop shaking, you're alright." He told her. But the sudden shake of her head, her small hand being pressed against her lips to keep any possibly noise locked in had him in an understanding. Rubbing her arms gently Roan sighed and looked to Aden who nodded in understanding and ordered them all to return to Arkadia. Roan nodded his thanks to Octavia when she handed him his shirt before following Clarke and her brother from the Drop Ship and Aden approached them.
With his blue eyes on the woman's head sadly the young man, he grabbed Roan's arm in a silent brothers in arms manner, one which Roan returned, placing his hand to Aden's shoulder. The two nodded and Aden left with the others.
Watching them leave the clearing Roan wrapped his arms around her trembling body and held her to him, "You can cry now."
And cry she did.
Each gasp of her cried pain and the fear she'd had to of felt ripped through him painfully as he held her. Running a hand through her hair, Roan was unaware that the action was soothing to both her and himself. Hearing her sniffing back the reaming of her tears, her body no longer trembled. Roan rubbed her arms seeing she was finished after a few minutes of them standing there. "Come, let's get you home."
Bellamy looked at a worried Clarke, "How bad was she Clarke?" He whispered to her.
Shaking her head, Clarke looked to Octavia before looking back to Bellamy, "Pretty bad." She answered weakly. They had waited for minutes before Roan walked down the path towards them. They were not stunned by him helping Trinity as they went before lifting her up and onto a horse Indra had brought.
Watching him grab the reins of the horse, Trinity looked around at his people's confusion as well as Indra's shocked expression, even her own people were left speechless. Feeling a bit worried she looked at him with some worry, "Um, Roan -"
"You need it more than I do. Don't worry." He told her with a smirk and a wink as they made their way back to Arkadia.
Their arrival wasn't until late at night, the gates were opened for them all with the Arakdian people rushing to them to make sure they were alright, and as Roan helped Trinity from the large horse had many eyes on them as everyone entered the main building. It was late and many of their nerves were shot as it was. After those needed for the meeting were notified a second meeting was required, they met in the large room they'd met in before.
"Okay, so what's happened? What happens now?" Kane asked, sipping a cup of hot coffee to avoid his yawning.
"Bathar was a fool and ambushed Trinity and myself after we were pulled down stream by the river. He whipped her. She was trying to distract him from killing me, or us both for a time. Thankfully, the Commander and Bellamy showed up with the others before he got bored with having her whipped. I could do nothing. She continued to provoke Bathar." He told them.
Kane couldn't help but almost choke on his hot coffee, he was relieved when Monty rushed and patted the man on his back to help relieve the pressure build up and hot pain in his throat as he coughed. Clearing his throat, Kane waved the young man off and thanked him softly, "Is she alright?" Kane asked through the pained look from the hot coffee, "And, if it isn't to bold to ask, what will happen with our arrangement?" He asked.
Studying the man, Roan almost laughed at the man. He thought he'd terminate the arranged marriage, for what reason Rona wasn't sure. But Roan had no intentions of backing out of the arranged marriage. Looking to his folded hands for a moment he looked around the room. Trinity had been taken to the Hospital wing for further aid. Glancing to Clarke, Roan nodded, "She is to arrive in Azgeda for the wedding in four days. The wedding will happen. And then an execution." He stated.
