Chapter 7

It took what felt like hours, for Roxas to accept what was in front of him, he almost expected this to be a bad dream, from which he would soon wake up from, after which he would go find his two companions, receive a mission from Ienzo, destroy some heartless, then go to the clock tower, to eat their favourite snack, sea salt ice cream.

But no matter how much times he opened his eyes expecting to see the wooden ceiling of his comfortable house, the cold truth was right in front of him, his best friend ever since he was a mindless zombie, in the Organization, was dead in front of the same tower they had enjoyed so many moments of respite on. Mere months after he had just reunited with him. He immediately tried reassuring himself. "No…..He can't be gone for good, this has happened before, we can find a way to bring him back…."

He was interrupted from his inner monologue by a hard slap to the head." reflexively he swung his keyblade, wanting to obliterate whatever foolishly had made an attempt on his life, he was disappointed however to see the looming form of the scientist that had created the instrument of his misery, and as he looked into the dark unfeeling void that seemed to be IV's face, he felt a new emotion rise to the surface, rage. He wrenched his blade out of IV's grasp. "This is your fault." IV sighed. "You can mourn later, right now we need to…" "SHUT UP!" Roxas yelled. He charged at the mutant plant, madly swinging his keyblade, hoping to see his infernal beast banished to oblivion. The thing was tough, as was intended, no matter how hard Roxas tried, the best simply would not die. But he would succeed, and when he did he would destroy the monster that took his best friend away from him a second time.

Cloud clung to the back of the self proclaimed "Ruler of the Sky". He groaned frustrated with himself. He should've seen it's attack from a mile away, but here he was, desperately trying not to fall to the serene town below.

Despite the chaos of the battle, it occurred to him what a nice view this was, in fact he wouldn't mind taking Aerith to the clock tower, and grabbing some ice cream once this was over. That unfortunately would have to wait. He swung his sword upon the beast's foul back, it barely made it flinch. But it did succeed in nearly depositing Cloud off this rollercoaster of doom. Cloud hoisted himself on the feathered fiends back, he had an idea.

He reached into his pouch, and pulled out a rather large orange crystal. "Never thought I'd get the chance to use these." He muttered to himself.

They had started to face the battle that was taking place down below. He could make out Roxas and IV doing their best to bring down the botanic behemoth below him, a few feet beside them, he saw Axel lying on the ground below, it looked like he was knocked out, and on the clock tower, he saw Xant battling some sort of mechanical creature that he had never seen before. It took him a moment to realize that there was no sign of Xion, could she be….. No, he can't think about that now, what he was about to do required precise timing, he took a deep breath. "Cowubunga!" He shouted as he ran down the sky kings back, leaping off its hooked beak, plummeting towards the leechgrave the radiant crystal beaming in his hand, the Antagonistic Avion, swquaked his anger as it witnessed its prey escape. Cloud waited until he had almost hit the ground, then he dropped the crystal and shouted "Get Away! Aerogara!" The crystal exploded as it hit the ground easily wiping out the two foes. Cloud used the momentum from the explosion to send his flying towards the tower.

What happened next was a blur. The Metallic Monstrosity had Xant at swordpoint, ready to strike the killing blow. An unattached pale ghostly white hand with a hole in its center, fired a blast of some sort of dark matter into the back of the machine's chest. Cloud felt his sword being grabbed, and the last thing he saw was a gloved fist smashing into his face, then his world became darkness.
