Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the thief and the girl who walked on fire. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth do.

Cye blocked one of Cinder's strikes before kicking her backwards. He moved forward while flipping Nightingale to his other hand.

"You've got some training, but you're fighting too aggressively." Cye said as he leapt at Cinder who sidestepped and stabbed at his flank. "These are people. They aren't going to fight like Grimm… And you can't treat them like they." Cye said while lowering his tone of voice.

He knew for a fact Cinder was being conflicted about their mission. Her amber eyes darted around the room with a quickness which would put a Lancer to shame.

"Their kill us." Cinder stated as she swung one of her swords towards Cye who flicked his wrist. "Unless we kill them first…." Cinder said as Cye shook his head.

Sparks flew from their weapons as the blade was deflected to the side.

"Don't do that… You don't want to kill." Cye said as he looked at Cinder who was rushing him again. "They aren't Grimm, their people who are just doing their jobs…. I'm not killing guards just because they're in the way." Cye added while he turned to look to the side.

Cye clicked his fingers together as he slid under a stab at his chest. He dug his fingers into the cold ground while kicking Cinder to the ground.

"You've been trained before by someone…" Cye stated as he hummed and leaned on his sword. "Were they a… Good person?" Cye questioned as he turned to look to the side.

He watched Cinder's eyes narrow and expand in equal measure. The bags under her eyes still hadn't vanished… And her sunken cheeks showed him that she had been through a worser hell then most did.

"He…" Cinder started to say as her hands started to tremble.

"Cinder…" Cye said and planted his blade in the ground. "Cin, look at me…" Cye said as he walked closer.

"DON'T…" Cinder said and pointed one of her swords at Cye. Cye watched her hands tremble as she did so.

Cye walked closer as Cinder fell to her knees. She looked at Cye who bent down to her level.

"Cin, I'm not judging. You've been through hell, haven't you?" Cye asked as Cinder simply nodded. "Was he a good person…? I'm not going to let you bottle this up. It HURTS, it's ok to hurt inside… You aren't living if you don't hurt." Cye stated as he looked at her.

Cinder let a tear drop to the ground, Cye sighed and pondered what to do. He didn't want her to think he was hurting her.

But he saw the hurt in her eyes. Someone hurt her… He didn't know about her pain, but he did know pain in its entirety.

"He wanted me to be a Huntsmen. He was supposed to take away from there." Cinder said as she started to slide down to the floor. "They treated me like a slave. He said I wouldn't have to worry about them…." Cinder said as she turned to the side.

Cye slowly slid down the wall to the side. He looked at Cinder once more.

"We're going to leave… But we aren't going to be the people they think we are before then." Cye said as he stood up and offered the young girl his hand.

Cinder hesitantly took it as Cye turned and grabbed Nightingale before turning. He spun his sword once more.

"You good?" Cye questioned as he straightened up slightly. Cinder nodded as Cye hummed before planting the sword on his hip. "Then we get to training. Your good at sword fighting, how about we try hand to hand? Swords should be kept for a last resort anyway. We're going to try and sneak past the guards anyway." Cye stated as he took a fighting stance.

Cinder hummed before looking at her own swords… Rhode's swords. Cinder had been given another chance by Rhodes.

And now Cye was offering her a way out? She'd be damned if she didn't take it.

"Until one of our auras breaks?" Cinder questioned as Cye hummed.

"No, we need our auras to be able to survive if we get into a fight." Cye said before cracking his fingers. "Tell me when your ready to call it a day… And if you have anything you want to do? Tomorrow is the time to do it. We're sneaking into SDC territory tomorrow night. Call the fight when your ready." Cye said as he eased into a fighting stance.

Cinder nodded and planted her swords on the ground. Cye hummed as he threw a kick towards her head. Cye was countered by Cinder's arm as she pushed him backwards. Cye hummed and stopped his slide with his claws.

He looked up only to see Cinder launch into a leaping kick at his head. He ducked as Cinder flew over his head and landed in a crouch.

"Not bad." Cye said as Cinder frowned. "I mean it. Your doing well for someone who isn't a huntress." Cye said as while climbing to his feet as he turned and rushed Cinder.

Cye retracted his claws and threw a punch which Cinder blocked. He pivoted and aimed his elbow at her head while flicking his tail towards her.

Cinder blinked and was sent stumbling back by the force of the hit. Cye hummed and shook his head.

"That was ok." Cye said as he brushed off his arms. "But you need to pick out the details. If that distraction was something else? It could have skewered you…. Did that hurt too much?" Cye questioned as he mentally sighed.

He knew for a fact that Cinder was still suffering. He didn't want to push her and have something break. Whoever was her caretaker had beaten the poor girl down to nothing. Her self-worth was almost garbage.

Still? He was greeted by her nodding. Cye hummed and kept his fists open. He didn't want Cinder to revisit bad memoires.

"Continue." Cye stated as he continued to lunge forward. Cinder went for a high kick which Cye dodged and then tried to launch an open palm which Cinder caught.

Cye hummed and dragged himself backwards, Cinder dug her feet into the ground. Cye smirked and looked at his new partner and friend.

"Good, that was much better. Never let someone get you off balance." Cye said as he used his other arm to pry hers away.

Cinder watched as Cye crouched before lunging again at her. She brought up her arms, ready to counter it.

Cye smirked, they'd get along fine the more he thought about it. He then looked to the side.

Phew, another chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will be 1500 words or such. It will show Cinder and Cye starting to plan and starting to sneak into the SDC mine to find a cargo ship to leave Solitas. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
