When they reached the medical center for the badly injured the Generals decided this was long enough to wait on removing the device from little Luorins heart. Trauma was sitting with her when they came to break this. She had been threatening to leave the biobed where she was hooked up to monitors so he sat down on it too in order to show her what was on his data 'pad after a search for Tookas. And then she decided to climb onto his lap (which he was fine with because shes his child) so he accepted it because she's a kid.
Both of them looked up when the Generals entered, Trauma having just finished tucking the girls black hair behind her ear. Before Trauma could go to the proper attention General Koon waved at him to remain sitting, and General Secura smiled. General Halsely was getting medical attention and General Secura was making sure that some of her men got the treatment they needed before going back to the front with the rest.
Luorin looked at the Twi'lek woman with fear in her eyes and clung to Trauma, "Don't hurt Uncle!" she cried. (Don't hurt my baby.)
General Secura tried to come closer as she answered, "No one will hurt him." But hurt came into her face as the girl scrambled away from her and hid behind Traumas' back.
Attention was drawn from this when General Koon spoke, "Aayla Secura is my friend, and she won't hurt your Uncle or you." The child came out slightly at this and he continued, "Why are you afraid of her?"
The girl had tears on her face, "The sisters always hurt. They kill brothers, and make it so they don't come back." Hugging Trauma, "I want Uncle to come back."
Swallowing Trauma (wanted to take her and run away to a safe place where he could made sure nothing hurt his child again) felt sick at the child's view of the world, what had happened to her to make a five year old think like this? There were some strange twitches on General Secura's face and Trauma wondered if she felt the same way. Then the moment passed and they focused on the girl and what General Koon was saying, "means we want Uncle and all of his brothers to come back too. But as they are warriors there are times they don't come back, and we need their help to protect the little ones like you."
Luorin nodded, "Like the elders always say." Looking at Secura, "You won't hurt us?" she asked as if making sure of this.
"I won't hurt any of you," the older woman answered. She reached out a hand and the child flinched so she lowered it slowly. "Master Koon," the graceful woman said with a slight constriction to her voice, "I am going to check on Commander Bly."
General Koon nodded, "That is a good idea Knight Secura." As she left he turned his attention to the child, "Luorin, you know there is a bad thing in your hearts right?"
Actually it was in her left heart but the girl nodded, "Master put it there." Then adding at tidbit, "Mother Talzin told Master I would be," then slowly pronouncing the next word, "beneficial to keep Uncle Sava in line." She had relaxed enough to sit back on Trauma's lap and he wrapped an arm around her to support the kids back because (he was worried sick) she was getting tired.
"Would you like to get it out?" was the next question and she nodded excitedly. Smiling behind his mask at the child, "We were thinking we could get it out of you tomorrow."
Wanting to demand if this was safe Trama swallowed that down and asked, "Is that enough time?" The girl looked up at him with big eyes and he didn't want to scare her so he continued, "We don't want anything less than the best for the most important person here."
She beamed and the General nodded, "It should be. But I will need to let them know about it alright?" Luorin clapped her hands and the General left. Then she begged Trauma to tell a story about his brothers and he told her about the few times between tests back on Kamino when it was just him and his batchmates.
After the third story where his batchmate Double stole a lemon and put it into an Alphas shaving cream she fell asleep. Brushing back her hair he looked down at the small face and wondered if someone did that for Ventress when she was this age. What had happened to turn a sweet child into that angry monster? And he vowed to himself to do everything in his power to protect Luorin.
