In a darkened room somewhere in the South East of England two figures…"Whoa, whoa there!" "You can't just blurt that out anymore." Spoke a very startled White Dino! "Oh, I'm sorry I forgot." Replied Gareth. "Yes, your country of origin is now proprietary information or something." "I shall start again." Said an embarrassed Gareth!

In a darkened room somewhere on Planet Earth, two figures sit opposite each other. One of them is Gareth. Writer of five (No, I can't believe it either!) Fan Fiction stories and the other is The White Dino. Mythical figure, savior of the dinosaurs, future son of Speckles and Blue Eyes. Both are ready for a highly anticipated interview. White Dino begins…

Final Interview

"Well, I don't know what the hell you want me to say? We've caused a bit of a stir haven't we Gareth?" "Indeed we have, I can't NOT find my story links on Google these days. By now it's all been said and done. Speckles and Co are back in their time for good. Humanity Park is well looked after and I do envy those humans who chose to stay there. But I feel there are a few loose ends we can tie up."

White Dino: It's the strangest thing, but when you watched Speckles' original movie for the first time on May 11th last year something else happened. On the very same day a random website posted an article about "What would the Earth have been like if the doomsday asteroid had not wiped out the dinosaurs?" And it used Speckles' movies for examples!

Gareth: It's true. But before you all go HA, that's where he got the idea from. I didn't find this out till 2-months after I wrote Speckles 3. Could mean something, could mean nothing. It's just one of those odd coincidences that I encountered on this path. I ask myself this question a lot these days. "Are any of us who we thought we were when all of this started?" I know I'm not. And yet…

White Dino: And yet here you sit at your 2014 Mini Mac typing an interview with an imaginary dinosaur in your own head. And you've never felt more normal or content?

Gareth: That's also true. I look back at everything I've done from writing "The Asteroid" chapter on September 1st last year to this moment now and I think "This isn't about madness, this is about understanding." I've been through an inexplicable experience, rather than bury it or ignore it, I decided to just go with it. When a man unravels, he keeps it quiet and private. Me not being the most conventional of characters, I decided sod it, let's drag the whole world along for the ride!

White Dino: And the world responded. We thought "As long as the stories fit within the Speckles-Verse and aren't too outlandish or upsetting, what harm can it do?" And if none of this had happened, we'd be looking at another blank space. To put it simply, Speckles 3- The Return Of Blue Eyes was a unique story that was born from a unique experience and we felt the world needed to know it. And against all odds and expectations, we made it happen!

Gareth: In case you haven't guessed yet, I'm a little North of 43-years-old, and one tends to muse on time a little bit more at that period. Looking back now, Junior is 20-year-old me and Speckles is 40-year-old me. And Time's Arbiter is me being slightly miffed at how fast it all went! That's why I killed him twice! The rest was just a case of what ideas worked and where?

White Dino: Indeed. That tender moment between Speckles and his mother during "Full Circle" was originally supposed to take place between myself and Blue Eyes during "Long Walk Home". But we felt it just didn't work there. Having completed my mission to save the dinos from the asteroid, why would I feel "so lost"?

Gareth: Many random moments and thoughts, where to use them? Remember "So much loss, so much pain, so much death, who can bear it? Oh that's right, ME"? That was to be your line after bringing back Blue Eyes and sending her back to Speckles' original homeland. I'm glad I held onto those because Time's Arbiter didn't even exist back then. It's all building blocks, some you use now, some you keep for later.

White Dino: And then there's inspiration. Why does a children's playground keep coming up as the place where so much happens throughout? Simple, we live opposite one. On January 10th 2021 it really was frozen and deserted. We just use what we find around us. Even the most outlandish tales can be routed in reality.

Gareth: Yes, the place where we live is surrounded by construction, housing estates, flats, an endless sea of new builds for humans to live. That's where we got the ideas for "Boxing Humanity". Oddly enough, Humanity Park was just a punchline at the end of "Boxing" so it had more of a point to it. I never imagined it would become such a center-piece to further proceedings.

White Dino: Indeed, Humanity Park was a riff on another dino franchise that some other guy came up with. Don't like talking about him. When our dinos fled the modern world to live on an island they found other dinos were already there! And boy, did high-jinks ensue! But that's another story. I'm starting to think our time is almost up.

Gareth: It may be so, I think we might have bored the world to tears by now with our philosophies and stuff. We all live on a circle…etc. To use one of the White Dino's phrases "The world changed me, so I changed the world." And it had little to do with Covid and Lockdown. I hinted at them and used them for ideas but in the end I elected to write Speckles' stories. Social media is for ranting about real-life things. But there I barely type a word, strange isn't it?

White Dino: Yep, that's it for now. I can't possibly think of anything else at this point. If you and I had a part to play Gareth, we've played it and then some. The world has you now, what happens next is up to them. "Sometimes the choices you don't make set you on the path."

Gareth and White Dino: Bye everyone and thanks for your time!

White Dino: So what next for you then Gareth?

Gareth: Well, there's a new Resident Evil game coming in May so I guess it's back to shooting zombies one way or another. Plus there's this really sad fish movie I was thinking of writing a sequel to…

White Dino: Oh my GOD, that fish film! I couldn't eat tuna for a month after watching that nonsense! We thought "Wouldn't it be funny if Speckles The Tarbosaurus and Swimming To Sea were in competition to be Korea's most unhappy animated film of 2012?" And that's where the "Comedy End Credits" came from. And a certain song we had trouble decoding!

Gareth: Oh, is that an asteroid heading our way? Everybody you know what to do…?

That is all I have left for the love of GOD!

I may have to take up smoking to get over my Speckles addiction!

Take care and see you later. Gareth.
