Luke's first experience on a cold planet (Hoth) is not pleasant, he did not like the experience at all. A debate (would you rather) fic where Luke would rather stay on a desert planet.

"Would you prefer summer or winter?"

The crew member of the Rogue Squadron is taking a rest in the cafeteria after patrol. The Rogue Squadron has a new member adding to the team. The crew plans a game to get to know each other better.

Luke doesn't join them immediately because he needs to report to the High Command.

Some choose winter while most choose summer. Luke has grown up on a desert planet and has been traumatised by Hoth experience.

"Definitely summer." Luke answers without hesitation. He recalls his experience in Hoth, he shutters inwardly.

"Why? I like winter. I love the cold crisp air blowing on my face. I love snowball fights and snow angels. We can even skate on the frozen lake. It's so much fun." the rookie argues. Luke thought, Oh he definitely has not been to Hoth. "A nice hot chocolate tastes a lot better when you're freezing."

Luke narrows his eyes, "At least Tatooine is warm, and I would rather be super hot than freeze to death."

"If you wear enough clothing, you won't be frozen." A guy who picks winter answers. "Besides, we get to wear big mittens and scarves as big as blankets and cosy hats that almost cover your eyes."

Another pilot, Wes, who chooses summer disputes, "At least we don't need to put on layers of clothes before leaving the house. We get tons of outdoor activities too, like. When we have a speeder ride, we can feel the warm air gently caress our face and hair. It's so relaxing." He says with a smile, "Everything is more colourful outside."

"I agree, summer is warm, beautiful and cheerful. It's like you're in love." Luke agrees, "Winter is drab, dark, depressing, cold, soul-sucking and sad. I couldn't feel my hands when I was outside Hoth base, it's miserable." He gives the rookie a pointed look, "You definitely have not been to Hoth."

Most of the pilots know what has happened in Hoth. Their commander had been left in the cold Hoth night, nearly freezing to death. If Han Solo had not insisted to find their commander, Luke would not be here.

"But winter is…" the rookie starts to speak but Luke cuts him off, "You should go to Hoth before you come here to argue. Trust me, Tatooine may be sand dust but it is definitely better than Hoth. I have lived in Tatooine for 19 years."

The rookie blinks, he tries to analyse the situation, "Hoth and Tatooine…?"

"Tatooine is definitely better than Hoth." Luke has given him no spaces to argue. This conversation ends with his comment.

Luke finishes his blue milk and leaves the cafeteria. The rookie looks confused, "But we are choosing between summer and winter, not a hot planet and a cold planet."

The other gives the rookie a look then Wedge stands up and pats his shoulder, "Just don't argue with the boss. Once he says what is the best, there is nothing you can dispute with it, unless you are Princess Leia."

With that, the rest of the crews leave the confusing rookie in the cafe to think.
