Chapter seven:

"I do not know what you are talking about." L responds to Misa scanning her eyes hiding that he is trying to figure out how she had figured this out.

Misa pulls out her Death note and shows it to L who looks to it. "I am the second Kira. I can explain more if you would like."

L stares at the notebook for a few moments then looks back to Misa.

"If you don't believe me try touching it then look behind me." Misa tells him desperately hoping that she can convince L to believe her and to let her on board.

L reaches out brushing his fingers on the cover of the notebook. His eyes move to look behind Misa then up when he spots Rem who stares back at him.

Misa waits having confidence about this now. She knows that L has to believe her now that he can see Rem.

L gestures for her to come and leads her to his car where they both get inside.

Rem prepares to float after the car if it moves being too big to fit inside.

Misa lets L take the notebook and flip through its pages reading everything that is in it. She waits for a few moments to let him take in all of the information.

"Okay. So this is how Kira kills." L looks to Misa meeting his eyes with her own. He clearly can tell she isn't the main Kira since not all that died are in the notebook. "So, I do have a few questions. Like how you came into possession of this, why did you tell me, and why do you believe that I am actually L?"

"Well those are easy." Misa assures the raven haired man as she is prepared to answer all of his questions. "For you see I found this notebook that Rem, the Shinigami that you saw, wanted me to find. After I picked it up she talked to me about it. Even extra things. Like that of a trade that can be made. Which leads me to the last question though after this I will answer the other question. I traded half of my lifespan for Shinigami eyes." She wonders why he seems to clench his teeth at the mention of the Shinigami eyes. "They let me see the names of peoples and their lifespans. Except for the lifespan of anyone who owns a Death note. I used this to identify Kira. Then I used me having a Death note to get close to him. I only joined him to be close to him so I can keep track of his movements. I made the sacrifices I had to including having to kill for him. Just so he'll trust me. I saw your name and figured that you must be L. Judging by your name. And why tell you. Well the truth is I do enjoy solving cases and I try to keep it quiet so my two jobs don't cross. I actually think that it'd be great to work with the worlds greatest detective. I only did all of this to get close to Kira. I believe it is the best way to be able to solve this case. To bring him down. The real Kira is Light Yagami."

L nods his head as his thumb brushes against his bottom lip as though his suspicions had been confirmed. "So, then you would be willing to spy on Kira for me then?"

"It'd be an honor." Misa confirms smiling widely in excitement at the idea of finally being able to be of help to the worlds greatest detective.

"Welcome onboard then." L lets Misa take her Death note back. He shares a phone number with her so that way they can get into contact with her.

It is later at night when Misa gets a text from Light while she is in her hotel room. She opens her phone and looks over the message.

Tomorrow meet me in the park. Make sure you won't be recognized.

Misa replies with a confirmation then she heads to bed. She feels excitement so she hopes that she will be able to sleep. She just knows that tomorrow is the first day she is the spy for the great detective L. It brings a wonderful thrill to her.

The next day…

Misa meets up with Light at the time he told her in the morning. She is wearing the same disguise that she had worn when locating Light for the first time. "So. What are we meeting out here for?" She questions gaining his attention and so she can be sure that he knows that it is her.

Light slightly glances around to ensure that they are indeed alone and that no one is close enough to hear what it is that they are talking about. Once satisfied he turns back to Misa letting their eyes meet with one another's. "We need to spread the word of ours."

"How should we do that?" Misa tilts her head curiously.

"Getting in contact with a chosen TV show host. I have some business I need to attend to. So I need you to observe different TV channels. Find someone who is most likely to follow our lead. If we can broadcast more words of Kira then it will help in the long run. We will become so very powerful."

Misa lets a smile come across her face as though pleased with the idea of them becoming very powerful. "We would rule the world in a way." She makes sure that she does sound as pleased as she looks. Though she manages to hide that she is secretly pleased for a very different reason, a reason that the brunette man cannot find out about.

"Great. I will take over the killings of those criminals while you find what station will be the best to report for us." Light sounds pleased then gestures for her to follow him as they begin to walk along one of the paths of the park. "Don't forget that it must be a station that will be the most likely to report our words with loyalty."

"So probably a show that might be a little desperate for views. Or have idiotic people that would blindly follow us." Misa guesses then from the corner of her eye she sees that he nods his head.

"That is right." Light confirms and the two keep going deeper into the park.

"Don't you worry." Misa smiles at him. "I won't let you down. I promise."

"I'll hold you to that." Light tells her turning to let their eyes meet.

The two walked for a little bit then they head off on their own ways each having their own things to do.

Light heads to the Kira investigation headquarters and on his way there he writes down names of criminals in his notebook as well as timing them to die later. He will make sure that he is seen working when these deaths happen. He has to do his best to keep suspicion off of himself after all. He puts his notebook into his bag and makes it to the headquarters. He walks into the main room deciding to sit by L. He starts working on the computer that is sitting in front of him now.

For a few moments everyone works on the case pretty quietly.

"Light what are your thoughts on this?" Matsuda questions gaining the brunettes attention in which he turns to look.

Light gently takes the papers that were being handed to him. He sees that it is papers about what each criminal was guilty of when they were killed.

"Is there a pattern that you see that I am missing?" Matsuda questions him watching as the other looks over the papers.

Light can feel L turn to look to him. "I don't think there is a pattern to what criminals are killed by Kria. It looks like they were randomly chosen. The crimes vary from each time. It is just all over the place. As if what they are guilty of doesn't really matter."

"May I see that?" L asks in which Matsuda and Light turn their attention to look at him.

"Of course." Light agrees handing the papers to L who goes through them himself. He waits with Matsuda to see if maybe L will spot something.

The two of them staring at L as he analyzes each paper that was given to him.

"I do believe that Light is right." L hands the papers back to Matsuda who takes them. "There is no pattern in what criminals that these two Kiras kill. We can't even tell which Kira is killing which criminal from this information. They just are targeting every criminal they can. Stretching criminal deaths out so that way the Kira killings can continue. They just seem to chose whoever they feel like killing."

"I was so hoping that maybe there was a pattern in this." Matsuda rubs the back of his head a little disappointed at hearing this. "though I guess that was a bust."

"It was a good try." Light tells the older man who blinks at him. "It is worth it to look into such things if we are to be able to catch the two Kiras."

Matsuda relaxes looking glad to hear this. He nods his head then heads off to the table that he had been working on.

"You are a great motivator." L mentions bringing Light's attention back to the raven haired male. "It is good that we seem to share some of the same thoughts about how to go about this case."

"Well I know that the more motivated people are to do something the better they do." Light sees L agree to this with a nod of his head.

The two turn to L's computer when it makes a small sound as if a notification has appeared.

"Is it Kira?" Light questions as the other male opens the notification.

"It is." L confirms and Light leans over as if interested in what is going on. "They have killed again."
