It has been a long journey for Link. He journeyed across Hyrule and rescued up to three Divine Beasts thus far. Link couldn't help but reflect his journey, from waking up in the clutches of the Yiga, mistaking them as his calling. Meeting with Impa, Purah, Robbie and other friends across Hyrule. From the pristine waters of Lanayru Great Spring, the violent flames of Death Mountain, and the breezy yet frigid mountains of Tabantha. Up to this point, he had freed three Divine Beasts, Vah Ruta and the Zora Champion Mipha, Vah Rudania and the Goron Champion Daruk, Vah Medoh and the Rito Champion Revali.
Link only had one beast left. In the Southwest of Hyrule lay Gerudo Desert, a harsh wasteland where the last Divine Beast, Naboris, resided. Upon entering, he had heard the divine cry of Naboris, as it stomped across the desert. In order to appease the massive being, Link would need to enter Gerudo Town, a city where only women were allowed to step into. Being a man himself, Link heeded a rumor circulating the desert: a man was disguised as a women entering and exiting the town at will. After he saw it out himself, Link got his ticket into town: a Gerudo outfit.
Disguising as a woman felt so strange for Link, yet it felt he had done such before. Maybe 100 years ago? In any case, Link left the Kara Kara Bazaar and finally made to Gerudo Town. A bustling marketplace, a magnificent hotel and bar, almost and luxury one could ask for. It felt unfair that this all exclusive to women only. But that was the least of Link's burdens. Ascending the massive staircase in town and into the palace, Link met who he needed to. The child chief of the Gerudo, Lady Riju.
"You stand before Lady Riju, Chief of the Gerudo! Declare your business, but come no closer!" Yelled the chief's guard, holding a massive claymore in her hands.
"Hold on, Buliara... this one appears to be more than a common traveler." Said Riju, examining the 'womanly' Link. "You there, what is your name?"
"Link..?" Just trying to keep up the ruse already tiring for Link, but trying to talk in a way that wouldn't get him caught was harder. He talked in a higher pitch than normal, but thankfully not high enough to blow his cover.
"Link..." said the small chief. "And What is it you've come all this way to tell me, Link?"
"I can calm Naboris."
Buliara scoffed. "You think you have what it takes to subdue something so powerful as a Divine Beast? The only ones who could ever control them were Champions like Lady Urbosa. And all of them died in the Calamity 100 years ago."
A train of thought struck Riju. "Hmm.. Buliara, a memory just jumped into my head, something my mother spoke of. When the Calamity happened, the princess of Hyrule placed a fallen swordsman into a deep sleep. This swordsman, much like our new friend here, was named Link... though it seemed more legend than fact."
"But, Lady Riju!" Exclaimed Buliara. "Do those same stories also that the Hylian Champion carried a legendary sword? I remember hearing stories about it. A magnificent purple handle with a Shimmering silver blade. I can see such a weapon matching this description." This worried Link as he glanced over the Master Sword sheathed on his back.
"And what of the device on her hip?" Riju said, pointing at the Sheikah Slate. Link tried to cover it with his hand slowly. "It appears to be a precious relic of the Sheikah. I can't imagine they would give something so valuable to a simple drifter... can you?"
Buliara took a few seconds to process the information. "I don't remember ever hearing of a Hylian vai among the Champions." She paused for a second and closed her eyes. She then shot them open with what seemed like pure anger. "Wait a moment. You're a voe!"
Link jolted back causing his right hand to become visible. The back was obstructed by the clothing of the disguise, but something could still be seen. Buliara noticed it and stomped right up to him. Grabbing his arm and pulling the part of the outfit of his hand of, revealing, once more, the vile symbol of Yiga obedience. "And not just any voe. A Yiga Clansman!" Buliara quickly threw him on the ground and put her claymore to his throat.
"A voe within our walls is a great crime by itself, but one affiliated with the Yiga..." Riju stated. "But he wields the sacred blade! Surely this mustn't be what you think Buliara! So, stand down!" Buliara hesitated, but complied. "Too mistreat a friend of Lady Urbosa, and to someone to help with Naboris, I felt like I ashamed myself. Since you are to help us with this, than we are allies."
"Oh, thank goodness." Link said in his undisguised voice, getting up.
"I take it you saw on your way to town. Divine Beast Vah Naboris, cloaked in a massive sandstorm hurling lightning at any who dare approach. We have to do something to stop it, but we have yet any way to appease it on our own. If you are truly a Champion, perhaps you will enter Naboris and calm its anger."
Link prepared to reply, but was cut by Buliara's rebuttal. "Lady Riju! I don't see how you can trust and complete stranger, and a Yiga at that, with this task! To prove his honesty and worth, I'd say it would only be fair to prove himself by retrieving your stolen Thunder Helm..."
"Hmm, and interesting suggestion." Riju thought. "You see, there is only one thing in all of Hyrule that can withstand the lightning from Naboris. The Thunder Helm, a family heirloom and relic of the Gerudo. But as Buliara says, it was stolen from us."
"You needn't worry, Lady Riju." Said Buliara. "If he truly is both Champion and not one of 'them', then this should be a simple task for him." She redirected her sights on Link. "Our soldiers can tell you all you need to know about the thieves who stole Lady Riju's heirloom." She points her hand to Link's right, towards an entrance. "Head through that arch. It will lead you to the barracks. Then meet with Captain Teake, and ask for a full report."
"Without my heirloom, you'll never be able to approach Naboris." Riju said. She then chuckled to herself. "You know, I take heart in having such a rare visitor as yourself. Lady Urbosa must be looking out for us. I wish you good luck, Link."
"Thank you, Riju. I'll be back with your heirloom as soon as possible." Link enthusiastically said before heading off to the Barracks.
In the barracks, there were soldiers training, resting, and two of them were being scolded by their officer. Something about a missing soldier who went to the thieves' hideout? Link wasn't bothered, he had to find a Teake person. Link saw someone standing atop a platform, overseeing the soldiers, hands on her hips. She seemed imposing to be deemed a captain. Link walked to her.
"Hel-"
"An outsider in my midst? What are you doing here?! This is the barracks of the Gerudo army! We are on high alert! So get out before I MAKE you leave." She Yelled.
"Err. Buliara sent me." Link hesitantly replied.
"Wait, Buliara herself? My apologies! I'm the officer in charge of the soldiers, Captain Teake! The chief's heriloom was stolen by those thieves the other day, so everyone is on edge. Their hideout is in Karusa Valley, but the soldiers are all exhausted. I was just thinking about hiring some extra help." She then look around at all the soldiers in the room. "Hey everyone! Listen up! This Hylian vai has agreed to help us, so offer her any information you can!" She then redirected her focus to Link. "If you have any questions, ask my troops. They'll be glad to offer assistance."
Link nodded and asked around about the basics of the thieves. They were in Karusa Valley up north, the best to get there was by sand seal. All basic stuff until Link reaches last one by the northern exit. The guard there offered a sand seal for him to take.
"Thank you for the sand seal." Said Link.
"My pleasure. Be sure to keep going north. You'll the hideout of the Yiga Clan soon enough." Said the guard.
As soon as he grabbed the reins the sound of her voice hit his eardrum. "Yiga Cla- AAAAAGH" Link was cut off by the sand seal charging at full speed. He surfed across the sand with his shield. It was that different than normal shield surfing. The wind blew in his face hard, but that wouldn't stop his train of thought. The Yiga Clan was up ahead.
Link had felt fear before, but now he was going to face the very people that he swore allegiance to. His mission was to destroy Ganon, but to do that, he would need to destroy its followers. What would happen as soon as stepped into it's entrance? What of Torgu? After what happened at the Eldin Hills, there was no telling what Torgu did after that.
He got of his sand seal where the sand met the rock, as he gazed upon the Yiga architecture scattered about. Link then had an idea. He hid behind a rock and got out his pouch. After a minute of changing, he wearing his old Yiga outfit once more, a crack on the mask now present due to his skirmish with those two Sheikah guards at Kakariko.
Link stood beneath the massive doorway of the hideout. He took a big breath in and out. And walked slowly inside.
Link walked through the familiar entrance of the hideout and entered the main hallway. Looking around, he accidentally bumped into a massive guard holding a torch. Link jolted back somewhat.
"...watch where you're going." Said the guard before returning to his shift.
Link breathed a sigh of relief. He was still one of them in a way. After some exploring, he entered what appeared to be a prison. He found Gerudo soldier within a cell. He ran over to her.
"Hey."
"What do you want with me Yiga scum?"
Link raised his mask. "I'm not actually Yiga. I'm looking for the Thunder Helm."
"A voe after the Helm? Times are desperate, I see. Unfortunately, I don't know where it could be. My guest guess is in the master's chambers. That seems likely right?"
"Take care, I'll get out soon." Link said before putting his mask back on. He looked around the hallways and blended in with the guards and foot soldiers. After a few minutes he reached the entrance to Kohga's chamber, only to find it under heavy guard, by two guards. Hiding behind a wall, Link had an idea. He claimed onto a ledge up above without detection. And then he exploited the greatest weakness of the Yiga.
A banana.
He threw a banana on the ground, taking the notice of the guards. One notices and tries to walk up to it. The other puts his hand on his shoulder, saying. "Hang on. Doesn't that seem a bit suspicious?"
"You're just saying that so you can grab it aren't you?"
"..."
"..."
"Yes."
"..."
Both guards then ran for the banana and fought over it, while Link peeked into the chamber door, rolling his eyes under the mask. He then entered the chamber and found it empty. He saw a treasure chest sitting out in the open. Link walked up to it, thinking it was the helm, when it was...
A banana. Of course.
Link didn't know what else to expect. However, he did notice that one of the walls looked weird and walked to it. After push on it, it moved. Link then entered the newly opened passage into a massive courtyard, with a big pit in the middle. He walked around and look around.
"Well, well, we'll, look who it is." Said a voice echoing around. Link jumped back at the sound and put his hand on his sickle.
Behind him, appeared Master Kohga himself and Torgu.
"You've been doing some bad things haven't you Linky?" Master Kohga said with a hint of anger in his voice.
"We meet again, Link." Torgu said resentfully.
Link took off his mask and threw it on the ground.
"Bah. No need for the disguise. We all know what's up." Kohga said before clapping his hands. Link's Yiga outfit disappeared, causing his Champion's tunic underneath to appear. Link then pulled the Master Sword from his pouch and help at them.
"The blasphemous sword as well, eh? Looks like this just got interesting." Kohga said, laughing.
Torgu then pulled his sickle out and pointed it at Link.
"Surprised to see me come like this?" Link asked. Link could the feel the tension of fighting the ones found him alone. The ones gave allegiance to. The next few minutes would decide what happens.
SURPISETH! Welcome back to the slowest updating story of ! Yes, after this pretty long while, I'm cliffhanging this for now because I'm evil. In any case, this story is very close to its conclusion. But first Link will get himself out of this situation...
Thanks for your support thus far. I'll work as hard as I can, but we can't expect Hylia to do all the work and make my schedule and fingers work properly. See you in the next chapter! Peace.
