After they made their way through the cafeteria grabbing the inedible food, they were forced to parade around with. Her siblings and her sat at their usual table, listening to the various conversations happening in the cafeteria.
Alice chuckled and directed her siblings to one particular table who now had the new student added to their group. Jessica has been introducing the Cullens and Rosalie fought back a laugh at the comment the girl made about Edward. Said boy gave her a disapproving look and turned back to his meal he'd been poking around in, sulking at the description Isabella gave him.
She heard her being decribed and smirked at the Ice Queen Moniker these students granted her. She was about to turn her back when she caught Isabella's eye who looked directly at her with a sincere smile curled up on her lips.
"Wow looks like you've got a new admirer Rosie" chuckled Emmet softly from his spot beside her. She barely hid her flicker of surprise at the compliment but scoffed at Emmet
"We'll see" she hid her thoughts from Edward and tried masking her emotions but she felt the same uncomfortable ache she felt when she heard Isabella's name for the first time. She didn't know what it was about the girl that elicited that kind of reaction from her, but it was clear that she didn't need Edward probing around her mind before she could figure it out. She saw Jasper raise an eyebrow but she shook her head slightly indicating that he keep it to himself.
"The cold doesn't bother me anyway" she heard from the table, and fought back a shiver at the words. 'What's wrong with me' she thought. Edward was too busy in his own world, being blasted with the various thoughts from the students to notice her sudden lapse in the defensive barrier she surrounded her mind with.
"Did she just quote Elsa from frozen?" Asked Emmet grinning like a Cheshire Cat, at what the quote implied Rosalie rolled her eyes at her brothers juvenile taunting, she knew better than to respond because that would just give him more ammunition.
"Shut up Em" she said quietly and tried to tune the girl out, but was unsuccessful when she heard the final comment about her being gay. She groaned inwardly, luckily the bell rang indicating that lunch was over.
" you've got Bella in your next class Edward" said Alice effectively rousing Rose out of her thoughts and Edward, Rose ignored her sister and the rest of her siblings and made a motion to stand up, she gathered her uneaten lunch and threw it in the trash before exiting the cafeteria heading to her own class. The further she walked the more the ache intensified, she needed to speak to Jasper alone or Carlisle to find out what was happening to her.
Bella looked at the surprised faces at her table , Eric recovered quickly, Angela seemed to accept it in stride. Jessica spluttered before gathering her wits.
"anyways later guys.. I have biology next" she said as she heard the bell ring ending lunch, she glanced at the Cullens table before swiftly standing up to her feet with her empty tray in hand. She was halfway out of the cafeteria when she heard Mike call her.
"Yeah Mike?" She asked with a bit of apprehension, she hoped he wouldn't make some stupid comment about needing a real man or something similar.
" uhm I'm originally from California so you know.. I don't have a problem with you being gay and all.. I guess I'm just bummed I won't be able to ask you out so I kinda took longer to respond than I normally would " he spoke quickly, rubbing the back of his neck slightly embarrassed by his delayed reaction.It was true though he was originally from California, besides he had a gay cousin who was pretty chill so he never had a problem with it, but Forks was a small town and a small town had small minded people in it. He just hoped Bella wouldn't get any problems from the other inhabitants.
Bella gave the boy a somewhat relieved smile " thanks Mike, that means a lot" she said in a sincere tone, they walked side by side with him to their next class " by the way if you haven't noticed, I picked up that Jess might have a thing for you" she commented whilst looking forward.
"Really?" He asked, he looked like a golden retriever waiting for a treat, she held back a laugh at her wayward thoughts, it might be true though that was because she had seen it before, Jessica waiting for mike to notice her while mike was pining over her being the new shiny toy and had a 'city girl appeal'.
"Hmm just because I'm gay doesn't mean I can't see when a straight people have crushes Mike" she joked lightly, but her expression gave nothing away.
Mike was caught between laughing and coughing , but then he saw the smirk curl up on Bella's mouth at his floundering and realized it was a joke " haha .. you nearly got me... you're not bad Arizona" he bumped her shoulder playfully.
Bella chuckled " you neither California" the pair continued to make small talk on their way to biology, Mike entered first and then her, she was about to make her way to Mr Banner's desk when the fan turned and blew her scent across the room. She cursed inwardly when she noticed in the corner of her eye Edward stiffening.
"Ahh you're Isabella Swan" said Mr Banner
"Uh yeah just Bella is fine though" she said regaining her composure.
"Well just Bella" he teased " every other seat is filled" he looked over the room, which was steadily filling up with students. " you can sit next to Mr Cullen" he said pointing out the coppered haired boy, who sat stiffly in the corner of the room.
Bella nodded and went to sit in the seat, she noticed Edward discreetly move his seat further from her, his fists clenched the desk tightly and his eyes darkened.She gave him a once over before nodding her head in lieu of speaking and turned to face the front of the class. She had no reason to entertain the vampire, nor did she need to know why he was currently leaning away from her like she smelled of garlic.
Mr Banner started the class and she took some notes, her hair created a curtain over her face, in the corner of her eye she noticed Edward barely breathing, and still sat stiffly with barely moving a inch ' because that's very human' her thoughts mused.
As soon as the bell rung indicating the end of class he was up out of his seat and out of the class.
She scoffed at his dramatic exit and packed up her belongings at leisurely pace, she saw Mike approaching her with a confused frown on his face.
"Jeez what you do to Cullen? Stab him with a pencil or something?"
Bella laughed "No, and I resent that you think I would" she joked and slung her bag over her shoulder "I don't know him, nor did I do anything to offend him .. I think" she said as they exited the class.
Mike shook his head " well, whatever you did or didn't do it clearly made Cullen run out of class like the devil was chasing him" he said walking Bella to her next class which was Spanish and since he had a class in the same building.
Bella rolled her eyes at the metaphor " well the devil is a fan of broody boys" she grinned.
Mike shook his head " Not even a full day here and you're running out the locals ?"
Bella shrugged and turned off nearing her class " My dad is the sheriff and I'm his daughter I've got some pull" she winked and waved Mike off listening to his boisterous laughter fill up the hallway at her last comment.
The rest of the day passed quickly, she didn't need to see the future to know that Edward was probably hounding Ms Cope after school , to attempt to change his classes so he didn't need to endure her scent. She wanted to avoid him but she needed to go by the office to drop off the slips that was signed by the teachers anyway.
"Are you sure? No other class is available ?" He asked with strained voice, Bella stopped near the entrance patiently waited for him to finish.
" I'm sorry Mr Cullen but every other class is full"
"I see... that's fine thank you for trying I'll try and endure it" was all he said, and turned around to exit, she saw him coming her way and she raised a brow at the heated glare he directed at her. ' yeah like you can blame me for smelling this good' she thought in amusement.
She stepped aside and let the vampire pass her briskly. She put a smile on her face, entering the office once Edward diva stormed out. She handed over the slips that were signed.
"Enjoy your first day?" Asked Ms cope politely.
Bella nodded and smiled " it was perfect actually, just perfect" she said with a tinge of sarcasm, because aside from her comments to the group of friends she made, everything else proceeded the same as it did in the timeline before.
" well that's great, I hope you enjoy your time in Our quaint town" said the woman.
"Hmm I'm sure I will, thanks" she said and waved at the woman before exiting the office.
She felt a light drizzle hit her face. Across the parking lot she could see the Cullens having a spat and heard but she didn't pay attention. She walked over to her own car and hopped in throwing her bag on the passenger seat .
She saw Rose glance at the car before turning away quickly. She started the car listening to the purring of the engine before she put it in gear and sped out of the parking lot heading home.
Cullens manor
The Cullens rushed home, Edward was in a panic, the new girls blood smelled so good he needed to stop breathing to fight himself from attacking her outright in biology. He looked to his sister who seemed to be going through her visions.
"We need to have a family meeting" he muttered through gritted teeth, Jasper was already on the phone dialing Carlisles number ,they sped down the roads he turned off onto the gravel path that led them to their homes.
Edward jumped out of the car as soon as Rosalie's car pulled up, she watched her brother with a certain apprehension but kept her thoughts blocked.
The door opened and Esme stood there with her brows furrowed watching her first son, who looked ruffled as he passed her without greeting.
"Where's Carlisle ?" He asked as he passed her briskly, she was taken aback by his gruff tone but swallowed her comments for later.
"On his way" she paused and watched the rest of her children file in their home. " what's this about?"
Emmet who seemed the most calm out of the group, went to sit on the couch " Eddie Boy nearly ripped the new girls throat out in class"
Esme gasped and looked at her soon who seemed to now pace the living room floor as they awaited the patriarch " surely that's not true Edward?" She said softly.
The boy didn't answer instead he grunted in response, his mind ran a mile a minute, what it could've meant if he gave into his baser instincts at that moment. He wondered whether he could stay in Forks while having such a tempting human sit next to him everyday for the rest of the year. Surely it would be impossible right? He'd slip and give into his monster it might not be now but it could be tomorrow or the day after. Even now he was fighting with himself, to stay home and not run over to the Chiefs home to finish Isabella off.
15 minutes passed the family sat quietly, each in their own minds, Rosalie felt an ache and irrational anger when her brother told her the news, she didn't know if she felt sorry for him experiencing it or whether it was for Isabella but either way the ache hadn't disappeared since Edward nearly exposed them all. She needed to speak to jasper soon , but he currently had his hands filled with his mate who seemed to be going through every possible future and from the look on Edwards face it wasn't good.
The front door opened once more announcing the presence of the leader of the coven , Carlisle Cullen. He was the oldest of the family and had the best control, he worked with blood on a daily basis and barely felt the need to feed on it or go feral. Out of the entire family he and Rose was the only one who never tasted human blood a record she would love to keep.
"Okay Edward you called a family meeting" he said looking around at his coven, their faces betrayed nothing but from the Edwards pacing he knew something was wrong " what's this about son?" He asked softly , dropping his case on the table and took up a seat next to his wife and mate.
" I nearly exposed us today" breathed Edward stopping mid pace " The new girl, chiefs swans daughter.. her blood nearly made me expose us Carlisle!" He said loudly running his hands through his messy hair.
Carlisle looked to the rest of his family who seemed to be watching Edward carefully but also sitting in a way to be ready if he wanted to flee and do what his baser instincts begged him too.
"Isabella Swan? Yes I believe the entire hospital was filled with news with the chiefs daughter returning after being taken away by her mother at a young age." He nodded to himself " has anyone else had issues with her blood?" He looked to the rest
"None of us has come in contact with Bella..." Alice finally coming out of her visions looked to Edward " yet" she added and had Edwards eyes snapped to her immediately.
"No ... no none of you will approach her!" He stated vehemently, Jasper growled at the tone he used with his mate.
"None of you understand.!!" He said loudly " her blood is different that any human I've smelled before... it's like a drug" he paused trying to gather his thoughts " it's my own personal brand of heroine that I can't help but want to ..." he trailed off looking at his father figure who now had a pensive look on his face.
"A singer?" Edward echoed his fathers thoughts while the rest of the family looked between the two who seemed to be communicating through their thoughts.
"For those of us who doesn't have your disgusting mind reading ability...mind filling us in?" Asked Rosalie with bite, as she stared at the coven leader and first born son who seemed to be ignoring the world around them.Edward snarled at the comment but she ignored him and waited.
"A La tua cantante or singer is a specific human who smells extraordinary. Each vampire has their own singer not many live to tell the tale because the vampire is so consumed by their bloodlust. The call is similar to one of a mating bond to protect, cherish and love but instead of protecting your mate because of love and devotion-"
Rose cut him off with a incredulous scoff " you're protecting them like your meal?"
Carlisle looked at his second daughter who sneered in disgust at the term, or the description he couldn't be sure which " yes rose exactly like that... this is going to be difficult" he sighed " I'm sure I can put in my notice in at the hospital and then we can leave" he said to the room.
Alice was the most vocal " so we leave because edward can't control himself? She's going to be my best friend Carlisle and a part of this family I've seen it!" She argued, Emmet was next to protest " yeah pops lets put it to a vote"
Carlisle sighed and nodded " alright everyone who wants to leave?" He asked raising his own hand, Edwards went up and then hesitantly Rosalie's too.
" The result is clear we're staying-" a animalistic growl cut him off, as he watched his Edward blur up the stairs.
"He's going to Denali for a week" said Alice softly.. " His going to try and control himself so he doesn't endanger the family" she said answering everyone's thoughts.
"I see, what did you mean by part of the family ?" Asked Carlisle looking to his youngest daughter who had a beaming smile on her face.
"Ive seen a future where Bella has golden eyes" she said excitedly, while the Volvo sped out of the driveway indicating her brother fleeing to Denali.
"I see, for now I'd like you all to maintain your distance from Bella if possible. There's no need to put her in more danger. When Edward returns as well, we need to face this as a family and not have him lose himself" said Carlisle seriously gazing at each of his children, who nodded their heads in agreement. He left the living room and retired to his study followed by his wife.
" You were right Rose" said Emmet as he plugged in his gaming system " it's going to be a long year indeed"
Rose couldn't help but agree with her brother, not that Edward left, she let down her defensive measures she put in place which was technically, her translating everything in Russian so that he wasn't able to read her thoughts. His gift was invasive and disgusting, it reminded her too much of her past.
She tried filtering through the conflicting things she felt for the human girl, Jasper watched his sister in the corner of his eye. He noticed her emotions all over the place the entire day ranging from longing, love, protectiveness and then confusion. He wondered why that was but ignored it for now if she wanted help deciphering the confusing emotions she would come to him. He knew she hated having her emotions manipulated many of those feelings stemmed from losing control in her past.
"Wait... what did you mean your best friend Alice?" Asked Emmet after having a very delayed reaction at the news " if anything I'm sure Bella bear wouldn't want a overactive pixie for a best friend "
Alice raised her brow and narrowed her eyes at the implication " oh yeah why's that?"
Emmet rolled his eyes, his face lit up with a massive childish grin " A guy who fights toe to toe with a grizzly bear makes a much better friend of course !"
A/N we know eddy is dramatic and stuff ... rose is trying to figure out what she feels.
The mating bond, will take time to form.. right now she has all these feelings but doesn't know what it means. It's not like the wolves imprinting. Bella knows about the bond but won't rush her into anything because love doesn't work that way..lust does.
