Izuku Midoryia was 7 years old when his Quirk finally came in.
The last three years had been very hard for both him and his mother. Friendships were strained and eventually things came to a head when Izuku was still being bullied for being Quirkless even though his Quirk just hadn't activated yet.
He was playing with his favorite All Might Action Figure *now with crushing grip* when his right index finger began to itch.
He scratched his finger and the itching continued until a droplet of glowing green fluid formed on the tip before falling onto the action figure he had set down so he could scratch.
The green droplet disappeared into the toy. A few moments later the articulated toy began to move on it's own!
The toy stood and looked around Izuku's room. It then ran off in one direction and collided with one of the legs of the chair Izuku had for his desk.
The toy fell over and got up and flexed a little before laughing and running directly into the chair leg again.
Then again, and again, and again, and again.
They toy was still repeating this action when Izuku finally managed to drag his mom back to his room so she could see the results of his Quirk.
The two green haired people continued to watch the toy keep repeating the same action and fail repeatedly at whatever it was trying to do.
"Sweetie, we may need to experiment with this Quirk a little before we try to get it registered." Inko told her son.
Izuku nodded before picking up the autonomous toy and sighed as it squirmed out of his grasp and started running into a wall instead.
It took a lot, and I mean a whole lot of trial and error to get a better understanding of Izuku's Quirk.
When they registered his Quirk it was simply listed as an animation Quirk and a severely limited one at that.
Mass produced items were dumb. Action figures ended up not knowing which way was up most of the time. He also couldn't animate more than one of the same thing at a time.
They learned this when he tried to animate two different All Might figurines to fight each other. When the second one 'woke up' the first one fell over.
Items he brought to life also seemed to have a time limit. One drop of the liquid he produced could bring an action figure to life for a week.
The two Midoriyas had come to discover that the more 'unique' the item he was 'bringing to life' the better it worked.
Things like model kits that took time to build were slightly better than regular toys. They had better awareness and could follow some simple commands.
The higher quality animations also required more of what Izuku called the 'Elixir of Life' he could produce from his fingertips.
When he first activated his quirk he could only produce a drop from each fingertip, something that grew with time.
The volume he could create increased to five drops per finger per day on the 1st anniversary of him awakening his Quirk and then twenty-five on the 2nd anniversary.
Things really took off for Izuku when he found an old clip online of someone doing a marionette show with a minor telekinesis Quirk from near the beginning of the Quirk Era.
Izuku realized that if he could create something with his own hands the outcome could potentially be so much better than things he could get from a store or a hobby shop!
Izuku then threw in all his free time into mastering things like wood carving, sculpting and painting. He learned all he could about creating detailed puppets all the while he was saving up his Elixir of Life in his room.
He was lucky that it didn't seem ever go bad. He currently had several large sealed beakers in his room full of the Elixir that acted like a night light for him.
Izuku was eleven years old when he had another major breakthrough with his Quirk.
He had wanted to surprise his mom for her birthday so he spent close to three months working on a present for her.
He made a puppet that looked just like her! It was as identical as he could make it down to how she wore her hair and her favorite every day clothes!
Izuku had put a lot of care and love into making this puppet and it showed.
It had taken almost six ounces of The Elixir before Izuku saw the puppet begin to show any signs of life.
And what life it was! The puppet woke up with a cute little yawn! It rubbed its eyes and then it almost seemed to smile at him!
Izuku then introduced himself to his creation and did his best to explain that she was a gift for his mother.
The puppet, which he had mentally named 'Mamadoryia' seemed to understand him as he talked!
For now he asked her to hide in his closet so he could surprise his mom.
Mamadoriya nodded and then began walking over to his partially open closet door and made the same gesture his mother did when she used her Quirk.
The closet Door opened a little more! His creation seemed to have his mother's Quirk!
"Mamadoryia?" Izuku called to his creation as his eyes shined with unshed tears. "Change of plans!"
Inko loved her present. Her and her puppet duplicate got along swimmingly! Whether it was random housework or sorting bills the two tackled everything together like a well oiled machine.
They even liked the same dramas on TV!
Mamadoryia was the ultimate emotional support puppet!
The fact that Izuku could create a puppet that had the same quirk as the person it was based off of was something that had to be kept secret for now. In his deeper dives into quirk history he'd found some references to a man who could steal quirks.
Izuku didn't know if such a quirk did exist, but both he and his mother knew that he had to treat his power very seriously.
That didn't stop Izuku from experimenting a bit though.
He learned that his Quirk still had other limitations he hadn't even explored before. While he could create original creations and bring them to life he couldn't give them a quirk if he thought about one while making them.
He also couldn't create puppets that had powers from old comic books either. He made a Superman Puppet once and it didn't go well.
He could however, create puppets based on figures from history.
The first Historical Puppet Izuku made was based on a pre-quirk era martial artist.
Izuku just called it Bruce.
Bruce quickly became his unofficial bodyguard and his personal trainer as well.
Other Historical Puppets were made and Izuku absorbed all they could teach him while he began to plan his next Support Puppet.
A few months after Izuku's 13th Birthday…
UA Infirmary…
Recovery Girl sighed as she double checked that the package addressed to her had gone through the high level security screening UA had established earlier in the year.
Everything looked fine so she opened the package. It was filled with those recyclable air pillows, a smaller box and an envelope addressed to her in fairly legible handwriting.
Dear Recovery Girl…
Hi! My name is Izuku!
My mom told me a while back that things sometimes get harder as you get older. I don't know exactly what that means yet but I made her a helper last year and she loves her Support Puppet! It took some time to narrow down who I wanted to make a Support Puppet for next but I decided it had to be you, the best and longest active healer in the world!
Anyways, I know Quirk use outside of Heroing is pretty frowned upon but I had to help once I knew I could. Inside the box is my own creation, Healing Helper! She's got enough juice to last for a year provided you don't overtax her Quirk.
If you have any questions, run a classified in the Weekly Trader looking for a Gremlin. I'll keep an eye out!
Izuku Last Name Redacted!
Recovery Girl almost dropped the letter when she'd read that whatever was in the box had a Quirk. In doing so she'd managed to give herself a pretty nasty paper-cut.
"Damn." Recovery Girl muttered as she quickly set the letter down and grabbed some sterile gauze to put pressure on her wound.
Times like this made her wish she could use her Quirk on herself.
As Recovery Girl was dressing her wound the lid to the box inside her package began to open as though being pushed by an inside force.
Recovery Girl quickly turned when she heard a small yawn and was shocked at what she saw!
It was a moving replica of what she'd looked like in her heroic debut all those years ago, down to the style of hairpins she'd used then!
"You're Healing Helper then?" Recovery Girl asked the moving doll.
The doll nodded and started making kissing noises as its lips seemed to get a little bigger. It gestured towards Recovery Girl's wounded finger.
Recovery Girl sighed. "I'm breaking protocol doing this but fine." She said as she held out her hand to the doll who put a quick kiss on the back of the old woman's hand.
Recovery Girl felt a tingle on her finger and removed the wrapped gauze. Underneath the partially dried blood was a fully healed finger with no trace of a scar.
"Well shit." Recovery Girl muttered. "We're going to have to talk to the principal about you, and your maker." She said as she looked at the doll who nodded at her.
It was going to be a strange year, she could tell.

"Why does that puppet that looks like Dad keep hitting him in the balls?" Shoto Todoroki asked his older siblings.
"I don't know but it's hilarious!" Natsuo said as he managed to stop laughing.
