Jake and Olivia always had horrible timing when they tried at a relationship. Now that there's no hope with Fitz and Jake admitting his heart belongs to Olivia, will the timing finally be right between them? Or will fate continue to keep them apart? 'Olake' endgame. Set during S5 E18 Till Death Do Us Part where 'Olake' meet just before he is set to wed Vanessa. Rated T for now.

Chapter 7

***White House***

(Olivia folds her arms and rolls her eyes at her ex)

Olivia: "What are you talking about?"

(Fitz walks to her, not taking his eyes off her, glaring at her)

Fitz: "Oh, cut the crap, Olivia. Jake came to me earlier, congratulating me on winning you. You and I both know that can't be further from the truth. We both know that your heart belongs to Jake."

(Fitz sits on the edge of his desk and folds his arms over his chest)

Fitz: "Why are you stringing Jake along?"

Olivia: (weird look) "I'm not doing that."

Fitz: "I don't buy that for a second."

Olivia: (scoffs) "Why don't you mind your own damn business?"

(Fitz raises his eyebrows and keeps his eyes on Olivia)

Fitz: "Remind your father of that. Elijah offered to bring you and me together. I, of course, told him no."

Olivia: (sighs deeply) "I'll worry about my dad and you worry about yourself."

Fitz: "I still wonder what kind of a game you're playing."

(Olivia sighs deeply and raises her hands to her sides as she spoke)

Olivia: "Why do you care so much. Fitz? We're over."

Fitz: (shrugs) "Whether we're together or not, Liv, I will always care about you."

(Olivia goes to sit on the couch with her elbows on her thighs, thinking out loud, her arms held high)

Olivia: (sighs deeply) "Why haven't any of my relationships ever worked out or gone the way I wanted them to?"

(Spreading her hands out wide, she continues)

Olivia: "I did love you, Fitz, but it…it just didn't work out."

(Olivia faces Fitz in confusion)

Olivia: "Why didn't it work out again?"

(Fitz slowly walks to the couch, sits down next to Olivia, and faces forward with his elbows on his thighs as he then looks at her)

Fitz: "Because you stated at the time of our breakup that you didn't want to be The First Lady of The White House and the responsibilities that came with it. You also wanted to remain at OPA. I respected that."

(Olivia nods a little in response before speaking)

Olivia: "For what it's worth, I'm sorry that things didn't work out."

Fitz: (nods & smiles politely) "I am, too." (shrugs) "Maybe, it just wasn't meant to be."

Olivia: (nods) "Yeah, you're right."

Fitz: (serious tone) "I want to make something clear to you, though. Even though you won't admit it, I know that Jake is the love of your life. Even though I'm not the love of your life, you are and will ALWAYS be the love of mine…even though I'll never be yours."

(Fitz then changes the subject to the current matter)

Fitz: "I want to help in any way that I can regarding Elijah. He's an asshole that needs to be knocked down a few pegs."

Olivia: (briefly smiles) "I appreciate the offer. I have a plan, though. It may be illegal and I don't want to put you in a bad spot."

Fitz: (nods) "I'll be the judge of that."

Olivia: "I'll get back to you on that, okay?" (sighs) "I better go."

(They say their goodbyes before she exits the room)

***About An Hour Later: OPA***

(Huck and Quinn are in the conference room talking)

Huck: "I don't need to remind you not to divulge too much information to Jake because otherwise the plan will go up in smoke."

Quinn: (nods) "Don't worry. I know what I'm doing."

Huck: (raises his eyebrows) "I hope so. Because if Liv finds out –."

Liv: "'If Liv finds out what'?"

(Huck's sentence is interrupted by Olivia's presence at the doorway as she folds her arms in expectancy)

***Jake's Apartment***

(Jake is drinking a beer at his place while sitting down on his chair as he has a flashback to what Quinn said to him regarding Olivia)

***Flashback***

Jake: "What's going on with Olivia, Quinn? She went from wanting to be with me to doing a complete 180?" (shakes his head) "Am I wasting my time? Fitz basically told me Olivia wants me, NOT him. I-I don't get it." (sighs)

(Jake turns his head and wipes his face with his hand as he speaks)

Jake: "In my heart…" (faces Quinn) "…it's telling me not to give up…my instincts are telling me not to give up. But, I need SOMETHING to hold on to, Quinn. SOMETHING."

(Jake shrugs his shoulders in defeat)

Jake: "Can you give me that?"

(Quinn sighs deeply in response. She felt horrible, HORRIBLE, for Jake. She knew that Olivia loved Jake with all her heart, but was protecting him from Elijah. However, Jake was right. He needed something, anything, from her and Huck to tell him that Olivia hasn't given up on him. Against her better judgment, she decided to help Jake out. Quinn leads Jake to Olivia's office and shuts the office door behind him)

Quinn: "I'm only going to tell you this once, so pay attention. Got it?"

(Jake wasn't sure how to respond, so he just nods)

Quinn: "Hang in there a little bit longer. It'll work itself out."

(Jake looks around without moving his head, trying to understand)

Jake: "O-kay. Wh-What does that mean?"

Quinn: "Just stay away for now. We're taking care of it. I don't know how long it'll take. Be patient. Do NOT tell Olivia I said anything. You said your instincts are telling you not to give up? Trust them." (sighs) "That's all I can say."

***End of Flashback***

(Jake shakes his head in confusion as he speaks)

Jake: "What are you hiding, Olivia?"
