A/N: I'm back! sorry for the brain freeze, but i think it's over I just skipped the brain frozen part but here's what should have happened. I have no idea how to do a meeting of a time traveling Harry Potter with the black family that hasn't been done yet. It's not very important to the plot, the summary is that Arcturus Black just has his SlytherinNoReactionFace™ on, and then we don't really know what he thinks. He's just like, ok, you brought me news, i have not cast any illegal curses on you yet because i need time to think, and Harry's like ok.. And yeets the heck out of there. Also, yeah, that's how I talk and how my writing sounds unedited. Sorry. Oh well, I might actually write that piece in if my brain ever turns on properly. Now onto the chapter.

Hermione swept into her classroom, like a less menacing version of her school day's professor Snape. There was a surprising amount of his tricks she and Harry reused. He was actually an interesting person, once you got over the fact that he went on to become a murder, death eater, and overall horrible triatorous person because he was jealous of Harry's dad.

She was looking forward to this class. That and dreading it. It was either fate being bitch or Dumbeldore deciding to play Merlin either one worked, really, that she also had the fifth years, all houses as her first class, right after Harry's. She didn't know what game Dumbledore was playing, allowing her to create a new class that easily, not even a real job interview, but then again, he had let Lockhart teach as if he was competent, much less Quirrelmort, not making sure Remus took his wolfsbane, allowing Umbridge, not detecting Crouch, and so on and so forth.

Her class was all settled, and all buzzing from their previous class, their first defense class with a competent professor in, well, ever. Their heads snapped up as she entered, her violet robes matching her violet eyes. That was the one trait about herself she loved having changed because of the blood adoption, a recessive gene in the Black family that only came out in blood adoptions. That might have explained Bellatrix's lack of sanity as well, the rest of them were not nearly as insane.

Hermione shook her head to get rid of the musings. Her mind worked well, a little too well sometimes. "Good afternoon class. I'm Professor Ravenclaw, and the Headmaster has allowed me to restart and teach this class. For those of you who have not yet opened a dictionary, ethics are moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity and the branch of knowledge that deals with it. As for this class, this will be a class that does not teach you how to use magic, but rather what magic to use and when to use it. What is said in this class stays in this class. I know this is an important topic right now, so I will warn you, you are old enough to know what is going on in the world and I will make sure that you are fully informed and can form your own opinions, whatever they may be. I will always be playing devil's advocate, a term to mean arguing the opposing side to anything you may say, whether that is my actual opinion or not. Anything said in this class stays in this class, and I say that because we will be having a discussion on blood purity. But by that i mean a polite educated discussion. Unless you want to prove to me that people have blood or something that can be classified as such for mud running through their veins, I will not hear the word mudblood. Neither will I tolerate the words blood traitor unless you can prove the victim has betrayed their blood, or mudwallower, dunglicker, scumsucker, or any other terms meant as slurs unless their literal meaning can be proven to apply. As this class has already been in Professor Gryffindors class he will have told you I use the same method, with individual points only the two of us can later and therefore rewards only the two of us can provide. As for how ths class works, this room is also on time dilation set up by Professor Grffindor, although notes are allowed, especially if used to prove a point. Now, who wants to spend a point choosing the topic of discussion for today?"

The students looked around. The rewards for points sounded interesting, but so did choosing the topic. Marlene McKinnon was the first one to decide she was willing to lose her first point gained in order to choose 3 hours worth of discussion topic.

"Professor, I am willing to sacrifice my hard-earned point from Defense in order to choose the topic of the day." Marlene McKinnon exclaimed, over dramatizing her every word.

"Miss McKinnon, you now have 50 points, what topic would that be?"

"Professor, You said we could discuss blood purity without risks of duels or insults worthy of duels?"

"Not in those words, but yes. Alright class, this is how it's going to work. [(A/N: This will be modelled on how my stereotypical american high school, relisti, not what you see on tv by the way, did debates)] Anyone who thinks they are the strongest advocate of a point of view, you will be the leader of that opinion team. The leader will, well, lead, a lot more work, and a lot more extra research, but you can also regulate what your team says, and will be getting 20 points for the job. You can declare your own side or switch sides at any time, any proven research on the topic will get you ten minutes of uninterrupted speaking time, even if your team leader doesn't want it, as well as two points if the research is applicable. Any points for debate will get a person chosen to speak and debate for your team. Teams choose an area in the room and we are going to start. Who wants to form a team?"

"I want to form a team" answered a dark haired slytherin girl.

"Good. Miss Black, what is your team's stance on the issue?"

"I say that the only real witches and wizards are those who have magical parents, and only they should be allowed to wield magic and all that comes with it. Furthermore, marriage or having children with muggles should be banned and anyone with muggle parents should be obliviated and have their magic bound. My third and last point is that we should not bend time-tested magical traditions to accept the muggle ideas that muggleborns seem to hold so dear."

"Good. Please note how Miss Black did not categorize people by blood but rather by parentage in this discussion, as that is the focal point. We all bleed red, and there is no known way to test what is actually in our blood that is legal, well, anywhere in the world. Any other opinions? Mister Brown (A/N: we know canonically Lavender Brown had a witch and wizard as parents, but don't know their blood status. Here, I have Mister Brown as a muggleborn as well as his later wife)"

"Professor, I disagree with all of Black's stances on those points. I claim that anyone who can work magic can claim to be a witch or wizard, and should be allowed to learn how to and wield magic. Everyone should be allowed to live with their family, magical or not, and should be allowed to use magic as long as we uphold the statute of secrecy, without the trace, as wel a marrying who we want. And lastly, everyone should be allowed to celebrate their own holidays and all old rituals are banned for a reason, but muggle holidays are harmless."

"Good Mister Brown. Anyone else?" Hermione was surprised for a split second but called on the student nevertheless. "Miss Evans, do you have a third opinion?"

"Yes, Professor. I disagree with both opinions. I feel that magical traditions are important as long as they do not harm anyone. Furthermore, blood rituals such as the adoption ritual that require willingness from everyone should be allowed, but should not be mandatory. However, marriage with muggles should not be allowed unless they already know about magic such as having a muggle raised magical close relative. Anyone who can wield magic should be allowed in the magical world, however we should all abide by it's traditions, whether we were raised with them or not."

"Good. Anyone else? No? Alright. Begin."

A/N: notes, for anyone who is going to question this chapter, the places where the teenagers speak in this entire story has been gone over by a certified teenager, fourteen and a half years old and verified to be written in a way that an educated teenager could likely speak. Some were even written by her. As for the fact that Harry and Hermione admit to not always doing things by the book, they do only that. They don't want to lie to people, but they have a way out of any legal trouble if it arises, and with the track record of the ministry, i'm sure it will. And hey, I'm the author, I pull the strings. But either way, if you had a way to get rid of a terrorist and all it took was to know some *highly* illegal stuff, would you take it? Especially if you considered getting rid of that terrorist your responsibility? Hell yes. What, did you think the Navy SEALS who killed bin laden did it 100% legally, or the people who dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Those are the examples I came up with because I'm an american and therefore suffered through plenty of American History in High School.

Also, I know it's a short chapter, but I didn't really have time to continue, so the actual debate will be the next chapter, in no more than a week. If you didn't realize, I agree with Lily's middle-ish opinion. It's just like going into a forgein country. My parents are both immigrants and I was born and raised in the world's long-time immigrant hotspot, America's east coast. My parents and others like them do not try to make the whole town or state celebrate their holidays. We do that in the privacy of our homes. My family doesn't celebrate Christmas but does practically the same thing for new years, except without the religious traditions bit. BUt out of respect for the fact that over 90% of my town celebrates Christmas, I do give my friends gifts for christmas, just like they give me gifts for christmas. I do try and wait to open tem on New Years but it doesn't always work out. My parents weren't raised celebrating thanksgiving, an american holiday in november that centers around thanking people and the and for what you have, it came from immigrants in plymouth who had half their [population die in the first winter, but still were thankful that the hal survived. I won't go into history too much, but when you move into a new country, and magical Britain versus normal Britain the hp-world is like a whole different country, you learn and follow their traditions because it's polite. Celebrate your won in the privacy of your own home, sure. But don't try to force everyone else to bend to your will. I do think I feel strongly about this issue but only debate it hp-related because that is kind of free from real-world politics. But America is kind of undergoing a similar thing right now. So yeah, if you count america as magical and the rest of the world as muggle (no offense mean, just my overactive imagination), i would be a pureblood, all of my father's family is american 'magical', but my great-uncle, maternal grandmother's brother and his family are 'muggles'. So yeah. Pureblood but just barely, and still first-gen. Just so you get where I'm coming from. I won't be infusing too much real-world politics here, but i will be putting in a bit, especially in the author's notes because I'm not far right or far left and do have a real minority opinion, so yeah, that's why I have the ethics class. Also I want to write Hermione teaching because we never saw her do that, so it's all from my mind. But yeah, this chapter is a bit shorter, but i will have another one coming out soon.

Bye, and i'm out!
