Chapter Six: F stands for...
I looked over my notes, frustration clouding my thoughts. This was... driving me too insane. Maybe Ella was right and I need to stop worrying so much over this. Except that its been two days since Zane disappeared, the others that were working undercover still haven't found him, and Saturday was tomorrow!
"Star? Are you busy tomorrow night?" Ella pulled my notebook away from me, eyeing me carefully as if she expected that I was going to jump down her throat or something for doing so.
Confusion immediately flooded me. What kind of question was that? "Um... whatever F's planning is planned for tomorrow night."
"I was talking about the school dance." Ella gave me a flat look.
I flinched at that, my mind for the first time since this whole disaster started up, flickered over to the dance. "Um... I don't think I'll go."
"Fine... be that way. Cody is taking me and he has a cousin that is looking for a date. We were thinking about having you two go on a blind date...?" Ella crossed her arms, giving me a point blank look as she stared me down.
I squirmed at that, hesitation flooding me. "Isn't it a costume dance? We don't have any costumes, and I highly doubt we'll end up matching me to Cody's cousin's costume." I paused at that, another thought occurring to me. "Are you two an official couple?" This would be their third date since they met at the start of the school year.
"Maybe... I don't know. We haven't talked about it yet..?" Ella shrugged helplessly, a blush dusting her cheeks.
Wow... my sister really liked the mathletes captain, didn't she? Shaking my head at her, I held out my hand. "Can I have my notebook back please?"
"Fine... only if you promise to take a break tomorrow and go with me to the dance. We've already got hte costume detail worked out."
Of course they did. "You know, I never caught what Cody's last name is."
"Oops... guess I forgot. It's Fiulo."
Just me... or did that sound familiar...? "Fine I'll go... and I won't enjoy a minute of it." As I spoke, I flipped through my pages, looking for the ones that had the letter F scribbled all over it. That name really did sound familiar... then again it started with an F so most likely it was one of my potential words that F could stand for.
"Okay Star... what's wrong?" Kai leaned against the door that connected the twin's bedroom to the rest of the bounty.
I frowned as I looked first at Cody's last name... then the meaning behind it. "Okay you know how Ella's been sort of dating this guy..?"
"Yes. I think she mentioned that his name is Cody."
"It is... Cody Fiulo to be more precise. The thing is that Fiulo means villain. In truth he is too young to be F, with our knowledge of how long he or she has been around... however he could be a son that is working for F." I tapped my pencil against my notebook, unease flooding me.
Kai sighed as he moved further into the room. "I see... Star? How much is this you not wanting Ella to start dating? I'm just saying, you appear to be looking for ways to undermine their relationship... and looking way more into it than they are."
"What is that supposed to mean!?" I glared at Kai, positive that he had lost it.
"About this. I wasn't crazy about Nya dating Jay... and honestly as Nya and Cole prove, a guy and a girl can be just friends." Kai turned, walking out of the room, leaving me once again alone with my research and thoughts.
Shaking my head, I turned back to my research, just as Ella walked in. "Cody and his cousin are picking up the costumes as we speak."
"Yay..." I sarcastically grumped out as I stared at my papers. I really have a bad feeling about going tomorrow night...
~Someone Else's POV~
"I hope this works..."
"Relax... the sisters are oblivious to everything."
"You sure about that? Ella is pretty good at reading people."
"Just make sure Fiulo knows what costumes they will be wearing."
"...I really hope we know what we're doin'." A pause as a shadowy figure shifts ever so slightly. "Do you have the costumes?"
"Yeah. Here you go. Make sure that they get them."
"The plan won't work if they wear the wrong costumes."
~Star's POV~
He was here... why was Cody here?! I glared at the nerdy redhead, smirking as he nervously pushed his black-rim glasses back up his nose. He was holding two different packages, which he kept shifting his hands. "Star? How come you didn't tell me that Cody was here?" Ella seemingly materialized out of thin air.
"Oh come on!" I threw my hands in the air, vaguely wondering if I was ever going to get anytime to interrogate him.
Cody smiled with relief at the sight of Ella, quickly holding out the packages to her. "Here... the store was out of detective costumes... so these'll have to work." He paused a second, before mumbling out an apology.
Ella took the packages, quickly opening the one with her name on it to see a highly detailed green ninja costume inside of it. "Wow! I didn't know that they make costumes like this!"
Lloyd quickly moved closer, peering over her shoulder at the costume. "Uh... it looks like an exact replica of my original gi."
Cody squirmed uncomfortably at that, before jerking his head towards the open door. "I have to get going. Don's waiting up for me. Something about him being nervous about his upcoming blind date."
Ella nodded in understanding, her features thoughtful as she walked him out the door. "Alright. That I can understand Cody. Tell him hi for me."
"Will do!" Cody sprinted out of there.
I scowled, now more positive than ever that he was hiding something from us... and Ella clearly was so smitten by him that she didn't realize that there was anything fishy going on.
"Star? You okay there?" Ella snapped her fingers in front of my eyes, snapping me out of it.
"Yeah... fine." I snagged my recently delivered package up, heading back to our room. There must be something sort of tracking device in these things...
A/N: Seriously? Still no reviews? Hmm... something tells me this chapter might draw some out... mainly because I'm curious on what you all believe is going on with Cody and his cousin, as well guesses on who his cousin is. And where they got those costumes.
