[Many Pride Landers are seen gathered below Pride Rock. Kovu walks hesitantly through them, and they part to let him pass.]

Simba:[Simba lunges in front of Kiara, halting her in her tracks.] *roars* [Simba strides to the edge of Pride Rock's promontory.]

Pride Landers:[Kovu looks hesitantly from left to right as he walks through the Pride Landers.] *murmurs*

Timon:[Timon stands on Pumbaa's head.] Ugh! [Timon marches to the end of Pumbaa's nose.] Why, I oughta... [Timon jumps to the ground and swings his

[Kovu draws nearer to Pride Rock. The Pride Landers watch him distrustfully.] What's he doing? Look at that scar on his face. [Kovu stops in front of Pride Rock. Simba glares down at him from the promontory.] *murmurs*

Monkeys: [Monkeys pound their fists to the beat of the music.] *screeches*

Elephant: [Many Pride Landers, who are gathered in rows, stamp to the beat of the music.] *trumpets*

Kiara:No! [Kiara runs toward Kovu.]

Lionesses:[Two lionesses block Kiara's path.] *growls*

Mom Tiger:Simba, stop this!

Henrietta Pussycat: This isn't right, Simba!

Elephant: [from offscreen] *trumpets*

[Simba glares down at Kovu. He stares back in horror before looking behind him at the throngs of angry Pride Landers.]

Pride Lander: [Two oryx advance on Kovu, heads bowed and horns pointed forward.] Deception. [Kovu backs away slowly.] Disgrace.

Pride Landers: [The oryx back Kovu to the edge of a cliff until he is forced to turn tail and flee.] Evil as plain as the scar on his face.

Zebra: Deception.

Giraffes: [Several giraffes lift their chins haughtily.] For shame!

Hippopotamus: [Kovu bounds down from Pride Rock. A hippopotamus watches from a ledge as he dodges past several attacking snakes.] He asked for trouble the moment he came.

[Kovu looks down in the water, and his reflection ripples into Scar.] Now, we're not so blind, [Kovu splashes through his reflection. [Kovu runs offscreen. From afar, Rafiki watches him go.]

[The scene transitions to Pride Rock. Simba stands on the promontory.]

Simba: You are not going anywhere without an escort from now on.

Kovu: [The camera pans out to reveal Kovu standing on a hill behind Kiara. He watches her with a frown.] I was so afraid. [Kovu bows his head and closes his eyes. After a moment, his eyes snap open again.] Now, I realize [Kovu lifts his head and smiles. Kiara sighs silently.] love is never wrong, [Kovu strides down his hill toward Kiara.] and so it never dies. [Kovu and Kiara sit.] Like dark turning into day, [Kovu uses one paw to scrape away ash on the ground, revealing a green shoot.] somehow we'll come through [Kiara stares in wonder at the shoot. Around them, a wind carrying milkweed floss stirs the ash into the air.] I know love will find a way.

[The butterflies fly away. Kovu chases after them. Kiara watches him go in confusion. He looks over one shoulder at her, grinning.] *laughs*

Kiara:[Kiara's confused expression clears. She races after Kovu.] *laughs*

Kovu and Kiara:[Kovu and Kiara chase each other through the grass.] *laughs*

Kovu:[Kiara leaps on Kovu, and they roll until he is pinned on his back.] Hey!

Kiara:[Kovu licks Kiara's cheek.] *chuckles*

Kovu:Kiara sits up, while Kovu lifts himself up on one elbow. He nuzzles her.] Mm. [Kovu looks into a nearby pool.] Hey, look. [Kovu's and Kiara's reflections are merged in the water so that the left side is Kiara's face, while the right side is Kovu's.] We are one.

Kiara:[Kiara looks up in realization.] What?

Kovu:[Kovu stands.] Let's get outta here. [Kovu races away from Kiara, then turns to face her.] We'll run away together... [Kovu crouches and shakes his haunches suggestively.] and start a pride, all our own.

Kiara:chuckles* [Kiara walks to Kovu.] Kovu, [Kovu and Kiara nuzzle.] we have to go back.

Kovu:[Kovu pulls away from Kiara.] You're kidding. But we're finally together!

Kiara:Our place is with our pride. [Kovu looks away thoughtfully.] If we run away, they'll be divided forever. [Kovu's expression is glances back at Kiara with the same grim look.]
