"Toko are you ready?"

"Give me a minute!" Said purple-haired woman shouted in retaliation as she struggled to get dressed. Even though she's been wearing them for a few years now she still struggled, especially with the ones that were strangely designed. She sighed once she finally got the top on and ran a hand through her braided hair, she looked at her reflection at her dresser, she was wearing a pale purple tank-top with a black cloth wrapped around her midsection, a pair of jeans, and black flats, and on her face was a pair of round-framed glasses.

Toko never knew the world could be so clear, as most of her life, both under and above water everything was blurry, but she relied on her instincts in the water until she was captured, but now with these, she could see so much of what she couldn't see before. "Toko, you need help?"

"N-no I got! I'm coming down!" She grabbed a duffle bag off the bed and walked down the stairs where she saw the woman she fell in love with, wearing a light blue t-shirt, kaki caprice, and brown sandals. She also had a bag over her shoulder, "Ready to go?"

"Yeah."

They went out the door and locked it behind them, and walked to their small grey four-door car. They tossed their bags in the back and started to drive, today was the second anniversary since they left the lab, and today they were going to be meeting up with everyone at the beach. Komaru rolled the windows of the car down and let the air in, her eyes glanced over at Toko who was watching the passing scenery, a smile quirked on her lips.

She and Toko have been living together since she helped Toko get out of the lab, they left Japan a few weeks after, they now lived in France, where she was a counselor for troubled kids, while Toko is a famous author, well she's never shown her face, but they make decent money to get by. The lab shut down a year after they left, Makoto with the help of Hiroko was able to out the facility for their experiments and have it shut down and many of the higher-ups arrested, while those who were only doing their jobs and were not made known were left alone. Makoto and Hiroko left town not long after, especially after the police cleared them after they were questioned on everything like everyone else was.

Makoto and his boyfriend lived in a Tokyo apartment, while Yuta lived with his sister Aoi who lived with her martial artist girlfriend. Hiroko was dating a cop and was making money becoming an informant for the police. They were all living good lives with no facility or anyone connected to it breathing down their necks or anyone coming after them.

Since it was the anniversary and they knew they were safe they decided to have a get-together, at one of France's beaches with a rental cabin with many bedrooms for the weekend. It wasn't often but she and Toko tried to go to the beach every now and then for Toko to change into a mermaid, as it wasn't really healthy of her to be human all the time, especially since she did live most of her life as a mermaid.

Toko's eyes finally caught Komaru's glances, "W-what?" She still had her stutter but she was doing much better.

"Nothing just wanted to look at you."

Toko's face turned a bright red as she looked away, "Why would you want to do t-that?"

Komaru rolled her eyes, "Don't you dare start talking about how I could've found better if I didn't love you then why are we still together, and no I do not pitty you, remember how I got you out and wanted to get you out, even before. I love you Toko, and I will say it a million more until you understand, kay'?"

Toko had a hint of a smile, "I believe you."

"Good!"

The two drove down the road, Toko rested a hand on the middle console, and Komaru rested a hand on top, now driving with one hand. Their fingers interlaced with each other, they glanced at each other again with smiles and love in their eyes. Love that came together from two different worlds.
