Azuma swiftly followed the scent of blood. He knew Inuyasha was in trouble, and that his chances of defending himself were slim. He arrived just as Miroku swung his staff, missing Inuyasha by inches. As he tried to swing the untransformed Tessaiga, only able to grasp it with one arm, he missed entirely as Miroku sidestepped him with ease. Miroku swung his staff again as Inuyasha tried to move, but his leg's pain was too much for him to bear any longer.
As the sharp edge of the staff came down, it was stopped as Azuma held it with ease by his fingertips. "Azuma!" Inuyasha said surprised, seeing his cousin hold off the monk. "Inuyasha! Get out of here!" Azuma yelled as he forced Miroku back a few yards. "No! I'm not going anywhere!" Inuyasha said as he tried to stand again. He managed to get to a knee, but his right leg pain forced him back down as he winced in pain. "Please Inuyasha! You're too hurt to fight!" Azuma said as he deflected Hiraikotsu causing it to be flung back at Sango. He watched Miroku and Sango begin walking towards them, fully prepared to defend his cousin from death when suddenly he felt a furry tail brush against his leg.
He looked down to see Shippō and Kirara taking shelter behind him. "L- Lord Azuma, what's wrong with them?" Shippō asked with tears in his eyes. "They're possessed by something, what it is I don't know but they will not harm you, my young friend," Azuma said as he stood defensively in front of them. "Please, don't kill them! They're all Kirara and I have in the world!" Shippō cried as he grasped Azuma's leg. "Dry your tears, young one, you have my word that nothing will happen to your friends," Azuma said reassuringly. A few seconds later, Azuma knelt and met Shippō at eye level. "Now, I need a favor from you Shippō," He said sternly as he looked into Shippō's eyes. "Take my cousin and Kirara and hide yourselves away until morning," He said. Shippō was slightly taken back by Azuma using his name, but as he looked into his eyes, he felt a sense of courage as he nodded and turned and ran to Inuyasha.
"Come on Inuyasha!" he said as he tried to help Inuyasha to his feet. "No, you and Kirara go, I'm staying," Inuyasha said definitely as he began to rise. "Inuyasha, enough! I do not say this to offend you but tonight, you will only slow me down. Now GO!" Azuma said sternly as he gave Inuyasha the most serious look he had ever given. "Azuma look out!" Inuyasha yelled as an arrow flew straight at him. In a flash, Azuma spun multiple times as a beam of energy split the arrow in two. The 2 halves of the arrow dropped at Azuma's feet, powerless. "GO!" Azuma roared in a demonic voice as he ran forward and used the force of his speed to knock Miroku and Sango back and to the ground. Shippō and Inuyasha began attempting to go but were hindered by Inuyasha's injuries. Seconds later the two were flying as Kirara transformed and scooped them up on her back.
Azuma watched them depart, nodding thankfully at Kirara for her help. He turned back and saw Miroku, Sango, and Kagome ready their weapons once again and begin shuffling toward him. "You three will attack until you die, and I do not wish to harm any of you," Azuma said as he watched them advance. "Therefore, you will be disarmed and incapacitated for the time being. I apologize in advance for what I must do," He said as he ran at full speed at the three. They attempted to strike but Azuma's speed was simply too much for them as he took Miroku's staff, Sango's sword, and Kusarigama, and Kagome's bow and threw them as far as he could toward the village.
He then ran behind each one and chopped them on the back of the neck, not enough to cause serious damage but enough to render them unconscious. The three fell instantly at Azuma's feet as he looked back toward the village. He could smell the foul odor of Naraku along with his cousin Sesshomaru, the two were engaged in combat. Azuma closed his eyes and released himself from within as he began growing, his fangs becoming longer and his body covered in white fur once again. He roared as he finished transforming back and rushed as fast as he could towards the scents. When he arrived he could see Naraku had Sesshomaru on the defensive, dodging pincers and sharp legs. Naraku had grown more demonic since Azuma left but he knew he was still at best, equal to Sesshomaru.
Naraku attempted to pierce Sesshomaru but only managed to cut him as Sesshomaru dodged him and latched on to his pincer arm. Azuma dashed toward the two and managed to take Naraku's feet out from under him causing him to fall. Naraku attempted to pierce Azuma with his back legs as he got up causing Azuma to jump back and away from Sesshomaru. "It's useless, you can not kill me!" Naraku said confidently as he began growing ever more demonic, with only his head being somewhat human.
The two cousins circled Naraku and waited for an opening, meeting each other's eyes periodically to coordinate their attack. As they circled, Azuma could feel a strange power coming from within Naraku. He had felt this power once before fifty-three years ago when he last visited Inuyasha but it felt different this time, as though it were full of malice. Azuma rounded Naraku again, this time he had a hunch. He signaled to Sesshomaru who signaled back his agreement and the two immediately lunged for Naraku on opposite ends.
Sesshomaru sank his teeth into Naraku's shoulder causing him to turn his attention to the immediate threat he posed, allowing Azuma to get under him and pierce through his abdomen with his claws. Azuma retracted his paw when he felt the tiny fragments of power in his hands. As he removed them, he could hear pain coming from Naraku as he began to shrink back to his normal size. The two cousins met in front of Naraku and stared at him with a burning fury. Azuma looked at the jewel shards in his hand and simply threw them in the direction of Jakkens scent in the forest.
"Don't think you've beaten me yet," Naraku said definitely as his eyes began to glow purple. A few seconds later, four weak demons came flying out of the forest towards Naraku, all carrying jewel shards. Sesshomaru and Azuma looked at one another and knew what they had to do. The two split up as Azuma ran for the demons, each knowing that if they reached Naraku, he would become more powerful than either of them. Azuma snatched the demon in his teeth and shredded him with ease. As he spat him out he could see the jewel shard as it was dropping but was caught by another demon and continued toward Naraku.
He killed demon after demon but each time, another would take the jewel shard and carry it closer, with one managing to come within 20 feet of Naraku. Azuma prepared himself to jet towards the demon and Naraku when suddenly a cry was heard across the village.
"Hiraikotsu!" The voice said as a giant boomerang soared through the air slicing the demon in half. As another demon attempted to snatch the jewel shard, it was snatched by a transformed Kiara and flow in the direction the boomerang had come from. Azuma looked over in shock as he saw Sango, Miroku, and Kagome running with Lady Kaede towards them.
"Naraku!" Sango yelled as she caught Hiraikotsu. "Foolish humans, I have more than enough power to finish all of you off," Naraku said as he dodged Sesshomaru and flew towards the group at full speed. However before he could reach them, he was knocked off course by Azuma as he charged Naraku headfirst and sent him into a grove of trees. "I have had enough, it's time to end this," Naraku said as he raised himself and expelled a poisonous miasma from his body.
As the miasma wafted across the forest, dozens of demons erupted from within and flew towards Naraku, being absorbed by him as he grew and grew. Azuma looked to Sesshomaru who was limping slightly and having trouble balancing himself with his missing arm. He rushed over to his cousins' side and attempted to help him but he was met with a snarl and a snap, knowing it to mean to worry about himself and not Sesshomaru. Azuma stared into Sesshomaru's eyes and sorrowfully nodded, knowing what he must do. He raced back to the group and transformed back to his human form as he approached.
"We have to get you out of here, he's grown too powerful," Azuma said as he stopped. "No, we're not abandoning you and Sesshomaru!" Kagome said as she readied another arrow. "Please! It's useless to fight him. We need more power, something to negate his energy," Azuma said almost begging. "Well, it's a good thing you've got me then," Inuyasha said as he walked up the path to them. "Inuyasha! What are you doing!" Azuma yelled. He was going to yell again but he noticed Inuyasha wasn't limping anymore, but rather walking normally. "There you are!" Naraku said as he rushed at Inuyasha.
"Hm, bring it on you bastard," Inuyasha said as the sun began rising behind him. Before Naraku could get halfway to him, Inuyasha's hair turned white, his ears returned to normal, and Tessaiga transformed into its usual fang form. "No!" Naraku said as he attempted to strike Inuyasha with his pincer hand. With almost no effort, Inuyasha deflected it and severed his arm and 4 legs as he unleashed a mighty wind scar at Naraku. Naraku had been badly damaged by the wind scar, causing him to revert to a human form missing an arm and a leg. "You haven't won yet Inuyasha!" Naraku said as he attempted to summon more demons to his side, raising his hand to the forest. Before he could, however, his remaining arm was severed as Tōkijin sliced it from his body.
"Ugh, Damn it!" Naraku said as his arm withered away into smoke. He turned to see Sesshomaru standing about 40 yards behind him, lowering Tōkijin to his side. "Well, it would seem we have a family activity," Azuma said as he drew his sword Kozawa and readied it. Naraku stood in a three-way confrontation, he had Sesshomaru to his back, Inuyasha to his left, and Azuma to his right. He simply lowered his head and growled as he stared towards Azuma and Inuyasha.
