The Fruits of Labor
(Takoba National Stadium. Mid-August. 16:04)
Everyone was getting ready for the second round, and the hundred students grew concerned as they saw the ruins outside. "Oh god," Rikido said to himself before he saw something come out.
"This next test is the last one. We will see how well you can help bystanders in a disaster zone," Yokumiru explained, making everyone confused. Especially Wally up in the stands, looking at the scene next to the arena in confusion.
"What the—There're people out there?" Mezo exclaimed as many people came out of the rubble, groaning.
"They're injured?" asked Rikido in shock, a brow shooting up in surprise. "Old people and kids!"
"This is dangerous; why are they out there?" Minoru asked, hand going over his mouth.
Yokumiru, as if sensing the panic, explained in full. "These are people who have undergone training to be professional people-in-need-of-rescue. They are in high demand right now and are called 'The Help Us Company,' or HUC for short."
Shota and Emi watched the old man bring up a blood pack, only to feel an icy look pointed at them as Wally was giving them the flattest look he could muster, his mask now off. "You have GOT to be joking," Wally muttered, rubbing his head. "I understand volunteers for this, but hiring freaking actors?"
"They are in high demand in situations like this, but still, not big on this being how they go about it," Shota admitted as they heard Yokumiru say they are doing the test based on a point system.
"And another point system," Wally sighed, rolling his eyes as he leaned back in his seat. 'Still, this is a worst-case scenario simulation.' Wally suddenly felt a chill as he remembered the sensation of getting blown up in an alien ship. 'Hopefully they're easier on these kids.' He looked towards the Ante Room, stroking his chin.
Inside of said building, many were getting ready for the next round and carbo loading with some of the available food.
"Hey, you two won't believe what I just saw," Sero said, heading to Minoru and Denki, who looked at him in confusion. They saw his devious grin, so they felt they had to ask.
"What's the rating?" Minoru said, a bit dismissively. Sero looks around and leans down towards them to whisper.
"It's R18." Sero's grin only got bigger as he mentioned this, piquing their interest now.
"Go on." Minoru and Denki looked at the tape hero, each raising a brow. Sero then motioned over to Camie, who was talking with some of her peers.
"See that girl in the cat suit? From Shiketsu?" Sero asked. Minoru and Denki both looked at him flatly.
"If you're just saying she's hot, that's obvious. I actually have been keeping an eye on her since we got here." Minoru admitted. Sero gave a small chuckle.
"Yeah, but I saw Midoriya get a good eyeful during the test behind some rocks," Sero admitted, an impish grin on his face as Denki and Minoru's eyes went wide. Their heads snapped around, looking directly at Izuku.
"MIDORIYA!" the two shouted. Izuku jumped and looked at the two in confusion until Denki yanked on his collar. "What the heck, you curly haired little—" Denki began.
"What were you doing with that babe behind those rocks, you jerk? While we were all being attacked, you tried to get smooth with the competition?" Minoru accused the confused Izuku. Before Izuku could respond, a set of yellow gloves grabbed those two's heads.
"Wait, wha—"
BONK!
Both boys got their heads smashed into each other. As they groaned and rubbed at the spots, they looked up at their assailant and found Wally glaring at them. "Seriously? In a situation like this, you're focused on that? That's gonna be extra training to get your head out of the gutter, and that's coming from me," Wally reprimanded, his arms crossed.
"Ow," both Denki and Minoru groaned as Denki looked at him glumly. "Oh come on Mr. West! I nearly got meatballed and Midoriya was doing some sneaky stuff with a girl from another school!"
"It wasn't even like that! She ambushed me!" Izuku said, annoyed, as the other students arrived. Wally looked confused as he saw him give a subtle thumb point towards the girl, who just waved with a seemingly oblivious look. Wally stiffened a little, his instincts coming back in force.
"You okay, sir?" Momo asked, raising an eyebrow as she was giving Denki and Minoru a flat glare.
"Uh, teach? Shiketsu is coming our way." Eijirou said, motioning over as Wally sees the furry teen come up to Katsuki.
"Hello, you're Bakugo, right? I'm Nagamasa Mora. I'm sure you met Shishikura, the guy with the silted eyes?" Nagamasa asked, his one eye peeking through the thick blonde rug that's covering his body.
"Yeah, Spark Plug over there kicked his ass." Katsuki said, pointing a thumb at Denki who was now standing back up with a fresh bruise on his head. "Woulda done it myself if he didn't sneak up on me."
"I see, honestly I'm here to apologize on the behalf of my school. What he likely said was very rude, as he likes to put his values onto others. I came here to make it clear that I wish for good ties between our two schools, especially with the rising threats." Nagamasa explained,a slight shift in the fur indicating he was trying to smile.
"Good relationship, didn't feel like that earlier," Izuku whispered nervously, remembering the ambush as he looked at his cowl, the claw mark was still on it from when Camie scratched him.
'Good relationship, and yet,' Shoto thought, looking at Inasa as he walked over to him. "Excuse me, you with the shaved head. Did I do something to offend you?"
Inasa paused before he gave a small scoff, "Well, good of you to notice, son of Endeavor. But I hate you guys, you may have changed a bit, but you still have that look in your eyes."
Before he could leave it at that, Wally zips over while Shoto standing in shock, "whoa there, hothead. Don't just go throwing around insults. I don't know what happened between you two, but if you admit he's changed, at least try and see what he's like now before throwing shade."
"Sorry sir, but it's a complex situation." Inasa apologized, trudging off as Wally just raised a brow before giving a sigh.
"Todoroki," Izuku whispered but his blood run cold when he saw Camie sending him a small smirk
"See ya.~" She said, a subtle wink in her tone as she walks off, as Izuku nods politely. Denki and Minoru glared, but then saw Wally shoot them a look to shut them up. Ochaco watched Camie go, a knot forming in her stomach.
'What's this feeling?' Ochaco asked herself before she heard Wally clap his hands together. Everyone turned over to Wally at this.
"Okay Class 1A, I got something quick for you guys to hear since you only got like a minute or two before this thing starts." Wally said while they came closer, with Katsuki staying in the back. "Look, this is all about helping those HUC guys. Pretend this is an actual disaster zone, forget they are actors. These older kids likely have this trick put into their heads right now, so I'll give you some advice I've always heard."
'Great, more parroting,' Katsuki thought dismissively, having caught on to Wally's teaching style by now. Wally looked at each of them before he took a breath.
"Trust your instincts, the civilians are top priority in these kinds of situations. When out there in these costumes, they're the people who're most important. Keep that in mind in this test." Wally said, putting his mask back on and pulling his goggles down. "Okay, good luck." He then zips away.
"He's only been a teacher for a week and suddenly he thinks he can give us advice?" Katsuki asked, crossing his arms at this.
Tenya however was stroking his chin in thought at that, "Trust our instincts, hmm,? Ah! He is meaning that we still have to treat this as if we are in a life or death situation! He wants us to treat this like we are in an actual danger zone!"
'That's literally what he said,' was Kyoka's snarky thoughts, sighing a bit as the others got pumped.
"Lets do this!" Denki exclaimed with a smirk, fist pumping a bit just as the building started to unfold like it had done previously.
"There has been a villain attack in the city of Metropolis, all medical personnel and rescue workers are held back due to a bridge collapse, so the pros have to fill in the roles of first aid till they arrive." Yokumiru said, likely reading off of a script.
In the stands, Wally just gives a loud sarcastic laugh when he hears that. "Ahahaha, yeah, they think they're clever," He then notices Seiji sitting next to his teacher, looking down with his squinty glare. "Hey, you're from Shiketsu, right?" Wally asked as the teacher turned to him.
"Y-Yes?" The more nervous-looking man asked, looking at the younger hero with a skittish look. Wally resisted an urge to raise a brow as he motions to where Shota and Emi were sitting.
"You guys look kinda lonely, wanna sit with my colleague and his not girlfriend? We can compare notes." Wally offered, giving a friendly smile. Seiji scowled but his teacher just gave a polite nod, standing up and motioning his student to follow. He did after a short pause but went after, and soon the five were sitting together as the students were running around.
At the field, Deku was looking at the others as he said, "Okay, we need to work together this time. This is a rescue mission, so we need to try and make sure we don't get left behind."
"Especially as we do not know of their grading parameters this time around." Ingenium said in agreement, Katsuki just rolling his eyes as he runs off.
"I got my own way to do things, Deku! You guys do what you want!" He shouts, as Red Riot is about to follow but Charged Bolt stops him.
"Look, I want to help him too, but I think we just need to keep an eye out for anyone who needs help." the electric teen said, as the stone teen groans. "Lets go near where he is that way he won't think we're just following him."
"Okay, but first-" Creati makes something and tosses it to Red Riot, who catches it; it was a red and gold flare gun. "This is so we can get to each other if we need help."
"Sweet." Red Riot said with a smirk as he put it on his belt as they went on ahead, as Uravity hears something in the distance.
"Deku, there's someone crying over there." The group runs in the direction of where she's pointing and sees what looks like a young boy crying about his grandpa.
"Oh no!" Deku quickly went down to the boy's level. "Are you okay? Where's your grandpa at?" He grips his shoulder, making the boy cringe.
"Hey! Ease up on the grip, minus points!" The boy shouted in annoyance, making Deku wide eyed in surprise.
'They're the one grading us!?' Deku thought in shock, as the boy rubbed his shoulder.
"Sheesh, good job with the word choice, but don't manhandle the people you are trying to help. You don't know what kind of condition we are in a disaster zone, so you gotta be mindful of any and all potential injuries." the HUC member explained, the students looking around as they heard the older students setting up a first aid station. "Everyone in a disaster is having the worst day of their lives, so you gotta be careful with what you say and what you do. Heroes are the first in line in a situation like this."
Deku pauses at this as he nods, understanding. He then removes his mouth guard, so the boy can see his smile. "Don't worry. I'm here to help." The boy saw this and got back in character, pointing in a direction while crying as the green-clad hero carefully picked him up.
"Deku, wait." Creati said as she made something from her stomach; a white box with a cross styled after her uniform. "This is a first aid kit; I put bandages and other amenities that cna make casts and splints. Take this to the first aid station while we find others."
Deku nods as he carries the kit with one hand and carries the boy with the other, giving him reassurances. Uravity watches him, a frown hidden by her tinted helmet. 'Why do I feel distracted? I was fine earlier, was it that girl,?' She looked down, trying to keep herself together. 'I can't be distracted,or be a distraction for,' before that thought continued, she remembered something during the past week.
(2 days earlier)
At the TDL base, Ochaco was dodging around a few of the Ectoplasms to work on her new hand to hand skills she was learning from Wally; using a few well-placed blows as she saw a few others practicing similar techniques.
"Dang kid; a little Black Canary, aren't you?" Wally asked, giving a smirk as Ochaco rubbed her head sheepishly.
"I'm not that amazing. I'm just a normal girl, deep down." Ochaco replied, looking downward while Wally just gave a casual shrug.
"Eh, we're all just normal deep down. Just because we are in the Life, doesn't mean we're any different kiddo. Civilians just kinda forget that under the spandex and body armor, we're just people." Wally said, giving a small shrug as he looks at his wrist-computer, flicking through files.
Ochaco thought about it and asked, "So, heroes can, for example, be, in relationships?" Wally raised an eyebrow as she realized she said that outloud, her face turning red. "J-Just as an example, don't need to think too hard about it none!"
Wally blinks at her sudden shift in accent but shrugs it off. "Well, yeah. I mean, it's not that weird. A lot of heroes back home were in romantic relationships, heck a lot of them got married."
Ochaco looked at him curiously before tapping her fingers, "Sorry if that sounded dumb. I was just wondering, given, well, it could be kinda hard to juggle that sort of thing, right?"
"Well, yeah. The Life isn't easy, but it's a lot easier with people that care about you. It's kinda why I am teaching you guys some of the stuff my mentors taught me about teamwork. A lot of things about this job can be a lot worse if you're doing it alone."
"But wouldn't being too personal with people be, well, a problem? When it comes to getting a goal?" Wally looked at her very oddly, as she looked a little sheepish as she shrank.
"Not really, no. I think it could just be the cut-throat stuff they're trying to push on you, but heroes work a lot better when we work together as a team than just trying to one-up each other. At least that's what I think." Wally shrugs before they hear the sound of lightning nearby. "Aaaah crap, Denki is overwatting again. Better go fix that before I get yelled at." He pats her on the head, "Good talk." he then zips away to leave her to think.
(Present)
Ochaco looked to the side as she remembered that; she only brought up the relationship thing because Mina's comment on the night he showed up was still lingering in her head. Plus with what that one villain told her about wanting to be like someone, and Yuga's observation during their fight against Thirteen, which almost made her fly into a blackhole.
However, what was said and thinking about how often she was there for Izuku and the others, she clenched her hand as she shook her head. "I'll need to think harder on this, but when I'm not here. If I'm distracted now, I can't reach my goal." She then runs off to where the others were going, as everyone started to search for anyone that needed help.
At the stands, Wally and the other teachers and Seiji watched everyone work. They watched as students from Ketsubutsu set up a rescue spot, kids from Shiketsu setting up a landing pad for the helicopter while the kids from UA and other schools were searching for the victims.
"Hmm, it seems everything is going okay so far. In a disaster zone, working together is honestly a lot more important than anything else." Wally said, his leg going over his knee as he relaxed in his seat.
"Indeed. You have to be careful with every move you make, especially in a disaster area. The roads are damaged, buildings are about to fall apart, one wrong move and a life will be lost. It is an extremely stressful situation, where any mistake can cost something." Shota said, nodding sagely.
Seiji watched as Inasa lifted up several stones away from civilians, though was getting chewed out. "Yoarashi is eager, but his lack of experience is folly, especially with how far he has gotten." his teacher shot him a small look, given he was the one who succeeded while he failed.
"So you're kid took on three UA students at the same time, right? Rough." Emi said with a chuckle as Seiji gave her a frown.
"With all respect, Ms. Joke, but I was able to incapacitate Bakugou and Kirishima. It was Kaminari who was the surprise factor." Seiji corrected, frowning a bit. "Which was, quite surprising, I didn't see that coming from someone as childish as him."
"Well, people can surprise you." Wally said with a small shrug. "So Army Kid, what power do you have? Likely something pretty impressive to take Blasty and the stone wall down." Seiji looked at the speedster with an incredulous look before sighing, taking his hand and starting to massage his pinky and ring finger together before pulling away, showing a floating flesh wad.
"It is named 'Meatball', it allows me to massage flesh and knead it. I can use my own flesh as projectiles and other such uses, but I can only mold other people into crude spheres for so long as I keep concentration. If I break it, they reshape back to their natural states." Seiji explained, Wally nodding while trying to not look grossed out by the floating ball of flesh.
"Okay, so where do you put them?" Wally asked, making Seiji raise a brow while his teacher turned to him curiously. ",You know, where do you put the meatballs? Like do you have like a storage device that is collapsible, do you have like a backpack,? What?"
Seiji's eye darted to the left as he said, "Uh, no, I do not have that." Wally blinked as he tilts his head in a 'what are you saying' expression. "What is that look for?" Wally only sat up at this before bringing his hand up.
"You mean to tell me you make people into giant flesh balls, and you don't store them anywhere? What, do you expect the cops to just toss the dough people into the back of their car? How are they gonna be restrained when you turn off their dough-forms? How do you know they won't accidentally make something grow wrong when they are tossed into the back of the car? How do you know their clothes won't stay inside of the fleshy bits?"
Seiji frowned as he inquired, "What's with the lecture? You are not one of my educators, Flash." Wally frowned as he crossed his arms behind his head.
"Maybe not, but it is something to at least think about so you're not just leaving people around to get hurt in the middle of the streets." Wally said, shrugging as he leans back. "Could be something to look into when you get back to school for your suit upgrades."
Seiji scoffed a bit as he turns, annoyed as his teacher says, "You shouldn't be so quick to dismiss criticisms towards you when you are going to give them out. That Stain incident is affecting you."
"A criminal affecting me? Preposterous." Seiji objected, but his teacher shook his head. He began to tell him about how Stain wasn't fully wrong, it was mostly his actions that were wrong. Wally couldn't help but listen, frowning but didn't interrupt the talk as it wasn't his business in full.
Down below, the UA kids were doing their own things with heroics; Bakugo found two people who were least concerns and told them to take care of themselves, but when they mentioned he loses points for his attitude he went down and made a rock path for them to climb up on and pointed in the direction of where he saw other heroes before storming off.
Another area Uravity, Creati and others were helping move debris off of an old man carefully; using support staffs that Creati made with her quirk to keep it up while Sugar Man and Uravity carefully moved debris off of him.
Earphone Jack listened for anyone who needed help with her jacks before directing other heroes to look in those areas, while Tentacole using his strength and his eyes to look under debris as Grape Juice used his balls as adhesives to keep debris stabilized for easier movements
Even at a pond, Froppy got people trapped in lakes out of the water for Shoto to heat up with some fire, Invisible Girl giving light to look into darker places with her light ball so others can look in the deeper parts of a cave. Things were going rather smoothly until a large explosion was heard.
"What was that?" Deku asked, still at the first aid area to help move people to areas to sit down. The students all turned and looked in horror at someone standing in a menacing aura; wearing a nice suit, looking down with his beady red eye narrowed was Gang Orca, with an army of goons.
"Oh no, it appears the Legion of Doom has sent their top agent; a villainous fiend from the seas, bent on the subjugation of the surface." Yokumiru announced as Gang Orca gave a soft growl.
"So tell me heroes, Can you save people while fighting off villains? Lets see how well you do, Heroes?" Gang Orca said as he snapped his fingers, the goons running out in droves.
"Even a Pro would have had trouble with this," Shota said with a frown, crossing his arms. "This is going very far,"
"Well, if they do it right, they can really show their mettle." Wally countered, though he was unsure. He hoped their change up in training could help with this situation.
At the first aid station, Deku looks at the others and says, "We need to get out of here! Anyone here see any safe places for these people to hide?"
"I saw a subway tunnel. It looks like it was very stable when I was doing a round with Shindo earlier." Shikkui explained, as Deku nods. He saw several of his classmates arrive with the other HUC people.
"Everyone, get to the subway. Mr. Smith, you saw the way, right?" Deku asked Mr. Smith, who gave a nod. "Then everyone, follow him!"
"Okay, that does sound like a plan." Yo said with a nod, running ahead to where the goons were coming from. "I'll keep them at bay though!" He slams his hands down, creating a vibrational blast towards them to create blasts of earth. He had a small smirk, til he saw something that made his eyes go wide.
Deku was moving people along with some help, Creati helping give people some support with Alien Queen, Uravity and others who had arrived. She also handed out walkie talkies to a few people to help coordinate better.
They then felt a giant icy wave of air as they turned to see Gang Orca standing above Grand, who was knocked out by his vibration attack; which he was using to stop a giant glacier from hitting him. Shoto grunts, glaring at this.
"Hahaha, time to stop these criminals!" A boisterous laugh is heard as Gale Force flies down, sending a giant tornado force wind down at the goons but also knocking away any ice that was set up. Shoto looked up at him as the two crossed glances.
"Well, that should be enough as a distraction for now." Deku said, as he helped move people along as the goons were getting closer. "We need to get rid of them, fast."
"I'm on it." Anima said, coming up as he whistles to the air. "Birds! Help us stop these criminals!" As he called this out, a large swarm of the pigeons from before came down and started to swarm the closest ones, who were shouting in surprise as they were trying to knock them away.
Wally watched this with a smirk as he said, "Good move, Koji. A nice distraction so the civilians can get away." He however frowned when he noticed Shoto and Gale Force arguing, making him raise an eyebrow. "The hell?"
Shoto looks at Orca, who was giving them a small frown as he advances over. The two then try to attack at once, which leads to the fire redirecting itself and the wind to go off course. "Is that all you got?" Gang Orca asked dismissively, raising a brow.
"Why did you use your flames?! You made my wind rise up!" Gale Force asked in annoyance, glaring from the sky as Shoto gave a grunt.
"He did not fall to my ice earlier, but you redirected the heat before it could hit him." He looks up at him as he says, "I got this; go help the civilians get to safety."
"I am not going to let you be the one who gets the glory, Todoroki. You're Endeavor's son, just wanting that instead of actually doing things for the good of it. I can restrain him and his henchmen, so go help your classmates!" Gale Force said, as Todoroki's flame seemed to go up a bit.
However a grunt escapes the dual-toned teen's lips as he felt something impact his right side, which made it harder to focus his ice. "Heh, like my cement gun?" The goon asked, getting Creati's attention as she looked it over. A smirk formed on her face as she moved the civilians away from the unsuspecting henchmen.
"I got an idea," Creati said as she saw Earphone Jack looking around as some others started to come over.
With the civilians, Mr. Smith looks around as he tries to find a way to the subway and finds the path. "It's this way, come on!" He said as several others were helping funnel the injured towards the subway, with Can't Stop Twinkling seeing the enemies coming at them.
"Don mure," He whispered before noticing Invisible Girl running up, taking off her gloves as she did so and handing them off to someone who just stared in confusion. "Madame, what are you-?"
"Aoyama, blast me with your naval laser!" The Invisible Girl said as she stood in front of him. "I'll try and redirect the blast to hit more of these guys in a wave instead of a beam."
"Are you sure?" Can't Stop Twinkling asked as she just gave an affirmative sound as Anima and Tentacole moved people around the two with the help of some of the Shiketsu kids. "Alright," He powers up his laser and fires it out, making Toru grunt as her body started to radiate with the sparkling energy before she moved her arms forward as a large v-shaped cone of light came out of her body like a prism effect, a rainbow of sparkling light funneling out as it hits the goons in a burst; knocking many down.
"Good job!" Sugar Man said, as Can't Stop Twinkling helped get a dazed Invisible Girl along with the others as Grape Juice looked around.
"Where's Midoriya and the others at?" He asked as they shrug, unsure where their more close-range fighters were. He frowned at this but then saw something that got his eye; the framing of the area in front of the street with the subway. "I got an idea,Aoyama, see those buildings? When everyone is far enough away, blast them to make rubble! That should slow down the bad guys!"
Can't Stop Twinkling nods as the rest of the crowd got behind the building as Mineta tossed balls all along the road between the two buildings, including in front of it. They ran back as Aoyama fired at the two buildings, creating more rubble to crash onto the road. The henchmen yell out as they run back, the rubble hitting the sticky spheres; trapping them on the other side as the crowd is moved quickly towards the subway.
With Gang Orca, the giant was watching with annoyance as he was advancing forward. His sidekicks tried to bind down any of the heroes who were left behind, many of them still trying to get civilians out, anyone who wasn't at the first aid station were still easy pickings.
Shoto grunts as he makes another inferno explode on his body; "This should do it!" He fires it out before going wide eyed as another blast of wind redirects it. "Again, seriously?!"
"What is your dea-GAAAAH!" Gale Force yells out in horror as Shoto stared with horrified eyes as the fire was about to hit Yo, who was fearful before a green blur suddenly grabbed him.
"Midoriya?" Shoto asked in shock as Deku moved Yo, with him glaring at them.
"What are you doing!?" the greenette asked in anger as he set Yo down next to Creati, who went to tend to him as Ingenium, Tailman and several others arrived to fend off the henchmen who were heading towards the city proper.
"Okay, no more games!" Gang Orca roars out as his head turns to Gale Force. "First, you." He sends out a blast of vibrational energy into the air, hitting Gale Force dead center due to his shock at almost blasting someone with Todoroki's flames. He then grabs the dual-haired teen and blasts him next, tossing him aside. "Pathetic, squabbling like children when a villain is on the attack,"
He moves on to attack Gale Force, who was still somewhat able to move due to his distance. However, he was unaware of a look of determination in both of their eyes. 'I, can't lose now, not because of a mistake I made!' The two thought simultaneously as both fired an attack once more; this time meeting the middle to create a fire tornado.
"Whoa!" Tailman said as he jumps back, using his bo staff to smash one of their cement guns down into the ground. "That's intense!"
"Still, rather annoying," Yo said, as he staggers to his feet. "I think I can get some of these goons out." Earphone Jack stepped up, getting her hand-amps off with her good jack. "What are you,?"
"I think I can help. You're all about vibrations too, right? So why not tag-team it?" she asked with a smirk as he just grunts but nods, creating more cracks with his own vibrations as she stuck her amp right into the cracks he made. "Heartbeat,Echo!" She sends out a sound wave that bounced off the inner part of the cracked earth, creating a giant burst of echoing noise upward that knocks several of the goons back so Deku and Ingenium can smack them down with their super-fast kicks.
"Hey get back here!" A goon shouts as they chase after Uravity, who was ducking around each cement attack while touching things as she did, keeping their focus on her before she gives a coy little smile.
"Seems I can actually use this move correctly here." She said as she pressed her fingers together. "Release!" The goons were confused as they looked up before panicking as they had to get around the barrage of low-floating stones that were picked up by her quirk. Even picked up some of the ice from Shoto's newly created ice wall after he started the fire tornado with Gale Force.
Deku watched all this with a nod as they saw the Tornado starting to die down. "Impressive, a combo attack like that would have stopped the average villain. However, what do you have," Several eyes went wide as they saw Gang Orca out of the flames, dumping a water bottle on his head to keep himself moist. "When it wasn't enough?"
Shoto and Gale Force's eyes shrink in shock as the giant once more went to move, before a shout is heard; he put his arm up in defense. He grunts as his eyes glare as Deku glares back. "Get away from them!" the green-clad hero shouts.
"Midoriya," Gang Orca grunts before hearing the sound of an engine flying as he turns to see Ingenium rocketing towards him, almost like he was flying as jets of air came out of his gauntlets before he twists in the air.
"Release/Recipro Kick!" Came the combined shout of Ingenium and Uravity as he got his gravity back just in time to send a sweeping rocket kick towards Gang Orca's leg. The giant grunts as he fell forward, but Deku jumped back and landed on the ground, bending forward as Tailman used him as a kickstand, tossing his bo-staff with his tail's added strength to imbed his jacket into the ground.
"Now!" Tailman shouts as when Gang Orca was about to grab at it with one hand, Froppy's tongue entangles his arm.
"It's not wise for so many of you to group together with my power,!" Gang Orca is about to send a blast of sound at them when a different sonic burst wnet around him, making him yell out.
"If I can cancel Present Mic's big mouth, I am pretty sure I can cancel your's out!" Earphone Jack said with a smirk as Gang Orca gave a frustrated look before he saw Ingenium jump from a nearby wall from the corner of his eye.
"Take this!" Ingenium said as sent a kick towards him again, who was able to block it with his free hand but saw his gauntlet crack more as it was the same one that had blocked Deku earlier.
"Nice teamwork," Gang Orca complimented as he went to grab at the bo staff as blasts of cement-like material hit his hand and the staff. "What?" He looks at his men, who were confused before his eye caught Creati, who was tagged with Tsukuyomi tossing goons aside with Dark Shadow.
In the stands, Wally watched with an impressed look on his face. The teamwork they were showing, he felt a twinge of nostalgia in him as he thought back to about 5 or so years ago, back when he was his uncle's protege and part of the Team.
"We're doing it!" Creati said as Uravity went to get Shoto while Chewey went to get Gale Force, helping both stunned teens up. However before they could continue there was an alarm sounding.
"And that is that; the last of the civilians has been taken off the sight. While that was an exciting fight, this is the end of the Provisional License Exam. I am sorry for the anticlimactic ending." Yokumiru apologized over the intercom. "After we tally up the scores, we will show you who has passed this round. Now please, head to the infirmary if any of you are injured and the rest of you get changed and stand by."
The students looked at each other and then several awkward stares went towards Gang Orca, who stood up as he yanks his arm up, easily taking the bo staff out of the earth before flexing his hand, breaking the pseudo-cement off his hands. He then carefully picks up the staff and hands it to Ojiro, who awkwardly thanks him.
"You kids did okay, for a bunch of greenhorns. If you kept up that effort, maybe you could have beaten me." Gang Orca said calmly, giving Shoto and Gale Force a small look before walking off with his men.
"That is a rare compliment, sir. Sorry we didn't get as much done as we could." one of his goons said, as Gang Orca waved it off, looking at the badly damaged gauntlet he was wearing.
"Honestly that fire tornado was a great idea, and then that group effort to take me down on top of it. If it had been a little longer, they would have captured me. That's something I feel certain of," Gang Orca looked up at the stands for a moment before heading back inside.
After some time, the students were back in their school uniforms and waiting in the arena, all standing in front of the large monitor as their teachers were on standby. After sometime, Yokumiru showed the results as Wally read over the names.
He then hears cheering as he sees a good chunk of Class A celebrating except for a very indignant Katsuki and a disappointed Shoto. 'So everyone but those two?' Wally thought in confusion before seeing Inasa's eyes were also downcast, showing he had failed as well. He watched as Inasa gave Shoto a 180 degree bow to apologize.
Wally studied each of the kids but as the result breakdowns were handed out, he heard Yokumiru continue. "Now for those that did pass; remember that these are for emergencies only. Protecting civilians, stopping villains and so forth. This is not something to take lightly, as your actions will reflect towards society. As you know, All Might has lost his power. He scared off a good portion of villains, lessening crime. With him gone, many villains have started to rise up."
'Only one guy? Seriously All Might, what the hell? Even Superman didn't try to carry the entire world on his back back home,' Wally thought, a slight look of concern on his face. He listened as Yokumiru tells the kids who had licenses are one step closer to being heroes, and that the others who failed the second round are able to take a remedial course to make up for it. Much to the relief of many.
After they were done, the students were going in groups to meet up with their teachers as Shoto walked up to Wally and gave a bow to him and Shota. "I am sorry for disappointing you two, I let my anger get the better of me."
"This is bullshit," Katsuki growled, annoyed as Wally looked at the arena still covered with giant cracks everywhere as well as the wrecked up buildings, in thought.
Emi notices Wally's look as she says, "Hey you doing okay over there?" Wally looks at her and then at Shota and the Shiketsu teacher.
"Hey, you guys mind if I do something real quick? Something about how this area is set up is kinda worrying me." Wally said as they shrug, confused. "Bring the students with, it may help them out too." The teachers motion their students along to follow, much to many of their confusion.
After a little talk with Yokumiru, Wally got everyone to the roof with him in tow, the man yawning in his exhaustion as they looked at the arena below. "Hmm,so there's nothing to cover this area? No glass roof or anything?"
"Not usually, why?" Yokumiru asked as Wally did a look around before turning to Denki, Eijirou and Katsuki.
"You three were the ones who beat the meatball kid, right?" The three nod as Wally motions to the layout below them. "Where would you say you were at?"
The three walked up as they looked around, two of them a little baffled since they couldn't tell but one of them was more observant. "About, there." Katsuki points in that direction. "Why? What's the big deal?"
"So we have an open area, during a time when super criminals are on the loose and targeting the hero schools?" Wally asked, a little confused at this. They looked at him as Wally gave a sigh, "Okay, imagine if you will, those villains hire an assassin to do some damage. Killing heroes to be in a public setting. Now, in that hypothetical spot, say they saw what Seiji was doing. What would happen?"
That made many go pale as their blood ran cold at that realization before Seiji walked up, scowling. "You cannot know that for certain as that has not happened."
"Because we're lucky that the villains seem to be in hiding. If they weren't, that would be a big possibility. Well coordinated villains tend to work pretty well in that regard. Trust me, as someone who had to work black ops for the Justice League, I speak from experience." WAlly explained as Seiji scowled, but stepped back after Inasa pulled him back.
"Any other reason you asked for us to come up here besides that?" Shota asked, walking up to Wally in a calm manner. "Something to do with some of the choices they made?"
"Yeah, I am gonna guess that some of you messed up on the civilian end of things? Trying to get them I mean." Wally saw many nods at this, while Katsuki only scowled in annoyance. "Okay, time for some perspective. Hey Kyoka, Mezo. Which of you would say has the best hearing?"
The two looked at each other as Mezu only gave a soft shrug, "I can hear pretty far but I don't have a pinpoint effect. I say Jiro's ears are stronger if they are connected to things though."
"Hmm," Wally walks over to her and turns her to look towards the city. "Okay, this is something I remember a friend of mind doing with his training for his own super hearing. You sense vibrations with those jacks, right?"
"Yeah?" Kyoka asked, a little confused as Wally stepped back and snapped his fingers as she gave a nod, "Yeah I heard that,so?"
"Okay, focus the jacks in the direction of the wider city. Just, I dunno, listen for a rhythm or something. Something to focus on." Wally said with a shrug as Kyoka raised a brow before closing her eyes to focus.
She waited for a moment, her jacks pointed up towards the city as she felt the wind against the tips. She squinted her eyes as she listened to the faint sounds that are coming from all around her; the sound of people walking and talking, the sounds of their cars, the noise of outdoor vendors making their food, etc.
"Okay,I think I got it," Kyoka said as she suddenly got jolted away, and she hears nothing? She opens her eyes in surprise and sees she was turned back towards the arena and heard nothing in the wreckage. She shivered a bit, the sudden silence creeping her out.
"Yeah, what you heard is likely a lower-key version of what Superman hears all day. What you heard are people living their lives if I had to hazard a guess, right?" seeing Kyoka nod, Wally turned to the others. "See, that's what heroes have to protect. People who are just trying to live their lives. Doesn't matter if you're a public icon like All Might or someone who does sneakier things like Eraserhead, it's all about your intentions."
"You actually sound like you are speaking with a bit of authority here, something happened back on your Earth?" Shota asked, looking at WAlly as the speedy hero sighed, shrugging a bit.
"Just, something I learned the hard way." Wally said with a small shrug as they all headed downstairs, all thinking over what he said as Wally stood back with Shota. "You know, will admit, I think I'm getting the hang of this teaching thing."
"Don't get cocky; you've only been at it for a week at most. Just remember things are only going to get harder from here." Shota said as the students were given their licenses while the ones going for the remedial courses were signing up. "Don't try and think it'll get easier after this."
"Oh come on, Shota. Got a real-deal from the Justice League. I think I can handle whatever these kids give out." Wally said, a small cheeky smirk on his face. "'Sides, I think I get what you meant earlier about being proud of them. That was a really big clutch moment there."
"Agreed, they shouldn't slack off on their training, and that means you need to step it up as a teacher to keep this momentum going. Don't get too laxed and don't do anything like that bridge fiasco again." WAlly just groaned at that reminder, already remembering the glare of authority from All Might after that.
"Thanks for the pep talk, Shota, should make your own 'inspirational calendar' series." Wally muttered with a scowl, as Shota just had a small smirk on his face as they waited, leaving in the afternoon.
Izuku, after talking with Ochaco, notices Nagamasa and Inasa. He then runs over, getting his notebook out of his backpack. "Hey! Shiketsu! I want to ask something; how did you guys learn that stealth technique that one girl used? What kind of training is that?"
"What? We didn't cover that kind of training." Nagamasa said, confused. Izuku blinked in shock but then looked down, as if thinking about it.
",What about that girl with the big lips? She said she could do it," Izuku said, confused as Nagamasa thought over what he said.
"Big lips? Oh, you mean Utsumichi. She said she wasn't feeling well, so she called a cab home. Honestly she was acting weird all day," Nagamasa said, which Wally caught. His eyes widened a bit.
'SHIT!' Wally thought, now nervous as he quickly goes to Shota, who was walking away from Emi, as he whispers, "We may need to make sure that the other schools weren't compromised. Also, mind if I get my hands on the files you got on the League of Villains? I'd appreciate it."
"At least you're stepping up, so that's good. I'll show you what we know about them." Shota said with a small nod as Wally looked around, concern clear on his face. Trying to make sure no one suspicious was nearby.
(Alleyway far off from the stadium. 18:40)
Giggling to herself in the alley, Camie was walking down an alleyway before hearing her phone go off. "Yello?" she asked casually, giggling a bit as liquid from her face started to peel away.
"You finally picked up! Toga, we've been waiting for hours. Where are you, and what are you doing?" A male voice asked on the other end, the girl giggling as her true face was revealed; a crazed golden-eyed young woman, about 16-17 in age, with curly unkempt blond buns on each side of her head with two long sharp bangs.
The girl, Himiko Toga, giggled as she said, "I just had the most fun I've ever had! I got some of Izuku's blood!" She giggles with perverse glee, looking at a small droplet she was able to collect. "Though he gave my nose a bit of a bruise earlier, which wasn't very nice." She said this with a pouty tone. "But Tomura's gonna be so happy!"
As she walked down the alley, a sudden sharp noise filled the air as she covered her ear. "Toga, what was that!? Was there a bomb that went off!?" the voice on the other end exclaimed in shock, hearing the sound as Toga's eyes looked behind her as her eyes widened; a swirling orange vortex opening right in front of her.
"What the hell!?" Himiko exclaimed in shock as she jumped backwards. She watched someone walk out of the vortex; a humanoid figure standing at about 5 '11, face obscured in the sunset's warm amber glow as the portal shut behind him.
The man looked around before noticing Himiko, who was quick to unsheath a knife from a hidden compartment on her clothes. "There be no reason for such hostility, faire maiden. I am but a humble man, wishing to come to an agreement. You have been in contact with a criminal front, yes?"
",Who's asking?" the young woman asked, a small growl escaping her lips as the man's obscured face turned into a small smirk, his goatee framing his face rather sinisterly.
"I have gone by many names, but I think I got one that can fit this area quite well. Call me, Kanto." The newly introduced Kanto said, taking her hand with the knife and giving it a small kiss. "Now, I wish to talk business, if that is alright with you."
That earned him a poke in the neck from Toga's knife, the blade pressed against his skin. "Touch me without permission again, and I cut your jugular out." The girl hissed in rage, but soon noticed her hand was empty. She looks in shock as she sees Kanto twirling her knife in the air before throwing it into a wall to imbed it.
"Now, as I said, there is no need for that. Now I ask again, who is your leader, madam?" Kanto asked firmly, his eyes seeming to glow golden in the alleyway. Himiko felt a strong pressure from this man, making her a little on edge.
"What do you mean?" Himiko inquired, her hand shaking a bit as she saw the figure look down at her with a calm gaze.
"My associates and I have been tapping into signals to try and find the strongest force for a potential partnership. I hope this will work out as a business transaction." He said calmly, as Himiko stroked her chin.
"Hmm,okay, come with me. I'll take you to my boss. But if you try anything funny, you're dead meat." She said as she went to pull her knife out, but saw it's stuck. She starts to tug but can't get it out, making her frustrated. The man calmly walks over and pulls it out effortlessly. "Uh, thanks,"
"You are quite welcome, milady. Now, lead the way." Kanto said kindly, giving a small flourish as she walks on ahead of this weird man. Something about him was off, but she couldn't place it.
