Olly watched from a live video created by malice as the hylian obliterated Colored Pencils. He stared, shocked as the person easily pulled his sword out of Colored Pencils' case as it exploded, the drawing it scribbled all over the town vanishing.
"Your minion failed, Olly." Ganon spoke, staring straight through him with those yellow eyes as bright as floodlights.
"You never told me how powerful his opponent would be!" King Olly snapped. "How was I supposed to know?" Ganon grumbled and said, "You clearly haven't fought a war before, have you? War is about strategy and planning ahead, both which you lack..." Olly kept his composure, not wanting to explode in rage in front of a being that could end him with a simple cough he if so wished. Instead, Olly thought of how to catch this nuisance off-guard.
"Where are they heading to?" He asked.
"It appears they are returning to their pitiful castle." Ganon snarled.
"Good." Olly said, smiling. He glanced to a dark corner in the room. "Is everything ready for you special mission? It appears it is happening early."
"Yes, my lord." A voice said from the shadows, malice spiraling upwards from the thing. "The hylian fools know not what awaits them."
LAKESIDE STABLE...
Link gently forced the bit into the mouth of Epona, a horse named after the horse of legend. After finishing tacking up his horse, Link hoisted himself up and looked a Princess Zelda, who had borrowed a horse from a passing soldier. Olivia sat just behind the princess and was looking at the majestic animal with awe. Link kicked his horse, getting him to move in a fast walk. Zelda followed behind him and the two set off for Hyrule Castle. After a long ride, they approached the gates of castle town. There was a battle happening and Link stopped Epona as a soldier an up to them.
"Your highness, it isn't safe for you here. Something has attacked us and it's no regular monster!" Link jumped down from Epona and Oliva raced to his side. Link scanned the battlefield to see bokoblins, moblins and some lizalfos. No surprise there.
"Wait, Link!" Oliva said, nudging the hero's face before pointing. "Look!" Link turned to see a guardian but something was...off. It looked more thin and Link swore he could see the silhouette of metal bars behind the machine's armor.
"That's one of those things but it's….paper?" Olivia said. Link drew his sword and motioned for Zelda to stay. Instead she jumped down and summoned the Bow of Light, a sacred weapon that fired bolts of light that could obliterate evil.
"No, Link. this time, I'll join you." She said. Link nodded. After all they've been through, Link trusted that the princess could hold her own for a bit, even if she wasn't much of a fighter. Link ran down the hill into castle town and attacked, slicing down monster after monster.
"LOOK!" A soldier shouted. "The knight and the princess are here to lead us to victory!" The battlefield erupted in cheers as Link brought his sword down on a lizalfos, a lizard like monster that uses spears to attack. The hero set his sights on the strange guardian and ran over to it. He dodged a swing from one of it's legs and sliced the guardian. The Master Sword bounced harmlessly off of the guardian and Link went wide eyed in shock.
"How?!" He thought. "Shouldn't it be damaged?!" Olivia zoomed past the guardian and gasped. She went closer to the guardian and pulled on something. Link blocked a laser beam with his shield and saw Olivia fly backwards, a small purple circle in her hand. The guardian froze for a second as a small white flag with a frowny face popped up on the top of it's head with a DING! It charged at Link and he jumped to the side, making another attempt to destroy it. This time it worked. The sword cut through the guardian's body and scraps of paper exploded from the hole, revealing a set of thin metal wires inside. The guardian fired a laser and Link shield parried it with ease, sending it into a horde of monsters. He ran up to one of the small holes in the guardian and jumped inside. He started stabbing random spots, cutting holes in the thing's papery body, before slicing the guardian's head off. Link jumped out as the guardian exploded, shooting scraps of paper everywhere. Suddenly, a stream of light whizzed past Link's ear and he turned to see a glowing arrow embedded in the eye of a regular guardian, Link looked back to see Zelda, bow drawn, staring at Link. The hero nodded in thanks and went back to slicing down monsters. Soon the monsters retreated and the hylian army cheered. Link sheathed his sword and saw Zelda speaking to a hylian captain. The hero looked around at the army, which mostly consisted of former farmers, traders and shopkeepers, most of which never held a sword. He smiled, proud of what this army had become. Maybe there was hope for Hyrule's old military after all. Oliva bumped into Link, who turned to see the little paper girl floating around blindly, trying to remove a sticker on her face. Link peeled it off and Olivia gasped and panted, "Thank you." Olivia looked at the sticker and said, "That has my brother's face on it! And that was on that paper machine!"
"But that is from our world." Zelda said, walking over to the two. Before anyone could say anything else, a soldier shouted, "Look out!" a blur shot through a line of soldiers, sending armor, weapons and bodies flying. It zipped past Link and charged straight through the gate. The guards their dove out of the way as the blur shot up and flew over the gate. He plowed through a group of soldiers and shot up into the air like a rocket, smashing into the sanctum at the top of the castle. Most of the soldier attacked by the thing got up with some injuries and damaged armor. Most. A hylian captain ran up to Zelda and asked, "My lady, are you alright?"
"Get some people to help the wounded NOW!" Zelda ordered. The captain nodded and ran away.
"Wha-what was that?" Olivia asked shakily. Zelda turned to Link and said, "We have to get to the sanctum! There could still be people in there!" Link nodded and ran towards the gate. After a long run to the top of the castle, Link saw something standing in the sanctum. Zelda and Olivia exchanged looks as Link slowly entered the room. Instantly, the thing shot out and, if it weren't for Link's quick reflexes, almost sliced the hylian champion in two. It made a wide arc in the air and landed in front of Link, Zelda and Olivia.
"Hmph." It said. "Well dodged….for a flesh bag." The thing had a long sharp blade that could split in two and two green handles at the top.
"Hold up." Olivia said, cowering behind Zelda. "Olly is sending a pair of scissors now?!"
The scissors turned to Olivia and said, "Ah, yes. King Olly's sister. Once I finish off these flesh bags, I, The Duel Bladed Duelist, Scissors, shall escort you to King Olly personally." Zelda pointed at something on Scissors and gasped.
"Malice." She said, pointed at the tendrils of black and red smoke emitting from the handles and spiraling upwards.
"Ah yes. Olly's new friend gave me some new powers but enough talk." Scissors said, jumping on its handles and snapping it's blades menacingly. "Let's CUT to climax! HA HA HA!" It launched itself at Link, who rolled out of the way as his shield was knocked out of his hand, tumbling off the cliff and into the waters below. Scissors turned back to Link and split its blades in half. It jabbed at Link and occasionally swung itself at the hero's feet. Link parried and dodged those and charged. He bounced onto Scissors blades and swung the Master Sword, which glowed a bright blue, into it's left handle. When the sacred blade hit, the malice was sucked into the blade and a loud CRACK was heard. Scissors found Link off to reveal a massive, jagged crack where the blade struck. "You call that a hit?" Scissors scoffed. He made several jabbing motions and Link was forced to go on the defensive. At this point, several Hylian soldiers ran over to Zelda and began to escort her away from the battle when a horde of bokoblins, flesh and paper alike, appeared in a plume of malice. The two forces engaged as a lone soldier rushed Zelda into the sanctum, Olivia following them. Scissors shot up into the air until it flew so high it rivaled the Rito champion, Revali, in his skill of flight. Scissors shot down and Link dove to the side as the massive arts and crafts tool smashed through the ground. Link looked through the hole to see Scissors smashing its way into the Dining hall. It was baiting Link, this he knew, but Link jumped down and followed anyway, using his paraglider to soften his landing. He ran through the hole in the wall and saw Scissors finishing off an unlucky group of guards. Scissors turned to its opponent, malice spewing from it's right handle, as Link charged. Scissors tried to slice Link in two but he jumped up and once again swung at Scissor's left handle. This time, however, when the Master Sword struck, the top part of the handle came flying off, crashing into a banquet table. Scissor lurched back and said, "Agh! Heh….maybe you know something about fighting after all..." It closed it's blades again began to spin rapidly in a circle. Link stared back, shifting his position slightly. All was quite, except for the sound of Scissors spinning and the distant sound of battle above. After what seemed like forever, Scissors charged, still spinning, at Link. Link stayed still, watching at the massive cutting tool rapidly approached him. Link held his sword in the center and lifted it up. If Link messed up, he would be doomed. Scissors, laughing victoriously, opened up his blades so each could hit Link in his side. Just before Scissors could finish his opponent, Link ran forward and brought his sword down with a shout. Scissors was sliced down the middle and his two halves rushed past Link, out the Dining hall and over the cliff. Link ran to the cliff's edge to see Scissors crash into the water and sink below. Link looked up at the hole in the path above and jumped up, using Revali's Gale, the sacred power of Revali given to Link once he freed the rito's spirit from the grasp of Ganon, to boost himself to the top. Link saw that the monsters were being pushed back and raced to the sanctum. But instead of finding Zelda, Olivia and the hylian soldier, Link found the soldier, dead on the floor, with the princess and Olivia nowhere to be seen.
A/N: Okay, I'm back to writing and that unexpected time off of this website is over. Whoops.
