TW: Magic spell and a Dream sequence
"Wait, you've never had a dream before?" Shannon stared at Ink in disbelief, the cheese from her pizza slowly sliding off.
"Mhmm. Virgo, that's Alphys from Outertale, said it probably had something to do with my lack of a soul. That caused a problem with Dream not being able to contact me through dreams so he had to do some work arounds for long distance communication." Shannon started mumbling something about how Dream was the yellow one that needed a bit of therapy before a familiar shine returned to her eyes.
"You have a soul now, correct?"
"…Shannon-"
"Hear me out! I know that dreaming is kind of random and you don't really do it every night, but I know a spell that can guarantee a dream filled slumber. That way you can reach out to Dream!" Ink could feel a smile creep up onto his face and his soul grow warmer.
Ink couldn't decide between the two blankets that Shannon had offered him. One was a patchwork of different work of art that was absolutely stunning, but the other was a deep shade of blue. The shade was reminiscent of Errors strings and the things he would make with them, like the beanbags that littered his house. He got awfully hot at night and knew he would only be able to stand one, but it was such a hard decision. He wanted to marvel at the art work, really study the different brush strokes and techniques that the artist had used, but the blue was so comforting, so familiar, that he almost wanted to cry. Eventually he stole his eyes away from the art and buried his face in the soft blue fabric. If he concentrated enough, he could almost imagine that it was Errors beanbags, that this was all just a bad dream and he would wake up soon.
That wishful thinking was demolished when he heard Shannon calling him downstairs. He must have been sitting there for a while since she appeared to have finished the spell. Putting the blanket around his shoulders, he quickly ran down.
The glowing liquid swirled in the cup. Ink held it while Shannon explained how the potion would work.
"Get it bed, all curled up and ready to fall asleep, but sitting upright enough to drink this. You'll fall asleep in about a minute so hurry and set the cup on the nightstand." Then lay down. Do whatever you need to to summon Dream, or whatever, and you should be good!" Shannon gave him a pat on the shoulders before starting to clean things up. "I'll be heading to bed shortly as well. Wake me up if you need anything, and have a good dream!" Ink nodded and slowly walked upstairs. It was almost surreal, he was going to talk to Dream, he was going to start working on a plan home.
Ink sat up in a patch of small, white flowers. He looked around and saw yellow roses everywhere. Is this what a dream is like? It's more floral then I would have thought. Ink rose to his feet and tried to remember if Dream had mentioned any extra instructions for contacting him when a watery gasp alerted Ink. Spinning around, Dream stood right across from Ink in the patch of white flowers.
