I personally like every character both Night Raid and Jaeger. I don't hold grudge against any character. I believe that the characters like Seryu are victims of the circumstances they were put in. Seryu could have been a different person if her father wasn't assassinated and wasn't so blind. I have reasons to believe that she does indeed have mental problems nothing about the obvious psychotic behavior of hers. I mean from a Clinical perspective I have reasons to believe she has a degree of Autism. Some of its symptoms are hyperactivity, hyperfocus like how she's so focused on justice that she can't differ from good and bad. Another scenario was that one when the jaegers had to change outfits to protect that guy named Bolic in the Way of Peace headquarters who they had to protect. Difficulty in adapting to changes is another symptom. When Esdeath asked her to stop focusing so much on her duty and go play with the children, yet another symptom, of the inability to relate to children was overcome thanks to her high obedience to her commander and it made her feel much better too. Oversensitive or undersensitive to touch such as that scene when she kills those guys who stole food and wave touched her should she acted really weird. I could mention more like impulsivity etc but these are more than enough. Her view of Night Raid remembers me a bit of that saying, one's hero might be another's villain. She always fell to the worst possible guidance like Ogre and Esdeath.

Minister Honest was shown to be a very corrupt guy from start. He differently from Seryu and Esdeath wasn't given any background or anything that makes him anything redeemable at all. But what can stop him from being just another Long Feng from the Avatar the Last Airbender? a pitiful guy who had nothing and had to struggle and connive to claw their way to power. I'm not defending this guy in the least or anything. Nothing justifies what he has done not forgetting that he was also a fucking cannibal. What I'm trying to say is that no one is born evil but the decisions they take affect those around them and reality will catch up to them someday. People won't just stand down seeing such vile acts run amok.

And now about Esdeath... well she could have been an amazing character if wasn't for the moment when Tatsumi asks her about herself and she states that she was always like that a lover of torture. Unfortunately, the author wanted to be a villain until the end with no redeemable qualities whatsoever. Her sadistic nature is clearly a way to satisfy her need for excitement through wars. But the way her whole character was displayed makes me think of her as a psychopath... one could argue that psychopaths are people who don't care about anyone but themselves and that she wasn't shown like that. But let me remind you of scenes when their comrades die she only thinks of it as a waste of potential and when the Empire fell even when there was a possibility of Honest and the Emperor still being alive she simply thought that they wouldn't have anything to offer her anymore. With the downfall of the Empire, Honest wouldn't be of any use anymore to offer any more battlefields for her to enjoy. I believe that she wouldn't change at this point in her life unless she was brainwashed but I do believe that if someone offered her a better proposal that keeps her entertained with more battles for her enjoyment she would immediately accept to defect. But in a place where people want to stop wars at all costs, it was simply not a world for her. Who knows maybe if her father wasn't so saddened by the death of his wife his belief in survival of the fittest wouldn't be so much to the core. Maybe because of that he didn't bother with Esdeath's growing ruthlessness and only cared that the same that happened to his wife wouldn't happen to his daughter and only bothered to teach her about survival and completely forgot to teach her about things like the value of life and what love really means. But things are the way they are. Not all things go the way we want.

So I wanted to know your verdicts. Are these fine? each character got their due chances? what about the last ones that remain such as Akame, Emperor, Chelsea and Run? any opinions?
