The Joy of Motherhood
"No one asked you to come back into my life!" said Yang. "I've been just fine without you!"
"Listen Yang," said Raven. "Your father insisted I try to spend more quality time with you, so you can at least show me some respect for trying!"
"And who was it that told me simply trying wasn't good enough?"
"I never said that to you!"
"I know, because you were never there for me!"
Raven was about to lash out at Yang for constantly reminding Raven about how she abandoned the family for her own selfish reasons but remembered the promise she made to Taiyang about attempting to remedy all her wrongdoings and calmed herself down.
"Okay, so I've been away from you for...ever," said Raven. "Can you at least give me a chance to be the mother you've always wanted and make up for lost time?"
"It's one thing to make up for lost time," said Yang, "but what you're doing now is unforgivable!"
"How is what I'm doing unforgivable? Is this not what mothers do with their children?"
"Yeah, but I'm a full-grown woman now!"
Yang tried with all her might to break free, but no matter what she did, she couldn't get out of the grocery cart Raven had placed her in.
"I don't need to be put in the child safety seat!"
"Hey," said Raven, "I'm still trying to get the hang of this motherhood thing, all right?! Besides, you act like a child anyway!"
"I want out NOW!" yelled Yang, kicking and screaming to be let out of the cart. Running out of patience, Raven forced Yang to sit still and give her a stern talking to.
"Now you listen to me, young lady!" yelled Raven. "You will sit your butt down and behave yourself or you can forget about getting a Jolly Meal on the way home!"
"Fine!" pouted Yang, folding her arms and looking away. "But only because I want the toy that comes with it!"
With Yang settling down, Raven finished grocery shopping and stood in line, standing behind another middle-aged woman dealing with her own obnoxious brat.
"Cinder!" said Mercury. "I want candy!"
"For the last time Mercury I said NO!" said Cinder.
"But Cinder-"
"ENOUGH, Mercury! One more word out of you and we are going straight home!"
"NO FAIR!" cried Mercury. "YOU NEVER LET ME HAVE ANYTHING!"
Mercury continued to cry and howl to the annoyance of everyone at the grocery store.
"The joy of motherhood," muttered Cinder.
Better Henry
Weiss was in the student lounge of Atlas Academy with the Happy Huntresses when Neptune decided to pay a surprise visit.
"Hey Weiss!" said Neptune. "Long time no see!"
"Hello, Neptune!" said Weiss. "It's great to see you again! Everyone, this is my friend Neptune."
"Hello, ladies! It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Better Henry," said May Marigold.
"Um...why did you just call me 'Better Henry?'"
"It's because you look and sound like Henry, only I assume you're a much better person than he is."
"...who the heck is Henry?" asked a confused Neptune.
"It's a long story," said Weiss.
Where's Oscar?
"And then he was all like, 'I don't think anyone's seen stories like the ones we're gonna tell.'" said Ruby.
"Talk about unoriginality," said Weiss. "What's this show called anyway?"
"I think it was called-"
"Hey girls," interrupted Jaune. "Have any of you seen Oscar?"
"Wasn't he with you all day?" asked Ruby.
"Yeah, but I turned around for one second and suddenly he was gone! My team's been trying to find him all day!"
"Have you tried calling him?" asked Weiss.
"No."
"Texting him?" asked Blake.
"No."
"Shouting his name real loud?" asked Yang.
"I thought about doing that, but then everyone would look at me weird. I don't know what to do!"
"You mean aside from the obvious suggestions we just mentioned?" replied Weiss.
"Sounds like Oscar is in trouble!" said Ruby. "All right Team RWBY, time for us to go searching for-"
"Hey everyone!" suddenly greeted Oscar, his clothes completely covered in dirt. "You will NOT believe the day I had!"
"Oscar!" said Jaune. "Thank goodness you're okay! And why you all covered in dirt?"
"To make a long story short, I got trapped in a Dust mine, but I found my way out eventually by tapping into those magic powers Ozpin told me about. It was a pretty exciting adventure!"
As Oscar was patting the dirt off his clothes, a Grimm mask belonging to the White Fang suddenly fell out of his pocket, catching Blake's attention.
"Where did you get that mask?!" asked Blake.
"Oh, that?" said Oscar. "It was given to me by some ex-White Fang member I bumped into. They initially wanted to kill me, but we ended up having a meaningful conversation about human-Faunus relations instead."
Before Blake can ask how Oscar was somehow able to do that, his scroll suddenly ringing with an incoming call.
"Hello?" answered Oscar. "Oh, hey Team ABRN! ...you found Miss Malachite's shipping cartel? Great! Good luck bringing those crooks down once and for all!"
"Team ABRN?" said Yang. "How do you know them?"
"Funny story about that! So during those two weeks after you saved Haven, I went back to the academy and-"
"Well look who finally arrived!" suddenly yelled Cardin. "It's about time you showed up, kid!"
"What are you doing here, Cardin?!" asked Jaune.
"I came to pay a visit to my little buddy over here!"
Jaune and the others were ready to defend Oscar from Cardin's bullying when Oscar simply walked up to Cardin with a smile on his face.
"Sorry I'm late, Cardin!" said Oscar. "How goes the friendship bracelets?"
"All finished!" said Cardin, pulling out a bracelet to give Oscar. "What do you think?"
"Perfect! Everyone is going to enjoy them!"
"I hope so. I have a feeling everyone is just going to reject them because...you know..."
"Cardin, it's all in the past," said Oscar, placing a hand on Cardin's shoulder. "You're not the same one-dimensional bully from Beacon. You're a new man and it's time to show the world you've changed!"
"Thanks, Oscar," said Cardin, pumping Oscar's fist.
"Wait, what?!" said Jaune. "Since when did Cardin become a good guy?!"
"Since we sat down and discuss the mental trauma he's been through the past few years," said Oscar. "I think he's shown a remarkable amount of character development." Oscar's scroll went off again, this time reminding him of an upcoming appointment. "Oops! I need to go! I'm helping Neptune get over his hydrophobia!"
Oscar put on his swimming goggles and headed off to meet up with Neptune, leaving Jaune and Team RWBY to remain dumbfounded by everything that just happened.
"Wow," said Weiss. "Oscar seems to do a lot of interesting things when nobody's looking."
"Yeah," said Yang. "If only we were around him more often to witness it ourselves."
"Does anyone else get the feeling we should have been the ones doing all that stuff?" asked Ruby.
"Speaking of being around, where's Ozpin?" asked Jaune. "We haven't seen him since we came to Atlas."
"Oh...you haven't heard? He ended up developing an addiction to social media. It's...not pretty."
Earlier, outside Professor Ozpin's office
"Professor Ozpin?" asked Ruby. "Don't you think you should come out and-"
"NOT NOW, RUBY!" yelled Ozpin behind his office door. "I need to lecture this idiot on Squawker about his incorrect opinions!"
"Wouldn't it just be easier to block them and-?"
"NO! I NEED TO HUNT THEM DOWN, RUBY! YOU DON'T REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT OF A BURDEN THIS IS!"
Present
"Yeah...I don't think we'll be seeing him again for a while," said Ruby.
