You may not realize it, but I've given you hints about her dad. You'll see what I mean.

Luz knocked on her father's bedroom door. Over the past few days, she has become more like her old self. There was still more to go, but it was a good first step.

"Dad? Are you in there?" Luz asked.

Luz didn't hear a response so she opened the door.

"Dad?"

She looked around didn't see it her dad. She looked around the room and saw nearly a dozen pictures. She grabbed one that brought a smile to her face. It was her parents on their wedding day and of course they had to put a bow tie on baby Luz. Still, it was cute that her dad had her in a baby carrier with him. Her dad in his black suit, her mom in a white dress, and her with a bow tie, what a great family. Her mom never told her why she never got to meet her dad, but she told her that one day, they could be a family. Shame she couldn't keep that promise. Luz has caught her mom looking at a picture and saying "I'm sorry" in Spanish several times, but never would say anything. The only thing her mom would tell her was that she loved him and every minute with him, was magical.

"I miss you, Mami. I'm sorry if I let you down." Luz said, putting the picture down, "I wish I could see you again. Espero hacerte sentir orgulloso."

Luz looked through the other pictures and saw the last picture with her in them was her fourth birthday. Somehow, at the age of four, she acted half that. Her face was covered in cake and she was in an otter onesie. Luz thought back to her fourteenth birthday and realized that somethings never change. She looked at the pictures and saw one of her mom sitting on the bed while pregnant. She was laughing and Luz saw something poke out from the wardrobe. It was sharp and white and gold. Luz, curiosity got the better of her, and she walked over to it. She doubted that it was in there, whatever it was, but opened it anyways. She saw the item and gasped. It was a staff, not just any staff, one she's seen before. She started walking backwards, trying to not panic, there was a logical explanation, right? Her foot stepped on something and she looked down. She grabbed the item and it was a mask. A mask with a crack against its eye... a crack that she put there with an ice glyph.

"N-n-no... no, that's not possible." She said.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard glass shatter.
