'Old road to new places'
Domi got to the cafeteria and got himself some 'food' if you can call: a piece of chocolate cake, what looked like an abomination of all kinds of meat thrown onto a plate and covered in chocolate sauce, and a glass bottle with no label(knowing Domi it's vodka, snaps or any other kind of water looking, high alcoholic substance).
He noticed Jauney and his team, alongside team RWBY, eating at the far end of the cafeteria at a wall. He made his way to them and made himself some room beside his brother, pushing him to the left.
With an annoyed grunt, Jaune gave in and slid to his left, before stating ''How was your date, give me every dirty detail…'' then he looked towards Ruby before turning back to Domi and continuing ''or not, we don't want Ruby to hear all the dirty thing you two did!'' stated Jaune with a teasing tone in his voice, and a shit-eating grin on his face.
''We talked…'' stated Domi, receiving a look from Jaune, a confused expression from Yang, the rest of the crew was not concerned. ''That's it.'' Added Domi.
''I thought you were more fun, lover boy.'' Stated Yang.
Jaune now with a worried expression, looked to yang and spoke ''Yang… this is serious… Domi doesn't talk about himself, us, or our past, because it brings back bad, bad memories… If he talked, that means he trusts Coco, like really real trusts her! He would never talk about stuff like that to a random flic, I think he is serious with her.'' Stated a worried-looking, confused and awestruck Jaune.
Yang, after hearing that looked at Domi, he was eating his meat/chocolate sauce abomination with only a knife. She looked at Jaune and asked ''Can he be serious at all? I mean look at what he's eating!'' she stated.
Domi looked at Yang and stated ''I am serious enough when it comes to it, and my taste in food is fine!'' he explained.
''Sure… but seriously, what do you mean he's serious with that girl and it's not just a flic?'' asked Yang.
Jaune exhaled and started explaining ''Me and Domi, we never had a home after we lost everything, we had some safe houses where we could rest up, but nothing we could stay permanently, so we were almost always on the move, we never stayed long, so we never had time for relationships. Domi had some flic in the past, but nothing serious… but now… we are at Beacon, we will be here for a long time… I think he's actually trying this time, he sees her as more than a flic. Or he sees her as an emotional crutch, that could be possible as well, more likely might I say… and I was already getting my hopes to be best man.'' Stated Jaune, with a sight of relive and disappointment.
The crew was listening to that statement, and Noone was brave enough to speak up, mostly because they didn't know what to say… then Ruby spoke up ''Is that a good thing or…?'' she asked shly.
''The goods know, but they are silent. I don't know if it's the right thing, but that he's opening up to someone else than me, can only be good right?'' he explained, receiving noods of agreement from the crew.
''What did you tell her anyway?'' asked Jaune.
''My state of fear and the story of my scar, as well as a little of losing everything.'' Stated Domi in a calm tone taking a sip from the bootle.
Jaune was out of it, he told her that much… this had to be a dream, he would have… would he? He was completely out of it, scared, a little angry, worried… ''Domi… are you good?'' asked Jaun in a worried tone.
Jaune state of distress got the attention of the crew, they were wondering what is going on.
After a moment of complete, utmost silence Domi spoke up. ''Yes… I'm good. I was something new to talk about it to someone else than you, but it wasn't bad… but I can't say it was good either… it's just, I think Coco isn't the type of person to leave someone in a bad state, I felt that I could tell her, I felt she cared, I think I may be the right thing to do.'' Stated Domi in a calm Tome.
''So you told her all your dirty secrets?'' asked Yang, trying to break the silence that came after Domis's statement.
Domi smirked ''Hah… I didn't even scratch the surface of the iceberg…'' he explained.
''Just how much did you two go thru?'' asked a worried Ruby.
''A lot, more than any man could or should go thru.'' Stated Jaune.
''OK, listen up, enough of our past, we can talk all about it somewhere private, when Coco has time, I don't want to explain all of it twice. We are going to explain what you need to know when the time comes. But until then, let's talk business. Jaune, Ruby… how're the upgrades doing?'' stated Domi.
''The collapsable shield/crossbow is in its making, I made sure to make it compact enough to fit onto his arm but big enough that the shield form has enough coverage. The crossbow mode has an auto string tensioning, as you suggested. It will dramatically increase firing speed. I must say your idea was really good, how did you come up with it if I may ask?'' stated an excited Ruby Rose.
''Just like every really good idea, I get… from a dream.'' Stated Domi.
''That's cool, what about your weapons, you said something about mech shifting your shotguns?'' she asked basically vibrating at this point.
''I plan on making both mech shift. One into a machete/sword type of blade hybrid, the other perhaps into an axe hybrid. I will see about the second after I see the first one in action. And before you ask how exactly I will shift them, I will turn the handles straight into a 45 degree, so It can turn to a straight with the barrel, basically turning the handle to a sword grip. The machete one, I will have two parts of the blade on aithe side of the barrel, that will bombine when activated, going gown and forward forming the blade. While in its blade form it will still be able to fire. Putting it simple the mele form will be basicaly a bayoneted shotgun. I will also paint it a combination of black and probably dark green as ascends.'' Explained Domi finally exhaling and taking a deep breath.
''That… sounds… amazing! I can't wait to help you make it. Can we go tonight, we can do an all-nighter.'' Stated Ruby.
''Nope'' stated Domi stretching the p.
''Awww'' was the sound Ruby made, when Yang dragged her back to her Seat.
''No all-nighters for you sis. You had enough work today. Tomorrow is enough time to work, it's not like their life depends on it.'' Stated Yang.
''A mans/huntsmans life depends on its weapon!'' stated Domi and Ruby in unison. In understatement, they gave a fist bump.
''We get it, you love your weapons.'' Stated Yang.
''I don't love my weapon, more of depend on them when I can't depend on anything else.'' State Domi.
''I think you require a psychologist, a really good one that is.'' Stated Weis.
Domi chuckled before breaking into a burst of mad laughter. ''Phahaha… do you… phaha… really think… haha… that a psychologist can fix me… then you are as crazy as me!'' exclaimed Domi finally calming down.
''Anyway, I would want to hear what all happened to you, as you said we could arrange a meeting, how about tomorrow afternoon. We could all go to one dorm and you two tell us what you intend, and you can invite Coco was it? And we can put a closure to it if possible.'' Stated Pyrrha.
''If Domi in on it we can, Domi?'' asked Jaune.
''If Coco is up for it, then yes. I'll message her and tell you what's what.'' Stated Domi.
''You heard the man. If Coco is up for it we got a plan for tommorow.'' Stated Jaune. Getting nods of agreement from the crew.
''Don't forget we will work on the upgrades!'' stated Ruby.
''Heah'' came the collective answer from the brothers.
They finished their dinner in piece, mostly… there was smalltalk, the occasional bad pun and joke of Yang, followed by one of Domis equivalently bad one. The two of them together are hell to listen to. At least Domi has the decency to stop when he notices that his jokes are not apreceated.
Domi went back to his dorm, not before telling his brother that he will be probably fine, so he can sleep with his team. When he arrived at his dorm, he noticed the bag of steel he will have to carry to the workshop tomorrow. What a pain. He ignored it for now and got his scroll from his pocket, before typing a message to Coco. Stating ''You got time tomorrow afternoon, we want to tell our life story to Jauneys team and team RWBY, and I want you there.''
Domi, in the meantime, went for a shower to get ready for bed. After he came out of the shower he noticed a notification on his scroll.
A message from Coco stating she can't, that her team has a problem, and won't have time in the next few days.
Domi read it and got dressed I a pair of boxers and his wooden flip-flops before heading to his brother's dorm. He knocked on the door and waited for it to open up.
Pyrrha opened up the door. ''Hey, Dominik, can I help you? '' she asked, before noticing his attire and blushing.
''Just wanted to inform you guys, no storytime tomorrow, Coco is busy with a team affair. We will have to postpone it.'' He explained.
''Could you put on some cloths please!'' stated Pyrrha with a blush as red as Ruby's cloak.
''Nope'' was Domis answers before heading to RWBY's dorm. Pyrrha shut the door and informed the rest of her team, while Jaune was still in the shower.
He knocked on the door and waited for an answer. Yang of all people got the door.
''Oh… here to seduce me lady killer?'' she asked teasingly In a sultry tone.
''Just came to tell you that storytime tomorrow will be postponed. Team affair with Coco's team.'' Explained Domi.
''Aw… that's too bad. Both of it.'' Stated Yang in a teasing manner.
''Show me something worth my time and I will see about the first thing.'' Stated Domi in a teasing tone.
''Oh… so you are interested lady killer? How do you like this?'' she stated putting a finger to the top of her tank top, pulling it down a little, showing more of her cleavage.
Domi stepped closer, put an arm on her waist the other to her chin, and stated. ''If you want to play with me… you will have to step up your game, by a lot that is.'' Stated Domi, taking his hands off her, walking away to his dorm.
Yang was… up and utterly defeated. He out teased her, her! That was not possible. Did she just meet a man that is not affected by her teasing, not affected by her charm, not even affected by her 'charm'. She had to admit he was good. She walked back in and was grated by her 3 teammates.
''Was that Dominik, wearing only boxers and flip-flops?'' asked Blake, who wasn't reading a book to Everyone's surprise.
''Yup, and I must say I'm interested in him even more now.'' Yang stated.
''Was his body that well build or what?'' asked an annoyed Weis.
''That is only a bonus… he was not affected by my teasing, he teased me… me… of all people. He also wasn't staring at my 'charm', which is a bonus. He also gets along with Ruby, which is also another bonus. I may or not may Co spider him.'' Yang explained.
''I can see this ending really badly for us.'' Stated Weis.
''Don't worry Weis-cream. Everything will be just fine.'' Teased Yang.
''Don't call me that.'' Came from the Snowflake.
Sunday morning came, Domi was woken up by Jauney flipping the mattress. The got ready, went to get breakfast and went alongside Ruby to the workshop.
Jaune and Ruby were working on the shield/crossbow hybrid, while Domi, who surprisingly knew how to work metal, started by replacing the grip on one of his shotguns with a handle he crafted. The shogun now instead of the stock had a handle that was bend from the main steal from the barrel by 45 degree. The trigger mechanism, as well as the trigger, stayed the same, the trigger guard was replaced by a new flexible one, that worked in both forms, giving enough room for work. The way he switched the mode was by a simple bolt lock, that was released and triggered by aura. Now working on the blade part, Domi took the steal Jauney bought and started by cutting out 2 identical blade shaped pieces. He grinded them to have an edge that formed when the blades came together. He then proceeded to heat threat the blades, and tempering them. He polished and sharpened the blades. He added rails to the front end and before the intake for the ammo. The blades now at the sides of the shotgun, with a touch of aura slid gown and forward, turned to Mele form, the shotgun now looked like a glaive or a one-sidedly bladed spear. Not the most complicated thing to surface the workshops. But enough for Domi. Now with his weapon in hand played with it. The transformation was fluid and snappy. Turning from shotgun to mele form was simply put perfectly executed. The blade was rather small, it wasn't a machete-sized, a rather large danger size. Maybe he will change it in the future, but for now good is.
Satisfied with his work, he began working on his second shotgun and decided to go the same. After so many hours of working he was done. Both shotgun/glave/spear/machetes were before him. And with that Ruby and Jaune enter.
''How you doing?'' asked Ruby, before realizing he was already done. ''Wait, what… you finished without me?'' she said, with the thought of Yang doing a bad joke at her statement.
''Sorry rubes, but I got tired of waiting for you two. So how's the shield?'' asked Domi.
Jaune, with a grin presented his shield. Or the gauntlet that it was. It was a mat black, metallic gauntlet. He channeled some aura into it and I transformed into its shield form. It transformed into a round shield. Nothing too impressive, until he channeled some more aura into it, the shield parted, the two parts acting like bow limbs, revealing a rail and a string. The crossbow was nice, to say the least. Not having to carry it around on his back was nice. The extra weight on his left hand wasn't too much, and with the crossbow doubling as a shield, it did enough to earn its keep.
''Nice, nice… it needs the Brawling Nevermore insignia on it thou…'' stated Domi.
''So do my hoody and your coat.'' Answered Jaune.
''Touché, but I wasn't going to bother Coco. All the team afair and all. If it wasn't for that I would have asked, and we had them done while talking our harts out. But you know how it went.'' Explained Domi.
''So how do they work, show me, show me!'' stated Ruby.
''I'm afraid not. You will have to wait till combat class until you see them in action.'' Domi stated.
''Awwww.'' Was the sound Ruby made, looking like a kicked puppy.
''You still can help me name them. I got no idea what to name them.'' Stated Domi.
Yay came from Ruby charing up.
''And I need a name for this ass well.'' Stated Jaune pointing to his shield/crossbow.
Domi, Ruby, and Jaune, after a long time of thinking, came up with the names.
Equnox, the shield that protects and the crossbow that takes lives. A duality of protection and killing intent. A fitting name.
Vengeance(left one, the newly bought shotgun) and Redemption(right one, the old shotgun that was with Domi for God's know how long) , 2 shotguns/Melle weapons, that bring a grim end to the Grimm, reapers, or anyone who would cross the path of Domi.
With that in mind, the 3 of them headed for diner, as they skipped lunch to work. They meet with their respective teams(not including Domi, the lone wolf.).
''So is everybody excited to start classes?'' asked Pyrrha. She got a variety of mixed reactions. Some simply said they were ready, Ruby was excited as ever, Yang said she was ready to kick some ass in combat class, only to receive a ''Language'' from Ruby. And then there was Norra and Domi, who slammed their faces into the table with full force, almost breaking the table and groaned something in the way of 'Why do we have to ha e classes… we only need to know how to kill Grimm!''. Norra received a back rub from Ren, securing her it won't be that bad. Domi got a pat on the shoulder from Jaune, saying ''If I'm doing this, you are as well.'' With a smirk on his face, to that Domi just slammed his head again against the table.
''Well it seems like we will be having an interesting time.'' Stated Pyrrha, receaving nods from everyone.
With that done, everyone got a message on their scrolls. It was a message stating that the timetables have changed. Meaning the crew would have combat class instead of Dust study tomorrow.
Yang gave a Yeah of cheer, being able to kick ass sooner. With some more will to live Domi cleared a little, less studying.
''Btw have you tried the uniforms yet?'' asked Pyrrha, directed at Jaune and Domi.
''What uniforms?'' asked the brothers in unison, looking confused.
''Oh, right, you were in the workshop when we got them, we actually also got Domi's, so remember to take yours when we get back to our dorms.'' Stated Pyrrha.
Jaune, was displeased at that. While Domi…
''Are you faking kidding me, faking uniforms… you might as well put me in a faking dress!'' stated a angry Domi.
''Language'' exclaimed Ruby and Weis.
''ughh… I will deal with that later…'' said Domi continuing his meat and chocolate intense dinner.
''Well, I'm inteagued with what you will come up with.'' Stated Yang.
Domi just sighted and continued to eat.
The crew continued to talk about classes, Norra and Domi tried to zone out, Norra fell asleep while still eating pancakes. Domi on the other hand went on his scroll, and continued to eat. He was looking at Dust price listing… after all he used dust boosted molotovs, so he had to have a stockpile of dust to make them, which was currently running pretty dry, and the prices weren't encouraging him to stock up on it right now. ''Damn…'' he thought, the prices in Vale were lover then in the outskirts, for obvious reason, but due to the dust robberies the still went up and over everything he has seen in the outskirts.
They finished their meals and started to head towards their dorms. As they got there, Domi was with team JNPR, to get his uniform. ''Maybe, I can have a little accident, and ruin the uniform. Or I can say I never got one.'' That was all Domi thought about at the moment.
When they entered, Both Domi and Jaune got a pile of clothes pushed to their chests. Each contained a white dress shirt, a pair of black pants, a black blazer with red trimmings, and a red bow tie and normal tie.
''Welp… I have a lot of work to do…'' stated Domi, heading to the exit of the dorm.
''If you destroy the uniform, you pay for it.'' Stated Jaune.
''Yes, mom.'' Answered Domi, leaving their dorm.
''What's that about?'' asked Pyrrha.
''Did you notice… he was focusing on the uniform, and his right eye was twitching a little bit. With that you can tell, he was thinking about either burning or destroying the uniform in a way. You will soon be able to tell that, and many other things, just by observing him.'' Stated Jaune.
''You sure do know your brother.'' Stated Norra.
''I sure do. I sure do.'' Stated Jaune.
Back with Domi. ''How will I make this work?'' is all that was in his mind right now. Walking around in this room, trying to make this shit work… he had a decent idea but was hoping to get a better one. He stamped around his dorm, before hitting the shower and then hitting the bed. Wearing nothing but a pair of boxers of course.
Tomorrow is gonna be interesting(not at all), he thought before drifting to sleep.
