Review Responses:

Aarik Wrath: I just want to say thank you for the informative reviews you've left for the story so far. Some of the contradictions are intentional since it's a consequence of the time travel aspect of the story, but there are also elements of what you've said I either forgot about or wasn't aware of at all and I will be keeping them in mind moving forward. I appreciate it a lot.

zachosg7: I probably put a little bit too much thought into the geass Kallen has, honestly. I spent probably a week thinking about how it can be used and what it's rules are. I'm glad you find it interesting though. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.

TheMist33: I'm happy you're enjoying it. Not really a time skip, but I did intentionally leave out a scene where Lelouch helps Kallen test her geass. Which is how he knows that he calls his to-be army the Black Knights as well. Aside from that, there wasn't really anything that important that got skipped. I also wanted to include something in the chapter that was original content since the later part of the chapter where they save Suzaku isn't all that different from the original.

Pkd: Yeah, I usually try not to post a fic until I have at least 3 chapters ready, so… I kind of over-prepared for this one. I was kind of excited to get this one going. As for the dynamic within the Black Knights, it will be different, but keep in mind that Kallen was already the most trusted member of them and this is still Lelouch we're talking about.

Dewa1990: I'm working on it. I know what I'm doing with Milly and likely what I'll do with Shirley. Nina already had a place in the story and I'm trying to figure out what I'll do in a new timeline, and Rivalz I'm trying to figure out what he'll do. I felt like all of them were underutilized characters in the original story. Well, Nina made everyone hate her with her actions in the series, but that's different.

Reviews are always welcome and I actually do welcome all suggestions of things to do in the story. I have plans and stuff, but if you have any you'd like to see, I'll take it into consideration for the future.

Turn 05 - I Remember

Kallen groaned, lifting head up off of the table in front of her. Slowly the tired blurriness of the world came into focus as the scent and sounds of food began to fill her other senses. "Le...Lelouch?"

"Good morning, sunshine." He said in a slightly teasing tone.

She looked around, her eyes still somewhat droopy. "Did I fall asleep last night?"

He nodded. "When I was putting Nunnally to bed." He removed whatever he was cooking from the pan in front of himself and placed it on a plate. "I was going to take you home, but you seemed comfortable enough there."

Kallen looked down at the table, spotting a puddle. "Ugh, gross…" She said, wiping off her face.

Lelouch placed the plate down in front of her and a towel. "Here."

She blinked. "Pancakes?"

He nodded. "Yeah. Once a week I try to make breakfast for Nunnally and I. I couldn't do it yesterday because of some preparations I had to attend to, so I made it today."

Kallen smiled and wiped up her drool puddle. "That's actually kind of sweet of you." She said, looking at him as he sat down and pulled out a book to read. "Aren't you gonna eat too?"

"I already had my fill." He explained.

Kallen nodded and began eating. "Is that… cinnamon?"

"And vanilla." He said. "Nunnally likes her pancakes on the sweeter side, so I add in some to make them to make them that way."

She smiled. "I'm not really a sweets girl, but I do think these are nice."

"Thank you." He said, flipping a page in his book. "It's nothing special though. I'm no novice, but I'm certainly not a chef."

She sighed. "Hey, what time is it, anyway?"

"A little past noon." He replied, in complete disinterest.

"What? Why didn't you wake me up sooner?" Kallen said, standing up. "Lelouch, we're late for school!"

"Does it matter?" He asked. "Until last year you were always skipping classes too." She looked a bit surprised he knew about that. "Besides, if I went to class, it's not like I'd actually pick up anything. I've got got more important things to think about right now."

Kallen was going to respond, but then she noticed the book he was reading. "You never rest, do you?"

"I can't afford to." Lelouch responded. "If I sit around idly, then change can never come. It is only through acting that we can truly move forward to create a better world. I don't have the luxury of spending my time on matters that don't advance us toward our objective."

Kallen nodded. She wanted to tell him it was okay to relax every once in a while, but she thought very much the same way the first time through. Actually, she never truly stopped thinking that way. If someone suggested she just take a step back and enjoy life for a minute, she would have been furious. No, she had been furious. She decided to finish her meal before she and Lelouch went off to class.

"Hey, have you guys heard?" Rivalz asked, with classes having come to an end for the day. "They dropped all charges on that guy who tried to kill Prince Clovis."

Lelouch shook his head. "No, I hadn't heard anything about it. But I'm glad things got sorted out. It looked like a real mess during that event the other day."

"You mean the one with that Zero guy?" Kallen said.

Shirley smiled. "Yeah. Everyone's talking about it. They're all wondering who he is."

Rivalz smiled. "I'll bet it's someone from the Royal family. Oh! Maybe it was Prince Clovis himself!"

Kallen arched an eyebrow at him. "I doubt that. Last I heard, he was still in the hospital being treated for bullet wounds."

Clovis groaned, feeling the pain flare up from where he'd been shot. His eyes slowly shook open as the brightness of the outside world made its way inside. "I'm… alive?"

"Yes." A voice said, causing him to turn.

"Sister Cornelia?" He said, surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"I came as soon as I heard about your condition." She said, looking to the bandages on his body. "Assassination… how cowardly… just what I would expect from those damned Elevens."

Clovis was going to tell her it wasn't done by them, but then he remembered the deal he'd made with Lelouch. Even as kids, a deal with Lelouch was a dangerous thing to break. Considering how he'd been shot already, he knew he couldn't tell Cornelia anything.

"To think, they would dare to attempt to take another of my siblings away from me…" She said, sadly. "But you're alive. That means you can still work to avenge the deaths of Lelouch and Nunnally."

He stared at her for a moment. "Cornelia, I…" He paused. "Yes. I will act to uphold their memory." He said.

She smiled. "You don't need to worry about that." She said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "While you're recovering, I've been ordered to take over as interim Viceroy until you can return."

"What?" He said, a bit fearfully. He'd made a deal that he would make things right in Area 11, but there was no way he could keep Cornelia from acting on the Japanese though. Despite how he had treated them as Viceroy, he was no warrior. He was only able to order the deaths he had because he'd done it under the pretense that Lelouch and Nunnally were dead. With them alive, and even learning that they were taken care of by the Japanese, he actually felt an amount of remorse toward his previous actions.

But Cornelia was vicious and she held it as a point of pride to discriminate against the numbers, not just the Elevens. Not wanting to keep thinking about it, he pivoted the subject. "Since you're here, I can only assume that Euphemia has accompanied you?" He said, smiling.

Cornelia nodded. "Yes, but it seems that she's wandered off somewhere." She said. "That girl never was good at staying still…"

After school, Lelouch and Kallen left the grounds in order to discuss what to do with the Black Knights moving forward.

"You don't happen to remember how the original one went, do you?" Lelouch asked.

She shook her head. "Sorry. Chalk that one up to another one of my missing memories."

He sighed. "I see. We'll just have to hope something comes that allows for a proper debut."

Kallen nodded. "Yeah, but… why exactly do we need a proper one? We could just start acting, couldn't we?"

"It won't be the same if we don't have the public's support. The Black Knights need to make it clear that we not only stand for protecting the Japanese." He explained. "This is about more than just liberating Japan. We stand for justice, regardless of creed or background. I do worry though… if the Black Knights indeed are successful in liberating Japan, I wonder if they would be satisfied at that."

"Huh? What do you mean?" She asked.

"If they only fight for Japan and we are successful, then what motivation is there for them to continue the fight?" He said. "Let me ask you something. Do you know how things are in Area 16?" He asked.

"No, I haven't heard anything." Kallen said.

He nodded. "I figured not. When it comes to the different areas around the world under Britannian control, news of the others is rather sparse. You have to actively seek it out to find the truth."

She nodded. "Okay, so what's going on in Area 16?"

"Area 16 used to be the Korean peninsula. Around three years ago, Britannia invaded them and in turn crushed them without mercy." He said. "After their war ended, the Emperor placed Ulrich ci Britannia in charge as Viceroy. He passed an official decree, declassifying Sixteens as humans."

"What?" Kallen shouted. "Wait, you mean-"

"That the Korean people have become slaves in their own country." Lelouch said. "Ulrich felt that Clovis was being too soft on the Japanese people. Since they were both from the continent of Asia, he decided to make an example of them."

"That's horrible." Kallen said. "Could that happen here?"

"Unlikely. Ulrich has always had a cruel sense of superiority toward anyone but the Emperor." Lelouch said. "Plus Area 11 has been established for too long to be able to make such a drastic change like that. And besides… I don't think Clovis is going to be giving the Japanese as much trouble after our little exchange."

Kallen still couldn't believe what he'd told her. The Korean peninsula wasn't even all that far from Japan, and yet she'd never heard about how terrible Britannia had been to the people. "I'll fight for them too, then." She said. "I'll fight for all of the people that can't fight themselves."

He smiled. "I'm happy to hear that. But…" His expression darkened. "Can you tell me for certain if anyone currently in the resistance truly cares about peace?" He asked. "Or do they only care for Japan."

Kallen remembered the Black Knight's betrayal of Lelouch. They agreed to turn him over to Schneizel in exchange for Japan. "Maybe…"

"Lelouch?"

Kallen and Lelouch turned toward the person calling out to him.

"Lelouch… is that... is that you?"

Kallen stared at the girl in front of her. "Wait, I know you…" She said, as her eyes grew wider. Those light violet eyes, that vibrant, flowing pink hair.

"Euphie…" Lelouch muttered under his breath.

Kallen stared at the princess. "No… this isn't supposed to happen this way." She thought, stuck in a panic. "I don't remember who you are, but…" Her right eye then pulsed as she saw various images of something that disturbed her to her core.

Euphemia, was standing in the middle of a stadium.

"Those of you who call yourselves Japanese, I have a favor to ask."

"That's right…"

"Okay, soldiers, please kill the Japanese! Kill them all!"

"That was you…"

She then saw an image of Euphemia turning around, blood staining her clothes with a gun in-hand. Kallen felt her blood begin to boil.

"Um… I was hoping you'd all just commit suicide, but you can't, can you?"

"I remember…"

"Could you all die please?"

"Princess Massacre."

So, this is my shortest chapter, but I wanted to end it with this and I don't want to pad out the chapter just to make it longer. I completely made up the stuff for Area 16, since we don't really have a whole lot of information about the other areas in the Code Geass universe. But I decided to make it clear that under much more oppressive leaders, other areas could absolutely have been subjected in far worse ways, not that the Japanese are treated well, but it's entirely possible that other areas are treated worse. It's also important to consider when it comes to the condition the Black Knights agreed to when they went through with their betrayal.

For anyone that's wondering, yes I do plan to have C.C. do stuff in this story. I just have trouble finding where to fit her in. If anyone is curious though, she did still show up the night after they saved Suzaku. The reason she hasn't done anything yet is because he's still in the part of the story where he hides her away in his room. She will become more involved soon though. Just wanted to put that out there in case anyone was wondering.
