The next day the plan was in motion. Mal would give Ben the love potioned cookie before the game and they would be one step closer to the wand.

Carlos was standing on one of the corridor with Dude, looking like he was just cuddling the dog. He definitely was, but he was also a lookout for any variables we may not have planned for. Mal and Jay were gonna walk in together towards Mal's locker before he would go to get ready for tourney. Evie and I were standing by the railing "distracting ourselves" with each other. Evie was perched on the railing while I heroically kept her from falling over. Her legs were wrapped around me and she would whisper little jokes in my ear and I would give her a soft kiss each time while she giggled triumphantly in my ear.

Sure we were also supposed to be lookouts, but that didn't mean we couldn't have a little fun. Plus Evie looked wickedly good today that I had to take time to appreciate. She was in a blue faux leather dress with a pleated skirt and dark gold fabric detailing the waist and chest. Paired with perfect black tights, heels, and my leather jacket...she was the fairest in all the lands.

I was in a black sleeveless jumpsuit paired with a metallic gold bomber jacket. My hair was put up in a high braid again and I even let Evi put some of her barretts in my hair. I had one black fingerless glove and one metallic gold one. My shoes were black with a high heel so I towered over Evie, which she always enjoyed. And I snuck on some of that apple lip gloss she likes putting on me so much.

Mal and Jay turned the corner signalling the start of the plan. Ben was by his locker and Audrey was with him. Luckily for us, the group of girls whose hair Mal fixed were conveniently in the quad at the same time as us. What a coincidence.

"Look it's Mal!" "Hi, Mal!" "I love my hair Mal!" the girls piped up when seeing the purple haired fairy. Mal almost looked a touch nervous but smiled and waved at them before turning to her locker. We were close enough that Evie and I could hear Mal and Jay's conversation.

"Hey lovebirds! Get a room!" Mal teased, causing Evie to burst out into another fit of giggles that I had to kiss away on her lips. Protocol demanded it, at least my protocol.

"Are you feeling kind of weird about this? I mean, It's not so bad here, you know." Jay said, leaning against the lockers and looking out on the quad. Mal slammed her locker shut and turned to him horrified.

"Are you insane? Long live evil! You're mean! You're awful! You're bad news! Snap out of this." She rallied at the son of Jafar. He straightened himself up and looked at her scared for a second before relaxing and that easy going smile of his was back on his face.

"Thanks Mal. I needed that." he said. I scoffed and turned my attention to the soon to be King and his soon to be ex girlfriend. Evie tugged at a loose strand of hair at the noise I made but I didn't pay any mind as I focused on the two a few feet away.

"Do you think they actually paid for those?" Audrey asked Ben, a sneer in her voice. Their attention then was drawn to Jay who walked over to the girls and started shamelessly flirting with them.

"She did it to Jane's hair too, and Fairy Godmother's not happy about it." Audrey continued talking to Ben.

"What's the harm?" Ben asked, confused. And rightly so. Just because magic wasn't as common anymore didn't mean it was suddenly illegal to use.

"It's gateway magic! Sure it starts with the hair. Next thing you know it's the lips and the legs and the clothes and then everybody looks good and then...where will i be?" she asked, turning to Ben and giving him a cringeworthy puppy dog eye pout.

"Hmm these lips are magical I do have to say." I murmured against Evie's lips pressing a kiss to them to hide the little squeal she made. She kissed back, softly cupping my face in her hands. I distracted us so much it wasn't until Jay hit the back of my head that I realized Audrey was gone and Mal was walking up to Ben.

"Hey Bennyboo!" Mal teased the prince and made him jump. But when he turned to Mal a smile grew on his face. Maybe if we had time on our side we really wouldn't have needed the potion.

"Hey Mal," he greeted.

"I just made a batch of cookies. Double chocolate chip, do you want one?" she asked, putting on a sugary sweet smile.

"Oh, uh, I - I've got a big game. I don't eat before a big game. But thank you so, so much. Thank you. Next time. Next time." the prince fumbled on his words. But Mal was clever and I saw her mind at work.

"No yeah. I completely understand." she started before going with, "Be careful of treats offered by kids of villains." she finished.

"No, no, no." he said, horrified at the thought. But it played exactly as Mal wanted.

"She can play him like a fiddle can't she?" Evie muttered to me. I only nodded as I watched the performance.

And then Ben took a big bite out of a cookie.

Thank goodness people in Auradon don't pay attention to what's going on around them because it was comical how the rest of us swarmed around the two to see Ben's reaction.

"These are so good. They're great! They're amazing...They're...uh… I mean, they're chewy and you know, is that walnuts?...I love walnuts...I mean and the chocolate...the chocolate chips...are, um...I'm sorry…" he stumbled over his words as the potion took effect. It made me frown if I was being honest.

I truly think he would love Mal without the potion. And Mal...Mal could love him too. But they needed time and time we didn't have so hopefully he would forgive all of us when the time came.

"Mal have you always had those little golden flecks in your eyes?" he asked softly. The way he was looking at her was how I looked at Evie. And I could tell Mal noticed it too because even she looked to be lost in that gaze a little.

"How you feeling bro?" Jay asked, wrapping an arm around the Prince.

"I feel...I feel...I feel like...Like singing your name. Mal!" I quickly put a hand to his mouth as I felt Magic in the Air almost start up but thankfully it held back. The rest of the VK's got a laugh out of it though.

"Maybe a little less singing and more going to tourney Ben." I suggested. And if my tone didn't sound as victorious as it should have, no one made any comment about it.

Carlos and Jay hauled Ben away to the lockers while Mal, Evie, and I went to the field and the bleachers. While we were waiting Evie noticed these little pom poms people could buy to cheer in the stands.

"Oh my god Donna aren't those the cutest things you've ever seen!" she squealed, tugging on my arm. It made me smile though. I looked to Mal on Evie's opposite side.

"Mind sticking with Evie and I'll get us some pom pom's and snacks?" I asked.

"As long as there's a big pretzel with my name on it." Mal haggled. "Done." I said, quickly kissing a giddy Evie before making my way to a concession stand.

I didn't really pay much attention to my surroundings while I waited in line. I allowed myself a moment to breathe. I had to start acting on what I was feeling, swaying the other VK's away from stealing the wand. There was so much potential for us here. We didn't have to live like their parents wanted. They didn't need to be bad to be appreciated and loved and well liked. I just had to figure out a way to say it without alienating my friends.

"Can I get a soft pretzel, two sodas, that candied apple, and a set of pom poms please?" I ordered when it was my turn.

"Hungry dear?" a voice said from behind me. I turned and froze a little.

It's not every day you have King Beast and Queen Belle behind you at a concession line.

"Getting food for the gang. The pom poms are for Evie. Can't resist a little flair." I said, watching them carefully. King Beast was looking at me like a hawk but Queen Belle was at least trying to act normal.

"Belladonna right?" Queen Belle asked. I nodded.

"I didn't think you'd be a fan of tourney." King Beast said, probing. I knew the tactic.

"Well Jay and Carlos are playing. Ben too. Moral support and all that." I said, trying to stifle the nervous feeling in me. King Beast, even as a human, was an imposing man and towered over most people. He was also broad and could probably throw me across the field if he wanted.

"Well thank you for being here dear." Queen Belle said with a smile. I nodded and gave a small smile back before turning to pay for my stuff that was ready.

I walked back to the girls as quickly as I could.

"A candied apple!" Evie said excitedly, reaching for it. I smiled and gave her a kiss as I handed the apple and pom poms to her. Mal got the pretzel and soda while Evie and I would split the other soda.

The game was very intense. At one point Auradon had the lead, then Sherwood, then Auradon. It was back and forth but quickly easy to see why it was such a popular sport.

There was one point in the game that Jay even cheered Chad on during a difficult play, and Chad thanked him. While small, it was those small moments that maybe could help clear the tension between hero kids and villain kids.

Now it was tied two and two and there wasn't even a minute left on the clock. But in that minute the coach put in Jay and Carlos who were able to maneuver the play and give Ben the winning shot.

And the announcer was all about it.

"He passes to Prince Ben, He scores! Prince Ben has won it! What an unselfish play by Jay! What a team! Incredible! And it's the new guys, Jay and Carlos, who set up the prince for the win here. What a victory! An absolutely wonderful end to one of the best games ever!" he said over the roaring cheers of Auradon. Mal, Evie, and I were cheering loudly for our fellow VK's.

"Here they come, folks. The winners of the first tourn-" The announcer tried finishing but Ben hopped up on the stage and took the mic from him. Oh boy…

"Excuse me. Excuse me. Can I have your attention please?" he started, making the crowd go silent and confused. Mal and Evie looked confused too but I was trying to hold in my laughter. I could feel Magic in the Air stirring again and there was no way we could stop him this time.

"There's something I'd like to say. Give me an 'M'!" he began to cheer. The crowd joining him, oblivious over what was about to happen.

"Give me an 'A'!" he continued. This time I shouted along with the crowd making Evie elbow me in the stomach.

"Give me an 'L'!" he finished spelling and while the crowd didn't quite get it yet, Mal and Evie did and Mal looked absolutely horrified. A quick glance at Jay and Carlos showed they got it too and found it hilarious.

"What does that spell?" he asked the crowd.

"Mal!" Everyone said back.

"I love you Mal! Did I mention that?" he said to a stunned and now silent crowd. Audrey ran off the field in tears, a couple of other cheerleaders following her.

"Give me a beat!" Ben called to Doug.

And Magic in the Air began.

"Oh my god!" Evie said, laughing in glee.

"What was in that cookie?" Mal asked in disbelief.

The whole tourney team joined him in singing and dancing. Carlos and Jay were his immediate back up dancers and the spell was powerful enough to get everyone else to join with the song. The thought of Mal being a villain quickly forgotten to most of the people.

Did I mention that I'm in love with you?

And did I mention there's nothing I can do

And did I happen to say?

I dream of you everyday

But let me shout it out loud, if that's okay ay ay

If that's okay (Hey!)

"Oh my god singing his love for you! How romantic is that!" Evie said, a hand on her chest gazing dreamily in the distance. It made me pause though.

In all the time on the Isle we never said the L word. And hell it was Auradon. I shouldn't be afraid to say it to her here. Even if she might not be ready to say it back.

Oh God am I really gonna go through it?

I met this girl that rocked my world like it's never been rocked

And now I'm living just for her and I won't never stop

I never thought that it could happen to a guy like me

But now look at what you've done, you got me down on my knees

Everyone was too busy watching Ben sing his song and dance to Mal to notice me working up any kind of courage in me. Suddenly I felt afraid. But this was Evie. I should be afraid. Ben jumping off the platform kind of sealed the deal funny enough.

Because my love for you is ridiculous

I never knew

(Who knew?)

That it could be like this

My love for you is ridiculous

My love is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!

(R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!)

It's (Ridiculous!)

Just (Ridiculous!)

And I would give my kingdom for just one kiss

Throughout the chorus I let Magic in the Air begin to truly fill me. I felt it rush through me and my limbs start to move almost on their own.

Well did I mention that I'm in love with you

And did I mention there's nothing I can do

And did I happen to say?

I dream of you everyday

But let me shout it out loud, if that's okay ay ay

Everyone turned to me as I started singing but my eyes were only on Evie as she spun to me with a gasp. But her shock look quickly turned soft and her hands pressed against her face. She looked so beautiful and it made me want to keep singing. A smile grew on my face and I turned to find Ben's gaze. He was overcome with the magic that nothing seemed to break his grin.

(Yeah!) If that's okay

More of a question to him so I could keep singing along and he gave me a thumbs up. Ok here goes.

I gotta know which way to go, c'mon gimme a sign

I sang this to Evie, taking her arms and moving her side to side on the bleachers causing her to squeal.

You gotta show me that you're only ever gonna be mine

Ben took over, making his way to the bleachers all while singing to Mal. Jay and Carlos followed him more for crowd control.

Don't want to go another minute livin' without you

I sang again to Evie, wrapping her in my arms before I joined in with Ben on the next lyric.

Cause if your heart just isn't in it, I don't know what I'd do

And this time I dipped her to the side alittle which made her giggle into my ear. Meanwhile Ben got ready to dance some more with everyone, all while serenading Mal...after he threw his jersey at her.

Because my love for you is ridiculous

I never knew

(Who knew?)

That it could be like this

My love for you is ridiculous

My love is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!

(R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!)

It's (Ridiculous!)

Just (Ridiculous!)

And I would give my kingdom for just one kiss, c'mon now!

My body danced along with the rest as best as I could in the minimal space I had in the packed bleachers, but I made up for that by dancing around Evie which gave me a little more room.

Alright! (Hey!)

Alright! (Hey!)

Dear Merlin, now Ben was crowd surfing towards Mal. I just wrapped my arms around Evie and continued singing in her ear. Evie pressed herself against me and held onto my hands that were connected around her waist.

Because my love for you is ridiculous

I never knew

(Who knew?)

That it could be like this

My love for you is ridiculous

My love is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!

(R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!)

It's (Ridiculous!)

Just (Ridiculous!)

And I would give my kingdom for just one kiss, c'mon now

At the very end of the chorus Ben was very close to Mal and she was almost leaning into me and Evie.

"I love you Mal! Did I mention that?" he finished with. With the magic wearing off of me faster I could take notice of how overwhelmed Mal was.

Before anyone could make a move, Audrey and Chad appeared out of nowhere and took the microphone from Ben.

"Chad's my boyfriend now! And I'm going to the coronation with him. So I don't need your pity date." she sneered before planting a kiss onto Chad. The crowd gave a cheer, still too caught up in the magic to take anything negatively.

"Mal! Will you go to the coronation with me?" Ben asked her, and he looked so hopeful.

"Yes!" Mal said into the microphone making everyone cheer the loudest yet. Audrey and Chad left in a huff as Ben cheered with the crowd over the yes.

Jay was quickly able to steer Ben back onto the field where the announcer could finish talking about the game.

"Mal want to make a break for it?" I asked the purple haired fairy. She turned to me grateful and nodded, running off the bleachers without saying a word.

"She's never had any type of boy do anything like this for her. That potion was probably a little too powerful." Evie said, leaning back into me more.

"Hey Evie...I just want to say. I love you." I whispered in her ear. She relaxed into me before turning her head with the most beautiful smile on her lips. The rest of her followed as she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me down for a kiss. After a few moments we pulled away but only so far that our noses were still touching.

"I love you too Donna. So so much." she said. I couldn't help the grin that came across my face and kissed her again...and again...and again. Before finally she pushed me lightly away, laughter on her lips.

"I'm gonna go check on Mal. I'll see you in our room." she said before running off the bleachers.

I turned back to the field only to see...did Jay just win Most Valuable Player?
