CHAPTER SEVEN :Tris - aptitude test day

I could see the building and other people from different factions. However, the only thing that kept popping back and forth in my mind is the letter that I read yesterday. I wanted to tell Tobias,the way he was looking at me standing behind me in the line,but I couldn't. In a few minutes we all entered into respective rooms. The aptitude tests were always carried out by a different faction member. I entered and saw a Dauntless woman. Her hands were naked and filled with tattoos.

She said, " Hi, I am Tori, you can lie down here and we will carry on with the test."

I stood freezed and stared at the mirror on the sides of the wall. Looking at my own reflection I thought of one question - who am I?

She asked in amazement, " Abnegations staring at the mirror is unusual…"

I moved my eyes and sat on the reclined chair that's attached with a computer. There were wires and electrodes that she attached to my forehead. I tried not to focus on the wires but the test. I drank the stimulated drink that Erudite made. The sourness of the serum made me close my eyes.

The moment I opened my eyes I saw myself in the same room filled with mirrors. I watched inside the mirror for a few minutes and suddenly a voice came from back, " Choose."

I looked down and in two bowls, one had cheese and another had a knife.

I asked that voice, "Why?"

It repeated itself again in boldness, " Choose!"

Before I could ask any further questions the bowls disappeared in front of me. The moment I took a step back in amazement, I heard a loud vicious bark. I turned around and saw a huge beast dog. It's saliva was dropping down its clinging long tongue. The attack began and he started running towards me. I climbed the rope up which magically popped in front of me. It was hard and difficult to go up but I didn't give up. I reached the top and saw a girl walking on the train's track. I called out but my voice couldn't reach till her. I started running hard to save her, but the train was already running ahead of me. I jumped on the tracks and took a shortcut. I pushed myself with her the moment the train hit that track. And I woke up and was shaken because I was so close to get hit by train.

I started breathing heavily and moved forward rubbing my chest.

Tori smiled and said, " You did good! Your test results unfortunately or fortunately are Dauntless. However, I want to tell you that these aptitude tests show us what we are but the decision is on us about where we want to be."

I stood up in perplexity, " Umm...thank you." And left the room.

I met Tobiasout at the exit door. He was energetic and asked me, "So what happened? Your results?"

I gave a side smile, raised my eyebrows and said, " Are we allowed to do that?" I rolled my eyes and tried to remind him. I don't know how to react to this, should I be happy or sad? I kept talking to Tobiasto distract myself and as it makes me feel calmer.
