Hi everyone it feels nice to get back to this fic since I took a break to take part in 9 days but here you go here is chapter 7 hope you all enjoy the chapter.

Walking around an empty town Rin straightened as he looked around for his sword walking as fast as he could, the lack of his inner demon's presence in his head was a relief that he never failed to cherish when his sword was sheathed but he still needed to find his sword before someone else did.

Rin then scanned the town finding how destroyed it was made Rin feel unease whatever had did this didn't care about the destruction it had caused. Buildings were left broken and burnt to the ground, and Rin hadn't even managed to find a single living person around instead all he could find was their scattered remains making his stomach flip feeling sick.

Breaking off into a sprint Rin continued to look for his sword as he kept his eyes peeled for the person who did this wanting to stop them before they could hurt anyone else. Easily keeping a pace that would make an Olympic runner feel envious Rin made his way deeper into the village where he could still see smoke, the deeper he got into there the hotter things became and then Rin almost tripped when he noticed the flames.

They weren't normal red flames or even black flames no these were blue. "Satan" Rin mumbled in anger his body speeding up and as he ran round the destroyed buildings only to freeze when he found the cause of the destruction.

He saw the familiar white hair, with flames creating a pair of horns but it wasn't Satan he saw isn't it so much better looking now that I'm free! he asked him making Rin shake his head in disgust.

"You did this for fun?" Rin asked growling as he clenched his knuckles feeling his rage start to get the better off him "you're a monster" Rin told him.

no, we did this we've made this village so much better with our flames it's time for us to burn the whole of Remnant. his inner demon continued but before he could continue Rin surged forward tackling him all his strength sending the two of them through a crumbled building not caring about causing any more damage in his rage.

Slamming his most hated part of him into the ground Rin growled ignoring the spreading flames that was made by the two of them, the building collapsing ontop of them as he cocked his arm back slamming his fist into the fakes nose and then as he went for another hit, he felt a knee collide against his chest driving the air from his lungs and then he struck heavily sending him flying away smashing straight through a brick wall that had then fallen onto of him.

Groaning in pain Rin felt his healing slowly kick in as he tried to pull himself back up. Only he was then sent back into the ground by a leg booting his back causing a loud crack making him cry out in pain, not giving a moment of reprieve he was then kicked again, and again making him taste blood struggling to breath.

By the time he managed to catch the leg kicking him Rin was beginning to find it difficult to move his legs his healing factor working over drive. Yanking the leg towards him Rin struck at the knee with his elbow using all his strength grinning in validation when he saw the leg buckle his demon side falling with the leg broken.

And so, Rin then captivated on the opportunity by booting him in the face dazing him, looking for a weapon to help him Rin managed to find a tiny blade that was already covered in blood and so he grabbed it with shaky hands driving the blade into the old man's throat.

Pausing in shock as he saw his enemy change in front of his eyes Rin was unable to stop his body in time, his mind an unwilling spectator as it realised just what he had done.

"Father!" Rin croaked quickly catching the priest's body as he fell on top of him much to his shock as he felt just how cold he was "no this wasn't supposed to happen I can't lose you again." Rin pleaded hugging him closely in sorrow.

He felt as if the moment he let go he would lose him again and as Rin sat there oblivious to the rest of the world, he felt himself slowly being dragged towards Gehenna as the gate opened with him having no will to stop it.

Don't ever let me see you acting like my father again! Were the words that Rin membered as he sprung out of bed frantically looking around the room as he felt his heart race, his body felt clammy ridden with sweat and he felt sick, his stomach churning with guilt as he remembered how much he had failed the old man.

Pulling his knees to his chest Rin panted as he wiped his tearful eyes with his hand whenever he would shut his eyes, he would see him again making him feel even more like a screw up.

"Hey umm Rin are you okay?" a familiar voice asked him making him pause looking up to see Ruby making him sigh faking a smile he nodded.

"I'm great thanks just had a bad dream." he told her wiping his eyes as he sat up not wanting to scare her off with his moping.

Rin was then caught by surprise when she headed over to him and then awkwardly pulled him into a hug making him pause surprised before he hugged her back. "Mom always said it was best to go for a walk after a nightmare to help get your mind of it." she told him making him smile lightly running his hands through her hair.

"you're a great kid," Rin told her leaning forward as he heard her stomach growl making him laugh lightly as she blushed. "Come on Rubes I'll go make breakfast." he told her with a smile as he scooped her up in his arms carrying her towards the kitchen.

"I didn't think you'd be able to cook dad can't." Ruby told him making him chuckle as he placed her down onto a stool before turning around to rummage through the cupboards taking stock of the ingredients, they had available.

"I grew up in a monastery with just guys so it was learn to cook or starve." he told her smiling reaching into the cupboard when he saw some cookies and so he passed her one before deciding what he was going to make so he got the ingredients out and started to make it.

"Thank you," Ruby excitedly said to him before she devoured the cookie surprising Rin as he saw that she had an appetite like him making him smile. "What happened to your mom though?" Ruby asked him making him stumble before he recomposed himself.

"I never really got to know her," Rin told her simply looking away from her to prepare the meal quickly dicing the vegetables and meat as he added spices noticing her quietness Rin smiled showing off a grin that didn't really meet his eyes "put it led to me meeting you all so I can't complain." he said doing his best to cheer her up.

"it's nice to have another person who can cook here." a familiar voice said making Rin pause before he turned to the source.

"Yeah, it should be finished soon," Rin told her as he grilled the food before setting them down onto plates "I've made enough for everyone." he told her smiling weakly at her making her nod before she walked forward pulling him into a hug.

"If you have something bothering you, then you can always come to us." she told him a light smile on her face as she pulled him close in a warm embrace speaking quietly so that Ruby wouldn't over hear them.

Nodding at her he smiled feeling better to know that he had people who care about him even here in a different world "thanks Mr's Rose it was just a bad dream though I'm fine," he told her sighing before he paused as he remembered last night "what happened with the village after I passed out?" he asked worried about the people who may have gotten hurt.

"Call me Summer considering your living with us it would be weird to call us by our last names," Summer told him smiling before she paused helping Rin to set the table "hey Ruby do mind going to get the others?" Summer asked in a tone that showed it wasn't really a question as she picked Ruby up from the waist and put her down on the floor.

"Yeah, okay mom and I'll be back before you know it." Ruby told her before she ran off to get the others making the two spectator's chuckle.

"she's always been running around everywhere," Summer said smiling fondly before she straightened becoming more serious "After you passed out the others managed to kill the rest of the Grimm while that Ren guy managed to evacuate the rest of the village." Summer told him making Rin sigh in relief.

"I'm glad I was able to help them then," Rin said in relief as he looked to her "are Tai and the others, okay?" he asked her in worry remembering how he had tried to attack Tai before he had passed out.

"We made it out fine Rin." Tai told him speaking up in the door frame making Rin's head quickly swivel towards him.

"I'm so sorry about what happened before I lost control." he apologised feeling guilty making Tai shake his head.

"We all make mistakes don't worry about it kiddo," He told him running his hand through his hair which was when the last two got here "hey good morning." he said to the kids heading over to the kids to pull them into a hug.

"Good morning dad" the two of them replied hugging him back before they separated Ruby grabbing Tai's hand and pointing at the food.

"Hey dad Rin cooked for us today" Ruby told him excitedly making Tai smile.

"that's certainly generous of him I have something I want to talk to him about but for now let's enjoy what he made for us." Tai said happily as he ran his hand through Yang's hair before the five of them began to eat enjoying their day as they relaxed.
