AN: Turns out I can only go so long with short one-shots... I considered changing it to a text conversation between Lena and Violet, but the story expanded.

After each conversation with Huey, Violet erased her messages - she knew Lena would sometimes borrow the phone when her own battery died. She kept a record of Huey's advice in a section at the back of her JWG, knowing Lena wasn't interested in the book, along with notes on magic and other things which interested her or could be useful.

One Saturday morning, as Violet was getting ready for another Woodchuck meeting, Lena was teasing her about the claim that her book had the answer for everything.

"Does it even tell you the correct angle to wear your sash, and how far apart your badges should be?" Lena asked.

With her back to her sister as she smoothed the front of the sash, Violet wasn't paying full attention to her, but quoted the regulation sash and badge alignments. It didn't occur to her that the book was lying on her bed, ready for her to take to the meeting, or that Lena might pick it up.

"Could you pass my hat please," Violet asked, concentrating on her reflection in the wardrobe mirror.

When Lena didn't reply, she turned around. The room was empty, and assuming that her sister had become bored Violet collected her hat and returned to the mirror.

After the Woodchuck meeting she went to the mansion with Huey, wondering whether accepting a lift from Launchpad qualified her for a Passenger Safety badge - she'd had to warn him of several dangers while he was driving. At the mansion, Huey went to check on his brothers while Violet headed up to Webby's room. She found her friend waiting for her, though there was no sign of her sister.

"What's this?" Webby asked holding out several torn pieces of paper.

Violet stepped forward to examine them, "these were in my JWG, where did you get them?"

"So you admit that you wrote them?" Webby asked, grabbing a torch and shining the light towards Violet.

"Yes, of course."

The honesty of her answer surprised Webby, who lowered the torch, "why?"

"Junior Woodchuck Rule 7 - Work harder, make yourself better, and try again. I was only using the middle part of that rule - trying to make myself a better sister."

"Well you failed," Webby told her. "You've upset Lena."

"In what way?"

"Complaining about her to Huey, she think you don't want to be her sister because it's too much trouble."

"That's ridiculous. I was simply attempting to understand how to deal with having a sibling. Huey has been a brother for over a decade, so I went to him for advice."

Violet was pleased she had only written Huey's advice into the JWG, and not included the full content of their messages. The worst Lena and Webby would have seen were simple notes, for example, Issue 27: Lena's terrible timekeeping - Huey's advice: explain Woodchuck rule 18, that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Personal observation: help Lena set up calendar reminders on her phone.

"Why didn't you ask me? The boys are like brothers to me, I might have been able to help too."

"You do not cope well with even implied criticisms of Lena, I felt that discussing her... not flaws, what is the word? Her actions that confuse me, I suppose. I..."

"Lena is an affectionate seraph with the soul of a rainbow..."

"My point exactly," Violet tried not to smile at Webby's enthusiastic words.

Webby let out a deep breath and relaxed her shoulders, "you still could have come to me."

"Did you read those pages?" Violet asked.

"Lena read some of them to me, between crying about them, and I looked at the rest," Webby admitted.

"And do you agree with Huey's advice?"

Webby frowned as she considered the question, "I'm not sure. It just seemed a bit mean, talking about Lena behind her back like that Vi and..."

"It was not my intention to upset Lena."

"I know, but now she is upset."

Violet looked around, "then I should go and apologise. Where is she?"

"She heard you arrive and said she wanted some time alone."

"I see. I feel I should go after her anyway."

"Don't you want to check with Huey first?" Webby asked.

Violet frowned, "no. I feel able to handle this on my own, however I would like to invite you to join me."

Webby folder her arms, "what if you just upset her even more?"

"As our friend I know you want what is best for the both of us. Lena is my sister, I want to make sure that she is okay."

"Fine."

Violet gestured to allow Webby to leave the room first, she knew Webby would be able to find Lena fastest.

When they finally reached Lena, Webby persuaded Lena to listen to her sister and helped Violet explain what the notes in her book meant. Lena didn't seem completely convinced, but she accepted Violet's apology to make Webby happy. It took her a few days to work through her feelings and forgive Violet, but by then her sister had already shown in several small ways just how much she cared about her and Lena was reminded of all the other ways Violet had proved that she considered them sisters.
