Taking out the nails of the cupboard door and gently placing it onto the floor. Going on to the do the second one. This is the start of him working for Lucy. Yesterday he came here on a consultation to see what she would like done. It was mostly replace what she didn't care for and put something in that was more reliable. It would be a straight forward job, and it wouldn't take long to do. When suggesting that it could take 3-4 weeks can probably cut that down to half the time. This is his ex-lover and she wasn't the type of person that didn't go for cheap things. Can easily remember a time he gave her a cheap knock off of a bracelet. Threw it back in his face and stormed away. Those days are long gone and Gray is the one dealing with her high maintenance price rage.
When he ring her door bell this morning to be allow entry and gone up to the third floor. Her door was already open. Steps inside and called out her name. She was in her bedroom finishing getting dress her work day. A manger of a retail clothing store in one of the bigger malls downtown. He will be working here while she has gone to her job. Carrying his tools and placing them down on the table in the kitchen. Thought it would be best to start here, so she didn't have to end up dinning out every night. The place will be filled with wood chips and dust, and with the cupboards gone. No place to hold her can goods or kitchen ware.
Ripping out a few more nails and laying them down on the counter. Once all the doors are off he can then carefully take off the cupboards. Then fill the holds in with plaster, letting it dry and putting up what Lucy has order. The women was quick on her feet, already looking through many sites to get the looks she wanted for her new kitchen and bathroom. The stove and fridge is also coming out as well. She thought that the remodelling of the cupboards she would do the whole thing. It will look tacky to her, if they were only done and not the rest.
It made him ponder on what his house would look like with Amber coming up with ideas of the kitchen too. What colours would it be? Would the floor be tile or hardwood? What size of fridge or stove. It made him smile as he laying down a other door as Lucy walking into the kitchen. Putting her earring into her ear. Should she asking what he is thinking about. More then likely it would have to do with Amber. These past few weeks of seeing the women since high school hasn't intrigue her at all. Yes she has upgraded her dress appeal, her hair is longer, showing of jewellery she should like to wear herself. The fights she has with Gray are still the same. So what if she has change her appearance a little. It made no difference to her. Can get whatever she wanted by the snap of her fingers.
Even after her break up with Sting, could get any man she wanted. Didn't think about the last guy she dated. Always moved on to the next target. Now looking at sting in his work clothes, seeing his build under his tight shirt and they way his jeans shown off his thighs and behind. He was a good at sex back when they were younger. The way that Gray has been treating her lately, it's not like he is giving her the cold shoulder. Having sex was still there, but at lower scale. Biting her lip she was in need of some physical activity. She had no time for day dreams of the man in front of her. It did get her drive up a little. A women like her couldn't be hold down for long. She has waited around for Gray. Because he was the one she set her eyes onto. Right now there is chance of going back to her old ways.
"Lucy, hey! As you can see I started."
"It's alright. I know you want this job done. It's a small one for you to do."
"A job is a job, doesn't matter to me how big or small it is. Every time I work, I improve me skills and experience."
"You have been doing it for how many years?"
"I graduated before Amber. So I am been doing this for five."
"Any big time projects?"
"Only in Clover. None so far here."
"It's March now, spring is almost here and less snow on the ground. Work will pick up."
"Yes, it will. Sorry I couldn't come last month. I had to sort out my office first."
"I understand. It's up and running now?"
"Yeah, Amber help me with decorating the building. I got a secretary even."
"Did she picked them out too?"
"He was the best qualified."
"A male?"
"And good too. Can't complain."
"How is Amber?"
Didn't want to discussed his better half. It was to keep the conversation going. Until she went to her job, which would be in five minutes. Last night she was up late with Gray, waited for him to come to her house after his work. They had a late dinner and she was able to make love to her. Once again his phone was ringing about work. Left to attend to that before making her cum a second time. She was so close to keeping him for the night. Wanted his dam phone shut off, wanted the attention, the desire she craves. Holding on to his shirt for him to stay didn't work.
"Lucy my shirt."
"Gray please stay. We are enjoying ourselves. The matters of work can be concern for the morning. Can't you sleep with me, tonight."
"Sorry, work is busy. I know you do not like this."
"Then put the phone down and come back to bed."
"It's a important time right now."
"I am important too."
"Lucy..."
"Gray, this would so much easier if we see each other every day."
"That can't happen."
"It can! We can move in together. See each other in the morning and a night. I want our relationship to grow. We could take this step, and be closer to the next one."
"I do not know Lucy. Our places of work are far apart."
"This year, something has to happen. You know I want us to take a big leap."
"I remember the chat at the sky resort."
"This is what we need."
"I'll think about it."
"Good, now can we continue?"
The cell was going off again and he holds it up for her see. Rolling her eyes at him, and throwing the shirt in his face. It ended the night and he left to say he would call her the next day. He did give her a kiss good bye before leaving. Lucy sat on her bed looking at her bed sheet. Enjoyed the hours of making love tonight. Being the one that was on top and having him roll her onto the bed and finishing off. Then when they were going for the next round, asked her to get on her knees. It's been awhile for that position, missed the others he would do. When they first dated, he would pin her to the wall, pulled down her panties and calmed her then. Done it a few times in his company elevator. Had security check the elevator because it was on hold. When they open the doors got a show they were not expecting.
Those days hasn't surface for a long time. Can get only so much out of him now. For what she wants now with Gray is to make sure her place with him stays. That he will be the one to put a ring on her finger. Be known as Lucy Fullbuster, the trophy wife she always wanted to be. Giving her head a metal shake of thinking back to last night. It would only bother her more and didn't want to be in a mood with her employees.
"Amber is well Lucy. We both have been busy with work. When I get home to be with her, she makes my long days gone."
"I see...envious I am."
"What was that?"
Saying the last part softly to herself. Dismissed it with her hand. Letting him know it wasn't something to repeat again. To think she could get jealous over his relationship with Amber, plus they are to wed. Can she duplicate what they have. Get the engagement ring on her finger from Gray. Knowing it will not be long for the divorce papers to come in. Has the time to make him see that she was the best choice for being his bride.
"Nothing Sting. I got to get going. The doors open at 9:30am and I do not want be late since I am the manger and all."
"Sure, anything I still need to know."
"We talked yesterday about everything."
"Glad I didn't bring Amber with me. Didn't want her and Gray to go at it."
"That would have been best."
"With his brother's ranch he checks in with her almost daily regarding his horses."
"Always tends to them, when we go over there."
"Well should get back to work. Not getting paid for standing around."
"That goes for me too. Need customers to come by. I'll see you later when I get home."
"I'll make sure I don't make a huge mess. It will look different when you get back."
"At lest is getting done. Bye Sting."
Closing the door she heads the building entrance and walks down the steps. Gets into her car and drives off. Sting watches from the window and to see her leave. Notice that she seamed off this morning that something was on her mind. Didn't really want to engage in conversation. He was here for a job, to chat on the first day. Going back into the kitchen to take down the rest of the cupboards. This morning he didn't want to leave for work, was watching his sleeping beauty. How beautiful she was, with her red hair spread out on the pillow. Played with her hair for a bit before getting to have a shower. The late night foreplay lasted for four rounds. It's been wonderful when each of them came home late from work. They did as they promise and then some. Also, they have been trying to conceive as well too. Nothing so far, and they knew it wouldn't happen so soon. Their hopes were set on high that they will succeed.
When he came home early from work before she did. Would go into his home office to work on their housing plans. Thought about how many rooms they could fill with children. Always put a smile on his face thinking that any day now he could become a father. His parents will be thrilled to hear the news. They are still snow birds for right now, until they come back in June for the hotter months. Those months are going to be satisfying for him. To see Amber walking around in two piece bathing suit and laying out in the sun. Putting suntan lotion on her back. Then taking it off and making love to her in the lounge chair. How he has enjoyed that when they went to Mystogan and Wendy wedding last year. A destination to a tropical paradise with their own cabin that they booked. They could enjoy the ocean or stayed close to their own pool. They opt to there quiet place for the days before the wedding of her brother.
Maybe that is what they should do for theirs? Somewhere with nice weather, and hot sand under there feet while saying I do. Watch as Amber walks down the aisle holding onto her Jellal's arm. Doubt for a second that her dad would show up. Where he is now, she does not know. None of the family is really suppose to tell her when he comes by. The reason to that he does not know. Has speculated is because of his late wife death. Clare was her name, and nothing else has been spoken of her from Amber. It brings out her sadness and becomes so subdue. That is why he has taken lengths to send her away during those times. Wanted to go with her, but knew she has always done this herself. Made sure to keep in touch every day and to talk.
When he started to get to know Amber in that first year of grad 8. He became curious to know why she was disappearing up to the mountain for her birthday, then again the following year in the summer. It concern him, when he was told. Amber didn't tell him anything. Her brothers made him aware. That next summer, she vanish for the second time. He went to where she was, didn't receive a welcome greeting. Scream at him to leave her alone as she was crying. The tears pour from her every sole. Tried to get close to her, but a rock was thrown at him. Turn back he had to do. After she came down from Cascade Range her old self shine through. It was like as if, when she is up there, she is whole different person. Didn't need the closure from her mother's passing. Wasn't even seeking for it. Saw how depress she would become. Worried him half the time, heard the stories.
A friend he could be for her, but can't take away her pain. Believe no one could, not to the way she reacted. For her birthday, didn't want to celebrate them. Didn't ask for gifts, or cake, or cards. No parties or sleep overs of any kind. For how deep her pain went, she was there for others. Help him through his dark days, to when he felt normal again.
"I wouldn't change anything from those days past. I do regret not being with you when you should need someone the most. How you have suffer so much. You did have your family. Soon you will not only be my wife, the mother my kids. What may come our way, I'll be there for you. I don't why I am saying this out loud, in my ex's place, while taking this down. Sting think of something else."
Could hit himself if he wanted too. His mind would drift over to his love anyways. It helped him to do his work, never hinder him in any way. If he was here thinking of her, was she doing the same thing too?
"Will have to ask her."
Dirt from the horses back legs were coming off as she is brushing them with a wet cloth. A bucket filled with soapy suds was beside her. It was a clear day out at her brothers ranch. Being that is early spring it was time to help the horses to shed off their winter blues. Seeing their coats shine in the sunlight and hearing their neighs. It was good to start getting some of the horses out of the stables and getting them bathed. Being the Vet Doctor she is, she can check out there skin and check for anything that might be wrong with them. The ones she is dealing with right now look alright. There are a few older horses that aren't fairing to well. Can see it in there training or going for a normal walk. Most of the elder horses want to lay down in their pens and sleep.
Patting the back of the female horse she is cleaning and her legs are dancing around. She was enjoying being outside and getting washed. Once she is dried Amber will get on her back and braid her hair. Flower is being shown to a buyer today and it will make a good impression to look good. The work hands are mostly men and none of them know how to braid a horses hair. A simple thing to do once you get hang of it.
Coming around to stand in front of Flower and rubbing the white patch on her noise. Clear brown eyes were looking at her. Amber reaches into her coat and pulls out two sugar cubes. Eagerly takes the cubes into her mouth and eats them. Silly how animals can be when you feed them what they like.
"Now Flower that is the last two I can give you. I have more horses to see and I can't be running out of them now."
The horse takes as step forward and puts her head on Amber's shoulder. It makes her smile and she puts her arms around the horses neck and gives her a hug. Animals understand more then what humans give them credit for. They have the same needs as we do. Want to be loved and hug. Because of the sweet response she gave her, a other sugar cube comes out.
"How can I say no to any of you here. When you give me a hug like that Flower. All of your friends are going to get spoiled by me and I don't think Mystogan will like that."
"Will not like what sister?"
"I am having a conversation with her."
"But my name was mention."
"Just telling her how great my brother is."
"Lies!"
"It's true."
"Still lying. We know who is your favourite one is."
"I love you both equally."
Stands right beside her and pats her on the head. Just like when she was little. She swipes his hand away and moves away from him. He laughs at her and grabs her arm and pulls her into a brotherly hugs. Has missed giving her hugs and now that she is back does it every chance he has. Pushes out of his grasp and looks up at him.
"Mystogan stop it."
"I can't you are my little sister and I am entitled."
"I am working."
"Take a break and come with me."
"Why? I have to get her back into her pen and take out the next one."
"Someone else can do that. It will not take long."
"Fine. What is it?"
"Come."
Taking her hand and walks away from the stables and follows the path that leads to his house. His front door was open and he tells her to go inside. Removing her boots, so no dirt gets onto the carpet. Mystogan ask for her coat and hangs it up. Points with his finger to walk more into the house.
"It's time for lunch."
"It's that late already?"
"It is, you been so busy out there and haven't stop to smell the roses."
"They aren't in bloom yet."
"Don't get smart."
"If it's already noon I have to head over to Moon Drip."
"Not until you eat. Wendy would like to feed you."
"She shouldn't be doing that, resting is better."
"For now she is alright."
When they enter the dinning room. The plates were all laid out on the table. Glasses were filled with juice. Warm hot buns in a bowel with butter next to it. There were two empty seats that needed to be filled. The table had other visitors besides her.
"Big brother."
"Hey you, a little family gathering."
Jellal gets up from his seat and walks over to her and gives her a hug. She waves at Erza, holding Matthew in her arms. The twins were already eating their food. They couldn't wait for there Aunt to get inside. A long embrace with her brother, hasn't seen him a few weeks or the rest of the family too. Doing the two ranches, dealing with Gray and going home to be with Sting makes her extremely busy.
"We wanted to surprise you with this."
"It's wonderful to see everyone Jellal. No Grandfather?"
"Unable to come today. Is having lunch with his old friend."
"Gildarts?"
"Came to visit him a few days ago."
"Auntie Amber sit next to me."
"Ok Becky."
Jellal pulls out her chair and she sits down next to her adorable niece. Gives her a big hug and kiss on the cheek. Then she looks around the table as everyone is severing there plates. There was one more person missing at this table and he is in town working on his ex's apartment. Pick up a bun and ripping it open to spread butter on top and watching it melt. Lately she will zone out at work to think about Sting. How sweet he can be and gentle. He has always been like that. When she was in college and start to change who she was. Never question her why, but encourage her to carrying on.
When he started to get jealous of other guys trying to get close to her. She started to get butterflies in her stomach. Like the same way she did, when she was with Rouge. It was a indicator that she liked him. The butterflies left her, after he took her to bed the first time. Her first time at making love. Sex for him, but meant something more to her. Sting made her feel special when they came together the first time. Hold her close, sensitive all the way. At first she was freaked out that Sting would up and leave like Rogue did. Stayed until morning and has been with her since.
At college she would get the strange looks from the girls and could easily talk to the boys. Hang out with a few of them on a Friday night. Those that didn't have girlfriends. Over time, she strip away her overalls and checker shirts for prettier things. Then the girls were coming closer to her and wanting her to talk of boys and such. It wasn't her thing, and she stayed with the guys. Grew up this way for so long, that apart of her couldn't completely change over. If one of the guys she knew ask her to join a game of pool or outdoor football. Instantly would tag along and play.
Biting a piece of the bun, she continues to think back. With her friends being mostly boys. Going over to Sting, Rogues or even Laxus houses. It was easy to do, they all join up together. A certain person didn't like her tom boy attitude. Told her to be more of a lady and not play in the mud with them. What did it matter to him, he had no say. He was not family to her. A neighbour he was, always down the road. There were days he would say something to get her mad. If only Lyon was a girl he can pick on him, instead of her.
"You are frowning."
"What?"
"You're wrinkling up your brow."
"Am I now Erza."
"You were smiling about something then your face scrunch up."
"Sorry."
"Here lets put Matthew into your arms to make your happy again."
Didn't get the chance to say no to her, when he is being place into her arms. He was looking at her and it made her heart melt. The cutest thing in the world she is holding and can't wait for one of her own. Adjust Matthew with his head resting on her shoulder and her hand rubs his back. Then she sees everyone else looking at her. They know how much she loves her nieces and nephews would do anything for them if they asked.
"Why are you all looking at me like that?"
"Because sister he looks good in your arms."
"My husband is right Amber. Fits perfectly to you."
"Wendy, Mystogan enough!"
"Soon for you too Amber."
Her and Sting have not said anything to anyone about trying to conceive. She wasn't to sure if she should say something to them now. Didn't want them to get excited when she is not pregnant yet. Has been content with holding her brothers kids. Feels like when she is ready to announce that she is, they all will be thrilled.
"We will wait, not until we are marry Wendy. I am looking forward when you bring yours into the world."
"Six months feels like a long time. Erza says when I am at nine I'll be wanting the baby to come."
"I am sure what she says is true."
They all continue to eat and talk. It's been awhile that all of them have come together like this. With everyone dealing with their own lives, you have to show some give to be able to stay close to family. The meal filled all there stomachs and Matthew was place back into Erza arms to be feed by the bottle. As she gives him back, Becky and Jason holds onto her hands. Asking her to come with them. Heading towards the door to put on there shoes, Amber feels a vibrate of her cell in her pants pocket. Taking out her cell and looking at the screen she sees ten phone calls from him. Two text from Sting. Cursing herself that he had her number. She puts it back into her jeans pocket to ignore the next incoming call.
"You aren't going to answer that?"
"No, not yet, Jellal."
"Maybe you should?"
"They want to show me something."
"The kids can wait. Aren't you suppose to be over there?"
"Got tied up here. No matter, it's not like the horses are going anywhere."
"It's our fault of keeping you here. Lyon was told."
"It's fine brother I can handle it. I should go after them before they yell out my name."
"If you say so."
There youngest son was placed into his bassinet in the living room. Erza helped her twins get into their jackets. Her brother open up the door for them and Becky takes her by the hand again and pulls on her to leave the house. They both were very excited to show her something. Not to sure what that could be, but would indulge there curiosity.
"This way Auntie."
"Where are you taking me Becky."
"You will see."
"Kids show her then come back it's nap time."
"Yes mommy."
Whatever these twins had to show her, it had to be done quickly. Dark clouds were above them now, no more clear sky from earlier. So while they were eating it rolled in a storm. Rain has yet to come down, Can be a matter of few minutes or seconds. They were taking her past the barn over to a older well used barn. It's tall and wide and had old dusty windows. Didn't think it would still be in use, with how worn it looked. This is a ranch, anything could be used as storage. Walking by the newest barn had everything her brother wanted it in there. It was spacious and can hold all of the horses, for now. Until her brother decides he wants to expand.
"Auntie over here."
"Why here Jason?"
"You will see."
They have her stand near the older barn and again she can feel her cell phone go off again. No point in answering it right now. Her attention had to be on them. Jason pulls on her jacket to have her lower herself closer to him. Crouching a little to hear what he had to say.
"We have heard meowing coming from inside here. Ranger has been missing for awhile."
The farm cat, one of five of them, to help keep the mice down. Erza and Wendy detest them. Both women have scream at the top of their lungs if they see beady eyes running down the side of the wall in the barn. Wasn't her favourite animal to look as a vet doc, but people do own them as pets.
Listening herself to hear Ranger there was no noise at first. Then Becky calls out her name a few times. Very softly she can hear a meow. The direction of the cats voice was not coming from inside the barn, but up above on the roof. Can't see if she is up there by how tall she is. There was a ladder near by a shed. Grabbing it to take it over to the barn and starts to climb the ladder. Amber can feel rain drops on her head. Will be coming down more and not stopping for awhile. Before she reaches the top, she turns to children.
"You two go back into the house now. It's starting to rain, I'll find Ranger up here."
"Auntie we want to see her too."
"Becky, your mother wouldn't want you two to get wet. Now be good kids and go back inside. When I find her, I'll bring her in ok."
"Alright."
Holding her brother's hand they start walking back. Amber climbs the rest of the ladder to get on the roof. Part of the roof had a flat surface, it wasn't round like a dome time ago when the barn was still in use her grandfather fixed the roof surface due to some rotting wood. Didn't tear off the whole thing, thought the center can be replace. Who would go venturing up on the roof. Here she is walking on it. Very carefully she walks a little ways to call out Ranger name. Hearing the cat again she moves closer. There at the far end of the roof that was still shaped into a dome but covered up to how low the surface is, was a wall. A hole was formed by birds to make a nest. No birds were singing, and they haven't been back in some time. All the cats could have scared them away from making any more homes.
"Are you in there Ranger? You better be, those kids love you."
As she is inspecting the roof for a wayward cat, the twins almost reach the house when a car pulls up. Jason sees him first getting out of his car. Lets go of Becky's hand and runs over to him. Kneels down to his level and pats him on the head.
"Uncle Gray!"
"Hello Jason and you too Becky."
"Uncle!"
Gives her a pat on the head too and stands up. Looks towards the house and back at them. Puts his hands on his hips. It might be easier to ask them where she was, since she is not picking up her cell. Heard from his brother about the surprise lunch gathering for her. Needed to discuss something with her before she came to the Moon Drip. She made him come out here, could have prevent him to do so by picking up the calls.
"Is Amber in the house?"
"No Uncle."
"Is she in the stables Becky?"
"No, she is over there on the smaller barn roof. Trying to see if Ranger is there."
"On a roof?"
"Told us to get inside because it's starting to rain."
"It is raining, why don't you two head on inside. I'll go to her."
"Are you going to help in getting Ranger?"
"I'll see what I can do Becky, now go."
Running up there steps, and they both turn to wave at him before going inside. The twins don't know of the marriage between their Aunt and him. It wasn't necessary for two youngsters to understand the dilemma of the grown up world. When they were born and he was first introduce to them by Jellal. He told him, that his kids will call him Uncle. At fist he refused it, there marriage was on paper only. They were not together physically or intimately, when they do stand in a room together they argue. After all the fussy around, he cave in. Jellal got his way and Gray was made an Uncle until the marriage is done. Did tell Jellal not to say anything to Amber about it. He agreed for now, unsure if she knows about it. She is home now and it could have come up with the kids talking to her. Why would Becky and Jason talk to her about him.
They were now looking out the living room window as Gray walks to where to she is. Turning the corner at the barn he barely sees her red hair first. Can tell by the shape of the old barn that it has seen better days. This is just like her to do something so reckless with out asking for help from someone else. Just the other day seen her bump into the counter with the blood samples from a few of the horses and it almost fallen on the floor. Lucky she was able to recover them from falling.
Being careful were to step on the roof she gets closer to the hole. Can see some fur from where she is, but can it be Rangers? Carefully she gets on her knees and takes a peek inside. Sure enough it was Ranger in there. She also had a surprise for her.
"Oh my, now I know why you haven't come down. You had kittens, Ranger. This is no place to raise these babies."
He sees her take off her jacket and the rain was getting heavier. Stands by the ladder and continues to look up at her. Whatever she was doing he can't tell from here. Saw her get on her knees to do something. Gray was starting to get a not so good feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"It's ok Ranger, let me take them out."
Reaching for the orange kitten and placing it gently in her coat. Then grabbing for a orange and white one next. Ranger decides to scratch her and bite her hand for taking her offspring away. Can't blame a new mother cat to feel inferior of a human. It's best to get them out of here and into a place warmer. If a bigger bird comes near here, the kitten could get picked up. Afraid of that happening, and did not want to see her niece and nephew cry. They don't know about this, but it could happen to Ranger. With taking all of the kittens how is she going to get down with them. A voice interrupts her thoughts and makes her jump. Not unexpected it was to have him here, hoping he wasn't going to show up.
"Why in the hell are you up there? Get down!"
"The twins cat is here. I am trying to get her down. Now get lost!"
"You're not thinking right when it comes to animals. Being careless again, come down!"
"Will you shove it! I have rescue animals before this no different. Been on top of buildings a few times in my life."
"I remember clearly!"
The last kitten is place in the jacket and all of them are cradle in her arm. Standing back up and turning around. Can see the angry look in Gray's eyes. This isn't being careless, she is doing what she feels is right. Her shirt is now complexly soaked by the rain and her hair is sticking to her face. It was still tied back from when she was bathing the horses.
"Amber put the kittens back! You come down on your own. Can't get ranch workers to get them."
"There is no point in putting them back, when I have them."
The steps she takes are very slow and Gray watches on. Her heart was beating unsteadily, knowing of the last time this has happen. It resulted in falling off the roof and landing on Gray. They both were taken to the hospital, he suffered more then she did. He buffered her fall, but he was very mad at her. Didn't listen to him at all. Like she will this time.
"Amber! Watch where you are going, this barn is old. This roof is caved in the middle."
"You don't think I know that, Sherlock."
Raising his eyebrow at her banter. This would be consider strike three for him. She is no where in range for him to get her back. Not in the way she would think it would go. This women needs to be quiet and he would be more then willing to silence her. Right now he can't be concern with that, but getting her down safety is a priority and the rain isn't helping. He gets up on the ladder and she slowly makes her way over. His hands reaches for her jacket. So he can take them and she can be more capable of coming down the ladder.
"Give the kittens to me."
"I got them Gray."
"Amber!"
Gritting her teeth she hands her jacket over. It did make it easier for her to release them to him. Also gave her time to go back and get Ranger. Gray sees her turn and start walking back to the hole in the wall. His gut increases with that bad feeling.
"Amber what are you doing!"
"Ranger! I got to get her too!"
"No leave her. She will come out on her own. We have her kittens."
"I still got to get her!"
"You foolish women."
Moves forward and takes a other step. As her foot touches the roof tile, it goes right on through. She falls, with her hands out, bracing for a impacted. Thinking that she can stable herself and turn around to head for the ladder. As she looks back, with her foot caught in the roof. The whole gets bigger as the weight of her body can't hold up the roof board any longer. Cracking and breaking she can hear and all at once she drops down into the barn and everything goes black. Not before she hears her name being yelled out.
"Amber!"
Knew that this was a bad idea for her to be up there. Quickly gets down off the ladder and puts her jacket on the ground. Gray runs to the front of the barn as ranch hands had heard the shouting and seen her go through. Tries to open up the barn door, but it's locked with a chain on it. Turns to men that are coming and yells out orders.
"Someone get a key for this thing or something. Get Jellal out here now and someone call ambulance."
A crowbar was found and used on the chain to pry it from the door. It dangles and swings back and froth as the men open the door wide. There was a lot of barn stuff inside, almost filled right in. Gray starts moving stuff out of the way, and didn't care if he had to throw it behind him. The men do the same thing and Jellal comes running out with his brother.
The light and rain come through the hole in the roof. They all know where she is by the position of the hole, but what will they find. Will she be alright, unharmed. When she does these things he will get mad at her, but has never wanted her hurt. Even when she fell off and landed on him.
"Amber!"
Yanking things out the way he gets closer to her. Can see she is unconscious on her stomach, had crashed into a pile of boxes. There is blood dripping from the side of her head. Also blood pooling on the floor, sees a piece of rebar in upper part of her leg. When she fell, landed on one that was laid against the boxes. The rest are on the floor beside her. Moving stuff from around her as the ranch hands continue to take everything out of the barn. They will need the room to get her out.
"Sister!"
"Amber!"
Jellal and Mystogan come inside and get to where Gray is. Can see that is she injured and not responding to their voices. They had to get to her quickly and get her out of here. The last item Gray has he hands it over to a worker. Bends down and touches her neck, can see how pale she is. She looked really cold and that didn't help from the rain. Takes off his jacket and lays it on her after he feels her pulse. It was slightly there, but low. Probably due to her body being in shock. Mystogan comes closer and was about to lift her up into his arms. Gray puts his hand on his arm and shakes his head. Frowning back at him and pushed his hand away.
"Can't move her yet Mystogan. Don't know how serious this is and if we move her now. It might cause more harm."
"No, I can't allow her to lay like this Gray. She is injured, needs our help. Her head is bleeding."
"I know, but we must be careful. Your sister has done some crazy stunts in her life. Most of them have been with me. Are you willing to move her with that rebar in her leg?"
"This place can come down on us, if we don't."
"Shit!"
The interior is unstable and it look like it can't take any more. Is it because she went through that made the structure ready to fall down? If that is so, they can't keep her here. Why was this still up anyways? Should have been made into rubble. Running his fingers through his hair. A plan had to be done quickly. They would need a make shift stretcher to get her out.
"Alright, we will move her Jellal. Have to keep her head and leg stable."
"Why don't we pull out the rod?"
"I don't think that will be a good or wise choice."
"Okay, lets get some boards."
They were able to find some boards and nail them together. With the amount of men Mystogan has working underneath him. It was done at fast pace, didn't want to waste any time. The boards line up against her body. Her brothers, Gray took to easy roll her onto it. Then two of the workers left her up and get her out of the shed. When they get out, Gray brushes some of her hair out of her face and places his hand on her cheek. If only she wasn't so stubborn to begin with. A blanket from the house is used to cover her up. Jellal had ran back inside to get one. Didn't want her to get worse out in the rain.
Erza had to hold the twins back from going outside to see if their Aunt was okay. In the distance they can hear sirens. Soon she will be taken away to the hospital, to get help. They wanted her to wake up too. Also not to keen on that, if she wakes and sees the rebar in her leg, might just freak out. Jellal holds her hand and calls out her name. The many times he has accompany her to the hospital even with the smallest of injuries. Even when she was looking at his shotgun one time. It fired, but she got a dislocated shoulder. The bunt in of the gun was in the wrong place. Like Gray said, most of the accidents were with him. He was trying to stop her from playing with it. She just wanted to aim it, didn't think about pulling the trigger. Likely no one harm came to anyone when the shot was fried. When she got home, she was reprimand for her curious behaviour. His sister should have known better at 14 years of age. Old of enough to barrel ride with a horse and run away from a bull.
"Sis, wake up!"
"Brother she might of hit her head hard when she came down."
"All the time she has injured herself, this is the first with her head."
"Yeah, always had to deal with a sprain ankle or a broken bone."
"I don't know if she is a daredevil or doesn't realize the consequences."
"If I would have to guess you two, she is just plan stubborn."
"Gray..."
"Always going for the save of the animals risking her own well being."
"We can't stop her."
"I have tried to Jellal. More times I can count on my hand."
Sirens fade as the ambulance comes into the yarn. One of the hire hands Max directed the emergency paramedics where to go. They pulled up to the barn and step out to open the back hatch of the vehicle. The rain wasn't slowing down either, and there was flashes of lighting in the distance. Rain drops were pelting down on her as she remains on the wooden stretcher. Unbeknownst to her, the blanket was now getting soaked through, and her body temperature will colder. As there stretcher comes out from the back and sitting down the ground. A bag is grabbed by a women paramedic. Her partner pushes the gurney over to where the hire hands have her. They couldn't put her on the wet grass or asphalt pavement. There was no covering to put her under, to keep out the rain.
"We will put her onto here, she will be secured once the belts are in place."
"Can someone tell us what exactly happen."
Information was shared as they gently put her on the ambulance gurney and remove the pallets that was used to stable her. The jostle of her body had to be handle firmly by the paramedics. Didn't want more damage from the rebar. It was very long, but it will be cut in half. Then wrapped around the leg with a bandage to keep it from moving. Most people would pull it out thinking it will be fine. Given that she is knock out, who's to say she will feel it being ripped from her leg. It's for the purpose to keep the blood under control. If it sliced a main vain she could bleed out more. Loss more blood then need be. Having the rebar there as blood stopper, and letting doctors take care of it at the hospital.
Vitals were checked and they can tell that her heart was a little low. Can't do anything for it, since she has to come around. A new warm blanket gets put on her from the ambulance, then the paramedics start bringing her over to place her in the back. Before she gets place inside, the twins come rushing out from the house. Erza was no match to their determination to see there Aunt. A big hand stops them from going forward and Becky looks up at her Uncle. He lifts her up into his arms, where he wipes away her tears.
"Auntie Amber!"
"She will be alright Becky, they are taking her now to get looked over."
"Uncle Gray...she is hurt."
"You Aunt is a strong women, can overcome anything to comes her way. I have seen what she has been through. This is a small blunder, ok?"
"Well she be ok?"
"Yes, I am. Why don't you go back to your mom."
Erza takes her out of his arms and holds onto her Jason hand to walk back to the house. They stand in front of the door looking on. Amber gets loaded up into the ambulance, and Jellal steps his foot into the back but turns to Gray. He will be the one to ride with them. Offer them the medical information that is require. In a low voice he motions him to come over.
"You need to get to the hospital too."
"I was going to head there anyways."
"Good, because you have to speak to the doctors for any vital thing that comes up. I could do it myself too, but you have legal right Gray."
"Because of the Marriage."
"I wasn't going to shout it out to you because of everyone here."
"Alright, I am on my way."
Getting back into his car and leaving as the ambulance goes first. Mystogan gets into his truck to follow after Gray. Jellal uses his cell to start calling not only his grandfather, but Sting. Uncertain as to how his grandfather was going to take the news. Hasn't had to deal with a major accident from her in a long time. To how he is feeling he probably can't come, he said he was getting weaker. He is with Gildarts, the guy would know her history too. How would this effect his heart condition. It could make it worse, put stress on him he doesn't need. Forgoing to call him now is best, will do so when he knows more. Just like his Grandfather not telling Amber about him, he making the choice not to him about her.
"This isn't good."
Looking at her pale face, and holding onto her hand. Finished pushing in the number's of Stings cell. He was in town, so he could get to the hospital before they get there. This could be the first time Gray will use his status as the paper husband. It's not written down anywhere to call him, he wasn't made as a primary emergency number. Who does get to call the shots, him or Sting? He is in her life now, soon to be married to her. As the older brother, he would have more of a right.
"Hello Jellal! What is up?"
"Sting, glad I caught ya man. Something serious has happen."
"What is it?"
"Can you get to the hospital. Amber is injured."
"What! Injured? How? What happen?"
"We are riding to the hospital now. All I can say, is she fallen off the roof of a barn. A piece of rebar is in her thigh and possible a head injury."
"Oh God!"
"I am on my way now."
"You might beat us there. We just left the ranch."
"Lucy place is not far. Will be there under 3 minutes."
"Lucy's? Gray's girlfriend?"
"Doing a job for her."
"Tell me all that later. I got to go."
Hangs up on him as he knows that Sting wouldn't question him to why he did. Important to concentrate on his sister, then be bother to why he is helping out his ex and possible future bride of Gray's. Amber never told him of where he was working and haven't asked. Been so busy with his new son, family, and Grandfather haven't had the time to converse with him. Today's lunch he could have phone him up to come over. It was for his sister that he wanted to spend time with, should have consider him too.
Dropping what tools he had in his hands onto the table. There was no time to clean up, had to get to the hospital right away. It sounded that she was hurt pretty badly. Didn't want to think of the nature of how this came to be. Knows what lengths she has gone to over animals he can only guess the reason.
"I am sorry Lucy. I have to go."
"What is wrong?"
"Amber is hurt, being taken to the hospital."
"I hope she is ok."
"Me too."
Half hour ago, she came back from work. She was on a hour lunch break and wanted to see what kind of progress he has made. Lucy was ok with the work he has done, but it seamed she was still upset over something. Thought it was best not to ask, it could be none of his business to know. If he truly cared he would ask, and she could say no to his question. He couldn't ask if he wanted too, Amber comes first. Needed to get to the hospital, to see with his own eyes she is alright.
"About the mess."
"Don't worry about it, go!"
"Thanks."
Leaving her apartment and heading to his truck, the speed it took to get there. No cars were parked in front of him. Pulled out into the street and floored the gas pedal. Watching him go down the street and out of sight. Had her looking at what was left of her cupboards. Worked steadily he did and there was a lot clean up. Will not touch it, because it will be his job to do.
Her only option was coming home from work. Had tried to get a hold of Gray to get him to pick her up for lunch. Being declined to accept her invite had her mad. Told her that he was busy because of his horses. If it wasn't his job, it was the ranch. Always being pushed away like a stone. That only confirm what she has said to herself that night. If Gray can't filled her needs, she would seek it from somewhere else. The person she picked was the one that just left her place. This morning gave her a vibe that she can easily manipulate this situation. She was fine with bringing back her old ways. If one guy can't do it, plenty of men out there available to her. Lucy knows precisely how to get him.
"Sting, these next few weeks are going to be interesting. Will you be able to handle me again? Your body is what I need right now, so different from your younger self. Now where should I begin, to have what I desire."
