The Sailor Senshi and their husbands are watching their daughters roll around with each other on the floor, minus Trisha and Holly, who are a bit too old for that, until Rei walked in with Yuuchiro and, surprisingly, Phobos and Demimos, one on either of her shoulders.
"Guys and gals, I have an announcement to make." Rei giggled on one of her hormonal highs.
"Hi, Rei, Yuuchiro, Phobos, Deimos." Everyone replied with the babies just gazing at the elegantly beautiful Miko or shrine priestess, all attention on her.
"Yuichiro, myself, Phobos, and Deimos are going to go to my palace, Phobos and Deimos Castle, to perform Mars's ritual on my baby," Rei explained.
Rei's palace is named after the two moons which orbit Mars: A red-colored palace in the shape of a snow-globe, balanced on an arrow given to Sailor Mars when she was born and housed part of the power to summon the Holy Grail!
"Rei, baby!" Holly cheered.
"Good luck, Rei!" Minako wished her friend luck with Makoto, Setsuna, and Haruka nodding.
"We wish you well," Alan added, and Gracie squealed in her own way of wishing her well.
"We'll miss you," Ami said, but she smiled as she understood Rei had to do this.
"Crystal will too." Urawa laughed as he knew Crystal had no idea what was going on.
"Can't wait to see how beautiful your baby is going to be, Rei," Kent said kindly as he held Ariel.
"Have a safe trip, Rei," Hotaru advised as Emily sat in front of her mother.
"See you soon," Michiru bid in her sweetest and softest voice as she felt everyone else was being a bit too loud.
Trisha hugged Rei, mindful of her tender belly.
"Thanks, everyone. Don't worry, Trisha, I'll be back before you know it and with a new friend and teammate for you and the others." Rei promised the young girl, who seemed sad for some reason.
Unfortunately, Trisha did not say anything further but put on a brave smile. Like Ami, Rei used her natural physic powers to monitor her baby's condition as well. Though her pyromancy, manifesting images of future events in flames, is enigmatic and unreliable, she still has her precognition. Rei vowed if she used any of her other natural talents, she would not ASSUME anything if she was mistaken. Phobos and Deimos Palace inhabitants wore shades of red and pink!
On June 20th, only 10 days after Crystal's birth and the beginning of summer, Rei had her baby. Another girl, but once she was out, Phobos and Deimos attacked the staff, driving them from the room, then went for the baby!
"Hey!" Yuichirou grabbed a broom to swing at the ravens.
"Phobos, Demios, stop that!' Rei joined Yuichirou, trying to snatch her baby, but the birds picked the baby up, flew over, and dropped her into the palace flames!
"NO!" Rei and Yuichirou screamed in unison.
Rei sobbed as Trisha's sad face burst into her mind, was this what she had been upset about? Rei stopped when she heard the flames roar and, for the first time, Rei's pyromancy showed her a vision clear as day! Also, Rei could still hear her baby crying, but she could tell it was not from pain. She was just startled. Rei saw two figures in the fire, one tall and one tiny, with a line of fire transferring between them, so she guessed that must be her powers over Mars fire settling inside her daughter. Phobos and Deimos landed near the fire, watching intently, which made it obvious they had not been trying to kill the baby. They had been trying to help her!
Rei realized, without being exposed to Mars's fire, her baby would not be able to unlock the power inside as she grows.
"Rei..." Yuichirou waited until the spiritual woman looked at him. "What do you want to name her?"
Rei thought, then explained, "I don't want to remember this occasion as sad or terrifying. I want to remember it as happy and insightful, so how about...Christen?"
Not as delicate as her mother's name, but not as masculine as her father's, Yuichirou agreed. As Rei lifted her daughter out of the fire, she admired the shimmering, glowing red mark of Mars on the newborn's forehead. Sadly, Christen proves to be fussy and mean-spirited to the other baby girls when they started living back at the Crystal Palace! Rei expected her baby to be fussy as babies are, but why is she the only one causing problems? Rei and Yuichirou stressed trying and weed out Christen's bad habits, but the infant just was not old enough to get it.
In the courtyard, Rei watched Trisha oversee playtime as she prayed. In time, her daughter would come to be as good of friends as the rest are.
