Chapter 7

Nearly a month and a half later, as Dr. Odgen was on her way to her work at the hospital, she went over in her head the latest developments that doted her life.

After ten days of anguish, where Agent Crabtree lived a real nightmare, a call from Hamilton plagus part of his heartbreak. A lumberjack from the reserve in the Dundas Valley had found a young woman trapped in a tree two days after Effie's disappearance, with clear symptoms of dehydration. Effie was alive. Since police station number four, they had issued notice about the young lawyer throughout east Canada.

At first her friend was so disoriented that she gave no details of her identity. When she went with George to the hospital, she verified that Effie was clearly traumatized. I didn't want to talk to anyone.

Although William was reluctant, the young woman remained at home from being discharged from the hospital where she was admitted until she began to have obvious signs of recovery. However, the relationship between the agent and the lawyer seemed stagnant in a s still spot.

Amelia was being held in the psychiatric facility. He had treated the woman to tell them his sister's whereabouts. Unsuccessfully. The only thing I was clear about is that Dorothy was the brains of the strange duo. Amelia was an unbalanced young woman who obeyed her sister's guidelines.

For its part, the situation with station number 1 was becoming more tense. Bobby kept running away from justice. However, thanks to William's investigation, they suspected that Thomas' son had nothing to do with the murder in prison. Finding the culprit would be a much more difficult subject.

Although Decker was warned, everyone suspected that sooner or later the chief commissioner would reinstitute him in his post. They had no evidence of their involvement in the murky murder. Both Margaret and Nomi were very concerned about the inspector's situation.

As for Anna Fulford's case, all the bad news was triggered in a few days. Since they had no evidence against Rhodes, the inspector had no choice but to let him go. Several hours later the guy picked up a train at Toronto station on an unknown course. Connecting it to the Black Hand was an option that seemed totally unworkable. Anyway, deep in his heart, he feared that William would face the criminal gang directly. His life could be in serious danger if he took a step in the wrong direction.

A week after returning from Montreal they found a body in the river executed in the same way. They no longer had to wonder if the body in the morgue belonged to Anna or Thelma. Especially since this time the criminal did not use bleach as a method of getting rid of the body. They had disposed of the young hairdresser so that there were no loose ends left.

Both Harry and the hotel manager certified the identity of the body. In addition, William found that the mysterious footprints of the drum belonged to Thelma. A couple of days later they found the woman's only relative. An aunt who warned of her disappearance at police station 1.

For several days in a row William was looking for reliable clues about the murder without results. His level of frustration was so palpable that he had a sour argument with the inspector.

A break was only granted when the three fired sweet Anna Fulford. Reviewing among her diaries Julia discovered that Anna wanted to be cremated so that her ashes would be scattered in an open place. Full of life. In total freedom. So the three of them, on a cold winter morning when it was dawning, made Anna's last wish in Toronto's most beautiful park. While Harry opened the small chest where his mother's ashes had been collected, William read a small passage from the Bible.

In the days after, her husband was increasingly airtight. The motives were so varied that it would take several hours in front of him to understand all his actions. A task that was unworkable. Among other things because her husband spent too many hours at work. Like I dodged a conversation of problematic dyes.

As for Harry, she was still confused with her emotions. However, his heart told him that he could not remain anchored in the sad memories of the past. Harry was already a part of his life. now. An eight-year-old boy who had tragically lost his mother.

That's when I walk into the hospital. Nurse Sullivan approached with the planning of the day. He had to focus on his patients.
