She awoke from the feeling of dark magic. She looked into the shadowy corner and squinted. "Who's there?" Her brave intention came out as a squeak.
A boot stepped into the light until a full figure came into view. "You." She gasped.
Antonin Dolohov smiled down at her. "I thought-" She choked out.
"That I was dead?" He kneeled down in front of her and grasped her jaw tightly in one hand. He laughed cruelly as he lifted her head back in an attempt to kiss her neck.
Before she could cry or scream in terror she opened her eyes to the return of loneliness.
Only a dream. He is dead. You saw him lay limp on the drawing room floor.
She reminded herself over and over.
You may not be safe but you're safe from him.
She sighed and wrapped the ribbon tightly around her finger until it turned blue and then again and again.
The door scraped open and Hermione quickly hit the ribbon in her pocket. She sat up straighter and braced herself for who would step inside.
A death eater she recognized as the man who chased after her, Harry and Ron in the Ministry of Magic stepped into view. The man who had hold of her as she disapparted them. The cause of Ron's splinching.
Corban Yaxley.
"You're to come with me, Mudblood." He gestured towards the doorway with his two fingers.
Hermione didn't move. "For what?" She challenged. "Well, you'll surely find out when we get there." He added. "As in were leaving Lestrange Manor?" She realized.
He looked angry at this like he didn't just give her the clue. "We mustn't keep the Dark Lord waiting." He swiftly grabbed her forearm and pulled the girl along with him.
While awake she could see the route she was taken through to get to her personal cell. It wasn't far from the others. Her friends. They were just down the hall and it was obvious there were fewer of them inside than before.
Luna and Cho were both absent along with the obvious others she witnessed being burned to death. Where could they have taken the two Ravenclaws? What were they needed for?
No one made eye contact with her from behind the bars. She glanced at each of her peers in turn but everyone was either asleep or thinking too hard.
It was a quick journey up the stairs and outside the manor. They walked to a long, black automobile waiting for them in the courtyard. Hermione looked to Yaxley confused. Why would they be using a car and not just using any means of magical transportation?
"Dark Lord's orders." He shrugs. He opens the door for her and she slowly climbs in. What was waiting for her when the door would be opened again and she would be forced out of the car?
It was a long drive through rural areas and then finally some signs of life in the city became visible. The car finally stopped and the engine was cut off when they arrived in what looked like some sort of town square. It looked very familiar and Hermione had a feeling she's been there before.
Yaxley got out of the car and swept his hand out for her to exit as well. She stepped out and looked around in a circle. Behind her was a platform in front of the ruins of a family home. Harry's home when he was a little boy.
They were in Godric's Hollow.
I know the last two chapters are shorter than the rest but it felt right to end it here. If I went on any longer the pacing would be inconsistent. Although, I hope to get the next chapter up in the next couple of days.
