"...it sounds like it came down from over here!"

"O-oh! Hey, are you alright?!"

"H-here, let me help you up..."

"..."

"Your name's Chara, huh?"

"I like that name."

"Oh, mine?"

" -"

"Nnnnngghhh..." Frisk moaned, sitting up from where she had hit the deck. "Owwwww..." Frisk would glance around at her surroundings.

Somewhere dark, the sounds of rushing water around her with the only illumination being from half-functioning TV monitors or burning drums with garbage. Trash was piled in massive heaps near the walls, and the splinters of the dock from above. Ironically enough she seems to have landed on another patch of golden flowers.

"Frisk!" Chara said, flying down from above. "A-are you alright?!"

"I-in a lot of pain right now..." Frisk said. "Ch-check me, I don't know what my HP is..."

Chara would check the stats.

"OH GOOD LORD!" Chara said. "Shit, we need to get you patched up, you are literally inches within your Soul shattering!"

"D-dangit..." Frisk choked out. "A-and I don't think there's any sort of healing item on my person..."

"What about the pie?" Chara said.

"N-no!" Frisk said. "I-I still feel like I'm going to need that!"

"Crapbaskets..." Chara cursed to herself. "Alright, j-just stay still, I'll try to go find some healing items."

"P-please d-do-AAH!" Frisk said, feeling a large twinge of pain in her shoulder as Chara rushed over to the trash piles.

"C'mon, c'mon, there's gotta be something edible in here..." Chara grumbled, digging through the trash piles. "No, no, no, there's no way she'll eat something half-eaten."

At that moment she'd find a cooler half buried among the trash piles and ripped it open, soon finding a two brick-like candybars with the label reading 'Astronaut Food'.

"Jackpot!" Chara said, pulling out the two candybars and rushing back to Frisk. "Frisk, quick, here!"

"Wh-what i-"

"Don't question it, just eat, quick!" Chara said, unwrapping the food and stuffing it into Frisk's mouth.

"Mmmmphh!" Frisk choked a bit before she swallowed.

"Nnngggh..." Frisk moaned, standing up. "I-it's not much but it'll be enough to get me through to the next rest area... wherever that may be."

"We'll get there." Chara said. "You able to walk at all?"

"I-I think I can." Frisk said, starting to stumble a bit as she started to wade through the hip-deep waters of this garbage dump. "Ugh... good thing I have spare clothes packed with me..."

Coming out of the chokepoint where she fell, Frisk would fins a small wooden platform in the center of the next room, waterfalls pouring from above and down into the inky black abyss below. The faint yellow glow of a SAVE Point came from the platform as Frisk approached.

Waterfall - Trash Zone

File Saved.

Taking a deep breath, Frisk would venture on deeper as she continued to wade hip-deep in the flooded dump. Upon entry to the next room she'd find it took a sharp left, seemingly heading upwards towards something. Frisk took a deep breath as she slowly approached towards the exit... until she jumped at the sound of something falling over. Quickly darting her eyes around, she'd soon find the source of the sound... as it was just a fallen-over training dummy floating in the waters of the dump. Frisk sighed in relief as she continued to walk for the slope leading out of the garbage dump...

...until she was struck in the back by a projectile and flung forward face-first into the water.

22/35 - 20/35

Frisk would pick herself up, coughing and sputtering from the dirty water that had now gotten into her mouth and face. "Now what..." She whimpered.

"AHA! SO IT IS YOU!" A voice yelled as soon that dummy splashed up in front of her... though this time it appeared notably more enraged. "So it's you! You're the human!"

Frisk shook a bit. "P-please, I'm just trying to get thr-"

"You're the one my cousin saw kill that beast in the Ruins!" The dummy continued. "You think you're so high and mighty of yourself now, don't you?!"

"Wh-what?!" Frisk cried out. "N-no! L-leave me alone!"

"Foolish! Foolish! FOOLISH!" The dummy roared. "You think I would fall for such a feeble lie like that?"

Frisk was nearly choking up in tears by this point. "P-p-please... g-go away..."

"ENOUGH!" The dummy roared, glaring daggers at Frisk. "Your time has come! Now to end it!"

The battle sequence started.

*Mad Dummy blocks the way!

Frisk was outright shaking at this point. Couldn't things just be calm for five minutes while she was in here?!

"Frisk?" Chara said, touching the human's shoulder. "You need me to take over this one?"

Frisk shook her head, motioning to the ACT button and selecting *Check.

*MAD DUMMY - HP 500 ATK 30 DEF YES

*He's not like Red, he won't take physical damage. Find another way!

Frisk swallowed hard at reading that Check. How was she supposed to drive away something she couldn't even inflict damage on?!

"Pitiful pitiful PITIFUL!" The dummy roared as several mini-dummies popped up from the surrounding borders of the battle box. All of the would open fire on Frisk's Soul, the human panicking and swiping her Soul out of the way... just for the cotton bullets to slam straight into Mad Dummy itself.

"NAAAAAAAGH, NINCOMPOOPS!" It roared. "Aim your magic attacks at her, not me!" The Mad Dummy then froze at the realization of what it just said. "You didn't hear anything! Shut up!"

"Bingo." Chara grinned. "You hear that Frisk? Throw his attacks right back at him!"

"O-okay!" Frisk said, selecting to skip her turn.

"Attack again! More with gusto!" The dummy roared as the mini-dummies came up from the front of the box and fired off their cotton bullets right for Frisk.

"I got an idea." Chara smiled. "You ever played baseball before?"

"Yeah?" Frisk answered.

"You're up to bat."

Frisk smiled as she stepped back, readying the stick in her hands as she swung hard, sending the cotton bullets everywhere away from her, some slamming into the dummy itself.

"What the hell?!" The dummy roared. "Oh, so you think you're calling the shots now are you?!"

"I'm just defending myself." Frisk said, skipping her turn.

"Defend THIS!" The dummy spat back, the mini-dummies soon popping up from the sides of the battle box and flashing red.

"What are they..." Frisk started to ask herself, before they started diving for her! Frisk would dive her Soul out of the way just in time for the flying mini-dummies to miss her. Frisk would get back up and select to skip her turn again.

The Mad Dummy growled before more of the mini-dummies popped up, firing off more cotton bullets at the human. Frisk dodged her Soul out of the way as the cotton bullets slammed into Mad Dummy again, only seeming to grow his rage.

"YOU MORONS!" The Dummy roared as Frisk skipped her turn again. "CAN'T YOU IDIOTS DO ANYTHING RIGHT?!"

"Sounds to me your friends have trust issues." Frisk commented, choosing to skip her turn again.

"NRRAAAAGH!" The dummy roared, soon summoning all the mini-dummies nearby. "IDIOTS, MORONS, NINCOMPOOPS! CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT?!"

The mini-dummies looked disappointed.

"GAAAH, YOU'RE ALL BEING REPLACED! THE LOT OF YOU!" Mad Dummy roared, the mini-dummies sinking back and away. "We'll see how confident you are now once you're blasted to bits! DUMBOTS, ATTACK!"

Shortly after that mechanical versions of the mini-dummies would pop up from the borders of the box, soon letting out a beeping sound as their heads opened up and fired off a missile from each of them headed straight for Frisk!

Frisk sidestepped before being thrown forward as the missiles had wrapped back around and slammed back into her, throwing her into the drink once again.

20/35 - 12/35

Frisk coughed up the water in her mouth as she got back to her feet, gripping tightly to her stick.

"My guess is those missiles have very limited homing properties." Chara whispered to Frisk. "Give them enough of the wrap around, you might just be able to slam them into it!"

Frisk nodded as she elected to skip her turn again.

"Dummy bots! AGAIN!" The bots would pop again as they fired off their missiles again. Frisk would swerve around again as the missiles would then wrap around and slam back into the dummy!"

"GAAAAAHHHH! IMBECILES!" The dummy yelled. "Fine then! Fine then! FINE THEN! Who needs these robotic morons!" At that moment, the dummy pulled out a dagger. "I HAVE KNIVES!"

"Frisk, watch ou-"

Chara's warning fell as the blade moved so fast Frisk didn't have enough time to react as the blade embedded itself deep into her right shoulder. Frisk screamed in pain as she fell to her knees, the blood trickling down her body as she coughed up a bit of blood.

12/35 - 1/35

"GAHHAHAHAHAHAH!" The dummy roared in laughter. "You like that?! I may be out of knives but you can't hurt me, but I can't hurt you! You'll be stuck in here FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER!" The dummy would be laughing again as Frisk writhed in pain...

...that is, until liquid started raining from the ceiling, causing him to flinch.

"GEEH! WHAT THE-" The Dummy yelled. "Acid rain?!"

"Wh-wh-" Frisk started to choke out.

"Forget this! I've wasted enough time with you loon!" The dummy said, soon flying off somewhere. Soon enough it was revealed who was the cause of the sudden rain... as it turned out to be none other than the ghost from the Ruins, Napstablook.

"...oh... i interrupted things, didn't i..." The spirit said.

"N-nono, i-it's fine, thank you..." Frisk said, coughing a bit. "I-I just-"

"you look like you're in pain... maybe your friend would like to help escort you to my house for help?" Napstablook offered.

"S-sure that'd be-" Frisk started speaking before a record scratch played in her head. "W-wait, friend?"

"...oh, is the red ghost not your friend?" Napstablook asked.

Both Frisk and Chara froze up.

"Wait, you... you can see me?!" Chara said.

"...oh... am i not supposed to see you?" Napstablook asked.

"N-no! I-I thought I was invisible to everyone except Frisk!" Chara said. "How-"

"C-can we please have this discussion later?!" Frisk choked out.

"...she has a point... let's get her to my house..." Napstablook answered, moving closer...

*YOU WON!

*You gained 0 EXP, 0 Exp. Points and 0 G.

The sound of running water and rising steam would be coming from the bathroom as Frisk sank into the suds in the tub, her old ruined clothes in a pile on the floor as her new clothes were freshly laid out on a small cabinet nearby. She exhaled, feeling the warm water washing away the grime and filth of the garbage dump, and along with it the stress of what the entirety of the past points of Waterfall had thrown at her. The chases, the near-death experiences, the door...

Frisk shuddered again. That door was not going to be something she forgot for a long time... it just felt so... wrong...

She let our a visible exhale, sinking into the suds to the point that her nose was just above the water, trying to let her anxiety melt away into the waters below... as she felt her shoulder sting from the removed knife wound that had stabbed her. She sighed through her nose, just trying to close her eyes and drift into a small nap she so desperately needed...

-VMMMMMMM- -VMMMMMMM-

Of course it was set on vibrate.

Taking a heavy sigh, Frisk would sit up more and reach out of the tub, grabbing her phone from her backpack on the floor next to the cabinet that her clothes rested on and open it up.

"Hello?" She asked into the receiver.

"OH MY GOD THE HUMAN IS ALIVE!" Papyrus' voice seemed to yell from the other end of the receiver as Frisk jumped in shock, nearly dropping the phone in the tub.

"P-Papyrus?" Frisk asked. "W-what's going on?"

"We heard what happened from our meeting with Undyne." Red spoke into the speakerphone; apparently she was with Papyrus as well. "Are you alright?! We thought you were killed!"

"I-I'm fine..." Frisk said. "I'm at Napstablook's house right now. He found me after that dock collapsed and I crashed into the garbage dump, an-"

"You fell all the way to the garbage dump?!" Red exclaimed. "Oh my god, th-that's like a ninety foot dropoff from the upper docks! H-how are you not hurt from that?!"

"Uh... Determination?" Frisk answered.

"WELL AS LONG AS THE HUMAN IS SAFE, THAT IS WHAT MATTERS THE MOST!" Papyrus said from the other end of the phone. "YOU'RE ALMOST OUT OF WATERFALL HUMAN! JUST PAST WHERE THOSE HOMES ARE SHOULD BE THE ILLUMINA CAVERNS, AND AFTER THAT YOU SHOULD BE HOME FREE ONTO HOTLAND."

Frisk sighed in relief. "So I'm almost out of here?"

"ALMOST OUT OF WATERFALL THAT IS." Papyrus answered. "WE HAVE FAITH IN YOU HUMAN! YOU CAN MAKE IT!"

"Wait, wh-what happened at that meeting with Undyne?" Frisk asked.

"Well..." Red started.

"Thank you both for coming on such short notice." The armored figure spoke as the living doll and the skeleton approached it. "I apologize if this is cutting to either of your respectable schedules."

"NO WORRIES UNDYNE." Papyrus said. "JUST THE USUAL PUZZLE RECALIBRATION FOR ME."

"And myself keeping an eye on the forest..." Red annexed. "I don't mean to push but... what is this about?"

"That... is the concerning matter." Undyne said. "I'm sure both of you are aware of the dock bridges right after the drenched corridor, correct?"

"You mean the location that never stops raining, correct?" Red asked.

"Correct." Undyne responded. "I had ran into the human there, and had her cornered at the edges of the destroyed bridge so she couldn't escape, th-"

"YOU DESTROYED THE BRIDGE?" Papyrus asked. "HOW ARE THE OTHERS GOING TO TRAVERSE WATERFALL?"

"There's a shortcut by my house, that's not a concern." Undyne spoke.

"Then... where's the human if she couldn't escape?" Red asked.

"That's the concern." Undyne spoke. "Someone... or something... decided to destroy the bridge between the human and myself."

"...WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?"

"Her section of the bridge completely collapsed and she fell down below." Undyne said. "At this point with how the water currents run there's no telling where that thing will end up. Or the fact if it'll even have an intact Soul by the time we find it."

"..." Both Red and Papyrus fell silent.

"At this point we're potentially looking for a dead body." Undyne spoke, starting to leave. "If either of you have any bearings on the whereabouts to the human's location, come to me. We can't afford to have this human get away."

"...and that's the gist of it." Red spoke. "If there's any point for you to get out of Waterfall safely, it's now."

"A-alright." Frisk breathed. "A-again, I can't thank you guys enough for helping me..."

"NO PROBLEM HUMAN!" Papyrus said. "JUST KEEP YOURSELF SAFE! I'M SURE WE WILL MEET AGAIN!"

Frisk smiled a bit, hanging up as she set her phone back onto the cabinet. Sighing once again, she'd sink back down into the suds as rest flooded her mind...

"I... just don't get it though." Chara said. "Nearly any other time I've been around no one's ever been able to see me, yet you're the first one that can actually do so." She was pacing back and forth across the main room as Napstablook just watched.

"...well, maybe it has... to do with the fact you're now a ghost?" Napstablook offered.

"That doesn't explain how you can interact with other people and I can only interact with Frisk..." Chara said, still pacing with a hand on her chin.

"...maybe it has something to do with your soul?" Napstablook offered.

"Wh..." Chara froze up. "What do you mean?"

"...i mean... it looks all... weird..." Napstablook said.

"...but..." Chara said. "I shouldn't have one..."

"...then i dunno what those shards are..."

Chara froze up. "Sh-shards?!" She breathed, soon holding out her hand and doing the same method to summoning her own Soul into her hand.

What she saw had completely shocked her.

She had a Soul. Fractured in pieces and barely holding on, but it was there.

"I..." Chara said, her Soul vanishing from view. "How..."

"...you seem confused..." Napstablook said. "are you alright?"

Chara was about to answer before Frisk had opened the door to the bathroom, fully refreshed and redressed in a fresh pair of clothing.

"Alright, I'm ready to go!" Frisk said, looking into the room. "...am I interrupting anything?"

"N-nope! We're good!" Chara said.

Frisk tilted her head to the side. "Are... you sure?"

"Yep! Totally fine!" Chara said.

"...are you sure you all don't need anything before you go?" Napstablook asked. "i mean, i can at least direct you to gerson's shop before you leave waterfall..."

Frisk nodded. "That'd be great Mr. Napstablook!" She said.

Napstablook merely nodded as they took Frisk and Chara to the nearby shop...

"Wehehell! Fancy seein' some new faces around here." A voice said as Napstablook led Frisk and Chara into the nearby cave. "This a friend of yours Naps?"

"...well, yeah... uh..." Napstablook said. "she was looking to get some items before she continued on?"

"Wa ha! Well she came to the right place!" The voice replied. "Here lemme just get the light quick..."

Soon enough the sound of a struck match was heard as what appeared to be a green scaly hand was holding it, soon lighting up what would be a gas lantern, revealing it to be a large tortoise monster dressed in tan archeologist gear, and a pointed whispy beard. "So, this the new face I've been hearing making the rounds around here?"

"yeah..." Napstablook answered. "...well, i need to get back to my music production... take care everyone..."

And with that Napstablook faded from view, leaving Frisk and the invisible Chara with the shopkeeper.

"Uhhh, h-hi..." Frisk said. "Y-you're Mr. Gerson?"

"What's it mean to you?" The monster replied, leaning over the counter of the makeshift store.

Frisk seemed to shrink back a bit as she struggled to come up with a response... at least until the monster started laughing a bit and hitting his arm on the counter.

"Naaaaah I'm just messin' with ya, yeah I'm Gerson, what brings ya here?" The tortoise responded.

Frisk breathed a sigh of relief as she reapproached the counter. "I-I was told you had some wares for sale?"

"Of course!" The tortoise said, setting out the wares of what appeared to be some sort of fruit and glowing drinks out on the counter. "It's not much, but I at least got some HP recovery items here."

Frisk would purchase two of the Crab Apples and a Sea Tea, handing over 43 G as payment. It would be at that moment Frisk would notice the emblem on the back wall.

"Hey, uh... what's that?" Frisk asked, pointing at the emblem.

"What, ya don't know what that ol' thing is?" Gerson said, glancing back at it. "Man what are they teachin' you youngin's in school these days..."

A bit of silence before Gerson laughed again.

"That's a bit of age humor for ya there kid." He responded, before continuing on. "That emblem right there is the Delta Rune, the emblem of our kingdom. The Kingdom... of Monsters."

"Oh... that's it?" Frisk asked.

Gerson let out another hearty laugh. "I know, right? Ol' King Fluffybuns may be a great ruler, but he can't name things for beans!"

Frisk giggled a bit before looking over the emblem. "It's a really beautiful emblem... what does it mean?"

"Heh, not many people know." Gerson replied. "The actual emblem itself predates our written history, believe it or not, meaning the original intent's sadly been lost to the hands of time... the only thing we've come across for sure is that these triangles down here..." He'd say, pointing at the triangles on the emblem. "represent us monsters and that the circle and wings up here..." He'd then point to the upper half of the emblem. "represents... somethin' else." He'd then sit back. "Most people have started theorhizin' that it's the 'angel' of the prophecy..."

"Prophecy?" Frisk asked.

"Sheesh kid, they really not teachin' you this in school?" Gerson commented before he continued. "Either way the gist of it is that an 'angel' would descend from the surface and come to liberate monsterkind. Though lately people have been takin' a bleaker outlook to the thing..."

"What do you mean?" Frisk asked.

"Well..." Gerson said. "Some people have been callin' that circle the 'Angel of Death'..." He started making air quotes with his hands. "Claimin' that it's coming down to 'free' us from this mortal coil and all that hulabaloo..."

Frisk seemed uneasy, swallowing a bit.

"Personally when I look at it..." Gerson said, looking up at the emblem. "I just think it's neat, heh."

Frisk sighed in relief, then asked another question.

"Do... you know anything about an Undyne?" She asked.

"Undyne you say?" Gerson responded. "Heh, yeah, she's a bit of a local hero 'round these parts. Grit and determination was what got her to the top of the Royal Guard."

He'd then lean forward, squinting a bit. "Come to think of it... she did pass through here a bit earlier asking about someone who looked just like ya..." He said. "I'd keep an eye on your back kid, and maybe use some of those wares. Might save your hide!"

"N-noted." Frisk said, swallowing. "I-I really should be going now..."

"Heh, be careful out there kid!" Gerson said as Frisk exited the shop. He'd lean back on his chair, tipping his pith helmet so the brim was covering his eyes. "Boy have I ever lived long enough to see another human after the last one that came through here..."

'Hurt, beaten, and fearful for our lives, we surrendered peacefully to the humans. Seven of their most powerful mages cast a spell that would seal us underground for all of eternity. Anything can enter through the seal, but only those with a powerful Soul may exit it. There be only one way to break this spell; if the force of seven human Souls were to be gathered, the power created from an attack from them would be enough to shatter the binds that hold us here. But this cursed place is a labyrinth of sounds and smells, of misdirection and misfortune. A labyrinth with no exit; a maze with no prize. There is no way a human would be able to come down here. We will remain trapped down here...'

"...forever." Chara finished speaking as the two came to the other side of the waterfalling room next to the shop. "It's... a sad tale." She spoke, crossing her arms.

"It... really is..." Frisk sighed in sadness, soon walking ahead in the room... only to find it pitch black. "Wh-what's going on in here?"

"We're in the Illumina Caverns now." Chara said. "We're not that far from the exit. Try using the mushrooms to light the way."

Frisk nodded, approaching the nearby mushroom and touching it as it glowed a beautiful cyan, the spore particles on the surrounding glass lighting up as it showed two separate paths ahead into the darkness. Frisk, taking a deep breath, chose to go to her right and follow the path along that way, slowly moving among the grass before she started seeing the path starting to open up...

...what soon appeared before her was some sort of makeshift village of boxes and christmas lights, flashing in a sort of strobing effect above the small village. Small animal-like creatures with white fur and black hair wearing blue sweaters would be seen strewn around the small village, some vibrating, some acting goofy, others just seemingly communicating with eachother.

"What in the..." Frisk asked, before being approached by one of the creatures.

"h0i!" The creature said, taking Frisk aback. "welcom to... TEM VILLAGE!"

"Uh... hi..." Frisk said, making a small wave. "Uhm... wh-where's the shop info?" She asked.

"Ooooaoaoaoaoa! tem shop! tem shop!" The creature said, soon pointing down the center of the village. "strait daon an taek ferst left! cant miSS!"

"O...kay..." Frisk said, starting to walk down towards the hole-in-the-wall shop before crawling into it.

Inside it seemed to be a mere wooden shack with a few shelves and a center box shelf with the words "Tem Shop" crudely painted onto it. Heading at the counter was another Temmie, this one wearing a cyan and yellow striped sweated and with grey-ish hair instead.

"Oh! Hi there!" The Temmie said, propping herself up onto the counter. "Welcome to the Tem Shop! Can I help you?"

"O-oh?" Frisk asked. "Y-ou speak normally?"

"Well, as normal as a Temmie can get." The shopkeeper said, leaning on one arm. "I'm Temmie by the way, you?"

"I-I'm Frisk." the human responded. "What... is this place?"

"What, this entire village?" The Temmie responded. "Uh DOY, it's Temmie Village!"

"Okay..." Frisk answered. "Uhm... is the exit to Waterfall through here?" She asked.

"Ooooooh, you're looking for the way to Hotland!" Temmie responded. "Alright, so what you're gonna wanna do is head back into the cavern and take the other path until you hit the cave area with the darkening crystals. Once you're through there, it's a straight shot to the crag rock that leads to Hotland. You'll know you're going the right way once you see Hotland's neon sign!"

"Alright, thank you!" Frisk said, soon backing out of the store.

"Come again!"

The further and further Frisk went, the darker and darker it got, to the point where Frisk couldn't even see where she was going... and once her foot hit water she groaned.

"Not again..." She grumbled as she fast-waded across the water to the other side of it. The path seemed to narrow as she soon came across a single echo flower at the end of the corridor.

"A... flower?" Frisk spoke to herself, before leaning in to the plant...

What she heard made her blood run cold.

"...behind you."

Frisk didn't even get time to react as the magic spear whizzed by and hooked onto the sleeve of her sweater and embedded into the wall, trapping her. Her throat tightened as she tried to struggle to get away from being trapped to the wall, Chara rematerializing as she tried desperately to rip the spear from its rocky hold...

"I knew if I asked around I'd find that you survived that fall..." The armored figure said, summoning another spear into its hands as it began to approach the human. "You've certainly given me a hell of a runaround trying to find your pathetic little ass."

Frisk strained herself more against the spear as the armored figure came closer and closer.

"This is your last chance at redemption for your kind." The figure growled. "Either you give up your Soul... or I'll take it from you by force."

Frisk swallowed as the armored figure charged her...

The battle sequence sta-

"UNDYNE! I'LL HELP YOU FIGHT!"

The transition was abruptly interrupted as the monster kid from earlier burst from the nearby tall grass, soon spilling out between Undyne and Frisk as he faceplanted in a pile, soon getting back up and bouncing on his feet, looking between the armored figure and the clearly terrified human.

"You did it dude!" The kid said. "Undyne's RIGHT in front of you! You've got front row seats to her fight!"

"Oh... joy..." Frisk choked out as she still shuddered in fear from the large imposing armored figure.

However it only took another two seconds before the hamster wheel inside MK's head to click.

"Wait..." The kid said. "Who's she fighting?"

As Frisk was about to answer, Undyne soon grabbed the monster kid as she started hauling him off away from Frisk, angrily commenting about in how much trouble he's getting, and the kid reciprocating his fears of getting in trouble with his parents. Frisk sighed in relief as Chara finally managed to pry the spear from the wall, the energy speak clanking on the ground before disintegrating.

"That... was way too close..." Chara panted. "We need to move, now, before that thing comes back."

Frisk nodded, soon taking off back to the water before taking the route upwards they didn't see before because of the darkness. Wading through the water once again to the other side, they two would then take a hard right and start running across another bridge-

"Yo."

Frisk skidded to a halt, looking back.

It was the Monster Kid.

Frisk froze up as the monster approached her.

"Hey, I know I'm not supposed to be here, but..." The kid started, seemingly looking sad. "I wanna ask you something."

"Y-yeah?" Frisk asked.

"..." The kid struggled to find the words. "You're... you're a human, right?"

The silence was so thick you could almost cut it with a knife.

Frisk just swallowed.

"...that means you are, aren't you?" The kid said. "...heh. I knew it! ...well, I mean I know it now, but..."

The kid seemed to awkwardly shift on his feet as he looked at Frisk again.

"Undyne told me 'stay away from that human'. So, uh..." The kid awkwardly commented. "I guess that makes us enemies or something?"

Frisk swallowed a bit.

"But I kinda stink at that..." The kid continued. "Hey, could you say something mean so I could hate you? Please?"

Frisk froze up, her mind drawing a complete blank.

"I..." Frisk started. "You... you..." She sighed, hanging her head. "...I can't do it. You've done nothing wrong to me..."

"So I gotta be the one to say it?" MK said. "Well... here goes I guess?"

Monster Kid would inhale a bit before they spoke again.

"Yo, I... I hate your guts." MK said, trying to sound intimidating.

It failed.

"... Man, I... I'm such a turd..." MK said. "I... I'm just gonna go home now. I'm sorry for all of this." They said, turning and starting to walk away.

"I-it's not your fault though!" Frisk said. "Honestly!"

But at that moment MK's legs once again tripped them up, soon sending him faceplanting... and over the side of the bridge. Frisk gasped in horror as she just saw what happened in almost a complete slow-motion...

"H-hey! H-help me!" MK called from his half occupied mouth holding onto the bridge. "I-I can't hold on for long!"

Frisk was about to rush to the kid's aid... but then Undyne came stomping up from the opposite side of the bridge, blocking the way back into Waterfall. Frisk froze up at he situation in front of her, starting to weigh her options in a frenzied panic as she glanced between her options, to help the kid or flee for the exit to Hotland...

...her heart won out in the end.

She made a mad-dash for the Monster kid just as the wood gave out from their mouth, causing them to fall... and just barely be grabbed by the ankles by Frisk as she precariously hung over the edge of the bridge. Unlike the earlier bridge, the only thing underneath this one was a bunch of stalactites. Taking a deep breath, Frisk would hoist MK back up onto the bridge, sprawled out onto a panting mess from her sudden burst of adrenaline.

"Y... you saved my life..." MK breathed as Undyne started to draw close, causing the kid to jump to their feet.

"H-hey!" MK yelled at Undyne. "I-I-If you wanna hurt my friend... y-you're gonna h-have to get through me first!"

Upon hearing this, Undyne would seemingly back off and move back into the caves of Waterfall, out of sight from the two. MK sighed in relief as they turned to Frisk.

"Yo, you... really saved my skin there..." They said, helping Frisk up. "I guess being enemies was just a nice thought, huh? Heh..."

"Why not just be friends?" Frisk asked. "It's clear enough you don't want to hurt me..."

"...you're right." MK said. "Let's be friends."

Frisk smiled and nodded. "I'd love to."

"...man I should probably get home. My parents must be worried sick about me!" MK said, soon turning and running off. "See you around!"

Frisk waved as the monster ran off. "Be safe out there!" She called as Chara rematerialized.

"I'll give ya credit where credit's due; that was a hell of a ballsy move you just pulled back there." She commented. "I almost thought I'd have to jump in and pull you both back onto the bridge."

Frisk shuddered a bit. "L-let's just keep moving. We should almost be home-free to Hotland."

Chara nodded as Frisk took off across the remainder of the bridge, soon running across another cliffface as she noticed that it was... getting brighter?

Chara smelled the air for a moment. "Brimstone. We're getting close to the exit." She said, soon seeing the gigantic crag rock spire holding the last tunnel.

"That must be the entrance!" Frisk said, before noticing a SAVE Point, making time to quickly stop off at it.

Frisk LV1 EXLV5 47:10

Waterfall - Undyne Arena

File Saved.

"...uh oh." Chara said, before she and Frisk glanced behind themselves, soon seeing something on top of the crag above them, standing out against the orange lighting of the magma pits of afar.

It was the armored Undyne again.

"...seven." She started speaking.

Frisk looked to Chara in confusion before Undyne continued.

"Seven human Souls, and King Asgore will become a god." The armored figure continued. "Six. That's how many we've collected thus far." She would then turn to look down at the human.

"Understand?" She dryly commented. "Through your seventh and final Soul, this world will be transformed. First, however, as is customary for those who make it this far... I shall tell you the tragic tale of our people... It all started, long ago..."

Undyne would turn away from the human, falling silent as she seemingly stared off into space. Frisk started to feel mildly uncomfortable at the situation at hand...

"...actually, no. You know what?" Undyne said, turning back to the human.

"Wh-wha-"

"SCREW IT!" The armored figure roared. "WHY SHOULD I TELL YOU THAT STORY WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE!?"

At that point she let our a blood-curdling roar as the entire area seemed to go white from an unknown light source, temporarily blinding both Frisk and Chara. The sound of a metal clank was heard and when the light died down, Frisk opened her eyes to see the helmet discarded on the ground. Looking back up at the figure above, she could see it wasn't a plume sticking out of the helmet.

That was a ponytail.

The new head that laid before Frisk's eyes had a vibrant red hair, the ponytail flowing in the wind as a stark contrast to the dark blue skin that accompanied it. Two -fin like appendages seemed to be sticking out of the head where the ears would be as Undyne still had her back turned to Frisk. But all it took was a slight turn to see the glint of yellow from Undyne's left eye before she fully turned around, revealing the other covered by an eyepatch, and a grin filled to the brim with sharp yellow teeth.

"YOU!" She roared, pointing directly at Frisk. "You're standing in the way of everyone's hopes and dreams! Alphys' history books made me think humans were cool, what with their giant robot mechs and their flowery swordswomen-"

"Is-" Chara squinted. "Is she describing anime?"

"but you're nothing more than a coward! Hiding behind that kid just so you could run away from me again! And that's not even counting that saccharine goody-two-shoes shtick!" Undyne yelled. "OOOOOH! I'm making such a difference by hugging random strangers!" She'd mock.

"Hey..." Frisk said, trying to get a word in before Undyne interrupted.

"You know what would be more valuable to the monsters down here? IF YOU WERE DEAD!" The fish-knight yelled. "The longer you continue to live, the longer you are sacrificing the monster's hopes and dreams of ever seeing the sunlight again! Right now I can feel the heartbeats of everyone in the Underground! Everyone's been waiting their whole lives for this moment! You think you humans are the most determined?"

She'd then let out a laugh.

"I'll show you just how determined us monsters can be!" She roared. "Step forward when you're ready to accept your fate! Fuhuhuhuhuhu!"

Chara took a deep breath as Frisk was still in a frozen shock. "Well... looks like there's no way getting out of this one." She said. "I've got faith in ya though Frisk. If you got past Paps and Red, you can get past her."

Frisk's arms trembled a bit as she gripped tightly to her stick, taking deep breaths as she stepped forward, feeling a power welling inside her.

"That's it then...!" Undyne said. "No more running away! HERE I COME!"

Undyne would leap down from her precipice, the ground crunching under the weight of the armor as she stood before Frisk, imposing and ready for the fight ahead.

The battle sequence started up.

*Undyne attacks!

Almost immediately before Frisk could react Undyne swiped her spear straight at the human, causing her to flinch... and suddenly realize she couldn't move.

"En guarde!" Undyne roared.

"Wh-what's going on?!" She panicked.

"Shit, Green Soul mode." Chara cursed.

"I-I don't get it, what is this?!" Frisk choked out. "Wh-why can't I move my Soul?"

"It's how Green Soul mode works." Chara said. "As long as it's green, you won't be able to move out of the way. The only best you'll be able to do is just defend yourself from the oncoming attacks she throws at you!"

"W-with what?!" Frisk said. "I can't deflect spears with a stick!"

At that point a green spear would clank at Frisk's feet, causing the human to look down at it and then look up at Undyne.

"Take it." The fish spat, Frisk picking up the green spear and holding it in front of her. "I'll at least give you a fighting chance before I tear you to shreds."

Frisk swallowed, her hands trembling a bit as she gripped the spear tightly. "Unless you learn to face danger head-on, you won't last a SECOND against me!" At that moment Undyne summoned three minispears and threw them head-on at the human. Frisk tensed up as she held the spear in front of her the three minispears plinking off it and disintegrating. Heavy breathing at work, she'd remain tense as she moved her hand to the ACT button to select *Check.

*GUARD ELITE UNDYNE - HP 1500 ATK 50 DEF 20

*Persistent is… an understatement.

"Not bad, but how about THIS?!" Undyne yelled, soon tossing out more minispears in multiple locations. Frisk swallowed hard and gripped to her spear tightly as she pivoted on her feet, attempting to block all of them but a few got through and slammed into her body, hitting her bad.

35/35 - 20/35

"Focus Frisk, focus!" Chara said. Frisk nodded as she checked her ACTs.

ACT - *Plead

"Please, we don't need to fight about this!" Frisk said. "There must be another way to-"

"Shut your TRAP!" Undyne yelled, soon sending another volley of minispears right for Frisk. "For years we've dreamed of a happy ending, and now sunlight is just within our reach!"

Frisk would move to keep deflecting all the minispears as they pelted her only line of defense, but the evident panting coming from the human girl was meaning she was struggling to match pace.

Frisk swallowed. Pleading was clearly not going to work in this situation... what could she do?

Taking a risk, she'd select *Challenge.

"I-Is that the best you've got?!" Frisk yelled.

"Oh, so you want more do ya?" Undyne grinned. "Well then, no more mercy!"

"Frisk I hope to GOD you know what you're doing...!" Chara said as the barrage of minispears started. Frisk would grip tightly, almost zoning out her surroundings as she narrowed her focus and started spinning her defensive spear, slamming it into the minispears as they plinked off it and fell to the ground, disintegrating. Panting hard, Frisk could almost feel her body going into a sort of adrenaline rush state as she deflected all the minispears into the ground.

"What the hell are you humans even made out of?!" Undyne growled, soon growing angry as Frisk's options came back up.

Frisk elected to skip her turn.

"A smartass are we?!" Undyne roared. "We'll see how cocky you are once you're made into swiss cheese!"

Another barrage of minispears would bombard Frisk as she twirled her own spear and deflected them, but soon she heard Chara's voice.

"You've got a yellow one coming from behind!" Chara said.

"What do those ones do?" Frisk asked.

"They'll wrap around and attack from the opposite side of where they're coming from!" Chara said.

Frisk smiled, planting her feet into the ground. "Perfect."

"What are you-"

"It's like you said Chara," Frisk responded, gripping tightly to her spear as she held it in both hands. "I'm up to bat."

Chara's eyes widened as Frisk dug in her heels, gripping tightly as the yellow spear closed in. Undyne seemed to have a realization of shock as Frisk wasn't moving; time seemed to slow down as the yellow spear soon wrapped around Frisk and started coming at her from the front...

Bullseye.

As soon as Frisk saw the yellow spear start darting at her from the front she swung fast and hard, the flat end of her spear colliding with the yellow weapon and sending it flying directly for Undyne! The fish knight gasped as she barely sidestepped out of the way, glancing back to seeing who knows where that thing went, unaware of the small -ping- that resonated of Frisk's Soul color shifting. Undyne grit her teeth, soon looking back to-

Where did the human go.

She's soon hear her answer as the sound of skidding gravel hit her fin ears. Looking down she'd see Frisk sliding right underneath the gap in her legs before getting back up on her feet and booking it down the corridor in the crag towards Hotland.

"GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE PUNK!" The fish knight roared, soon giving chase after the human. Frisk panted as she kept her feet moving like mad across the stone bridge, hearing the rushing water below as she noticed the ice blocks from Snowdin floating past. In fact it just about completely distracted her as she was struck in the back by one of Undyne's spears... not hurting by immobilizing her once again.

Back into Green Soul mode it was.

Frisk held her breath as Undyne caught up.

"You thought you could get away with pulling a stunt like that could ya?!" The fish growled. "Well, let's see how you like even more spears!" Soon enough another flurry od minispears went flying at Frisk, the human tensing up as she continued to block. Her next turn had her diving into her back and eating one of the Crab Apples she got from the shop.

20/35 - 35/35

"Ghhh, I can see now why Alphys said that humans were so determined... but monsters like me are just as determined!" She roared, soon throwing out another volley of minispears and yellow ones mixed in, Frisk parrying them with increasing vigor as her Soul started beating, the Determination inside her starting to pump even harder than she realized.

ACT - *Challenge

"Is that the best you've got?!" Frisk yelled.

"Frisk what the hell are you doing?!" Chara angrily said. "You're going to get yourself killed!"

"NGGGAAAHHH! DIE ALREADY YOU LITTLE SHIT!" Undyne's eye twitched as she soon summoned a massive barrage of minispears, soon raining hell down upon Frisk as the human's pupils started to glow that deep Determination Red, gripping tightly to her spear, she'd twirl it fast and hard, shredding any of the oncoming minispears into dust. Out of a fit of rage Undyne hurled her regular spear straight for Frisk as the human dodged out of the way just in time, the reverberating -ping- telling she just shifted back to Red Soul mode.

ITEM - *Sea Tea

Quickly downing the cyan glowing drink from its mason-jar container, she could almost feel the world slowing down around her as she felt herself loosen. With a Red Soul meaning she was free, she darted past Undyne and made a mad dash down the corridor, the added effects of the Sea Tea now making harder for Undyne to catch up.

"YOU LITTLE RUNT! GET BACK HERE!"

Frisk soon rounded the corner, seeing the giant flashing scrolling sign that blinked "WELCOME TO HOTLAND" in gigantic bold lettering as the human rushed past it. Soon the sound of something cutting through the air could be heard as one of the magic spears whizzed by from above, smashing straight into the sign and sending a shower of sparks flying down onto the path below.

"YOU PIECE OF SHI-"

-riiiiing- -riiiiing-

Both of them stopped dead in their tracks as Frisk's cellphone started ringing, confusing the both of them as Frisk picked up the receiving end.

"Hello?" Frisk asked.

"HELLO THERE HUMAN!" Papyrus's voice rang from the other end.

"Uh, not really a good time..." Frisk said.

"OH NONSENSE!" Papyrus responded. "I THINK WE COULD JUST GET THIS ENTIRE MESS OF UNDYNE KILLING YOU SOLVED OUT IF WE WERE TO JUST MEET HER TOGETHER! WHAT DO YOU SAY?"

"Yeah yeah, I'll meet with ya wherever that is later, gotta bail!" Frisk said before hanging up and taking off, Undyne resuming chase.

The smell of brimstone intensified as Frisk felt the heat wash over her like a tidal wave, soon enough the orange glow of the magma below coming in at full force as Frisk darted by one of Sans' sentry stations... with him asleep at it. Thanking her lucky stars that Undyne decided to stop at the station to try and wake up Sans, Frisk scrambled across the bridge to the other side, but noticed Undyne was starting to slow down...

By the time Frisk had skidded to a halt on the other side and the effects of the Sea Tea and her Determination started to wear down, Undyne was barely trudging to try and make it to the other side.

"Armor... too... hot..." The fish breathed out, before passing out with a loud -THUNK- at the end of the bridge, panting heavily and unconscious.

"Well... not quite the way I would've resolved that issue, but I guess it gets the job done." Chara said, looking to Frisk. "C'mon, let's get going."

Chara started to go, but Frisk stopped her.

"Wait." She said. "It... doesn't feel right leaving her here like this."

"She literally tried to ream us through with magic spears. Multiple times." Chara said. "It's not like she's going to die if we just leave her here like this."

"I'd rather not take the chance." Frisk said, glancing around before seeing the water cooler. "Ah, that'll do!"

"What are you..." Chara said as Frisk came over and got the water cup from the cooler, before then proceeding to walk over to Undyne...

...and dumping it straight onto her face.

Chara deadpanned. "Well that's a blunt way to do it I guess."

Undyne coughed and sputtered a bit before getting back to her feet, shaking her head from the sudden water shock before looking down...

...and seeing Frisk standing right in front of her.

After a long agonizing silence, Undyne lets out a sigh and starts backtracking towards Waterfall, not even giving Frisk a chance to speak up.

"Alright..." Frisk breathed. "Let's go see what Papyrus wants..." She started walking back towards Waterfall but then something hit her.

"Is... there a faster way to get back to Snowdin?" She asked Chara.

"Glad you asked." Chara said, floating off towards the main intersection. "Just follow me."

Frisk would hesitantly follow Chara down the slope towards what looked like a river canal before seeing a boat, a cloaked figure standing on the boat.

"Tra la la... lovely weather we're having..." The figure said to itself, standing on the boat as they stared off into nothing.

"Uh... excuse me?" Frisk asked, the figure's hooded head turning to meet Frisk, the inside of the hood so dark Frisk couldn't see the monster's face.

"Yes?" The figure asked.

"Uhh..." Frisk swallowed a bit. "Is... there by any chance I could get back to Snowdin at all?" She asked.

The figure paused for a moment... and then answered.

"But of course." They spoke. "Please, hop on."

Frisk would hesitantly step onto the boat as it soon departed from the dock...

"'ey kiddo, fancy runnin' into you here." Sans said as Frisk came up to the skelebros house, confusing her greatly.

"Wait... weren't you just..." Frisk said, glancing over at the riverboat and then back to Sans. "How did you..."

"i got shortcuts." Sans said. "But that's 'sides the point. what brings ya back here? can't be more of my hi-larious puns is it?"

"N-no actually." Frisk said. "Papyrus said he wanted to meet with me?"

"ah, ya just missed him." Sans said, motioning back to the ferry Frisk took to get here. "he went off to undyne's place just a bit before ya got here. said it was for somethin' serious."

"Oh..." Frisk said. "Well, thank you, sorry if I interrupted anything."

"naaaah, you're fine kiddo." Sans responded. "Just take care headed over there."

"Thank you again Riverperson!" Frisk said as she departed from the ferry onto the banks of Waterfall near the village.

"It is nothing child, the joy of the journey always brings a smile to my heart." The cloaked figure responded. "Until we meet again!"

Frisk waved goodbye as she walked up the path towards the central area again, glancing around before seeing the left-most path to the north. Taking it, she'd soon find herself in front of a large angry fish-shaped house, with Papyrus standing right at the doors of the mouth. The faint melody of pianos could be heard coming from inside the house, and to the side sat what looked like a sparring set with training dummies.

"OHO! THE HUMAN ARRIVES!" Papyrus said. "WELCOME HUMAN! IT HAS BEEN QUITE SOME TIME SINCE WE'VE MET FACE-TO-FACE!"

"Good to see you too Papyrus." Frisk said. "So... what's this all about?"

"WELL..." Papyrus said. "I FEEL AS THOUGHT HIS ENTIRE SITUATION CAN BE RESOLVED AS EASILY AS TALKING TO UNDYNE HERSELF ABOUT THE SITUATION. THIS ENTIRE SITUATION SEEMS LIKE IT COULD HAVE BEEN AVERTED ALTOGETHER IF WE HAD JUST COME CLEAN THE FIRST TIME AND NOT PUT YOU THROUGH ALL THAT DANGER."

"Oh..." Frisk said, rubbing her arm. "I... wish we would've done that earlier before all this happened." She'd the glance around. "Oh, is Red not joining us for this?"

"SHE GOT A CALL TO HEAD TO INVESTIGATE HOTLAND." Papyrus said. "IT'LL JUST BE YOU AND ME."

"Alright then." Frisk sighed as Papyrus knocked on the door.

"AH! BEFORE I FORGET!" The tall skeleton said, reaching into his armor and pulling out a golden bone wrapped with a red ribbon. "MAKE SURE TO GIVE HER ONE OF THESE. SHE LOVES THESE!"

Frisk merely nodded as the piano playing stopped, the door opening up as Undyne was waiting there. This time she was out of her armor, wearing a black tanktop and bluejeans, and red boots. Wrapped around her left arm would look like some sort of bandaging, and around her right wrist would be a golden band of some sorts.

"Papyrus, glad you could make it!" Undyne said, catching Frisk off guard with how... rather friendly she was to the skeleton. "So, ready for your next one-on-one training session?"

"YOU BET I AM, AND I BROUGHT A FRIEND!" Papyrus said.

"Ooooooh, someone along for the train game?" Undyne asked, grinning. "Well let me see 'em you big lug!"

Papyrus would step aside as Undyne would turn to Frisk. "Hi, I don't think we've-" Undyne would stop mid-sentence as she saw who it was, obviously tensing up for a moment.

"Uhh... h-hi..." Frisk said, waving a bit.

Undyne would be silent for a moment before speaking again. "How about you two come inside? Wouldn't be right of me to just leave you two out here now would it?" She'd then disappear into the doorway as Papyrus would soon follow. Frisk took a deep breath as she went inside, Chara materializing to just observe the situation at hand.

The inside of the main house would be cozy enough, a combined kitchen/dining room table with two seats, and another door near the back leading to another part of the house. Off to the left would be a rather large piano, presumably the one Frisk had heard earlier. Against the right wall was a large bladed sword, the blade itself being much wider than the handle itself and almost impractical to even wield.

"AH, I ALMOST FORGOT! MY FRIEND BROUGHT A GIFT FOR YOU UNDYNE!" Papyrus said, looking over to the human.

"R-right!" Frisk said, pulling out the golden bone and offering it to Undyne.

"Ah, thanks..." Undyne said, taking the bone. "I... already have one of these, but hey, the thought that counts, right?" She'd walk over to the back drawer and put it into a draw that had... multiple other golden bones.

"So... we ready to start?" Undyne asked.

"AH, WHOOPSY DOOPSY! I JUST REMEMBERED! I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM! YOU TWO HAVE FUN!" Papyrus said, before running to the left and divebombing out through the window, bewildering all three of the remaining people in the room.

"Uhhh..." Chara said, even though only Frisk could hear her.

"Does... he normally do that?" Frisk asked.

Undyne sighed. "Not again..." She said, before looking back at Frisk. "Alright shrimp, why are you here? Are you just here to rub it in?"

"What? N-no, I-" Frisk started, before Undyne interrupted.

"Then why are you here?" Undyne said, before an epiphany came across her. "Wait, I get it... you think I'm gonna be friends with you, huh? Is THAT it?"

"W-well, I feel like we got off on the wrong foot, so-" Frisk started.

"WHY would I ever be friends with YOU?" Undyne growled. "If you weren't my houseguest right now, I would throttle you to an inch of your life! You're the reason that the barrier hasn't been destroyed yet! I WILL NEVER BE YOUR FRIEND."

Frisk seemed to sink back a bit at Undyne's entire rant, shaking a bit.

"Now get the hell out of my house!" Undyne growled, before Papyrus came running back up to the window.

"AH, WHAT A SHAME..." Papyrus said. "AND HERE I THOUGHT UNDYNE WOULD BE FRIENDS WITH YOU... BUT I GUESS I OVERESTIMATED HER. SHE'S JUST NOT UP TO THE CHALLENGE..." And before Frisk could even react Papyrus had left the window once again.

"CHALLENGE?! What?!" Undyne yelled. "Papyrus, wait a second...!"

But Papyrus was already gone.

"Damnit... so he thinks I can't be friends with YOU?" She growled, looking over to Frisk. "Fuhuhuhuhu! What a joke! I could make friends with a wimpy loser like you any day! I'll show him!"

"Uhh..." Frisk said before Undyne approached her.

"Listen human, we're not going to just be friends... we're going to be... BESTIES." Undyne growled. "I'll make you like me so much, you won't be able to think of anyone else! Fuhuhuhuhuhu, it's the perfect revenge!"

Frisk was seriously starting to regret her choices of coming here now.

Undyne would step back. "Why don't you take a seat?" Frisk swallowed a bit taking a seat at the table.

"Comfortable? Let me get you a drink." Undyne said, walking to the fridge and taking out several options and setting them on the counter. "So! What would you like?"

Frisk would be looking at the options, trying to get a good look at them. She'd try to get up-

-THWACK-

An energy spear slammed straight into the table, causing Frisk to jump and fall backwards out of her seat.

"HEY! DON'T GET UP!" Undyne yelled. "YOU'RE THE GUEST! SIT DOWN AND ENJOY YOURSELF!"

Frisk meekly sat in her chair as she tried to look at her options. "Uhhhh..." She swallowed. "C-could I have some of the tea?" Frisk asked.

"...tea, huh?" Undyne said, soon moving under the counter and pulling out a teapot. "Coming right up!" After filling up the teapot she'd place it onto the stovetop, the water slowly beginning to boil as Frisk patiently waited, Chara leaning against the back wall just observing what she thought would be a trainwreck going down.

Once the water was nice and hot, Undyne would pour a cup and set one of the teabags into the cup, before setting the cup down on the table in front of Frisk. "Here we are. Careful, it's hot."

She'd then walk around and sit at the other side of the table, looking at Frisk as the human picked up the tea cup, blowing on it a bit to cool it ever so slightly bit more before she indulged into a sip-

"It's not THAT hot." Undyne said. "Just drink it already!"

Frisk winced a bit, soon taking a sip of the tea. An indescribable taste filled her mouth as she drank it, something about is light, slightly lemony taste felt... familiar...

...like the flowers from the mountain.

"It's pretty good right?" Undyne said. "Nothing but the best for my ABSOLUTELY PRECIOUS FRIEND!"

Frisk sweatdropped as she took another sip. "It's... really good... I've not had this too often from where I'm from..."

"Heh... y'know, it's kinda strange you chose THAT kind of tea..." Undyne said, leaning on the table. "Golden Flower Tea... that's Asgore's favorite kind."

"Oh... really?" Frisk asked, taking another sip.

"Yeah... actually now that I think about it, you remind me a bit of him." The fish responded. "Probably from the fact you're both TOTAL weenies."

Frisk sweatdropped, sighing.

"...sort of."

"Huh?" Frisk asked.

"Y'know, I was a pretty hotheaded kid." Undyne said. "Once, to prove I was the strongest, I tried to fight Asgore. Emphasis on TRIED."

Frisk fell silent.

"I couldn't land a single blow on him! And even worse, he refused to fight back the entire fight!" Undyne continued. "I was so humiliated... and then afterwards, he apologized and said something goofy... it was like 'excuse me, do you want to know how to beat me?'"

The fish would lean back at that point. "I said yes, and from then on, he trained me. One day during practice, I finally knocked him down..." She shifted a bit. "I felt... bad. But he was beaming. I'd never seen someone so proud to get their butt kicked!"

Frisk giggled a bit, taking another sip of her tea as the story continued.

"Anyways, long story short, he kept training me..." Undyne said. "And now I'm the head of the Royal Guard! So now I'M the one that gets to train dorks to fight! ...like, uh, Paps and Red..."

Undyne fell silent. "Though... I worry about those two with their status in the guard..."

"...i-if you don't mind me asking, why?" Frisk asked. "Both have shown themselves to be very competent fighters when they went against me..."

"Wait... they both fought you?" Undyne asked.

Frisk nodded. "Papyrus wanted me to fight him to gain access to leave Snowdin before that... thing showed up..." She shuddered on remembering that amalagamated skeletal mess. "A-and Red honestly came close to outright killing me when she fought me... though her memories of a past friend made her back off from doing it..."

"...then you understand why I'm partly so hesitant with Papyrus." Undyne said. "It's not his strength that's the issue, it's more a concern of his personality... he's... just too innocent and nice. I mean look, he was supposed to capture you, and yet he ended up befriending you instead!"

Frisk merely nodded, sipping her tea again. "You're just worried he might not be ready for full actual combat... correct?" Frisk asked.

Undyne merely nodded. "I just... worry, y'know? That's why I started offering his one-on-one training and cooking sessions... just so that... maybe I could protect him."

Frisk merely nodded back. "I... understand."

Silence fell for a bit as Frisk finished off her tea.

"Ah, you're out of tea, aren't you?" Undyne said, getting up. "Let me get you some more."

She'd start walking to the counter when she realized something.

"Wait a second... Papyrus, his cooking lesson!" She said. "HE WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE THAT RIGHT NOW!"

Frisk froze up.

"And if HE'S not here to have it..." Undyne growled, pointing at Frisk. "YOU'LL HAVE TO HAVE IT FOR HIM!"

Chara smiled as she watched Frisk seemingly internally panic.

"This is about to get good..." Chara said as Undyne leapt onto and swept across the counter, knocking everything off it.

"That's right! NOTHING has brought Papyrus and I closer than cooking!" Undyne yelled, her fists clenching as a glint appeared in her eye. "Which means that if I give you his lesson... WE'LL BECOME CLOSER THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE!"

Frisk sweatdropped hard as the fish leapt from the counter to next to her and grabbed her by the back of her sweater. "Fuhuhuhuhu! Afraid?! We're gonna be best friends!" With that she'd leap again back to the counter, setting the now disoriented Frisk onto her feet, Chara merely floating behind the two as she'd watch the show unfold.

"Let's start with the sauce!" Undyne said as she stamped her foot to the ground, several tomatoes falling from an unknown point above onto the counter and cutting board. "Envision these fruits as your greatest enemy! Now! Pound them to dust with your fists!"

Frisk swallowed hard as she clenched her fists, letting out a yell as she brought her fist down... and smashed exactly one tomato.

"NOW YOU'RE GETTING IT!" Undyne roared. "Our hearts are uniting against these healthy ingredients! NOW IT'S MY TURN! NGAAAAAH!" Undyne would slam her fists down at full force as tomato juices from the smashed vegetables would fly everywhere, nearly covering the fronts of the two in the red paste. Chara was currently trying her best to hold her laughter back.

"Uhh, we'll just scrape this into a bowl later. BUT FOR NOW!" She'd stomp her foot again, a pot of water and a box of noodles falling from again an unknown point above as the two rushed over to the stove. Chara would definitely start to notice the small tint of DT red glowing in Frisk's irises.

"We add the noodles!" Undyne said. "Homemade noodles are the best! BUT I JUST BUY STORE-BRAND! THEY'RE THE CHEAPEST!"

Frisk was bouncing on her feet; seems like she was really starting to get into this.

"Add them to the pot!" Undyne yelled.

Frisk, in her excitement, grabs the box of pasta and slam-dunks it into the pot.

"YOU'RE INTO IT! I CAN FEEL IT!" Undyne yelled. "Now it's time to stir the pasta! As a general rule of thumb, the more you stir, THE BETTER IT IS!"

Frisk could feel her excitement rising and rising as she grabbed the spoon inside the pot.

"and GO!" Undyne yelled, causing Frisk to start stirring the noodles in the pot.

"Harder!"

Stronger spins.

"HARDER!"

Frisk was actually starting to sweat from her arm doing so much work.

"Ugh, LET ME DO IT!" Undyne said as she pulled Frisk away, soon slamming one of her spears into the pot hard and fast, denting the pot inwards from the sheer force.

"Now for the final step; TURN UP THE HEAT!" Undyne declared, Frisk rushing to the oven dial. "Let the stovetop symbolize your passion! Let your hopes and dreams materialize like a wild flame of justice! DON'T HOLD ANYTHING BACK!"

Frisk gripped the dial hard and started turning it, the stove whirring to life as the heat started to come from below the pot. It was at this point Chara started to notice the tips of Frisk's hair turning that same shade of DT red as her irises were now that burning DT red, cranking up the heat harder and harder.

"Hotter!" Undyne yelled, each yell pushing Frisk's DT levels higher and higher.

"HOTTER, DAMNIT!"

The flames started to grow bigger.

"HOTTER!" Undyne yelled, before seeing there was essentially a column of flame on her stovetop.

"Wait, that's too hot-"

What happened after that was an extreme detonation nearly blinding the two in a blast; when their visions came to the both of them were covered in soot, the entire house up in flames.

Undyne coughed a bit. "In retrospect, maybe we went a bit too extreme..."

Frisk blinked a moment before shaking her head, snapping her out of whatever DT high she was in at the moment, before looking over at Undyne. "Uhhh..."

"So what's next?" Undyne said. "Scrapbooking? Friendship bracelets?"

Frisk sweatdropped again.

"...oh who am I kidding." Undyne answered her own question, sighing. "I really screwed the pooch on this one, didn't I?"

Frisk was about to speak before Undyne continued.

"I can't force you to like me, human." She said. "Some people just don't get along with eachother. I understand if you feel that way about me."

"I-"

"And if we can't be friends, that's okay, because..." Undyne said, summoning a spear into her hands. "If we're not friends... THAT MEANS I CAN DESTROY YOU WITHOUT REGRET!"

"WAIT WHA-"

The battle sequence started without any warning.

"I've been defeated, my house is in shambles... I even failed to befriend you." Undyne spoke. "That's it. I don't care if you're my guest anymore. One final rematch! All out on both sides! IT'S THE ONLY WAY I CAN REGAIN MY LOST PRIDE!"

Frisk swallowed, gripping tightly to her stick as she stared Undyne down.

"NOW COME ON! HIT ME WITH EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT! NGGGAAAAAHHH!"

Frisk gripped tight to her weapon and swung hard at Undyne. Time seemed to slow down as Frisk's attack connected with Undyne...

"...what." Undyne said, complete for a loss of words. "That's the best you can manage?"

"..." Frisk fell silent, stepping back and putting the stick in her bag.

"Even attacking me at full force... you just can't muster any intent to hurt me, can you?" Undyne said, standing up. "...heh, you know what?"

She dropped the spear.

"I don't actually want to hurt you either." Undyne said. "At first, I hated your stupid saccarine schtick, but... the way you hit me right now, it... reminded me of someone I used to train with..."

Frisk stood silent.

"Now I know you're not some wimpy loser..." Undyne said, grinning. "You're a wimpy loser with a big heart! Just like him..."

Silence for a moment as the house was still burning around them.

"Listen, human." Undyne finally broke the silence. "It seems that you and Asgore are fated to fight. But knowing him... He probably doesn't want to. Talk to him; I'm sure you can persuade him to let you go home."

Frisk nodded.

"Eventually, some mean human will fall down here and I'll take THEIR Soul instead." Undyne continued. "That makes sense, right? Fuhuhuhuhu."

Frisk nervously nodded and laughed a bit.

"Oh, and if you DO hurt Asgore..." Undyne said, now with a bit of a threatening aura. "I'll take the human Souls, cross the barrier, and beat the HELL OUT OF YOU!"

Frisk shrunk back a bit.

"That's what friends are for, right?!" Undyne said, almost having her mood shift instantly, causing Frisk to sigh in relief. "Now let's get the hell out of this flaming house!"

From the outside the exterior of the house would appear as a charred black as the eye windows are nothing more than flames, the entire house looking like a sight for sore eyes as the two stood there.

"Well, that was fun, huh?" Undyne said.

"Yeah!" Frisk said, smiling. "I was scared at first, but honestly? I think that was some of the best adrenaline rush I've ever had!"

"Well hey, glad I could satisfy that for ya ya little runt!" Undyne said, grabbing Frisk and locking her into a noogie as the human giggled and squirmed to try and break free.

"We'll have to hang out another time...!" Undyne started, before looking at her burning house. "But uh... somewhere else I guess."

"Yeah..." Frisk said. "Sorry about that..."

"Hey, as long as you had fun, that's what matters, right?" Undyne said. "I guess in the meantime I'll go chill with Paps over at his place, so swing by Snowdin if ya need anything from me."

Frisk nodded, waving as Undyne took off. Chara would then rematerialize next to Frisk.

"...y'know? At first I was hesitant, but I REALLY dig this girl's approach to life." Chara said, looking to Frisk. "Alright, so... we ready to head back to Hotland?"

Frisk nodded, starting to walk to the ferry. "Yeah... where do we need to go in there again?"

"We'll need to head up to the third layer and then shortcut through the CORE to get to New Home." Chara said as she floated alongside the human. "Should be easy enough."

Frisk nodded.

"...should be."
