The classroom was buzzing with excitement the next morning, the students were chatting amongst each other. It was a Wednesday morning, a morning where Aizawa the previous day had told them that they would be going on a field trip to a hero's museum. Deku was the most excited one out of them all, spouting about visiting the All Might section with the Dekusquad as they liked to dub themselves.
Daria was with the Bakuquad in the back away from most of the others, she was between Denki and Mina, with Bakugou and Kirishima on the other side. "Hey Ria who are you planning on checking out?" Mina asked, practically bouncing in her seat.
"I don't really know. I may check out the hero's from other countries, like my own for example. After all everyone is always spouting about the hero's in Japan and sometimes the USA. But they never talk about the ones from other countries." Daria points out, leaning forward a bit. "I'm sure there are a lot of amazing heroes in the other countries!"
Kirishima thinks of something right then, "Aren't there less quirk users in the other countries though? Most flock to Japan or the USA. Aren't there more of those ability user folk in those other countries?"
Daria stops gazing at him, secretly wanting to know what he had to say. "What about it? They are people too. They have powers, and they kick butt."
"I don't know. My parents always told me to stay away from one. They always had this fire to their eyes whenever I would ask why, but they would never answer me." Kiri shrugged his shoulders, leaning forward along with the rest of the group. "They would always mention a place called Yokohama, and to never go to that place."
"Oh I think I heard of that place! My parents hate ability users, said that it wasn't fair that they didn't have to follow our societies laws, and that they all fled to Yokohama and joined crime organizations like the port mafia. I don't get what all the buzz is about if I'm being honest about it." Mina chipped in, her face telling of her confusion. The pink haired girl turns to Daria, "What about you? Have you heard anything else?"
Daria almost blurts out some of the words she held in her chest, but kept herself back and composed on the outside. "Well I don't really know either. I lost my parents when I was 7 years old, so I don't really remember what they had to say about the subject. All I have is my sisters, and my aunt over here. My sisters really don't like opening up about the subject, but at the same time they don't have a hero license either, so they still can't legally use their quirks in public. We all went to normal school, and none of us have ever been out of the country, until recently for me." She clears her throat, "I haven't asked my aunt about the subject either, I was only with her for one night before I was moved into the dorms."
"You mean to tell me until recently you have never attended a hero school before? Where did you learn to harness your quirk?" Denki asked in surprise. "At what age did you develop it?"
Daria almost sweat drops, "Um I developed my quirk at the age of 3 years old. And yeah I have never attended a hero school before. As for how I harnessed my quirk, my sisters and my parents would help me in secret at our house."
"What are you problem children talking about over there?" They then hear Aizawa ask from the front of the class, they didn't even notice him enter the classroom. The group also noticed that everyone else had gone quit listening to their conversation. The group suddenly felt as if they were naked and thrown out into the elements, exposed to them.
It was Mina that stood up, "Oh Mr. Aizawa we were just talking about ability users, and quirk users."
Daria notices a gaze flash across the teachers face, one she's seen on several occasions in the past. "Why are you talking about them?"
"Them? Aren't they like quirk users?" Mina asked sitting back down still confused. "My parents wouldn't talk much about them, but when they did it wasn't very nice."
"No they are nothing alike." Aizawa speaks up seriousness in his tone. "Listen up problem children, and listen well because I hate repeating myself." He clears his throat, "Ability users are more powerful than us quirk users, by a long shot."
Deku raises his hand, "How is that possible?"
"For one, they don't have nearly as many drawbacks, if any, like we do. Secondly, they train their kids young, in fact not too long after the kid gets their abilities, and by the time they hit 15, they are more ready for the world than most of you were in your first year. Thirdly, they can freely use those abilities anywhere in the world, and not be restrained by any of the quirk usage laws in public like we have to follow. Fourthly, the powers they gain, they aren't like the mutations we have. Their mutation powers are hidden until they activate the power, and the range of powers they have are like a double edged sword, it's sharp on both sides, and can be swung at any angle. Quirk users are like a one sided blade, and have limitations. It's easy to tell what your quirk is by the mutations you have, especially the ones that are visible. And fifth of all, they've been around longer than us quirk users have, they weren't part of the disease that spread and infected everyone so long ago. No one knows where they get their powers." Aizawa explained in great detail, holding a finger up for each explanation.
Kirishima speaks up next, "Well what about the type of powers the kids have? Like two quirk users get together, have kids, and the kids get one or the other, or a mix of both their quirks. Is that the same for ability user kids?"
"No, two ability users with different abilities can get together, and have kids. No one knows what those kids' abilities are going to be until it surfaces usually around the age of 3 years old. Each kid's ability is completely different from the parents and even their own siblings powers." The teacher explains to the silent room of shocked kids.
"Are there a lot of dangerous ability users out there? And why do they all flock to Yokohama?" Urakaka asked, horror filling her chest. "Have you heard of one before?"
"There are millions of dangerous ability users out there. They all use titles and nicknames, none of them ever release their real names, and the only way to track the registered ones are to check in with the Special Ability Department that's stationed in Yokohama, is to get information from them. But they protect their own kind, and refuse to give out that information to anyone that isn't an ability user or associate of them." The teacher looks out over the sea of students, "I know of one that we've been trying to watch out for. She goes by the nickname of Riser, and her ability allows her to bring a corpse back from the dead. We don't know any more information than that, but we've been trying to do some digging, though so far we have always hit the bottom of the barrel. They are more secretive with what information they give out both in public and over the internet, so basically they are dubbed in the same class as the villains we fight." He sits back against his desk, "As for why they flock to Yokohama. That's a safe haven to them, they know we can not touch them once they get to that city. Though there are millions that live outside of Japan, in the other countries. So watch out, if you ever run into one, the protocol is to contact the nearest hero agency, and flee. Do not engage, that will only spell death for you if you try to fight one, depending on the ability they have in their possession."
"Can you tell between an ability user and a quirk user?" Another student asked, the conversation getting deeper.
"Ninety-nine percent of the time no. But for example you take Shoji and compare him against someone else without a visible mutation. You can only tell that he's a quirk user, but you can't tell who's an ability user unless they unleash the power they hold. Ability users are more brave, and destructive in a battle. As well as more strategic, they will plan out an attack, how to fight, and everything, but they hardly ever show their true potential." Aizawa tells them, a hand in his pocket.
"Do they hate us?" Deku asked the one question that was on everyone's mind.
"Most do, but the feeling is mutual for most of the quirk populace too. The two tend to stay away from each other, and UA doesn't allow any ability user to enter for protection and fear over our own safety and students." He looks over the sea of faces. "Do you all understand now?"
Everyone nods, murmuring about the information they've just been told, most seemingly agreeing with the pro teacher. Daria sat in her chair, almost scowling. So many times throughout that talk, she felt like lashing out at the teacher for not telling the whole truth. Sure she was an ability user, but that didn't make her bad. Hell nobody has picked up on her ever being one this whole damn time! One of things she wanted was to bring the two power houses together, and quit the feuding they've been going for all these years. Maybe by proving she wasn't bad, after a while she could tell them what she really was, and change society's views on opening the school up to her kind. Maybe she could be the one to change all that up, and open people's eyes. She was serious about making an impact during her time here at the school.
'Though I can't tell them about myself being an ability user just yet. I have to give it time, do what my sisters, and my parents nailed into my brain for years. I have to redeem my kinds name.' Daria thought, while she fiddled with a strap on her jacket. She had to have time to think, if just for a few minutes. She raises her hand, as the teacher gazes at her.
"Yeah what is it?" He asked her bordly.
"Can I go to the restroom before we board the bus?" Daria asked him lowly.
"Yeah, but don't take too long. We'll be leaving in about 10 minutes." He looks over the others, "If anyone else has to go, go ahead because we won't be stopping until we get to the museum. It will take close to half an hour to get to the museum."
She got up, as well as some of the other students, while she went to the bathroom. Walking into the bathroom, she entered a stall, only to lean against the wall, her thoughts racing a thousand miles a minute.
Meanwhile Aizawa was in the classroom sitting at his desk, most of the class gone, when his phone started to ring. Clicking the call button, he presses it to his ear. "Hello who is this?"
Nezu answered on the other end, "Sorry for the late notice, but can you come to my office? I've got something to discuss with you, the field trip will commence once we're done talking. I would have had someone come down for you, but everyone else was busy at the moment."
"Ok, I'll be down in a few minutes. Bye." He hung up, getting up from his chair. He turned to what students were left in the class. "Hey I'm going to principal Nezu's office for a few, tell the others when they come back." He turned on his heel, and walked down the hallway. His thoughts were also running, as his mind went back to the conversation from earlier.
That girl, Daria, whenever he would look over her. He felt her glaring holes into him, her face meant business. She was the only one that hadn't said one thing about the whole conversation, but then something struck him from even before that conversation. His eyes widening at the thought, 'She said that she got her quirk at 3, and started training privately at home. She can't be one, can she?' Her profile he looked over looked legit, and she hasn't done anything to permit being suspected of. His thoughts keep racing until he reaches the principal's office in that short amount of time. He knocks on the door, announcing that it was him, and the principal tells him he was permitted to enter.
When inside he walks up to Nezu's desk, taking a seat. "So what is it you wanted a private chat for? It must not be a good one."
The expression on Nezu's face told him everything. "So attentive as always Aizawa. Your right I have good news and bad news to discuss with you. Which one would you like first?"
"Hit me with the bad news first. Get that aired out of the room." The sleepy eyed teacher tells the other, leaning forward, propping his elbows on his knees.
"Apparently there is a villain called 'The Bringer of Death' that's from Romania that has been causing trouble here in Japan, he's been reported to have teamed up with the league. I know they went off the radar for 6 months now, but they're starting to resurface. We don't know if they are recruiting or not yet. Though this man had been causing trouble in Yokohama too. It has greatly upset the ability users over there, and they have told that they are going to track down and kill this man." Nezu tells him in a serious tone.
"Where was the last sighting of this man? Is this man an ability user or a quirk user?"
"He's a quirk user. The ability users have confirmed he is one of us, and they intend to kill him when found. Meaning they are going to send their own people out in search of this man. The last sighting of him was not too far from Musutafu. We need to keep this quiet, you know how much of an uproar this will cause with the rest of the quirk users, despite this man being an enemy to even them. We can't risk this leak, it will damage our society even more than it has in the past." The mouse tells him, his hands crossed, looking the other straight in the eye. After a minute he speaks again, "You have something on your mind. What is it?"
"Yeah, it's that girl that transferred into my class." He sighs, "I told my class the basics of the history between us and the ability users, and the differences between them. The entire time I was explaining it, she didn't say a thing. I learned, by accident of course, that her parents died when she was just 7 years old. Her sisters, and her aunt are left. She got her quirk at 3 years of age, and started training it in secrecy not long after in the privacy between the sisters and parents only. Not once has she spoken about her sister's quirks, or not that I've heard." He looks at Nezu, "Just tell me one thing. Was her information legit?"
For a few solid seconds Nezu doesn't answer, before clearing his throat. "The oldest sister sent the information, and it looked solid. There are a few things that don't look right, but we can't really judge."
"Then tell me. How did someone like her, that has never gone to a hero school or studied hero society get into this school this late in the year? That seems very fishy to me."
Finally Nezu sighs, "It's because I owed the oldest sister a favor. She said something was going down in her country, and she needed her safe. She told me all the information was legit, and that when things calmed down over in her country, that she would welcome her sister home when the other wanted to come home. She might even consider getting the girl's twin sister into the school."
"How many favors do you owe this girl? How do you owe her these favors?" Aizawa asked in slight amazement, not thinking in a million years that the principal would owe anyone any favors.
"It's a very long story, but in short she's saved my life on multiple occasions, while I was conducting business with another hero school over in Romania so many years ago. I owe her at least, minusing this one she just cashed in, I would say 5." He crossed his hands, "I wouldn't harp on it too much. Just watch the girl if you're worried about it. I'll inform all the other classroom teachers to go over ability users and quirk users to their students, so everyone is informed." He then tried showing a smirk, "Now would you like the good news?"
"Why not? Although nothing will ever make what you told me, make me feel any better. Though what are we going to do about the students? You think the league is gathering back up to strike back?" Aizawa asked in the 'I'm tired of this bullshit' tone.
"I do. I'm going to gather all the teachers up tomorrow to discuss this with everyone. Discuss the best plan of action to keep the students safe, as well as how to deal with the possibility of ability users coming here to this city. And that's where part of the good news comes in." Nezu pulls out a piece of paper, handing it to Aizawa. "The number 4 hero Camiduer in France has requested to come to UA to personally teach the infamous class 1-A. I'm accepting her help, this would be a fantastic opportunity to teach the students techniques and history of hero society from a different country. We need all the help we can get right now, she'll be arriving late tonight, and will be having a dorm on the teachers floor with you, not in the same room of course. She'll be attending the meeting with all the teachers tomorrow."
"Ok, will she be in the same room as me?"
"Yes she will, I'll have her own desk setup close to your own early tomorrow morning. She'll be going over with the class about hero society in France, the hero's there, and so on. She's called the Dream Hero, mostly due to her quirk." Nezu tells him.
Aizawa gazes through her information, his eyes skimming over what was on the paper in his hand. "She's only 22 years old. And the number 4 hero already? She must have worked hard to get to that rank."
"Indeed she did, she's a passionate woman, but also a sturdy, headstrong one. She went to the most prestigious hero school in France, graduated early at the age of 17, and immediately started her hero career. She interned under the infamous, previous number 2 French hero 'Rasior Blazor' or the 'Race Hero:Blazor Razor', and she took over his hero agency when he died in a raid 3 years ago, when she was at the age of 20 years old. She's pumped out several successful interns and hero's over in her country. Some have even come over here in Japan, and the USA to launch off their careers." The mouse tells him, a wide smirk on his face. "I'm proud to represent her in this proud school! I hope the students have a fulfilling opportunity, and learn from her to the fullest."
"She does look promising, but I do know one problem child that's going to be bothering her the most." He puts the file back on the desktop, "Is that all you wanted to talk to me about?"
"Actually no, there is one more thing." Nezu pulls out a flash drive that is light blue in color with a UA sticker on it. "That girl calling herself the 'Riser', we think we got more leads on her. This has all the information about her we managed to snag, but the thing is, it's protected by firewalls. We can't get through, if you can find anyone that can work on this for us, that would be greatly appreciated." He slid the flashdrive to where Aizawa was sitting wide eyed.
The teacher picks it up, his eyes nearly blown out in shock. "So this has her real name and identity on it? Where and who did you get this from?"
"A man, more preferably a villain that had mentioned it when he was captured by luck in a robbery case. He was robbing a body from a morgue to take to the girl, and he had a flashdrive with her name on it when he was searched, and questioned. He said he met her only once, but he wouldn't tell how her ability worked. Said that she hardly comes out of her hole, and is wary of too many people." The principal continues to say, reading through some information on a sheet. "This will be a great break for us if we can get into the flashdrive. You're an underground hero, so I know you'll find someone that's willing to take the job."
"Is she in Japan?" Aizawa asked the mouse genuinely curious now.
"That we don't know yet. Hopefully the flash drive has what we need." Nezu checks his watch, "Well that's all, you should be getting back to your class. We've been talking for about 5 minutes, and your class has a field trip today so be careful out there."
Aizawa pockets the flashdrive, standing up from the chair, "Yeah everyone seems to be looking forward to it." He then sees something out of the corner of his eye, and turns to see a shadow move away from the door. He bows to Nezu, not sure what he saw was real or not, or just a student or another teacher passing by the door. He walks to the door, opening it, and stepping out into the long hallway.
He looked up and down the hallway, it was bare of any life. The hallways stretched for miles it seemed but there was no one on either side. He chalked up the shadow to being part of his own imagination, not wanting to waste anymore mental strain on himself than he needed too.
When he's almost to his classroom, the girls bathroom door opens to reveal Daria wiping some water out of her own hair. She was twirling her own hair back into her original buns on the side of her head. She stops when she sees her teacher standing there in the hallway.
"Oh hey teach, where did you go off too?" Daria asked him.
"Didn't one of the students tell you?" He asked her, confused by her question.
Daria tilts her head, "Uh no. I was in the bathroom fixing my hair before we left. Why where did you go?"
"Nowhere important, one of the other teachers needed my assistance. I'm done now, we're going to be boarding the bus any second now. Go back to the classroom and collect your stuff." He tells her, pointing in the direction of his classroom.
"Yeah I'm so excited to go!" A thought then comes to her head, "Uh hey. Have you managed to get me into a class for my license yet?"
"Yeah, but it doesn't start for another 2 weeks. I'll print all the information you need, and give it to you tomorrow. Now you should be going, I'm heading back to the classroom." Aizawa boredly tells her in his normal tone. He walks past her, and into the classroom, though he did notice that the girl had her pack on her shoulders already, and out of the corner of his eye he saw her giving him that stare again.
She soon followed, as he directed the class to a bus for the school field trip, and they were on their way to the museum.
