Chapter – four –Life as a Student of a Hero Academia (2)

Well… hello there this is this week's chapter. I wrote it thinking about reducing the confusion caused by the change in POVs but I don't know if it worked or not so you tell me, if it's still a problem I will simply rewrite the next chapters and stop being lazy about it. Regardless I will rewrite the next one after this and then you can compare both of them when it is out and tell me which one you all think is better, or none of them in case they end up both bad. Maybe… who knows?

I don't know if someone held back on reading the last chapter before this, but this chapter is more enjoyable if you read it right after the last one since they are supposed two parts of the same chapter.

POV: Sakura

It really wasn't hard at all. A poke here and there and the building would crack like an egg. I am sure if I just threw caution to the wind and punched it, it would probably collapse like a house of cards so I would just slap it on the side, breaking it from outside to inside for safety reasons and wipe my arm through the floor and leaving the rubble on the side of the building after confirming if there was nobody on this floor.

It took barely another minute for me to be done with the top floor, now there are only 4 of them left.

The second one was easier than the first not even taking a minute and I was already thinking they might not have any idea of what to do to try and stop me from finding them it's just a matter of time. The capture tape obviously wouldn't work not it would be important because I was be intercepted before I managed to touch the third floor.

As soon as I took out the rubble I was hit with big wave of ice. It felt cold but it didn't feel like it could hinder me. I was literally frozen from the waist down and as soon as I turned my head I was hit by second one. Thankfully I managed to cover my face with my left arm but now it is also frozen up until the shoulder.

"You are quite fast for someone your size aren't you" that is most certainly Todoroki-san staring at me with very cold eyes, if only my brain could stop itself before the pun.

He certainly doesn't seem to be taking me lightly. "You are quite impressive yourself but only this much wouldn't be able to stop me. *crack*,*crack*,*SHATTER!* he looks surprised to see me free myself from the waist down and them *crush!* that was the ice on my arm breaking into very big pieces*boom, boom, boom* and them falling to the ground. "Now that you showed yourself in front of me you better be prepared because I am definitely going to catch you"

POV: Todoroki Shoto: planning stage of the combat training.

"hey!, Todoroki, my name is Sero Hanta and my quirk is called Tape, it allows me to shoot tape like strips from my elbows, they are very sticky and can be used to trap the building what about you?"

"My quirk allows me to create great amounts of ice with my left hand. Fight a defensive battle against Uehara will be very hard so I suggest you leave that part for me." I looked at him so see he was properly paying attention as expected "as for you. Trap the first 2 floors of the building, we should hide the weapon on the hallways of the second floor to stop her from finding its position and to hinder her ability to confront us."

"Wouldn't it be better if the weapon was hidden on the first floor then?" a valid question.

"you are right but don't forget there's still a chance they will decide directly infiltrate the building instead of attacking from the outside, in this case the weapon would be safer on the second floor while we engage in the first."

"I see, in this case I will fill the corridors of the first floor with tape, do you think you can do anything to help with that?"

"I will be putting the weapon inside an ice coffin, that way they would have a hard time trying to touch the weapon without breaking it considering they would have to get through the ice first. When you are done come back to the second floor and I will make walls of ice right before the stairs and close every entrance that doesn't give our position away"

- After the start of the exercise -

That had been a very solid plan to hide inside building, a head on confrontation inside the building would be the best for us but as soon as All Might-Sensei gave the sign she started getting bigger and it was obvious that she would try to find us through the windows but that wouldn't work.

It was sounded somewhat like a loud whisper considering I could hardly hear it, if I wasn't paying attention but everything she says is so loud it can be heard even from inside the building. So I knew that if the red haired one tried to come here and fight us, two on one, it would certainly be our win but it wasn't to be because I heard the word 'Demolition', and I knew, even if she couldn't destroy the building because of the rules it should be allowed for her to cause a lot of damage that could give her access to the hallway where the weapon is contained.

"I will be going to hinder her from destroying the building, stay here and guard the weapon" I went away without looking back, and as soon as I climbed up to the third floor I found a window through which I could see her moving about. Judging by the sound… gradually dismantling the building. She would have a lot of objects to use as projectiles if go up right now, but as it is apparent she is throwing off most of the rubble out of the building I should wait by the stairs and as soon as I see that she removed most of the rubble on the third floor I should have a clean shot at immobilizing her.

That plan also worked but it wasn't enough. *crack*, *crack*, *SHATTER!* Even though she had a lot of ice binding her from the waist down it barely hindered her for more than a few seconds the same for my second attack, I planned to freeze her up to her neck but her body is so big her arm managed to displace most of the ice and it didn't take long for it to break as well. It seemed as if she just had to flex her arm and all of the ice encasing it would shatter.

I thought it would have turned into a battle of resistance where I freeze her and breaks the ice, not like she could possibly dodge with her body being that size but I was also wrong.

Her movements are completely predictable and devoid of technique, they can literally be seen from more than a mile away but she is too fast. *zoom* her right hand shot toward me and the only reason they didn't catch right them and there was that the wind pressure created by her movements caused me to slip away from her attempt at grasping me.

I didn't waste time to hit her with another wave of ice and hide myself in the stairs again. As frustrating as it feels to admit. Unless she has some apparent weakness that I could exploit here, I don't think I could beat her on a head on battle or on an extended battle without using my left side.

Things could be different if I hadn't given her time to grow as completely encasing her body in ice could probably do a much better job of immobilizing her, but right now she is indeed too strong to fight and too big to encase in ice. "Did you decide to hide? unfortunately for you I can still break the corners of the building." If I want to stop her it will be now or never.

I showed myself and she didn't take long to see me but that is part of my plan. Even as big as she is I can still watch her movements. I started to run around and throw smaller projectiles at her for what I know is not going to do any damage but it should at least serve as a distraction.

I see her turning her left hand in my direction and… now! I created ice bellow my feet to eject me high enough her hand just grabbed the ice instead of me. Now I just have to do this for as long as I can. She may be too fast to run away from and too strong to fight directly but distracting her until the time is over is feasible.

POV: Sero Hanta

Todoroki and Uehara are certainly going crazy up there I can barely hear anything with all of these explosions happening… isn't the ceiling cracking. Well better be careful about that.

It was because of all that noise that I didn't notice kirishima had gotten inside this hallway until he was in front of me. He can't rush me because of the tapes around but I lost any chance of a surprise attack my job should just wait for opportunities of capturing him and otherwise keep him away from me.

Encasing the weapon on ice was absolutely one of the best defensive decisions Todoroki could take. Because now I am not pined between Kirishima and the bomb and if he tried to break the ice and get to bomb first without capturing me that would leave him wide open and may get him captured by me instead.

I also have the compatibility advantage. With his hardening quirk I am sure Kirishima would prefer to face any offensive against him head on but since being hit by me would mean getting closer to being captured by my tape's properties he has to avoid it at all costs.

"You're surprisingly nimble for someone with a hardening quirk!" not that he can do anything but run around.

"Aren't you the same, moving like that, you really plan to keep this up right until the end!" after Kirishima's answer he rushed at me but as expected he's somewhat sluggish, this way he couldn't possibly catch me. Well he is aware enough of my movements to dodge my tape that he can do even that after getting through Todoroki's ice says a lot about his endurance.

We stayed into a stalemate until All Might-Sensei gave the sign for the end of the battle trial. "TIME OUT! VILLAINS TEAM'S VICTORY"

POV: The rest of the class: During the start of the Battle Trial

"It looks like nothing is happing"

"That's just how it looks young Kaminari. Since there are no cameras outside the building we don't know what the Hero team is doing but considering young Uehara's quirk we will probably see her in a moment" and the timing was perfect, just after he said that we started getting visual from some of the cameras turned to the windows of the building. It would certainly sound outlandish and look intimidating from a personal standpoint. You look around and when you get to window *Bam!* there's no way you wouldn't be surprised at the giant Eyeball looking at you. But that was not what happened here.

"It was a very smart move by the villain team to hide the weapon on the hallways" said the obviously acknowledged by everyone in the class as someone smart, Yaoyorozu Momo.

"Kirishima is entering the building by himself don't you think it might be hard if he's caught in a one on two situation?"

"You are right on that note but it"-"WHAT!" most of the students interrupted. "She is breaking the building! All Might-Sensei is that allowed, wasn't Bakugou reprimanded for doing just that in the last trial?"

"That isn't quite correct young Ashido. I can hear what they are saying and she isn't trying to hurt anyone else by using that much strength. But instead just dismantling the building, with as much care as she can muster under the circumstances, in order to maybe help her teammate. If this was a Life and Death situation don't you think her actions would be justified? Despite that there are many better ways of doing it, since it's supposed to be training I will allow it this time" after all might explanation the rest of the class had their focus back to the screens but they wouldn't have to wait long until they were surprised again. This time by Todoroki's power.

As soon as most of the rubble made from the fourth floor of the building was taken off Todoroki suddenly created a huge block of ice that latched on to Uehara's waist and bellow and followed up with another blast heading towards her head, which was kind of blocked considering her arm was frozen instead. But it simply wasn't enough. The ice was unable to contain her. And her following attempt at caching Todoroki manages to pull out gasps from almost everyone watching.

"What about now All Might-Sensei, you still don't think it might be a good idea to stop the fight here. Normally if a person got grabbed like that, wouldn't all of the bones in their bodies break!" This time All Might took a few seconds before answering.

"Its fine, we teachers received some information about all of you in advance and Young Uehara had asked for pads on her hands for her costume and right now we can all see one of the possible reasons why." His words were confirmed soon after when another attempt from the giant to catch Todoroki ended up with her caching a block of Ice instead and the ice didn't even crack from the impact. Those pads may be a little too effective.

*gasp* everyone was amazed at Todoroki's foresight and agility, dodging Uehara's attempts at grabbing him for almost 10 minutes before being caught and probably just because he must have gotten tired, she could certainly use some instruction on how to deal with this circumstance since she chose to repeat the same attempts again and again. On the other hand Uehara didn't even look winded when she caught him. It was an onslaught of attempts and she seemed to be distracted as well as having fun attempting to catch him.

"it's like watching a boss battle from a video game" whoever said that, most of the class certainly agreed.

After that she couldn't really continue to destroy the building like before, unless she decided to let go of Todoroki. And the rest of the fight was between Sero and Kirishima but under the former's effort the latter couldn't touch the weapon for the remaining time.

After a few minutes everyone was back and a discussion about this trial ensued.

POV: Sakura: Together with the class after the trial

"You guys were amazing, Uehara was all huge and destroying the building and then there was Todoroki dodging her hands for almost 10 minutes without stopping to rest and throwing huge chunks of ice at her and even some Iceberg sized ones left and right it was absolutely epic!" said Kaminari-san.

"It was indeed an enlightening exercise, Uehara-san's idea of dismantling the top floors of the building managed to distract Todoroki and transform Sero's and Kirishima's fight into a one on one in the end it was the Villains Team advantage of Preparing the building beforehand that made the biggest difference. Although I think if the positions were reversed the results would still have been mostly the same." As expected Yaoyorozu knows what to say but "yaoyorozu-san, the idea of taking of the upper building was actually Kirishima's but continuing with what you were saying why do you think the result would still have been the same?"

*cough*"the reason I think you would have lost is because your quirk is completely unsuitable for any form of indoors conflict, in other words you would be at great disadvantage regardless. I think looking for the bomb outside was the best course of action and would have certainly given the hero team enough advantage to win if it had worked but it was very easy to plan and prevent against it" after she took another breath "if your team had been the villains you would be all but forced to place the weapon in the terrace because you wouldn't be able to do your best otherwise and probably lose and even if that might have worked work against most of us Todoroki has a very powerful and versatile quirk he would be able to use for many different plans like breaking the ceiling on the floor below to get to the bomb or even facing you and Kirishima-san directly if the both of you were together. For enough time that I think Sero-san would have managed to get to the weapon. The only plan that I think would work in a real scenario would be for you to take the weapon, Kirishima-san and then run away. I think If you tried to run away they definitely wouldn't catch up to you no matter what, but that is also not an option because it wouldn't be an indoors exercise anymore"

"What about destroying the building in a real situation?"

"Well, that is also something that can't be done because it would probably compromise the weapon. The great amount of debris left in the corners around the building are another negative point because no one else could easily remove them unless they had a suitable quirk"

I think if this was an Anime it would be possible to see a sweat drop on everyone's heads.

"As expected, an excellent Analysis by young Yaoyorozu. If no one else has anything to add lets proceed to the next battle trial."

From what I heard the rest of the trials weren't as flashy as mine. I wasn't there to see them. Even before the trial after mine started I'd asked Sensei to let me go ask permission to keep the pads which I got by the way. Just that I had to come back as soon as possible and 'as soon as possible' happened to be after all of the other trials.

- On the next day -

On the next day the first class was from Aizawa Sensei. And he asked us to choose a class representative. After a short discussion it was decided for there to be an election where each student would give a single vote. Of course my vote went to Izuku. Since he looked like he wanted it, my second vote if I had one would have been for Ida-san because he feels like he's fit for the position.

Because I don't really eat during the intervals I wasn't there for the event where Ida called everyone's attention but I heard about it on the moment Izuku decided to give his position as class representative to Ida-san and also heard about everyone's thoughts about it, at least from those that did talk about them.

The rest of the class went on as usual. And then there were the afternoon basic Heroic exercises class. We were told by Aizawa-Sensei about how we would have this class under the supervision of three teachers: Himself, All Might and one more person. About how this time we would be having Rescue training and that it would take place outside the school and for that we would have to get there by bus but…

Because I couldn't fit inside the bus they got a big wagon where I would have to sit alone until we got there (T^T).

POV: everyone else, Inside the bus

"It is quite unfortunate that that Uehara-san can't get inside bus with the rest of us"

"Yeah, on the Battle exercise I said she was amazing but the repercussions of her quirk didn't come to mind at the time"

"Hey, Midoriya! You've know her for a long while right? Just what kind of life does she live being that size and all?"

"Well. She wasn't always that big, I think it was when she was about 8 years old that her quirk really started to take off, up until then we just thought her ability was to have moss grow on her body but it was a gradual change. By the time she was nine years old she had already surpassed 2 meters of height and it was during the next year that she had to start changing her life style"

"First she grew too big to enter normal vehicles like cars and trains but I think she could probably still fit inside one like this bus around that time. Then her difference in strength and weight started showing, do you know how there is that theory of an elephant being 1.000 taller than a small animal and 1.000.000 heavier because of the volume. By the time she was 11 normal chairs could no longer sustain her weight, simple objects like pens and rulers were too small for her use and she had to leave the school to study in her home. But that wasn't even close to the end of it, they had to take off the ceiling on the first floor of her house before she was 12."

"I am curious just how much she has to eat, considering her size."

"I know it, she told me and Ida-kun on the first day while we were walking towards the station, and apparently she almost doesn't need to eat at all"

"Then how is it that she got to that size"

"That's a very good question but she told us the theory was that she may perform photosynthesis or something similar to sustain herself"

"That would make sense considering the vegetation growing all around her body, moss counts as a plat right?"

"Well. Don't you think we should talk about something else? I mean talking about her behind her back like this just doesn't sit right with me, if we want to know more we should just talk to her about it later, I am sure she would know best"

"I guess you are right but what should we talk about next"

"I say whatever comes to mind. Midoriya-chan…"

"Yes! Asuyi-san". "Call me Tsuyu-chan"… "Your quirk is similar to all might's"

"Wait a second Tsuyu-chan. All Might doesn't get hurt when he uses his. they just kind of look the same"

"But it is nice to have a simple augmenting-type quirk. You can do lots of flashy stuff!"

"Weren't we just talking about how having one of those may not actually be nice"

"yeah, we were, but I think everyone can understand she is a case apart from the others I mean… if you consider just how much stronger she is compared to the rest of us it makes sense that she would have such a big drawback, no pun intended, my quirk 'Hardening' is strong against others but it isn't very flashy and well isn't she the flashiest of us all"

"You're kind of right, even if she wasn't trying to become a hero in hindsight it looks like it would actually be harder to try and ignore her if you saw her on the street simply because she is unable to be just another passerby"

"I think your quirk is plenty good. It's definitely a quirk that could pass as a pro's"

"I think you're right but as a hero popularity is kind of important as well"

"But I guess besides Uehara, if you are talking about flashy and strong. It's got to be Todoroki and Bakugo right?"

"Todoroki-chan managed to keep up with Uehara-chan for more than 10 minutes after all, but Bakugo-chan is always angry so he doesn't seem like he'll be popular"

"WHAT THE HELL! YOU WANNA FIGHT!"

"see…", "we haven't know each other for long so it's amazing that everyone already understands that his personality is crap"

"WHATS WITH YOUR MOUTH, BASTARD? I WILL KILL YOU!"

"What a vulgar conversation"

We're here, stop messing around "YES!"

POV: Sakura

We're finally here…

After everyone got out of the bus we got to see that there was someone waiting for us. Izuku being the Hero nerd he is announced for everyone that didn't know, not really for that reason but that's how I treated it, that it was the space hero Thirteen. That showed us the inside the building and started explaining what it was.

"A shipwreck, a landslide, a wildfire, a windstorm, et cetera. A training ground that I made with different types of accidents and disasters. It's called the 'Unforeseen Simulation Joint' or 'USJ' for short"

After a small conversation between the both of them Thirteen-Sensei started to give a speech about quirks and how they may be dangerous but that they aren't made to be dangerous and being part of us it also made to be something that protects and saves people like the Heroes we got in U.A. High to become.

The part where he talked about how some of us have the kinds of quirks that can kill left me especially inspired. Probably because for me that mistake is always a possibility and all that need to do to make sure it happens is not doing something as simple as paying attention where I step as even stepping or hitting someone else while walking could gravely injure and even kill another passerby. And if I happen to stumble, as it has happened before, when I was getting used to walking while being so tall, the ground would surely crack and if I fall it is also certain to cause some destruction.

For someone like me the world is fragile place. And the idea of learning how to use my 'surely made for destruction' characteristics to protect another instead of hurting them with my presence resonated with me.

And for the first time I felt like coming to U.A. on the Hero course by my own selfish desire to watch over Izuku and taking someone else's chance to be here was worth it because even if I didn't get here with the desire to be a Hero and was dragged along by the will of my friends and family I still managed to find something to inspire me to be better and to want to be better and to finally, maybe, even if right now it's just an idea that crossed my mind in this moment, wanting to deserve being here. The challenge is to make the people recognize me for HOW I am and WHO I am instead of WHAT I am.

Every one of us was applauding after his speech but our happiness didn't last long.

As soon after his speech the artificial lights turned out leaving everything darker as if to be an omen that something was about to happen.

Well this was it, I tried to reduce the amount of time Sakura appeared in this one to open space for the rest of the class, going back to the scene of the class conversation on the bus was fun because there was actually something to talk about that wasn't exactly what showed in the original manga/anime even though she wasn't there to interfere.

I was kind of iffy about describing who said what but I decided to attempt to make it noticeable trough each of their habits and characteristics, because I think it would be awkward to describe who said what after every piece of dialog.

Well besides that I will see that the next chapter is completely rewritten in a different enough stile so that you can compare which one you guys like more. Before that can happen I will have to deliver the sad news that I won't be able to do it for the next week.

You know I started writing this a little bit before the start of my classes and I had a plan, I would post a chapter every week and that way I could buy myself enough time to write chapters up until I didn't have to worry about the classes anymore and focus on the story, and if just by number of chapters I have piled up it would have worked but I didn't account for my imperfections and that I would end up trying to change the way I write so it can be more welcoming for other people.

In fact I was just hit by a wave of inspiration, not for the next chapter but for actual continuation. Unfortunately I also can't make use of it because there is another reason I won't be able to post the next chapter after a week, writing turned into a hobby for me. It is something that I have to put effort in order to not do and since it's kind of new for me I lost myself in it. It wasn't a problem at first but now I have lists of exercises and essays to do for almost every major and the time limit for some of them has already passed. I had ignored them because I was having fun. I lost myself into it.

Well I can't keep ignoring them or else I will be in some real trouble. I am warning that I will have to try catch up to everything I have to do and everything I will have to do before I continue writing. This is important because it might take more than a week. So I don't know when the next chapter will come out, hopefully not after a month of delay but to keep writing when I have so much work to do would be hypocrisy for me if i have time to write them i should have time to follow my responsabilities.

And with that a last warning that every time I think something might delay the next chapter I will place a warning be it on the end of a chapter or as some temporary author's note. I won't make it a responsibility to keep writing since I don't want it to turn into a chore but knowing someone cares about the story incentivizes me to keep posting the chapters, if not for a friend it probably wouldn't have seen the light of day. If I stop posting without warning you're free to assume the worst, that my computer broke or that I am dead, because I am dead serious about the story. I have some ideas about other stories but I am also cautious about making them a serious project exactly for the reason that I think it will be hard to finish this one without stopping in the first place and if I do, it will cerainly have hundreds of thousands of words at the very minimun, considering my plans for it and it will take take a few years, if I don't stop that is, who know what the future holds in store.
