A/N: I'm using the lyrics of one of my favorite songs "Kill Em with Kindness" by Selena Gomez. This really fits this chapter... :)
CHAPTER SEVEN: Should have told you
Frank Hardy waited a few moments for his little brother to respond to his text. There was no answer, no three little dots to show him his little brother was texting to him. His heart nearly stopped when his phone buzzed with the Star Trek theme song. He looked around as he stood near the school entrance. He had missed so many school classes that he would probably be behind with his homework but that didn't matter at the moment.
"Dad?" He spoke into the phone.
"Your mom called me. The principal said that you and Joe were late to school?"
"Yeah, about that..."
"What's wrong?"
"Well...Um...Joe got kidnapped."
"What do you mean?!"
"A few days ago, Joe got into a fight because they said he wasn't a real Hardy." Frank paused hoping Dad would interject and say something that his little brother was a real Hardy but he didn't. "I texted Joe and he said he just left his captor's place... I told him to keep his GPS on..."
"And it's not on is it?"
"No," Frank let out a deep breath that he had been holding in.
"Frank, I need to tell you something but I have to tell you in person."
"Okay, but what about Joe?"
"We'll find Joe, I promise,"
As Joe sat in the limo, with his hands in his hair, he stared out the darkened window. Life was passing him by. Xavier had given him a soda even though he preferred a water bottle at the moment.
"Son?" Xavier patted his leg with a smile. Joe looked up at him wearily. "Would you like to listen to some music?"
"I guess,"
"How about Selena Gomez?" Xavier suggested. Joe shrugged. He really didn't care at the moment. He felt so miserable at the thought of he wasn't a real Hardy. Xavier took a remote and pushed a button. Music started and it kind of felt a little soothing to Joe's broken heart.
The world can be a nasty place
Yeah, defintely...especially the people who lied to you.
You know it, I know it, yeah
Don't I know it.
See, we don't have to fall from grace
Put down the weapons you fight with
He wasn't even fighting which felt oddly strange. Please why did you choose this song?!
And kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em, kill 'em, kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Go ahead, go ahead now
If only it was that easy...but could be that easy.. Killing them with kindness sounded kind of nice. Joe leaned back his head against the seat.
We're running out of time chasing our lives
Everyday a small piece of you dies
There's aways somebody you're willing to fight, to be right
Your lies are bullets, your mouth's a gun
No war and anger was ever won
Put out the fire before igniting
Next time you're fighting
Please, kill 'em with kindness
Joe really wanted to laugh at the words. Maybe he was going to kill his family with kindness.
Kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em, kill 'em, kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Go ahead, go ahead now
Your lies are bullets, your mouth's a gun
No war and anger was ever won
Put out the fire before igniting
Why can't we stop fighting?
And kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em, kill 'em, kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Kill 'em with kindness
Go ahead, go ahead now
Joe sighed and his stomach dropped when suddenly the limo halted to a stop.
"What happened, Stanton?" Xavier demanded. "Why did you stop?"
Caine who sat across Joe and grinned. The plan was going perfectly. The boy was practically broken and that would be like rubbing Fenton's wound with salt. Once Caine kidnapped the boy, he would get some money from the millionaire, Xavier Stevenson. He grinned. Caine pulled out his gun from his jacket and pointed it at Joe.
"What is going on here, Evan?" Stevenson demanded. Caine smirked and motioned for Joe to get out of the limo.
"You think I was doing this for fun, Xavier? Its always about the money." The villian watched as Joe slid out of his seat, Caine shoved him out the limo. The kid nearly fell over but he was okay, hopefully.
"I'll be giving you a ransom note at 3 pm. Say goodbye to your son." Caine slammed the limo door shut. He turned around to see Joe struggling against his goons.
"Oh, come on, Joseph, don't annoy me further. Okay?" Caine walked up to him and touched the end of the gun on the boy's neck. "Okay?" Joe relaxed a little, breathing hard.
"Thank you,"
"I know where he is, Frank," Fenton Hardy said. They had been driving around town hoping to catch a limo with "XAVIER" on the license plate.
"Okay... Where?"
"Bayport Hotel." Several minutes later the two Hardys arrived to see a limo. Fenton craned his neck to see the familiar words...XAVIER...
"That's it, Dad!" Frank yelled. As soon as Fenton stopped the car, he jumped out and pounded on the window's glass. "Open up!" Fenton ran after him, beads of sweat falling down his face. The window slowly opened. Fenton put a hand on Frank's arm to calm him down.
"Oh, hello Fenton." Xavier said, tears in his eyes. "Where's Joe?"
"You had him!" Frank spat. Xavier turned his head to look at the sixteen year old boy.
"No, I do not, Frank," The millionaire replied calmly.
"YES YOU DO!" Frank shouted, extremely frustrated.
"My private detective, Evan Caine took him for ransom, Fenton," Fenton's heart raced as the blood in his face drained.
"No, no, NO!" Fenton slammed his fist on top of the fist in anger. "I should have told him!"
"What's wrong, Dad? What are you saying?" Fenton shook his head, ashamed.
"I should have told YOU! Why was I so foolish?!"
"What are you talking about?" Frank put a warm comforting hand on his shoulder. Fenton leaned his head against his arm.
"I should have told you that Joe isn't your brother,"
