Chapter 7
After a couple weeks, everyone was in a routine. Ana finished up her schoolwork and submitted everything. She spent her time reading and hanging out at work with Olivia or Trevor. She was even helping Christian with some T-shirt designs. She enjoyed drawing so it was perfect. She actually started liking going to work with them, but she was excited about summer.
The bad part about going to work with Trevor was waking up earlier. "Dad, why do I have to go with you today?" He made a sad face, "Sorry I didn't mean it like that, but you go so early." He smiled, "We've got something to do. Stop complaining." Olivia walked out and went straight to Ana, "What did I do to you?" Ana looked at Trevor, "Your dad said you asked to go with him to work." Ana thought fast, "I needed to use the Mac at his office for my design. Maybe if you bought me a Mac." She smiled, "Charmer!"
"Babe we have an appointment today at 2:00." He looked, "Yep got it!" Olivia and Trevor had an appointment with an OBGYN to go over some options. Olivia was nervous about the whole thing and Trevor knew Ana always calmed her down. Over the last couple weeks, she was stressed, but all Ana had to do was hug her. He needed Ana though and they weren't going to work, Mother's Day was on Sunday and it was her first one. "Bye mom, see ya later." Trevor gave her a kiss, "Hey the appointment, what are we telling her." He shrugged, "We will figure it out. See you later, love you."
When Ana got in the car, Trevor gave her the big news. "Guess what? No work today. We are going to breakfast and then shopping." Ana was confused, "You lied to mom and me. You're going to be in so much trouble." At breakfast he explained, "Mother's day is Sunday." Ana looked up excited, "Dad it's her first and we have to make it special." He laughed, "I know, good thing one of us is thinking. Am I still in trouble?" Ana went on a mile a minute, she was excited.
They went to the jewelry store first, "Look around kiddo." She turned and asked, "I can pick anything?" He shook his head yes and she started looking. He explained to the sales clerk, the relationship and her heart just melted. "How much is that one?" Trevor moved over, "How much? Are you paying?" Ana laughed, "No way dad." The clerk pulled it out, "Well, I won't tell you how much, but it's half off. And we can even engrave the back." Ana picked out a necklace with a diamond key and heart attached. "I like it! What do you think?" Ana shook her head. "Do you want something on the back?" Ana thought about it, "Yeah on the key I want Always your baby and on the heart Love, Ana."
She took it in the back and brought it back all wrapped up, in Mother's Day paper. "Enjoy!" They got in the car, "Ok, now we need a card." Ana texted Christian immediately, "I need a huge favor." She saw dots, "Ok! What do I get in return?" Ana thought, "Three kisses in exchange for three things." She watched the dots again, I'm down. What do you need?" Ana smiled, "Wow you've been waiting for that huh.
I need 4 shirts for Mother's Day. 2 sets, one says I make the rules and the other says I break the rules. The other set needs to say, my hero, my friend, my mom with an arrow and the other similar but my daughter with an arrow. The last thing is a custom cup that says, Don't mess with my kid, because I'm a bad ass cop." She waited for the response, "You got it! I will even give it to my mom and while you are with them at work I will have her put it under your bed." Christian was also going to work on Trevor's Father's Day gifts to match.
They picked up the card and dropped off everything at home. He called Olivia, "Hey baby, want to leave early and meet for lunch, we did." Olivia agreed, "Actually yes! Come pick me up, I rode with Alex this morning. I thought when we left we could all be together." Trevor grabbed his keys, "We're on the way." They picked her up, "Babe what do you feel like?" Olivia shrugged, "Ana you pick." That was easy for her, "Shake Shack please!" They went to Central Park one Saturday and ever since Ana tasted Shake Shack, it's been her favorite. "Fine but do not dip your fries in your shake." They all laughed.
After lunch they headed to the doctor's appointment. They still hadn't told Ana what kind of appointment it was. They got in the elevator and hit the button. Ana really didn't pay attention, she just drank her milkshake. Olivia filled out paperwork and was called to the back. Ana followed them and watched Olivia give blood. "Mom did that hurt?" Olivia kissed her, "Not much baby." When they were shown to the room and the nurse told Olivia to change into the robe in the bathroom and take off everything below the waist, that got Ana's attention.
She looked at the posters on the wall and when Olivia came out, "Mom are having a baby?" They looked at her, "Ana probably not. It's just a visit to see what's going on. I'm not able to have children." Ana felt sad, because she was a good mom. Things made more sense and she understood why she cared for her so much. "I'm sorry. You would be a good mom. Olivia kissed her, "Excuse me would be, I am a mom, yours. But we may look at other options though, would you like a brother or sister?" Ana smiled, "Yes!" Trevor smiled at her answer and Olivia told Ana, "No matter what, I'm your mom. You're my first baby."
A young looking lady walked in with a white coat. "Hi! I'm Dr. Greene and I see it's a family affair. I like it already." She shook everyone's hand, "I'm Olivia, this is my husband Trevor, and our daughter Ana." Dr. Greene smiled, Olivia wrote all that down in the information section. "Ok so sit back for me and slide your feet here and your butt down. Ana giggled and they all looked at her smiling, "Oh sorry."
Olivia was confused, "Dr. Greene, before you get started, this was supposed to be a consultation, so I'm confused as to why all this." She looked at everyone in the room, "It's ok you say anything you need to." Dr. Greene spoke to them honestly, "I don't want you to get upset or anything. I read your files and people are different and health is different. You were on birth control at 16, due to heavy periods. She was flipping through the files, "Olivia from the bloodwork, you're pregnant." Everyone's mouths dropped open, "I don't know, I need to do an internal ultrasound and maybe even a regular one."
The room was in shock, "I'm going to be honest with you, birth control coming off, going through different ones, just could have thrown off your body. Stress in your life or job. Why did you come off birth control?" I was only with Trevor and we were both tested, my periods aren't bad, I honestly I thought maybe early menopause. I'm 36. I haven't missed a period." Dr. Greene smiled, "One, that's not old anymore. Two, it was probably spotting. Well how about we take a look."
Dr. Greene pulled out this big wand and stuck it in Olivia. Ana watched her wince. "Mom, are you ok?" Olivia shook her head yes. Ana looked at the monitor Ana saw a little floating thing. She moved closer, "Mom it's a baby." Olivia and Trevor were crying. She used a different ultrasound. "You're 3 months pregnant." Everyone was totally shocked. "Ok! Get dressed and meet me in my office. Hey this is great news. You were coming to see me because you wanted this. You have it and everything looks good." When she left Olivia looked at her stomach, "How did I not know?"
In Dr. Greene's office, they talked about vitamins and eating. Olivia needed to ask a sex question without saying sex. Ana was attentive of course, "Dr. Greene, what about normal married life? It gets pretty rough sometimes. Now I know why." Trevor looked at Ana but listened to the answer, "You are good. I will list that right here in your journal."
Dr. Greene was smiling and writing and Ana was on the edge of her seat. "Ana do you have a question?" Ana shook her head, "Every night, I lay with my mom. It's her favorite time. What if I squish the baby?" Dr. Greene thought she was cute, "Well, that won't happen, your mom's belly will get round and tight to protect the baby, but if you're still worried, lay on her side. I'm going to give you the most important job. Here some paper and a pen. You ready?" Ana shook her head, "Since you lay there every night, I want you to talk to the baby, read a story, and even play some music." Ana wrote everything down, "I've got it!"
They all stood up and headed home. Ana wanted to know, "When are we telling people?" They both looked at her, "Not yet Ana." Ana held her hands up. "I won't. I'm sworn to secrecy." Olivia was sitting on the edge of the bed reading Dr. Greene's notes, "Well at least I know why sex was so different." Olivia smiled, "The doctor said it's common and probably won't lose the feeling until I'm heavily pregnant."
Sunday came and they all went to brunch at a fancy hotel. The guys blocked off a private area. Everyone ate, laughed and enjoyed the time together. When it was time for the gifts, All of the mom's we're excited. Grace had several, because she had the most kids. Alex went next, because Amanda was so excited. Olivia cried when she saw the necklace and engraving. She laughed hysterically when reading the cup and shirt about rules. Alex spoke up, "Ummm we definitely need that shirt, Amanda." Christian promised to make them one.
Trevor whispered in Ana's ear and she looked at Olivia to make sure. When Olivia nodded, Ana took off her jacket. "Guys, check out this shirt?" Ana talked to both of them about Sunday and that Christian could make a shirt that told everyone Olivia was pregnant. He was the only one allowed to know. They all read the front of the shirt aloud, "I've got a secret." Amanda looked, "Ok Ana what is it?" Ana jumped spinning around, only to hear screaming, "Oh my gosh!" The back said, I'm going to be a big sister. They all flocked to Olivia and she told the story. Everyone was so happy.
May and June were full of parties. Mia had a huge celebration on May 15th, because she turned 18. It was the biggest party Ana had ever seen. While the adults were entertaining, Amanda slipped beside Ana, "Some hot looking guy with gray eyes and wild hair said you owed him something." She looked over and Christian was looking at her. "Go I've got you, but if I text, get your ass back in view."
Ana was nervous she owed him three kisses and he hadn't forgotten. "Did you think I would forget?" Ana shook her head, "Nope, but you forgot something." He looked confused, "What?" Ana raised her eyebrows, "You had drama to tell me. And you promised before me." Christian laughed, because she was smart, "My mom, dad, and Liv have lived in the same building for a while. Trevor worked with my dad and they were close. I'd seen Liv before and I knew she was a cop, because I saw the badge. They haven't been friends as long as her and Alex but they were still close. My family and I knew Olivia professionally about a year ago. You don't know any of this?"
Ana told him, "No." Ana could tell Christian was scared, "My mom and dad took me to SVU and that's when I met Detective Benson." Ana tried not to react, but she knew as soon as he said it. "Even though my mom is a pediatrician, she never wanted to have to doctor her own kids. We all had the same one. Her name was Dr. Elena Lincoln."
Ana picked up his hand and held it. "She was always nice. When I went for my yearly appointment she asked to strip. Just like that and I thought it was weird, the way she was talking to me. Ana had heard that word before and she had a flashback. Christian looked at her, "Are you ok?" Ana shook her head, "Yeah sorry."
Christian continued, "I hesitated, because she seemed weird. She slapped me in my face and spun me around and pulled my pants down. She started touching me everywhere. She pulled on my, you know." Ana listened to him, "Did you tell?" Christian shook his head, "I didn't and she did it every time I went. I knew it was but it felt good. She even told my mom that she wanted to help with my nerve damage. She made sure she saw me a lot. I'm embarrassed because it felt…"
Ana answered, "Christian, she knew what she was doing. You can't blame yourself." Christian smiled, "That's what Liv said. Me and Elliot had an appointment the same day. Elliot went first. All me and dad saw was Elliot run out in his boxers yelling. He called her sick crazy bitch right there in the waiting room. The police were called, Elliot talked, they sent me to Liv and Fin. They investigated and we weren't alone. She killed herself while out on bail."
Christian looked at Ana, "You aren't looking at me like I'm sick." Ana leaned close, "because you're not." She kissed him softly on the cheek, "That's one." Christian smiled, "I thought three kisses meant on the lips." Ana scrunched her face, "You don't get to call that, I promised the kisses." She leaned across his body brushing his chest, and kissed the other cheek, "That's two." Ana was so nervous, but she leaned in and kissed him right on the lips. "That's three." Christian swallowed, he thought her lips were so soft and she was so sweet.
Amanda sent a text, "Get back." She showed it to Christian, "I gotta go, don't follow me." When she got back, Amanda told her to think of something. She had gotten carried away with Dominick and everyone was looking for her, "Ana!" Olivia ran over, "Where have you been?" Ana was about to lie, but she didn't, "I was talking to Christian over there." Olivia looked at her, "Ok well next time, please don't disappear." She pulled Olivia back, "Can we talk later?" Olivia kissed her, "Always."
When they got home and settled Olivia popped her head in Ana's room. How about we talk and I lay in here with you. "Mom if I tell you something are you going to tell dad?" Olivia sighed, "Remember when we talked about coming to us. I don't want secrets, baby. Did you do something you think was wrong?" Ana shrugged, "A little. Amanda wanted me to lie, but didn't. I went to be alone with Christian. He told me about Dr. Lincoln and I kissed him three times. Twice on the cheek and once on the lips." Olivia held her, "Why did you kiss him?" Ana explained that she promised him, but they were still just friends. "Thank you for telling me and trusting me. Ana, promise to tell me if you ever feel like you want to do something other than kiss." Trevor was calm and was glad she was honest.
Ana was asleep and she heard the word "Strip!" She could feel herself thrashing around the bed, but she couldn't wake up. "No! No!" Olivia and Trevor heard her and went to her room. She walked over, "Baby wake up." Ana opened her eyes and gasped out loud. She was breathing hard and sweating. "Hey! Calm down. What's wrong?" She hugged her mom, "Can I sleep with you?" Olivia looked at Trevor, "Ok, but you're soaked, shower first." They asked her the next morning, but Ana just blew it off.
June marked the end of school for everyone. Summer was finally here. Amanda celebrated her 14th birthday on June 1st and Christian on June 18th. Everyone met at the Grey's house in the Hamptons. It was a triple celebration for his birthday, Father's Day, and Mia's going away party. The house was amazing. It had so many bedrooms, a tennis court, basketball court, and a huge outdoor area with a pool. The gang was sad to leave, but they would be back in less than a month for July 4th and Elliot's birthday.
Everyone said goodbye to Mia from there, she was heading to Paris for four years to study cooking. She was going to come back and open her own restaurant. Everyone cried, Mia was so sweet and caring. She was always the responsible one, being the oldest. Lucy cried so much and all Elliot could do was comfort her. "Hey best friend, take care of our room and keep my brothers out." Mia hugged her and tears continued to fall. Mia hugged everyone else. Even when she got to Ana, who she hadn't known long, "Keep Christian in line and welcome to the family kid." Mia got in the cab, "I love you guys! See you at Christmas."
