After they arrived home, Lincoln walked in to find his sisters were nowhere to be seen.
"Where is everybody?" Asked Lincoln. "They're all upstairs. They've been waiting for you to come home. They've been pretty anxious." Replied Lynn Sr. Lincoln was a little worried. He was sure he knew why and he didn't want to be reminded.
He limped upstairs and found a note taped to his door. "Meet in Leni's room."
Lincoln opened the door to Leni's room and found all his sisters waiting.
"Hey guys, what's going on?" He asked.
At first, nobody said anything, until Lynn spoke up.
"Clyde told us what happened at school today. We wanted to talk to you about it."
Lincoln sighed in frustration. "Why do I need to keep being reminded about people telling me the truth?!" Cried Lincoln. "What are you talking about??" Asked Luan. "Don't act like you don't know!! Everybody knows this leg makes me look like an ugly freak!! That's all I am now!! It's all I'll ever be now!!" Lincoln's face grimaced as fresh tears filled his eyelids. Unable to take it, he ran to his room and shut the door.
The girls looked worriedly at each other as their parents ran in. "What happened? I heard Lincoln shouting." Asked Lynn Sr. "We, uh, heard that Lincoln had been picked on at school today and we wanted him to tell us what happened. But, then the little dude lashed out and called himself an ugly freak and ran to his room." Explained Luna.
Both parents put their hands over the eyes and sighed in exasperation. "Girls, I'm glad you're concerned for your brother, but school today has been very upsetting for him and he doesn't need to be reminded of it. Not only that, he's going through a extremely sudden change and needs time to wrap his head around it." Said Rita. "Should we get gauze for his head?" Asked Leni. Everyone rolled their eyes. "No sweetie, we just need to give Lincoln some space right now. If he wants to talk, let him come to you. Ok?"
"Yes mom." The sisters said in unison. "Ok. Now, why don't you guys find something to do until dinner?" Suggested Lynn Sr. The girls went to their respected rooms and started looking around for something to do. Rita and Lynn Sr wanted to talk to Lincoln as much as the girls did, but they knew he needed some time. "He'll come to someone if he needs help." Sighed Lynn Sr.
A little later, Luna and Luan were looking at old family pictures. "Luna? Luan?" Standing in the doorway, was Lincoln. "Oh, hey little dude. We're sorry about earlier." Said Luna. "No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have shouted at you guys. Especially you Luan. You guys were just trying to help." Sighed Lincoln.
Luan walked over to Lincoln and hugged him tightly. Luna joined them as well. Soon, the others had heard Lincoln and came to see him. Seeing the three hugging made them join in too.
"I'm really sorry guys. It's just...Everything's so different now. Even though it's one thing, everybody's not seeing me the same way anymore. They all think that I'm too different now." Whimpered Lincoln. The siblings broke their hug so Luan could look at her little brother.
"I know that this isn't the same, but I know how it feels for people to judge you for how you look. They may think that just because you have a prosthetic leg means you'll never gain anything in life, but that's where their wrong. If there's one thing I've learned through the ups and downs of my comedy dream, it's that looks don't matter. It's what you do that matters. And leg or no leg you are the same Lincoln. The Lincoln who can do anything he puts his mind too. And always will be."
Everyone was speechless. No one had ever heard Luan say something so wise. "Thank you Luan. I needed that." Said Lincoln when he found his voice. "Of course Linc." And the sisters let Luan and Lincoln share another hug.
After dinner, Lincoln was sitting in his room. Luan's words were still fresh in his mind. And not just hers, but Ava's and Lori's as well. Lincoln looked out the window and knew that they were right. He was still the same boy, but also about something else too. He wasn't the only one going through this. He knew there were hundreds of people in the exact same situation all over the world.
Lincoln then looked at his desk and saw his video camera sitting next to his laptop. And before he knew it, The Man With The Plan was already deep in thought.
