I love Chloe, we need more Chloe in Danmachi. Course we need more side girls ;) in the show
It was twenty minutes in their meal when they both were full, and they still had more then enough for taking home.
"Well, We'll have enough for the three of us to narrow for breakfast." Riveria said.
"Well if we're going to the Dungeon tomorrow, than we can pack this for our trip then. Bell said. Putting his two cents in
"An excellent idea, but let's see if Athena would like some of this regardless first." She said as the two had left the payment in the table and were three feet away from the exit when they heard the voice of their waitress stop them, or rather Bell.
"Wait up!" The two stopped when they heard the voice of their waitress.
"Yes?" Riveria said taking charge of the conversation.
"Here." Chloe said, handing Bell a wrapped package.
"Thank you?" Bell said not sure what was happening.
Riveria on the other hand had a small well hidden smirk.
'Ahh so that's what this whole thing is about.' She thought, knowing what it was.
"I heard that nyou two were going into the dungeon tomorrow so I made this for you." She said handing Bell a neatly warped box.
"Thank you, what is it?" Bell asked clueless.
"It's some lunch for you silly." Chloe said with a smile and a..gleam in her eye.
"Eh?!" Bell said surprised.
"He's very thankful for your consideration." Riveria said sparring him from anymore embarrassment.
"Umm what do I owe you?" Bell asked digging his hole even deeper.
'Sigh Bell'
"Nyothing it's my way of rooting for you tomorrow."
"T-thank you." Bell said bowing a bit and with that the two left.
"Well Chloe, if your serious about him you better be quick to grab him." Mia said as the Cat walked back to the kitchen.
"Oh I plan on grabbing plenty." She said with no shame what so ever as every who knew her could only sigh in defeat.
"Go send these plates to table nine." Mia said.
"Congratulations Bell, you have a romantic admirer." Riveria said in a chipper almost teasing voice as she watched his reaction.
"W-What?!" Bell said Stock still blushing like mad.
"Oh come Bell, it's nothing to be embarrassed about." Riveria said looking at the boy quickly recover.
"L-let's go home now please." Bell said walking briskly taking the lead from here on out Riveria could only shake her head with a light hearted huff.
"So you two are planning to head to the Dungeon, that's good."
"Well to be honest, I'm kind of nervous."
"that's just the pre dungeon jitters talking Bell." Athena said placing a hand on his head that he found comforting.
"Still I hear that the first three floors are easy to handle once we've gotten used to the flow of things." Riveria said putting her two cents in.
"Well I'll fix you up some tea that will help with your nerves." Athena said getting up leaving the two.
"So, since it's the two of us, I believe that it would be best if we just stick to the first 4 floors, with 2 and 3 being our main focus so we can't get an understanding of our strengths and weaknesses."
"That Sounds Fine, Miss Riveria, but um I'm not so sure what kind of fighting I want to use."
"That's why we're going, it will help us find out what works and what flows."
"Umm what kind of fighting can you do?"
"I'm a magic user Bell. I'll admit, I do fall into a bit of a stereotype being an Elf but I am quite proficient with a sword when I need to defend myself."
"That's amazing Miss Riveria!" Bell said almost star struck.
"It's not really, everyone who is a mage should have at least have training in hand held weapons."
"Alright Bell here's your tea."
"Thank you goddess." Bell said as he began to drink it.
"This is delicious"
"Thank you Bell. So you've made your choice on entering the Dungeon then?"
"Yes, we've decided to stick to the first 4 floors while floors 2 and 3 being our main focus."
"Good Choice to make, Bell. Make sure you protect Riveria now you hear." Athena was saying closeting her eyes and pointing her finger up.
"Mages act as rear support and rely on others to protect you. I know Riveria is also a Sword user but keep those monsters away from her you hear?"
"Y-yes goddess Athena." Bell could only say.
"Please Athena don't give him more things to worry about I can take care of myself and do my fair share."
"I know." Athena said in a tone that signaled this conversation over... Until.
"So Bell, I hear you've won the heart of a girl, what's that about?" Athena said with a smile as she rested her chin and cheek on her right hand as she watch Bell choke and spew his tea.
"G-goddess Athena!" Bell cried in embarrassment.
"What? I want to know all about how Orario future hero has won the heart of a Maiden!"
"Ah it's quite the tale let me tell you." Riveria said sagely as Bell quickly looked to her looking like a kicked Pupster. To be honest Riveria is a bit of a romantic.. ok she was a moderate romantic.
Hey! When you have a racial supremest for a dad you try and find things to get the mind off his crazy. And when you have a fascination for the world and what it's full of you READ. And it also didn't help that her personal attendant and best friend was a huge romantic. Aina wasn't very liked by her Father, even though Aina was his Niece from his sisters side she was still a member of the branch family of Alf.
The reason he didn't like her was because she was quote "Too Human" for an Elf. Still, she was a loyal friend too Riveria and Riveria' mother was the main reason Aina was chosen to be her personal Attendant.
Sadly though (if we look at it in Bells point of view) Aina gave her the enjoyment of romanticism. That was just one of the things she rubbed off onto her.
But Riveria wouldn't trade her memory's nor experiences with Aina for anything in the world...except for ONE THING; oh how greatly she wished she had gone with Aina and left her life then and there just a couple years ago. How different would her life have been? And it pained her greatly that for all that Aina had done for her and all that Aina had dreamed for, She would fall ill. And it pained her more that she wasn't there to help her.
She knew that Aina wouldn't trade her health for anything though, She met someone who loved her with all his heart and she has a daughter that is her pride and joy. That first part, about her falling in love and marrying a Human; she sometimes wished she could have seen the look on her fathers face when news of that reached him. But oh well.
"It all started when Bell bumped into the poor girl and knocked her down."
Gasp* "Bell!"
"N-No Y-y-y-y you got it wrong goddess Athena!" Bell said in horror yet his face entirely red.
"And as fate would have it destiny manifested into a roaring growl as if the heavens announced and even proclaimed this fated meeting." Riveria started saying, getting more and more into the teasing story. Another thing that rubbed off on her from Aina.
As she was telling this story, her mind seemed to stop time as she wonders what she was doing. However she could only giver herself a mental smirk and a mental laugh as she realized something. Something that had changed her life forever.
'Only with these two.'
Four simple words, yet so full of power and meaning; and dare she even go so far as to say purpose? Well that was yet to be determined for sure, but she knew in the back of her mind that it was only a matter of time.
As she realized that, a feeling that was rare for her came to her as she continued her teasing tale. She felt happy..no.. it was more than happiness, it was freedom. Here she didn't have to be reminded about the life she had lived for just over three quarters of a century. Here she could be what ever she wanted, act however she wanted, and she once again came to a life changing realization, that she could share this felling with her friend and goddess; Her Familia.
And so she recounted the dramatic and romantic tale of Bell's fated encounter with a Black Cat. Athena happily playing along. Acting star struck and engrossed into the tale as they both ignored yet enjoyed the reactions from Bell.
Yet as the two knew and shared without words, this was more of a bonding experience between the two then it was teasing the poor Bunny. That was just extra.
eventually Bell just gave up and mopped into his chair as Athena gave enough laugh for the two of them, rubbing his head and ushering him to bed the candles were blown and the mood been set. Tomorrow would be their long awaited moment of truth.
Yet before Riveria closed her eyes, she thought about all that had happened the past few days since she came to Orario. How she met Bell and how he has risen to where he is now. And mostly of all how much she has changed in so little time. Riveria firmly believed that it was the result of her new found freedom. And more importantly she was amazed how a Human and a goddess were able to instill so much change from her, sure she was ready and eager to change but she never once imagined that it would come so quickly.
However, it was done and there was no going back, not like she was ever going too in the first place. Yet as she closed her eyes, she thought of one last thing before sleep took her.
'Thank you Aina, for supporting me all this way, and for all you have given me and shared with me.'
"HHAA!" Bell said striking down a Kobold. Thanks to Riveria Bell found that he felt most comfortable using a knife, and he's been using the one the guild had provided quite well.
Riveria had actually chosen to use carry both her staff and her sword, she had yet to use the sword but it was there until she could get a feel for the Dungeon as well as defense when Bell was too far. However there was no need for Bells support as she was quite quick to cast her spells to kill her fair share of monsters. In fact Bell was impressed, but then he reminded himself.
'As expected of an Elf.' Was it racial stereotypen? *PSH* nah! It was just common sense Bell grew up with, that all high elves were naturally born magician' with a near instant mastery of magic.
Else where a certain Elf girl sneezed.
"Bless you."
"Thank you.
"Well, I think it's safe to say that we can head down to floor 3." Riveria said as Bell was picking up the spoils.
"That fine with me Miss Riveria, but we're running out of space for all the monster drops. I'd say maybe fifteen more." Bell said.
Athena was wonderful enough to give them a nice beginners bag that could hold one hundred monster stones, not counting space for other dropped items which they had 12 which means they only had a total of 50 stones on them.
"Alright then, what time is it?" Athena also provided Bell with a little pocket watch. When you were down in the Dungeon it was extremely easy to lose the time when you were down.
"About 12:30" They had gone down at around six.
"We really have lost track of time then. Alright we'll break for lunch here, then we'll go down too the third floor to fill our bag then head up to head back up to the surface too bring in all our items. Looks like floor four will have to wait next time."
"Alright that's fine."
"And here you go. 250'000 valis. I must say this is extremely lucky for a pair of new adventures, it may even be a record!."
The receptionist said in genuine surprise.
"Alright!" Bell said excited.
"Thank you." Riveria said as she took the bags. "We'd like to borrow a private room to count this please."
"Of course! Room 2 is free to use."
Let's go Bell." She instructed Bell.
"So what are we doing?"
"Well we got lucky today Bell. So first we'll use this too pay off the started equipment you were given. Then we'll head home."
"Ahh, right." Bell said rubbing his head in some form of embarrassment at mentioning that his equipment would take almost half of their earnings.
"Don't fret too badly Bell it's better this way, plus it's still a respectable amount.
"Speaking of amount, should we look into hiring an assistant to carry our equipment?" Bell asked.
"Not yet. We should go ahead and purchase a bigger bag, but we shouldn't expect this kind of luck too many times. This is our first day, we should wait awhile. I'd say when we're comfortable adventuring on floor six and lower should we then start thinking of hiring an assistant."
"Alright then, I'll take this to Eina and pay of my equipment with this then. Alright I'll meet you outside, tell Her I said hello."
"Welcome Home you two."
"Hello Athena."
"Goddess Athena."
"You two are home earlier then expected."
"Well we kinda filled our bag you gave us, and you were right goddess Athena! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!" Bell gave his explanation.
"Yes, it was actually quite an interesting experience."
"Did you watch each other's backs?"
"Yes, but we really didn't need to do that." Bell said as he began munching on some biscuits Athena had sat down for them too eat.
"Riveria is quite skilled with that sword of hers I'd say she could pass off as a skilled swordsman."
"Yes we'll, I suppose not everything was too bad back Home for me Bell."
"Well regardless I'm glad that you too have had a successful trip."
"Ahh that reminds me goddess Athena, look what we made!" Bell said excitedly placing the bags of vallis on the table.
"My, that surprising."
"Yes, we were told by the guild that we were very lucky."
"Have you thought about hiring an assistant?"
"Bell actually brought that up back in the Dungeon. But like everyone says, we were just lucky, I doubt we'll have success like that every time so I think it'd be best if we reached floor 5-6 and felt comfortable with venturing on them before we decided on hiring one."
"That's a good decision, in the mean time, let's go."
"Where are we going goddess Athena?" Bell asked starting to follow her.
"This is the first time you two went into the dungeon! This calls that I celebrate my heroes Victorious return with a celebratory feast." Athena said, look straight in front of her, head held high. Her right fist up as if in victory, and if Bell could have seen her face, he'd swear there were stars or some kind of glee in her eyes.
"That's not necessary, goddess." Riveria said still seated at the kitchen counter.
"Non Sense! Now come along Riveria."
"So where are we going?"
"We're going to go visit your girlfriend Bell."
"W-WHAT?"
Was Riveria's thought monologue about her life and Aina too much or too early? I kinda have some doubts about what I wrote there
And so after a long wait you get this crap. *Dogeza deeply*
I find it sadthatI just can't get the drive too write much. I haveno excuses but that.
So first things first my way of writing is 90% free writing, 9% future planing and 1% going back to previous chapters to make sure I stay on track.
Riveria will be OOC somewhat (naturally), as Athena and Bell will influence her character. Especially since she has little interaction with gods and humans and the other races.
I also plan to add one or two OC' to this story as well. You'll see.
And with Riveria not in Loki, does that mean Lefiya is the top mage? Is she even in Loki Familia? Yes, I have plans for Lefiya in this story I think I'll have her make her appearance in the next two or three chapters.
Also my greatest weakness is writing fighting scenes I know I kind of toated a little bit with the dungeon but next time they enter I'll write it out. I need to get some confidence in writing action.
As for why did I make Riveria skilled with a sword. First off, there's a reason. A certain... skill... she can use. Most of you probably know why I went with her using a sword. So if you do, write down the famous line in the review section.
And the second and actual reason. When I thought about it, wouldn't it make more sense for her to have some kind of self defense training? She's a master wizard, but surely she can protect herself if enemies get close to her right?
Anyway, Enjoy the chapter. I'm not dead hurray!
