Chapter seven:
"Y-Y-You see... This was b-before you were b-born. There was a g-g-good friend of ours. H-His name was..." Error pauses as if trying to control his emotions as he remembers what happened. "Ink."
Inky blinks in surprise at hearing a name that is similar to his own. He stays quiet as Error continues.
"H-He hid h-how he was feeling. P-Probably thinking i-it was for the b-b-best." Error pauses once more so he doesn't stutter, and Inky feels his soul hurt at seeing tears in his fathers eyes. "H-He did this until it d-d-destroyed him. I-In the end he k-killed himself." His head drops at getting to this part. He is quickly embraced by his mate and their son. He takes a stuttering breath before trying to continue the story. "Me and B-Blue found him. W-We tried to help. Blue t-tried to h-heal him but couldn't. S-S-So we took h-him to the hospital. H-However he n-never woke up. He d-died from what h-he did to himself." He pauses as he hears some sobbing. He realizes that it is coming from Inky.
"I'm sorry." Inky sobs and Error wraps an arm around him worried. He tries to keep his emotions from getting too high knowing that he needs to reassure his father. "I didn't know you lost a close friend in such a way." He continues on before either of his parents can say anything. "It is why you're so hesitant to let me date? Because you fear what might happen?"
Error nods then is more tightly hugged by Inky.
"I promise you dad. Even if things go wrong I won't let that happen again." Inky promises causing Error to find his cheeks wet, this time in happiness.
"T-Thank you." Error thanks his son. "I should h-h-have trusted you in t-the first place."
"It's okay." Inky assures him. "I forgive you."
Blue can't help smiling watching the two. He knew in his heart things would work out and they certainly did.
Later...
Inky is laying on his bed to chill when his phone buzzes. He checks it to find a text from Lunar. He smiles and opens it. He feels happiness in his soul, seeing that their parents have arraigned to come over tomorrow. He has a feeling that Lunar asked for this.
To try to convince their parents to let them to possibly be together if they both choose it.
Inky has no doubts that he Would love to have Lunar as his girlfriend.
If she'll have him.
Inky holds his phone close truly hoping that Lunar feels the same way. He supposes he'll learn tomorrow. He hopes that he'll have the confidence to ask her out to be his girlfriend. He also hopes that something doesn't end up going wrong.
...
"I'm so glad we decided to do this." Killer admits smiling as the two couples sit in the kitchen.
Lunar and Inky are in the living room playing a video game together.
"Me too." Blue agrees also smiling widely with his arms on the table. "It's always nice to have friends over." He means it as he really does enjoy having friends over to visit.
"Do you mind if I ask you something?" Nightmare brings up causing the other three turn to him. His gaze is mainly resting on Error.
"S-Sure." Error agrees rather curious about what Nightmare is curious about. He watches the other as their eyes lock. He can see that the other is actually pretty calm.
"What are your opinion on Inky dating? I mean after considering everything that has gone down." Nightmare brings up keeping his gaze on Error who tries to not flinch. He knows that it is from the memories of what he and Blue had stumbled across so long ago.
Blue puts a hand on his mates shoulder as the other takes a breath.
"W-Well. I was a-against it at f-first. However I-I had a talk w-with Inky about w-w-what happened. He u-understood and convinced m-me that even if t-things don't turn o-out it'll be okay." Error admits to Nightmare in which the other skeleton nods. "I-I guess that t-they have a w-way to show that t-they are probably r-r-ready."
"I see. Well I suppose it does make sense." Nightmare agrees to that. "At least I'm not the only one who hasn't been the biggest fan of their child dating." He adds a little quietly though Blue and Error barely caught it.
Neither of them bring it up instead deciding to change the topic.
In the living room Inky let's Lunar win another round causing her to slightly cheer. He looks to her with a rather fond smile on his face.
Lunar turns to look to him with a smile also on her face.
Suddenly feeling a bit nervous Inky takes a breath then puts the controller down causing Lunar to blink at him curiously.
"Inky? Is everything alright?" Lunar questions watching her closest friend who she has been admiring for quite awhile now.
"Lunar. I actually really want to ask you something." Inky admits raising a hand to rub the back of his skull. He finds his cheekbones heating up in a blue magic that can remind others of his mother Blue's magic. He gently gets Lunar to put the controller down before tenderly bringing her hands up to hover between them. He has her hands held cupped between his own hands. His blush darkening a little at seeing Lunar blush some red magic like her mother Killer's magic. "Lunar. My dear Lunar. We have been friends for quite a long time. However if you will have me then I would like to start a relationship with you."
Lunar blushes harder as she stares at Inky even more surprised at this. She manages to find her voice before Inky pulls away worried that he had upset her. "Yes." She confirms to the other as his eyes widen. "Yes. I will be your girlfriend."
Inky's surprise turns to a slight crash from the overwhelming happiness, since it takes a lot for him to crash like his father Error. His eyes glowing blue like a device will in the blue screen of death so to speak. He blinks back to reality a few moments later seeing Lunar waiting patiently. He grins really wide then hugs his now girlfriend who returns the hug.
"Well I suppose we came in at the right time." Blue's voice makes the two pull away then turn to where the direction to the entrance of the kitchen is. He is standing there with Error, Nightmare and Killer all looking at the new couple who blush a bit in embarrassment over this.
"My baby girl is growing up!" Killer heads over and hugs Lunar who returns the hug to her mother.
Blue also heads over to Inky giving him congratulations on landing the girl he likes.
Nightmare slightly glances to Error who is watching the two teens with their own mothers. He turns to look back to the four skeletons as well. "Well… I guess we'll be seeing more of each other."
"I s-s-suppose so." Error agrees then turns to Nightmare who slightly tenses.
"My little princess isn't so little anymore." Nightmare didn't mean to say that loud enough for the others to hear.
"Oh dad." Lunar comments and the others give a soft chuckle over it.
No one able to see a spirit standing in the room as well. The spirit finds a smile come across his face at watching all of them be happy. He turns to look to his scarf knowing that he is still Ink even if he is a spirit now. He turns back to the others still smiling. He has felt better to know that he did mean a lot to Error. More than he thought. He closes his eyes letting himself disappear truly feeling like he can let himself go into peace, he doesn't need to watch over Inky, Error, and Blue anymore. He'll be waiting for them in heaven when it is their turn to pass on, No matter if it takes several years before that happens.
