"She's getting paranoid," Anna said, frustrated. She and Kristoff were sitting in the castle garden, and of course a guard was watching them not far away. Anna was trying to avoid Elsa, so they don't start a fight, she loves her sister, but that went too far.

"We look like prisoners, we can't have any privacy together," she continued.

"I hope it doesn't last long," Kristoff said quietly because of the guard next to them. They could not even kiss because they were uncomfortable with the unwanted presence.

"We need to do something about it," the princess whispered. "Do you have any idea?"

He thought for a while, in fact he didn't know what to do to have a moment alone with his beloved.

"Don't worry, I'll think of something today." He replied in the same tone of voice.

Anna leaned her head on his shoulder, Kristoff ran his hand through her hair and gave her a kiss on the head. What they have to do to have an intimate moment between the two? Was that too much to ask? They stayed like that for a long time without saying anything, maybe that would tire the guard who was watching them, but unfortunately for both of them the guard was faithful to his post.

"Everything will be fine Anna, don't worry." He whispered to her.

Letters and more letters, a mountain of documents to sign, endless meetings. That was all Elsa had to do today, but she was still thinking about her sister. This was giving the queen a headache, she decided to leave the office a little to look for Anna since she had only seen the princess when she handed the medal of honor to Haaken, and that was in the morning.

When she closed the door and went into the hall, she heard a voice from behind.

"Are you all right, Your Majesty?" Haaken asked. She really looked tired.

"I'm fine, thank you," she said, turning to Haaken. "Have you seen Princess Anna?" Elsa asked.

"I saw her in the garden with Kristoff," he replied.

Elsa looked a little sad.

"It looks like she's avoiding me," she said.

Haaken looked into the queen's eyes, he needed to get close to her.

"Give her a little space, it all happened so fast, I bet tomorrow she'll be talking to you again." Haaken said.

Who was he to say what the queen should do or not, he has no right to interfere in her personal life... but maybe he is right. Poor Anna, it must not have been easy for her, but she will see that everything the queen does is the best for her, perhaps they will still laugh at it all in the future.

"You're right, maybe I'll give her a little time," Elsa replied.

"You look a little tired, you need to take a break sometimes from the duties of the queen.

Okay now he's gone too far, how dare he. She looked a little uncomfortable at him, but Haaken noticed her discomfort.

"I mean, everyone deserves a rest, no one is made of steel after all." He tried to fix the mistake.

She now seemed to have accepted this, no one can work 24 hours a day.

"You're right, again. I'm going to walk around town for a while." she said.

"If it is no hassle I would like to go with you ... I mean if you like a little company of course." Haaken said a little hesitantly

Elsa smiled at that.

"Sure, you can come with me."

They headed towards the city. The walk was good to relieve some stress, at first they didn't talk to each other, it was a little embarrassing, but someone had to break the ice.

"So ... do you have a family, Haaken?" Elsa started.

That was a question that he didn't feel very well answering.

"I already did, actually I haven't had one for a long time," he replied.

"What happened?" She was curious.

"Let's say my father kind of kicked me out."

She looked at him in amazement, what kind of father would do that?

"Didn't he love you?"

"He loved me, but after what happened to my sister he decided not to love me anymore." he replied.

Seeing that she was curious he decided to tell the sad story of his family.

"It was me, my sister and my father, we lived together, we were happy. One day my sister and I were playing in the forest, we were children we lost track of time" he continued and changed his expression from sad to sad "Soon it was dark , and we need to go home. On the way there were some wolves, we ran, I was ahead ... I should have let her run ahead, I didn't see that she fell, I was so desperate, I was a coward. " he declared. "After that my father was angry with me for leaving her there, for not protecting her." he ended with tears filling his eyes.

"I'm sorry," Elsa said.

"It's okay, it's been a long time."

They continued to walk, but no one else said anything after that, and they were soon at the castle.

"Thanks for the company, Haaken, it was great to walk with you."

"It was a pleasure, Your Majesty," he said.

"Elsa, call me Elsa," she said.

He looked into her eyes with a smile.

"Elsa. See you then." Haaken said goodbye.

❄️

It was already dark. Kristoff promised Anna that he would find a way for them to meet without anyone to watch over them.

He was in the tavern thinking but no ideas came.

"A beer please."said a voice sitting next to him.

"Kristoff?" It was Haaken.

"Oh, hi Haaken." Kristoff replied a little tiredly.

"What's up? You don't look very well." The soldier said.

"It's just that I want a moment alone with Anna, but we can't go out alone," the blonde said.

"If you want any help."

"Will you help us?"

"You helped me when I got here, time to it give back."

Kristoff was going to say that he already helped saving Anna in the forest, but he really needed help now.

"Do you have any idea?"

Haaken thought for a while before answering

"You could meet at night, when everyone is asleep, I can help by covering up the two of you."

Kristoff thought about it, it seemed a little risky, but it was the only way to see Anna alone.

"All right. Deal." He said "How can I thank you?"

"How about paying me for the beer?" Haaken replied.

Kristoff smiled at his friend before agreeing. He would pay as many beers as he could just to have time with Anna.
