Chapter 7
Leaning against the desk, her arms crossed, Kuni and Professor Goodwitch waited for Ozpin's arrival. Hearing the elevator ding, the doors parted as Ozpin stepped into his office.
"Glynda." Ozpin greeted her. "What is it?"
Goodwitch looked to Kuni, who had her mask off.
"Go ahead, Ms. Yuuki."
Kuni removed her hood, shaking her head to free the rest of her hair as she looked to Ozpin.
"This file-" Kuni gestured to the holo computer. "-is it true?"
Ozpin glanced at the computer before looking Kuni dead in the eyes.
"It is."
"So, Salem, her immortality, these 'relics' all of that's true?" Kuni asked.
"Yes."
"Even the Brothers?"
"They are." Ozpin confirmed.
Kuni's eyes glistened with a sort of realization.
"Glynda tells me you broke in." Ozpin said, changing the subject. "I would like to know why."
Kuni took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
"I was given a job." Kuni answered. "As for the employer: I do not know their identity."
"What was the job?" Glynda narrowed her eyes at Kuni.
"I was to extract info from your console with this scroll." She held up the device. "It has already copied everything, as well as given me access to your encrypted files, hence how I read about Salem. Afterwards, I'm supposed to hand this over to my employer, and kill you: Professor Ozpin."
Glynda gripped her riding crop while Ozpin seemed indifferent.
"But that changed as soon as I read about Salem." Kuni continued, picking up her mask and placing it on her face. "If this woman is truly immortal, and seeking to destroy all life as we know it, I can't exactly sit idly by. I know you're immortal as well, Ozpin, but-"
"Immortal isn't exactly correct." Ozpin cut in. "Yes, I have lived longer than most, but I have also died more than most."
Kuni cocked her head as her brow furrowed.
"Huh?"
"Let me explain." Ozpin continued. "Salem cannot be killed, this is true. However, technically, I can. Once that happens, I am reincarnated into a like-minded soul. There, my soul, and the other soul, slowly merge into the same being."
"That sounds... kinda messed up."
Ozpin nodded, agreeing with Kuni.
"I cannot rest until I successfully unite all of Remnant and gather the four Relics."
"Sounds impossible." Kuni crossed her arms. "There'll always be war. Either with the humans, the faunus, or both."
Ozpin sighed.
With the room falling silent, Kuni took a deep breath.
"Alright. I made up my mind."
Goodwitch and Ozpin looked to Kuni.
"Before I say anymore, though, I want your promise: tell me everything relating to your goal. I want to know who your allies are, who else knows, what else there is to know, and everything in between."
Ozpin and Glynda looked at one another, silently contemplating Kuni's offer.
"I want to help you, Ozpin. But I don't want any stone left unturned. Agreed?"
Ozpin looked at Kuni, staring into her eyes through the mask.
"Agreed." Ozpin nodded.
Kuni smiled as she held the scroll out in front of her.
"Alright."
Breaking it in half, Kuni let the pieces fall to the floor.
A few minutes later
With Kuni returning to her dorm to inform the others of the change of plans, Ozpin and Glynda had a moment to speak.
"That girl is certainly something." Glynda said softly.
"Mm."
"You don't agree?" Glynda asked.
"No, I was just lost in thought." Ozpin replied as he spun in his chair to face away from Glynda.
"Kuni Yuuki." Ozpin thought to himself. "I wonder..."
