Chapter 7

Rosé

Lego.

That kid was something interesting, that's what Chairman Rose thought, and that's why he couldn't get him off of his mind. While it was true that Pokémon could be capable of much more, no one ever tried anything like what Lego did against Bede in that exhibition match.

'The adaption to the sudden evolution of his Scorbunny was interesting as well,' Rose thought as he walked out of the field and into a side room where only League Officials can enter. 'Not to mention he has so many powers… could he be… no… no. It can't be. He's just some lucky kid.' Rose shook his head. "Yeah, he's just some lucky kid."

"Ah, Chairman Rose!" Came the voice of the unbeatable champion of Galar, Leon. "I was looking for you!"

Rose snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the popular champion. "Ah, Leon. What do you need?"

"I'm just here to say I'm quite excited for this year's Gym Challenge!" The champion said with his signature smile on his face. "And I honestly am looking forward to the finals more than past years!"

Rose raised an eyebrow. What made this year so special? "And why is that?" Rose asked.

"Lego is changing things up!" Leon answered. "That kid is special, and I just sense it! I even endorsed him, and I guess this has affected him better than I could've hoped!"

"Really? You endorsed him?" Rose was surprised. It's not everyday you hear that the champion had endorsed someone into the Gym Challenge.

"Yeah! He used to be this very standoffish kid, but he's already traveling with 3 Pokémon, and also apparently my brother Hop and a trainer known as Gloria!" Leon said. "Sure, he's clearly been attacked by whatever those monster things were in the Wild Area. But he's been able to handle them by himself."

Rose's jaw dropped, surprised by what he heard. He immediately fixed himself. "Then that shows that he is a powerful and skilled teen. Maybe he would do well in the Martial Arts Tournament over in Stow-n-Stow (1)."

"Maybe he would," Leon said before he stopped. "Wait, they're still hosting it?"

"They plan to, but the people in charge of it are trying to think about how to account for the super powered individuals in the region, but I'm sure they'll figure it out," Rose answered.

"Well, that should be interesting," Leon said. "I'm gonna go see my brother and Lego before they leave town to go to Milo's Gym. Wanna come with me Chairman Rose?"

"Sure," Rose said. "Only because you would get lost, which is the truth."

"Touché," Leon replied before they left for the lobby.

Lego had been given a lot of stares when he was changing from his Gym Uniform into a more casual outfit, which consisted of a short-sleeve black shirt, with dark blue jeans (2). He had looked behind him and saw that people were giving him a bunch of stares, but they turned away as soon as he looked at them.

"Pussys," he said when he left earshot, and was immediately joined by Cinder, Bork, and Cream. "So, did you all enjoy that much?"

"It was fun to watch!" Bork answered with his usual carefree attitude. "I really wanted to fight!"

"I agree... The watching part, I mean," Cream said. "It was kinda funny how that Bede kid was fuming after you basically one-shot all of his Pokémon."

Cinder was silent as she walked beside Lego, her hands in her new pockets that came with her evolution (which gave her an extra layer of fur that basically happened to be a red sweatshirt, not that she didn't mind). Cinder was just trying to understand her evolution a bit since she just evolved on a whim. Was it already that time for her to evolve?

"Hey, you still in there?" Lego asked Cinder, who looked up at him.

"Yeah… just still feels a bit weird since I evolved so… randomly," she replied.

"I get what you mean," Lego said. "When I went through puberty, I had this insane urge to hit something. Most other boys were doing… boy things, but I just felt more aggravated than normal. I also wanted to punch a lot of things."

"What the honest fuck kind of puberty did you go through?" Cream asked, very concerned.

"One that definitely isn't human," he answered.

They were silent before they entered the main lobby of Motostoke Stadium. Lego was slightly hoping he would be able to get to the hotel to see if Proto was doing alright, but he immediately spotted Leon, and Rose with him. He immediately knew that Leon and Rose were gonna come up to him and talk to him.

And come up to him they did.

"Hey Lego! Good job out there!" Leon said when he and Rose walked up.

"...yeah, thanks," Lego simply said, before trying to walk away.

"You're a really amazing kid, I can tell that much from the small bit of information that I have on you," Rose suddenly said which made Lego stop walking. He was already suspicious of Rose now, but then Rose continued talking, "Tell me, have you ever thought about when you decide to retire from Pokémon Battling?"

Lego turned around and faced Rose. "I have. And I ain't telling anyone." He turned back around. "Now go fuck yourself if you think I'll work for you. Because I work by myself, Rosé. And I won't work for anyone."

After Lego left, Rose and Leon were left to contemplate what Lego said. "That's… a very interesting instant line of thought…" Rose said.

"Did he call you Rosé (3)?" Leon asked, while Rose simply shrugged in uncertainty.

Lego walked to the Budew Inn and immediately went to Proto's room, and he knocked on the door. Proto came to the door and opened, and sighed when he let Lego in.

"It's kinda cramped in here," Proto said, sitting on the bed, with Lego noting that it was way too small for Proto. "Are we going soon?"

"Not until Gloria and Hop get out of the Stadium," Lego said.

Proto was silent as he looked out the window in his room. "...they're rubbing off on you."

"I'm sorry, what?" Lego questioned.

"I have been told a few things about you when you were younger from Hop. He said you would normally just leave everyone alone, and just be by yourself," Proto explained. "Sometimes they wouldn't see you in days, and it's been like that since you entered the Slumbering Weald." Lego didn't bother saying anything against that. "You've been enjoying their company… haven't you?"

"...they know too much to be left alone," Lego simply replied. "If they left… they'd die, just like all of those professors… something I won't let happen (4)." He clenched his fists, the urge to punch something coming into effect. Before he could probably punch Proto, who was the only thing he could punch and not break, the door had a knock on it.

Lego growled, before heading to the door and peeking out the door by cracking it. "Who's there?" He questioned, before seeing it was Hop and Gloria.

"Don't worry, it's us," Gloria confirmed. Slowly opening the door, Lego let the two into the room, and sighed.

"Good. That last thing I want is more people finding out about Proto," Lego said, still on edge. "What took you two so long?"

"We ended up meeting Lee when he was in the lobby with Chairman Rose!" Hop replied. "He wanted to congratulate you for your match, even if it wasn't anything official or whatever! But you did make quite a show. He said he really wanted to jump in and call out his Charizard."

"He would decimate me and that other guy instantly, unless we both ganged up and used clever tactics and beat him, which the chances are slim to none," Lego bluntly replied. "That, or Cinder using his Pokémon as a meat shield."

"Why does that sound oddly pleasing (5)?" Cinder asked, making Cream flinch and slightly back away from where Cinder stood, Cinder's back leaning against the wall.

"Anywho! After you… well… ditched us, Lee also got onto my case about traveling with you and Gloria," Hop continued. "He honestly thought I somehow got to you, with a few smart-ass Gym Challengers making comments about you being gay, which I do not see you ever being, or you ever getting a girl…" Hop kinda stopped there. "Um… no offense."

Lego simply looked away, Hop and Gloria noticing what looked like a sense of longing in his gaze as he stared off into space. He snapped out of it and looked back at Hop. "Continue."

"Right. So Lee then started teasing me since… well, me and Gloria are the same age and he was teasing me of probably liking her… then a few more teases about dating came along before we decided to run." Gloria and Hop were faintly blushing. "I kinda forgot how Lee kinda… teased me, whenever I hung out with a girl."

"Well this is a first," Lego commented. He grabbed his bag. "Alright, we're leaving. I want to get out of this town, and I don't want to come back and deal with the same shit we dealt with getting to this town just for something we forgot. Alright?"

"Why are we leaving already?" Gloria asked.

"Because unless most of the challengers, if we went early to take on Milo, we'll get a head start on everybody else, and we can go get ahead of some of the people and not deal with the drama that comes with some of the more petty and stupid Gym Challengers," Lego explained. "That, and some of the adults participating in this year's Gym Challenge are probably the drama types (6)."

Not seeing any holes in his sound reasoning, Hop and Gloria nodded. "I suppose that makes sense," Hop said. He grabbed his bag. "The quickest way to get to Milo's Gym is to head through the Galar Mine," Hop informed them all as Gloria grabbed her bag.

"I don't like the idea of going through a space that could conceal our deaths, but it also sounds like a good way to hide Proto since he is wanted by the Bio Fail pieces of shit," Lego said, agreeing in his own way. "Alright, going through a mine it is." They then slowly one by one exited the inn, before heading towards Route 3 just for the sake of getting out of town.

The route was surprisingly empty, only a few Pokémon being seen here and there, but still Pokémon nonetheless. Lego smiled, before he looked across a hill and noticed some smoke. He raised an eyebrow before they turned a corner on the path and saw a rather large building in the background, a truck have it's contents emptied out by a group of Machamp.

"Looks like they're unloading something," Gloria commented.

"Yeah…" Lego agreed. "I wonder what it is." He secretly tried to sense what was in there but didn't get much but a bunch of energetic strong energies; the energies of fighting types. "Let's go." He then continued down the path, until it eventually got dark.

They had set up and camp, Gloria and Hop deciding to make dinner. Since they were going to do that, Lego decided it would be the perfect time to work out.

And to test out his new punching bag.

"Alright Proto, it's time," Lego said, before Proto stood up.

"Huh, he actually was gonna use Proto as a punching bag," Cinder commented.

"I wonder if he'll do anything to Proto," Cream wondered aloud.

Over the course of a few minutes, Lego had been punching Proto so many times, and so quickly, that he should've done something. Proto just stood there, and Lego just kept attacking, with absolutely nothing happening to Proto, who hadn't even wince from Lego's attacks.

Everyone just watched them, mildly surprise Lego wasn't doing anything to Proto.

"Is… is this for real?" Gloria asked as she watched, stirring the curry slowly so she would be able to watch.

"I… think it is," Hop answered, also surprised Lego did nothing to Proto, despite murdering those Bio Failed things with relative ease. "Proto is definitely in a complete different level than him."

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Lego yelled as he continued dealing a barrage of punches at Proto, all of which packed quite a lot of force, that did nothing to Proto though despite the fact that eight punches could break a tree in half (7). Lego stopped after a moment, and smirked. "You really are the perfect punching bag!"

"Um… thanks?" Proto said, confused if that was something he should be proud of or not.

As Lego continued to use Proto as a punching bag, he reeled back his arm, before punching Proto in the chest and suddenly Lego stopped in his tracks as he became blinded by something.

Before he knew it, he was on the ground and he was shaking. What happened? Everyone was standing over him, and everyone was confused and scared. Lego sat up, dazed.

"What… happened?" Lego asked, holding his head which was throbbing.

"You just suddenly collasped on the ground, and you looked like you were dead," Hop said. "Did you… Did you die?"

"What the hell kind of question is that?!" Lego questioned while shouting. "I didn't die…" He stood up. "But… I don't know what happened…" While that was the truth, he had a faint idea, but he didn't want it to be true.

"Well, no more training for you tonight, or tomorrow," Gloria said. "We don't want that to happen again."

"You can't tell me what to do!" Lego retorted.

"Well I can," Proto said, adding in his two cents, which did shut Lego up, though he simply growled in response.

Afterwards, the team ate dinner, and they all went to bed, though they had to knock Lego out since he was being too stubborn and said he was gonna take first watch, though they decided no one was gonna take watch. The night was quiet, but they were on edge by morning, as they approached the mine.

"So, this is the mine we're gonna have to cross in order to get to the first gym?" Lego asked Hop, trying to confirm the random cave as their destination.

"Yep!" Hop said.

"Well, see ya," Lego said randomly, which confused them before he, Cinder, Bork, and Cream — who was riding on his back because she was a bit slow compared to the rest of them (8) — suddenly broke out into a sprint and they disappeared into the cave.

"Goddamn it! You got to be kidding me!" Hop exclaimed. "Why didn't we expect this?!"

"Cause we figured that he would be listen since Proto is stronger than him," Gloria answered. "Well… let's go."

"Well, since I could be a problem," Proto began, which drew the attention of the remaining two trainers, "I figured now would be the best time to use a ability I have." Suddenly he glowed before he looked like Lego, ripped Gi and all.

"Woah! That's amazing!" Hop said, amazed.

"Yeah, that is," Gloria agreed, kinda surprised.

"We better head in and find Lego," Proto said, reminding the two of their stubborn friend.

"Yeah…" Hop and Gloria said, before the three entered the mine, aware that they were being watched from someone in the trees.

"So…" The voice said, to no one in particular. "That's where you've been… brother…" The bearer smiled before entering the mine after a few minutes, a fierce battle about to begin (9).

(1) This was something I had planned to happen since the very beginning of this story.

(2) What can I say? That is casual wear to me.

(3) I call him Rosé, only cause he rubbed my the wrong way.

(4) Something else that is important… Will be discussed in a later arc.

(5) Cinder still hates Bede to this day.

(6) My mom deals with a lot of people who cause drama a lot. And this just shows that not everyone is "pure" if there was ever such a thing.

(7) He has trained without Abilities, and this is the result. Is this being unrealistic? Yes. Is One Punch Man unrealistic with how Saitama did such a normal training regimen and he got OP? Also yes. And this wasn't a reference.

(8) I actually tested this out by having an Alcremie come to me in the Poké Camp in Pokémon Sword, and this is the realistic speed of Alcremie.

(9) Another thing planned. Man, so many things are happening!
