Mount Justice

February 19th, 16:22 EST

Cassie stood alone in the middle of the ring. From beneath her feet came the bright lights initiating a new round of sparring. Her opponents approached from both of her sides. Garfield on her left, Jaime on her right.

Pulling her lasso off of her side, she tossed it to Batgirl, who along with Bumblebee, Lagoon Boy, and a few other teammates stood outside of the immediate danger zone. Their eyes intent on the match at hand.

At the edge of the ring, Nightwing shouted, "Go!"

Cassie shifted her stance as the two drifted closer to her, encircling her. Staying light on her feet, she maneuvered herself to face Garfield head on and kept Jaime in her peripheries. Out of the two, Jaime was the one with the greater firepower, but Garfield's ability to shapeshift into any animal plus the kid's unlimited imagination made her weary to turn her back on him.

Her instincts proved her right as the boy's emerald-green skin toughened and expanded. His short stature, clothes, and all his human features were traded in for him gaining another five feet in height along with several thousand pounds and tusks. Within moments, he had transformed into a fully grown African elephant…

That was Garfield, always making a big deal out of himself.

The sound of the great behemoth's trumpeting clued Cassie in to the idea that he was about to attack. She steadied herself, shifting her weight into a powerful stance. All the while keeping Blue somewhere in her line of sight lest he try anything funny while she was dealing with Gar. But much to her unease, he kept his distance, pacing the ring with his eyes locked onto hers.

Suddenly, the ground trembled as Garfield barreled towards her, swinging his trunk around ready to swat her down like an insect. Logic demanded that this deer in headlights needed to move out of his warpath, but that little chaos demon that lived somewhere deep within the recesses of her mind demanded she be the immovable object to combat this unstoppable beast.

Cassie's eyes trekked upwards from the fast moving feet, his enormous ears- the trunk flailing from side to side around the tusks. The large pointy things-pointy things-pointy things ready to hit her!

She grabbed hold of them! Her shoes sliding against the floor, screeching their refusal to concede any more ground. But her grip on the boy wasn't all that good, it could give way at any moment.

That's when she heard the sound of Jaime's cannon charging up. Worse yet, it was coming from directly behind her.

"Hold her still!" Jaime called out to his teammate.

Garfield did as instructed. No matter which direction Cassie tried to jump, Gar moved right along with her.

'Just my luck,' Cassie thought. 'Dumbo keeps me busy long enough for Blue to get me in his crosshairs.'

He didn't have to. She had never held back an animal his size for so long before, the angle she was at wasn't doing her any favors. Her shoes were slipping and she was getting too low to the ground. He could have trampled her if he put all his muscle into it. But no, he decided that he and Jaime would take her down together. On their own, she could take them down in less than a minute. Working together… she hated to admit it, she was breaking a sweat with them. She had to do something!

'So change the angle.'

Cassie kicked up her feet, using Gar's tusks as balancing beams as she swung her legs under herself, straightening them out right as they got close to the elephant's underbelly. She let go of the smooth ivory as she used all her momentum to shoot out between the animal's legs.

Her mind drifted back to the kids who used to lay out on their skateboards and try to roll underneath the parked cars of her neighborhood in DC. Most of them would get stuck as the cars they picked were too low to the ground. She however didn't have that problem with clearing the pachyderm. She flew out from under him, leaving the boy confused as to where his rival disappeared to, giving her the time to fly right behind him.

Utilizing the boy's moment of confusion, Cassie delivered a flying kick into the animal's behind, sending him stumbling towards his partner.

"Wow!" Jaime cried out as he dodged the oncoming creature. As he did, he kept his focus and weapon pointed at Cassie, taking several shots at her. Missing her every time.

As she weaved through the air, dodging each of his blasts, she remembered that she promised Nightwing that she would keep most of her powers to a minimum. She lowered herself down till she was hovering a few inches off the ground. This was supposed to be a hand-to-hand exercise. So much for that.

Although, even with Blue using his powers, he still couldn't hit her. She laughed, "Come on Blue, you're aim can't be that bad!"

"Oh yeah? Well, there's an ostrich behind you!"

She had lost her visual of Beast Boy, so she had to look around to find him. But the only person, better yet, the only people behind her was the peanut gallery.

When she turned her attention back on Jaime, she was set upon by a blur of green feathers. The large wings thrashed her around her head while the bird's beak plucked at her hair. When she gained the good sense to cover her face with her forearms, the focus of his attack switched from her head to her gauntlet covered wrists. But with her eyes closed, she couldn't see what was trying to make her bald.

'Okay, big bird. Sharp beak! Ostrich, emu, cassowary, whatever. Push it off, stay away from the beak.'

Using herself as the battering ram she was born to be, she threw all her weight into the bird's chest, sending it a few feet backwards.

As he tried to save himself from falling over, Cassie was able to see what she was fighting. With the long legs and even longer neck, all with Gar's typical emerald hue, she could confirm that the form Gar had taken was an ostrich.

Once Gar regained his senses, he resumed his charge towards her. Only now that Cassie knew what she was up against. She could prepare herself for the onslaught.

That went out the window the moment he launched himself at her, changing his form in mid-air.

Cassie's eyes widened as she saw the boy's old form lost 6 feet in height, but maintained, nay gained more plumage as well as some wattles and an ear-shattering crow. Not to mention a new level of ferocity as the demon rooster's claws and spurs were making contact with her skin, "Ah!"

Just as she was able to shoo the KFC reject away, her ears received another hit by the boy's piercing cries, along with a blow to her chest courtesy of Blue Beetle's cannon. The blast knocked her back right to the edge of the ring. She was able to stop herself from crossing the line just in time to save herself from losing the match.

Garfield scuttled over to Jaime's side, shifting back into his human appearance. The two idiots then had the audacity to high five each other as Cassie was catching her breath, "A chicken? Really?"

"Rooster," Gar responded.

Jaime laughed, "Took you by surprise, eh?"

Nightwing walked up behind Cassie, interrupting her thoughts on how to kill them both before anyone could stop her, "Do you want me to call this off?"

"No. I'm finishing this."

Jaime and Gar split up as Cassie walked back up to them. Jaime to her left, Gar to her right, circling her.

'Okay, one takes me head on while the other waits for an opening,' She thought. 'It worked last time, so they'll do it again.'

Gar hadn't shifted into anything, so it was safe to assume the element of surprise would factor into their plan, 'They could attack at the same time, Gar turns into something fast so I have to react to him first. But then I could throw him out of the ring, or better yet, into Blue.'

Jaime generated one of his cannons again, set to stun to save her from any permanent damage.

'Blue's long range weapons keep him safe from me, if he attacked first, I'd have him down in seconds.'

Cassie whipped her head back towards Gar, who started to gravitate a little closer towards her sphere, 'Gar has to be the one to be the one to charge me. If he's 500 pound over my weight limit he could keep me busy long enough for Blue to take the shot.'

Jaime was closing in too.

'But the bigger the animal, the bigger the chance Blue hits him and not me…'

Garfield's eyes darted between hers and Jaime's.

'Come on, buddy. Go for big. You know you want to. Go for the elephant.'

Jaime shot first.

Cassie was able to dive away from the blast, but had to pop back up in order to shove the cannon away from her and aim her other fist at Jaime.

By now Garfield had transformed back into the elephant, just as Cassie thought. He once more trumpeted out his desire to attack, then came charging after her. She couldn't unload all her might on Jaime as that would kill him, so she had to settle for only pushing back a good 20 feet making him land flat on his butt.

Turning towards Gar who had reached full charging speed, she returned the fervor by running right at him.

Her feet left the floor, running up higher into the air as though she was running up invisible stairs till she was eye-level with the enraged creature. She danced around his trunk and tusks, her eyes fixed on the red and white collar that the boy always donned in both his animal and human form. A gift from Miss Martian. It was about to be his Achilles' heel.

Her fingertips clung to the fabric for dear life as she vaulted herself over the elephant's back. Okay, that part of the plan; check! Now came the part where she had to get him out of the ring…

As she mulled over her options on what to do, she didn't notice that Jaime had risen back onto his feet. His cannon charged, aimed, and ready to fire. The only thing stopping him was Garfield since every time he had a clear shot at Cassie, the boy's head or other extremities got in the way.

"Dude, it'd be great if you stopped moving!"

The creature bellowed out his reply, but nobody was sure what that meant. Jaime shook his head, re-aiming his weapon at Cassie.

Meanwhile, she was still trying to figure out how she could coerce her giant teammate into throwing the match, since there was no way she'd be able to throw him out of the ring. He was simply too big for her. Any scenario that popped into her head hinged on her strength to take him out. She was making no headway in that department and it looked like Jaime had gotten her right in his sights...

'No time.'

Tightening her grip on the creature's neck, she cried out as she leaned backwards, heaving all three tons of him off the ground with her. The speed of which she did so caused the boy's rear end to fly through the air, rushing towards it's fate with the ground.

Half of his body landed on the line marking the end of the training ground. It's solid blue color turned to red as a deep chime rung declaring Beast Boy as out.

Cassie's split second decision was followed up with the brilliant idea to fly away before she could be squashed underneath him. Hovering a good 20 feet in the air allowed her to survey her adversaries. One down, and one to go.

Jaime tried to make the last 10 seconds of the fight be something other than pathetic. He let off two rounds from his cannon before Cassie zoomed down to him and twisted his arm behind his back.

He couldn't generate another weapon with his other arm as he was pressed nose to nose with the blonde wonder, the fingertips of her free hand lined up less than an inch away from his chest plate, "Any last words, Blue?"

With fear in his eyes he whimpered, "Tell my mother I love her."

"Tell her yourself."

Cassie put the smallest amount of effort she could into a push that sent Jaime flying. She had let go of his other arm when she shoved him, causing him to spiral out of control out of the arena.

Garfield had just gotten done with recovering from his injuries and morphing back into his human form when Jaime collided with the poor kid.

The low chime played once more letting everyone in the room know that Wonder Girl was the winner.

A few of those gathered clapped and cheered on Cassie as she walked off the match floor. Nightwing walked right past her, stepping into the ring. Batgirl and Bumblebee met up with her, smiling and giggling as they both high-fived her.

Jaime was able to get himself back off of the ground while also giving a hand to Garfield who was a little worse for wear. That was clear when he complained to his accomplice, the pain thick in his voice, "We were supposed to charge her together after I gave the signal!"

"Dude, you made like six different noises," Jaime huffed. "How was I supposed to know which one meant 'Get her?'"

Nightwing cleared his throat, "Can anyone tell me what they did wrong this time?"

Silence. Cassie eyed the rest of the group, Miss Martian was busy attending to Gar. Bee and Batgirl looked like they had no inclination to speak, they only shot looks at one another hiding the smirks that were peaking out of the corners of their mouths. That left Robin and Lagoon Boy. As if the former would answer. Just thinking about him caused Cassie's beaming smile to shrivel up.

For the past few weeks, he had been dead to the team in all but name. He chose to spend every waking moment he had in Gotham instead of helping out with the team. It had been a boring month overall since there were no leads on the Light's plans or whereabouts. They all had to make do with a number of pointless stakeouts and some scuffles with Intergang.

A webbed hand was raised.

"Yes, Lagoon Boy?"

"They tried teamwork and they still got wrecked?"

That brought out a few chuckles from the class. And it had the added benefit of bringing back Cassie's smile, even if it wasn't as big as it was before.

Nightwing laughed along, "Why don't we start with the good? Blue Beetle, Beast Boy, you two have shown a marked improvement in your teamwork. You didn't rush your opponent, you knew where her weaknesses were, and you worked together to exploit them. Because of that, the both of you got a few good hits in. Well done."

Cassie knew how good it felt to be praised by him, so she couldn't blame Jaime and Gar exchanged a fist bump and a few smiles. Besides, she won the fight, so the best compliments would go to her.

"And Wonder Girl? Excellent work. I didn't know a full grown elephant was in your weight class."

Cassie shrugged, "I didn't either."

"Impressive as that was, we do try to avoid the types of grandstanding that leaves you wide open and vulnerable. If Blue's cannon had gotten to you, you'd have been crushed."

Cassie's smile faded. But she couldn't help but nod along, it was a fair point.

Nightwing looked to the others, "Every fight has a lesson to take away from it. Beetle and Beast Boy learned from previous fights to better coordinate their attacks, and they stood a much better chance in this fight. But they were holding back their punches. The bad guys won't do that."

Judging by the amount of serious faces in the room, everyone was taking their leader's words to heart.

"I think we can call that an end for training, and for the day in general. There is one mission on the books for tonight, so if I call your name, report to the bioship immediately. Miss Martian, Batgirl, Bumblebee, and Wonder Girl."

'Yes!' Cassie's mind screamed. 'First, I beat Blue and Gar, now I get all girls' mission?!'

The memory unpleasantness of Nightwing's words was immediately replaced with Cassie's excitement over the mission.

"For those of you I did not call," he continued, "You're free to take the rest of the night off."

"You don't have to tell me twice," Jaime muttered as he was on his way over to the zeta tubes. "¡Hasta luego!"

Just like that, the whole room adjourned. Lagoon Boy followed Jaime into the tunnel and Bumblebee left for the bioship. Robin started a conversation with Nightwing while Miss Martian helped her little brother limp his way out of the room. With how dramatic the boy was, he needed M'gann's soothing aura to help heal his wounded pride, not his body.

Before they had left, the pair made a detour over to where Cassie stood chatting with Batgirl.

"I'm sorry about the claw marks," Gar said, genuinely apologetic.

"They'll heal," Cassie sighed as she ruffled the younger boy's hair around.

"Ugh! Get off," Gar whined as he squirmed out of her reach. Both Cassie and M'gann cackled as the green kid stormed off to his room. M'gann did pursue him, trying to continue the disheveling of his hair, but Gar sped up his pace swatting away her hands every time she came close.

After a few moments, Cassie's laughter quieted down enough for her to hear her teammate clear her throat, "So, who was the bigger problem? The chicken or the egghead?"

"Usually the egghead, but today, the poultry hurt."

"He's becoming a better fighter. I mean, he's always loved his powers, but now he actually knows how to use them in a brawl."

Cassie hummed in agreement, "Do you think I'm becoming a better fighter?"

She replied without hesitation, "I do."

The two stood staring at each other. When Cassie realized that Batgirl had finished her thought, she gestured for her to go on.

"Um… you're fighting's a lot less rigid than when you first joined the team."

That was a bit of a surprise, "I would never describe myself as rigid."

"That's because you're not," the redhead started, "Not as a civilian. You can be brash sometimes, but you're quick and open-minded to everything outside of a match. But when you're in one, you become too serious."

Cassie did a double take, "Wha- serious? Rigid? Are we talking about me? Cause you're talking about someone completely different."

"That might not have been the right word, but hear me out," Batgirl's hand took hold of Cassie's shoulder, "You understand that all this isn't a game. Which is great because it isn't. Since you know that, you don't want to make any mistakes that would cost you big time. So you stick with the forms Diana showed without making any changes to them."

"They're 2,000 year old forms, and they still work!"

At that moment, Cassie felt both Nightwing and Robin's eyes fall on her. It was only then she realized just how loud she was being. Her teammate's comments were making her insecure, now her megaphone of a voice was just adding on to the uncomfortable situation.

After a few moments, the two went back to the holographic screens they had pulled up. Cassie caught a glimpse of a few maps with dots all over it, but she didn't care to look into it.

When she was sure no one was paying them any mind, Batgirl continued, this time in a hushed tone, "Cass, you can't rely only on technique. When you're up against someone who doesn't fight in a way you're familiar with, you have to use your intuition to figure out how to beat them, which is exactly what I saw you doing today."

Cassie's eyes turned downward then darted right back up to look at her friend, "Yeah?"

She wished her voice didn't sound so shaky, and that her fingers would stop fiddling with the hem of her uniform.

"Yes. Cass, I've known you for almost a year. In that time, you've fought countless bad guys, got unlimited powers from a god, and got a crash course in fighting with a group of immortal warriors. You've learned in a few months what most people need years to master. So take into account that there are still some things that you can improve on. Okay?"

'Why does she always have to be right?' Despite her uneasiness with the comment, Cassie nodded.

"Good," Babs said as she hooked her arm around Cassie's and led them towards the hanger.

"So," said Cassie. "Intuition before intellect?"

The older girl hesitated, "It's more finding a balance between the two."

"Since I don't have either of those, I guess they cancel each other out."

"I guess so."

The two shared a side-eye glance before they burst into another laughing fit. Cassie tugged her friend's arm a little tighter as they exited the cave's main floor. Leaving behind Nightwing, who was too engrossed in his mission notes to notice the pair's departure, and beside him, an almost as interested Robin who's head kept making small turns to look in the direction where the girls went.

Mount Justice

February 20th, 3:44 EST

Successful mission. Nightwing's praise for what they did that night worked as a balm for a moment, but the sting of failure returned to gnaw on Cassie's mind as she trudged back to her room. It would have been nice for her to crawl into her bed back in DC, but the long flight to and from Bialya plus the workout she got against Devastation and Mammoth then topped off with her trying single handedly to save a 20 ton cargo plane, made her more than willing to hit the showers then go comatose for the next few hours at the cave.

She rounded the last corner before her room when she all but smacked into Robin, "Sorry!"

The two both jumped away from one another as Robin stuttered, "No, I'm sorry… I-uh..."

While Cassie waited for him to either finish his apology or to say something else, she quickly scanned him up and down. She knew that out of the two, she was the only one who had a recent escapade which made her look rather disheveled, with frizzy hair and a dirty uniform, but the kid standing in front of her was the pinnacle of pristine.

His black, not full cropped hair was perfect. His mask and the rest of his black and red uniform had not a wrinkle or blemish upon it. With how early it was, he either (a) took a power nap, shower, and made it back to the cave in the time that she and the girls' squad were gone or (b) never went to bed and just looked that good at 3 in the morning. Neither option would have surprised her. The real question was which one infuriated her less as she was dying from exhaustion.

Her eyes flitted to the door that stood inches behind his left shoulder. The fatigue that she had been keeping at bay was clawing away at her, demanding her to push past the taller boy and slam the door in his face. Shame that the doors at the cave didn't slam.

"How'd the mission go?"

'How'd it go?' He ignored her for nearly a month, and he chose 3 am after a long mission to break his silence?

"Oh, you know. We show up. We act covert. Something goes wrong, chaos ensues."

He nodded along, "So, nothing new?"

"Nope."

His masked gaze cast itself downward, "I heard Nightwing say you saved a plane full of abductees. That's got to feel pretty good."

"Did you hear we don't know why they were abducted?" She snapped.

"Uh, no. I-"

"If you want to know what happened, go ask Nightwing. Or Batgirl. Better yet, you can read the mission notes when they're done."

His attention shifted up to her face, "Can't I ask you?"

She paused, "I'm tired. I wanna go home."

Her eyes shifted away from his face and back to her room. She couldn't help but notice that his head moved in time with her to look upon the door.

Turning back to face her, he kept his head and voice down as he whispered, "I'm sorry."

He took a step to the side, giving her a clear path away from him. She didn't waste her chance and strode into her room while he made himself scarce.

When she was in the doorway, it felt like she hit a brick wall. It wasn't the exhaustion, as that took a back seat in the presence of the new sensation that had taken ahold of her. She looked to one of her hands which had latched itself onto the doorframe. Just above them, she caught sight of Robin slipping down the hallway, his cape billowing out behind him. The terrible throbbing of her mind migrated to her gut, sending waves of discomfort that pulsed in tempo with each one of his footfalls. Cassie had experience with this sensation before, but it had never been this acute before.

'Note to self; attacks of the conscience are worse when sleep-deprived.'

She knew she wouldn't get a wink of sleep if she let him leave, "Robin, wait!"

He did, thankfully. Cassie was able to sprint over to him before he had fully turned back around and face her.

When Cassie tilted her neck to look him eye to mask lense, any semblance of a plan on what to say to him fizzled and died. Her facial expression must have conveyed that as Robin's brow furrowed, "If you don't want to talk, we can wait till morning."

"No, um," she muttered. He wanted to know what happened on the mission and she was able to tell him, but she froze on exactly what to say. Should she give him every last detail, or would he just want the basic facts?

Her mouth decided for her, "We were sent to Bialya. We were on an all girls mission."

The lines on Robin's forehead dissipated along with a sliver of his serious demeanor as he let the small amount of information sink in. He calmly said, "Okay."

She continued, "So there we were, the four of us hiding behind a dune in front of the warehouse…"

"Hm."

The small sound of confusion that slipped out of Robin was miniscule compared to what Cassie was both feeling and thinking. She didn't know what time it was, but she knew it had been more than an hour since she first started talking. Now, she didn't expect to go off on such a tangent, but her nearly mute teammate made no effort to stop her story as she tried to make sense of it herself. He took in every twist of the plot with the same blanket stare, working as the ideal soundboard for her to bounce off of when she recalled some minute detail or made a comment about the ordeal. By the time she was done, she had given him plenty to think on.

"And the teens didn't hear a name? Or see any faces? They knew nothing about their captors?"

"Nothing. No clues, no traces, no leads. Nothing to go off of."

"It can't be that bad," his arms folded together as he brought his gloved hand to cover his mouth. His brows furrowed again in thought, "It sounds like the whole operation has been running for some time if they've gotten it down so smoothly."

"Which means we don't know how long it's been going on or how many kids they've taken."

A gloved hand rested on the edge of her bare shoulder, "We'll find them." He really thought he could get away with just a few words to reassure her. And much to her annoyance, it worked.

"Are you sure?"

"We always do," he replied. "It's late, I think you should go home."

Cassie only then remembered how tired she had been. Once she did, her body's systems immediately reflected that. Every part of her felt 2 times slower and 20 pounds heavier. If that weren't enough, when she tried to answer him, she first had to give a giant yawn that lasted for at least a minute, "Sounds like a plan."

Robin nodded one last time as his hand slid away from her and returned to his side. When it did, she felt a cool rush of the cave's recycled air seep into her skin. It had been there long enough for Cassie to realize that even though it belonged to the sometimes cold protégé of Batman; it was warm.

"Good night, Cass."

Cassie had all but a second to regain some of her composure and stammer out, "Eh-uh good, good night!"

Before he had disappeared around the corner, she caught him sporting a lop-sided grin just barely visible to the human eye.

Then she was alone and free. Free to realize that she had just talked with him for Hades knows how long.

How was he able to do that? She had been mad at him for weeks, and she intended to stay that way for even longer but the second he showed her the smallest amount of attention, all that rage evaporated. Now she was having trouble even remembering what happened that made her angry with him.

Her fatigue got the best of her as she leaned her forehead on her room's door frame. She shut her eyes, concentrating, trying to connect the dots on where her problem with the brat wonder started, 'Okay, he ignored me. He ignored my questions, he was cold, he was rude. And we're supposed to be friends. Friends don't do that to each other!'

That line of thinking brought her blood to a boiling point, as she found herself muttering, "He's a jerk. He's a jerk. He's a jerk."

"Who is?

She recognized her teammate's voice, so she didn't open her eyes to look at her, "Black hair, red suit, has a big 'R' on his chest. Does he sound familiar?"

If Cassie had looked her friend in the eye, she would have noticed that Batgirl had changed out of her uniform. Exchanging her bat-encrusted suit for one of a different nature. A black turtleneck covered with a grey blazer and pants. Her long red hair pulled into a low ponytail, "What did he do now?"

Cassie did crane her head to look at her friend, but she only had one eye open, "He talked to me."

"He's not known for doing that. What do you think? Android? Evil doppelganger?"

Cassie blew her bangs away from her sweaty forehead, "He doesn't get to do that! He can't disappear for weeks without a word and then act like everything's fine. Like he didn't do anything wrong, when he knows he did!"

"Cassie, if I don't know what he did, I'm certain he doesn't."

The blonde had to take a moment to compose herself, "Before the league left, Robin and I were friends. I'm not the easiest person to deal with, but I never questioned our friendship."

The older girl took a step closer to her, "And now you do?"

Cassie wrapped her arms around herself, the hallway had suddenly felt ten times smaller. She cast her eyes down at the light brown floor, answering the last question with a quick nod.

"All friendships have ups and downs. If you have an issue with him, you need to talk to him about it."

"Batgirl, it's not that- He's not that easy to talk to." She had never been so sure of a fact before.

The older girl breathed in deeply, pushing some of her hair's flyaways off of her face. Cassie waited for her to give her some sage advice, but she made no effort in doing so. For the first time, Cassie saw that her friend had no idea what to tell her. So she settled on something else, "You know when we're not on missions you can call me Barbara."

"I know," Cassie stated. Barbara had been kind enough to let her in somewhat by revealing her first name to Cass a few weeks back. The surname was still off limits, but she could cope with that. Just knowing that small but powerful tidbit of information felt like a chunk of the Iron Curtain had gone down. There wasn't just a nameless being behind the cowl, there was a living, breathing person.

The idea thrilled Cassie. Since Barbara had told her part of her secret identity, it opened the possibility of other bat clan members revealing their id's in the future. A distant future, but one nonetheless.

She just had to have the patience to wait for it.

"If you're open to the idea," Barbara said, ripping Cassie out of her thoughts, "And since it's almost 5, I don't think it'll count as a sleepover. But if you want, we can go to my room and have a sleep in."

"Are you serious?"

Barbara shrugged, "Why not? We can eat ice cream, watch a movie, you can keep talking about Robin if you need to."

Barbara's comment made Cassie's face go beet red, "I'd rather just face-plant into the bed. Can we do it in my room? My legs are asleep and I don't think I can walk or fly to your room."

A chuckle erupted from Barbara, "Whatever you want."

She helped Cassie limp into her room, holding her feet up as the blonde crashed onto the foot of her bed. Cassie wobbled her tired feet, hoping her blue tennis shoes would fall off from the movement. When they didn't Barbara was there peeling them off and setting them neatly onto the floor.

The redhead tiptoed out of the room, so as not to disturb Cassie who was already out cold. Her finger lingered on the light switch, "Good night, Cass."

And the room plunged into black.
