So this chapter is a bit of a doozy. Due to the length of the episode, I'm not going to be able to individually answer each of your amazing comments, but thank you to everyone that voted and gave suggestions they are all very much appreciated! However, I can tell you that the overall consensus is that people want: a smallish reaction from Honor and Colin, a bigger one from Lorelai, and a very dramatic one from Finn.

Just a quick reply to some of the other queries/comments:

anime07, December Jeffries2, BookloverAlive, and Sarah: I'm glad you guys liked Jess's introduction, hopefully you will all enjoy how his friendship with the main lot develops throughout the story.

Andrea2811: While I have a lot of things planned for Jess, he won't be messing with our favourite couple, only friendship. I hadn't heard the Queen idea before so I'll have a think, but the pub was definitely going to become involved. Also thank you for your lovely comment about my writing it honestly made my day!

StaccatoVelvet: I'm glad you liked Logan and Jess's talk, and to answer your question, yes he did steal the money.

To answer one of the guest reviews, we haven't seen the end of Dean.

Please keep reviewing, as it is brilliant to hear from all of you and I love reading your ideas on where you think the story might go. Also a big shout out to RoryHuntzberger who as always has been amazing through the whole process.

Right, so I hope you enjoy this very long chapter! P.S. I own no GG content.

Season 2 Episode 6

Rory had only gone to her grandparents' house to collect a book that her grandfather had recommended. He had told her that she would find it in his office, but when the current maid greets her, she hears her grandmother's voice drifting in from outside. Rory thinks about how it would be rude to not go and say hello. So before grabbing the book, she starts making her way towards the noise.

As she nears the back door, her presence is noticed by the women in attendance and Rory can see that one of the ladies sitting around the table is none other than Shira Huntzberger. Her grandmother introduces her to all her friends and each of them comment about her likeness to Lorelai. Rory stands there slightly awkwardly as she's not sure what she's meant to do, as they are talking about her as if she wasn't there.

Once the praises about her appearances die down, Shira then pipes up, "Rory dear, how sweet of you to drop by to see your grandparents. I sometimes wish my kids would do the same, they always seem to be busy at the moment."

While Shira had said the comment proudly, in that sort of way that sounds like 'look at how much they have going for them', Rory doesn't miss the blonde's wistful tone. This forces her to look down guiltily as she had only just had a conversation with Logan about how little he has talked to his parents as of late. She believes that it has to do with how Mitchum had recently screamed down the phone to him, but it would seem that her husband's actions meant Shira was also receiving the silent treatment.

Not wanting to dwell on the matter, the youngest Gilmore changes the subject by telling her grandmother why she's here, and after Emily directs her to where she could find the book, the brunette then leaves the ladies to the rest of their tea.

Once the young girl has left, the women on the patio all start gushing about how wonderful Rory is. That is all the women but one, as the female Huntzberger just sips her tea in silence watching the rest of them fawn over Emily.

However, when one of the ladies asks the older Gilmore how old Rory is, and another inquires about the young Gilmore's coming out, Shira's interest is suddenly piqued. It was no secret that Logan had made sure to avoid any cotillions or debutante balls at whatever cost, but the older Huntzberger also knows that if Rory was to attend one of these events, there was no way her son wouldn't be the one to escort her.

Therefore, when the ladies are trying to convince Emily to present Rory at the Daughters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Shira is quick to agree. "Oh, Emily it would be perfect. Not only would Rory look absolutely stunning. There's also no way that anyone but Logan would be able to escort her. The two of them will make such a fantastic couple!"

One of the other ladies jumps on the bandwagon and gushes, "I had completely forgotten how close your son is to the youngest Gilmore. Shira, you're absolutely right, if Logan and Rory go together they will definitely be the talk of the evening!" At the woman's easy dismissal at what a hit the two kids would be, Emily is enthralled by the whole prospect, and so they all turn eagerly to the doorway when Rory comes back holding her book.

The next thing Rory knew, she was being dragged onto the patio and then made to try on her mother's old debutante dress. The youngest Gilmore had left the house with Shira reassuring her that she would let her son know about the ball, which meant that the only thing Rory needed to do was inform her mother.

While Lorelai had been sceptical at first and had also desperately wanted to call her mother to cancel the whole thing, Rory was able to talk her into the whole event. The raven-haired woman had just had a productive phone call with Christopher about him coming to the ball when a thought enters her mind. She turns to her daughter, who had made her way into the living room halfway through her conversation with Chris, "Did you say that Shira was going to be the one to tell Logan?"

Rory, who is still busily looking through the different pamphlets her grandmother gave her on the sofa, replies absentmindedly, "Uh yeah, why?"

Lorelai snorts at the very obvious flaw in the plan, one that her daughter has failed to notice. "Hmmm I don't know," she begins sarcastically, "Seeing as Logan has an even bigger aversion to these kinds of events than me, which is a feat in itself, I would have thought that you would have been the one to tell him."

Rory looks over at her mother with wide eyes as the situation suddenly dawns on her, but that doesn't stop Lorelai from talking while her daughter hastily looks around the room for the phone. "I still remember last year when he rearranged all of the business trips Mitchum had planned for him just so they would clash with the biggest events" the older Gilmore recalls nostalgically, watching as Rory scrambles for the device. "I mean that required him rescheduling over twenty different businessmen over the course of a certain number of days just so he would be excused out of all of those social obligations." As the younger Gilmore punches in the young Huntzberger's number, Lorelai joyfully says, "I'm pretty sure I slow clapped him for a good half an hour after he told me, I was so proud!"

At the end of her little reminiscence, Rory looks at her mother unimpressed. "Are you done?" she questions exasperated. Lorelai never gets to answer her, even though she had a witty reply available, as it would seem that Logan has picked up the phone. "Hey Lo!" Rory greets in a bit too excited a voice, she shares a glance with her mother while she cringes.

However, she's then confused as to why she's met with an equally forced enthusiastic tone. "Ace!" Logan greets, she can practically hear the fake smile that he must have painted on his face right now. "You know I was waiting for you to call me" he tells her expectantly.

Rory furrows her brow at his odd opening remarks, "Um, okay." At the same time that she replies to him, the two Gilmores hear the doorbell ring. Lorelai says that she has it, while Rory directs her attention back to the phone. "Sorry someone seems to be at the door" the brunette tells him, before asking, "So why were you expecting me to call?"

"Maybe so you can explain why the fuck my mother seems to believe I'm partaking in a debutante ball!" As Rory hears him say this down the phone, she also realises that there is a slight echo to his words and it takes her a second to register that it is because she can hear his actual voice.

Moments later her mother calls out, "Ror, your future potential husband's here!" The young Gilmore rolls her eyes at Lorelai's tactlessness as she doesn't care for the weird title she has given her boyfriend. Rory knows that her mother finds it funny to tease her about her feelings for the blonde, as Lorelai still believes that her daughter is too scared to tell him. The older Gilmore is unaware of the change in their relationship and so Rory just has to put up with her humor.

Seconds later the young Gilmore watches as the other two join her in the living room, she becomes a bit nervous when Logan strides in, and the whole situation is made worse by her mother trailing in after him looking very amused. While the boy in front of her doesn't appear happy, Rory is also glad to note that he doesn't seem too mad, which means that she might be able to talk her way out of this one.

As Logan stares at her daughter, Lorelai takes a seat on the sofa, completely invested in what is going on. The blonde's slightly agitated frame makes the older Gilmore wish she had popcorn or something as she knows he's seconds from exploding into some sort of rant.

He laughs darkly, as the two women look at him expectantly. It must be obvious that he's a little ticked off, even if he is overplaying his reaction. "For years I have gotten away with getting out of doing these events. But Ace, somehow you buckle me after one conversation with my mother!" He snorts at the irony. It would seem that he was finally paying the price of being in a relationship. However, Logan then reasons that he would still be going to this thing even if he and Rory weren't together, regardless of whether or not they were together he wouldn't let anyone else take his Ace.

Rory rolls her eyes at his dramatic accusation. She then replies, "I never agreed for you to go. That was all Shira, I'm just doing it for Grandma. So if you don't want to come with me, I'm sure I can find someone else to be my escort. Maybe Finn's available..." As she trails off she pretends to ponder her possibilities.

Lorelai wants to applaud her daughter for how she is handling this situation, but instead she chooses to wear a smug smile while watching Logan try to think of a response. "Like hell I'm letting Finn take you," he eventually growls out, "Obviously I'm going to come with you. I just would have liked the choice"

The younger Gilmore raises a cynical brow, "Wow, you really know how to make a girl feel special. Have you ever considered that with all this attitude I don't actually want you to be my escort?"

It's now Logan's turn to roll his eyes as he flops down onto the sofa in between the two Gilmore women. He pats Rory's thigh before telling her with a serious face, "You might pretend that you don't want me, but at the end of the day, you're stuck with me as your companion. Sorry to tell you this Ace, but that's just how the society world works." The pair share a knowing smile as they are both aware of how true that statement is, whereas Lorelai chuckles at the confidence that Logan always seems to possess.

"Alright" the older Gilmore says after a beat, "Your acceptance of this whole situation has become very boring. So I'm going to go fetch us some snacks and refreshments, otherwise I don't think I'll be able to get through all this debutante business. Is there anything you two want?" Lorelai asks the two kids.

"Nah anything will do Lor, thanks." Logan tells her earnestly and Rory hums in agreement as her mother gets up and makes her way to the kitchen.

Once Lorelai's gone, Logan turns to Rory and quietly asks with a laugh, "So you thought a ball would be the best way to hide our relationship?" Seeing why he might be sceptical, the young Gilmore attempts an explanation, "I wasn't trying to throw us in at the deep end. It was more because Mom and I caught Grandpa and Grandma arguing the other day, and this whole coming out to society thing seemed to make Grandma happy, so I thought that it would be a nice thing to do."

Logan realises that his teasing had made Rory a bit more self-conscious than he would have liked, so he tries to calm her down, "Ace it's fine, don't worry I'm only joking. Do you seriously think that I would pass up on an opportunity to show you off and act like an actual couple without anyone else becoming suspicious?" She giggles at his remark and they share another meaningful look.

"You know, this could be fun." Rory agrees with him, she looks towards the kitchen before whispering, "I mean we can spend the evening dancing and flirting, just being together without anyone questioning it."

Logan smiles while nodding his head, "Exactly!" He also looks towards the kitchen as he shuffles closer to his girlfriend, before leaning in so that their conversation is a bit more intimate. "We can also get away with other things" he says suggestively, amused by Rory's innocent expression of confusion.

Rory looks at him questioningly, worried about the excited look in his eyes. "What do you mean by that?" she inquires curiously.

The blonde makes sure that she's looking at him when he answers. "Well," he runs his fingers slowly down her arm, before entwining their hands together. "We can get away with small touches, such as holding hands" he tells her pointedly, before moving himself even closer as he tucks her hair behind her ear. "As well as partaking in little interactions, like this one" he then stops talking as he places a small kiss just behind her ear replacing his hand. He quickly glances towards the doorway before whispering in her ear, his voice has taken on a much huskier tone, "I mean depending on who we are dealing with, we could even take it a step further…" He trails off as he tries going in for a kiss, but Rory stops him before he gets that far.

"Logan!" she hisses under her breath, very aware that her mother could walk in any second. "Not only should we not be doing this right now!" she scolds him, "But we also shouldn't be taking it anywhere near that far at the ball. I would have thought that you would know that the society lot can't keep their mouths shut about something like this."

While Rory was hoping that her boyfriend would be understanding about her concerns, she's a bit annoyed when he laughs at her instead. "Okay, Ace relax" he tries to reassure her through his laughter. "First of all, we are totally fine when it comes to your mother. It will most certainly be a few more minutes before she comes back in with whatever monstrosity she wants us to eat." He gives her a knowing look and is pleased to see that Rory can't deny that Lorelai will probably do just that. He then says, "Second of all, I would never put you into any situation where you felt uncomfortable and so I wouldn't try to do that in public. But can you blame a guy for wanting to kiss his girlfriend because she looks absolutely stunning this evening and she's just told him that he gets to actually act as her boyfriend for one night in the near future!" Logan smugly looks at his significant other, delighted to see that his comment has made her blush.

Happy with their small discussion about the ball, Rory then starts to ask Logan about how Yale is going. While the young Huntzberger finds it easy to tell his girlfriend about how the schooling element of his college career is panning out, he's still struggling on how to tell her about some of the social aspects of the whole experience, i.e. his impending initiation into the Life and Death Brigade.

Logan loves Rory and he wants nothing more than to be able to tell her, but seeing as the whole society has a lot of ambiguity as well as a high-risk factor, he's still trying to find the best words to communicate it all to her. He's therefore glad that this is the moment that Lorelai comes back in with what appears to be very sickly looking sundaes. The desserts create a distraction that diverts the conversation away from his school life, meaning that Logan has a little more time before he needs to tell Rory about what is going on.

Over the course of the week, the preparation for the ball increases significantly, as both Shira and Emily want to be extremely involved and want to make sure that Logan and Rory are prepared. The week also brought about the arrival of Christopher, something that overjoyed Rory and Lorelai, and interested everyone else, as they were able to finally meet the man.

Due to Shira's controllingness about the whole event, Logan and Rory currently find themselves in Miss Patty's dance studio going over the choreography for the night and also touching up on their skills. While the older Huntzberger would have never chosen this establishment, she hadn't specified to her son where he had to learn the dance. So Logan got some pleasure out of the fact that he and Rory could practice this part of the ball in peace, as there was no way his mother would step foot in Stars Hollow.

Even though they were a bit rusty, the pair actually seemed to be getting along really well with the sequence that they were required to learn. This may be due to the fact that when they were younger both Logan and Rory attended ballroom dance lessons. The young Gilmore would have never gone, but Shira insisted that her son had it as a skill due to all the events that he would be going to when he was older. Not wanting to go alone, Logan had dragged Rory with him to all the classes, and seeing how he actually went to the lessons if the young Gilmore was present, Shira didn't mind footing the bill for the two of them. This meant that they both had some sort of coordination, but also that they found it easy picking up the steps for the dance. It is why both Lorelai and Chris are impressed at how far they have gotten when the two of them interrupt their practice with coffee.

Seeing her parents approaching, Rory stops in the middle of the sequence, causing Logan to almost bump into her. Luckily he was able to stop himself just in time, but in doing so, he had to grab a hold of Rory to steady himself. Before he can ask what made her stop, Rory is already enthusiastically greeting her mom and dad.

"Hey kiddo, looking pretty good in here" Christopher comments cheerfully, "Great job Patty!" the man compliments the redhead, who waves off his flirting bashfully.

"Yeah not as good as Fred and Ginger, but it sure is getting there" Lorelai provides almost critically, before snorting, "I would be such a good pageant Mom!"

Logan chuckles as Rory rolls her eyes. "I don't think anyone wants that" the young Gilmore sasses to her mother making Lorelai gasp before she starts arguing with her daughter.

As the two women exchange blows, the young Huntzberger feels eyes on him. When he looks up he's confused to see that Chris is staring at him and Rory. However, he then realises that he had never let go of his daughter after nearly toppling into her. He reasons that to her father, their close proximity would probably seem a bit inappropriate. This causes Logan to take a step back from the young brunette, as he doesn't want to arouse suspicion and also wants to appease Christopher.

Their little standoff is interrupted when Lorelai exclaims in mock outrage, "And to think we brought you coffee as a reward for all your hard work! My daughter is just so ungrateful!"

While Rory definitely perks up at the announcement of her favourite beverage, it's actually another voice that inquires excitedly, "Coffee?"

This is followed by another voice mumbling, "Thank God, we can finally have a break!"

They all turn to find another blonde and brunette couple, but this one is made up of Colin and Steph. The reason why they were there was that when word got around that Rory and Logan would be going to the Daughters of the Daughters of the American Revolution debutante ball, Steph had taken it upon herself to sign the two of them up as well. While Rory hadn't seen the other girl since a brief encounter over summer, she always loved hanging out with Steph, so any excuse to get together was encouraged.

However, Steph had still provided reasons as to why she was doing this with Rory, probably so that Colin was more likely to agree. She had said that due to Rory never partaking in society events like this one, that she would need a wing woman for the whole process.

The young Gilmore had been touched that the blonde had wanted to do this, as it was no secret that the young Vanderbilt tried to avoid these types of occasions as much as possible. In the past, she had said that it had something to do with finding the other girls petty and a tad boring due to the things that they found important. Her participation meant Rory wouldn't have to suffer them alone.

Colin on the other hand was not as thrilled about the matter. The only reason he wasn't voicing it was because Logan would probably kill him if he ruined it for Rory, instead he was just left to grumble about the whole thing. At the end of the day the young McCrea might pretend to be annoyed, but even he could admit that it was nice to see the smiles on both of the girls' faces.

Lorelai watches amused as the young McCrea plods over and readily accepts a cup. It would seem that the dance lessons had really sucked the joy out of Colin. As Lorelai's attention was on the grumpy brunette, she had missed that Chris's focus was on the other boy in the corner of the room.

Finn had taken up residence on one of the beanbags that are scattered around the studio. This wouldn't have been so strange if he didn't have a whole laptop-notepad situation going on. The boy seemed to scribble something down intensely, causing Christopher to question what was going on.

"What's he doing over there?" the older man asks the kids.

Logan follows the guy's eye line, "Who, Finn?" he says rhetorically before giving some sort of answer, "Absolutely no idea."

Unlike the rest of them, the Australian's parents weren't making him take part in the ball as they didn't really buy into the whole concept. However, not wanting to miss out on the free entertainment that the night was sure to provide, Finn was going to accompany Lorelai to the event. This works out well for the raven-haired Gilmore, as Christopher will be busy with his fatherly duties. This meant that Finn didn't have to learn any dance routine and so he was safe to do anything he wanted while the rest of them practiced the sequence.

Rory giggles at her father's incredulous look at her boyfriend's response. "Finn can be a bit eccentric at times. We usually just let him get on with whatever he's doing" she explains, before adding, "Not that long ago he asked me for interesting places in Europe. I told him that Santorini seems pretty cool as it has those white houses with blue roofs. Very picturesque. He seemed to love that response"

Liking the topic of the conversation, Lorelai then pipes in. "Ooooh, oooh, oooh, what about Giethoorn!" she exclaims eagerly.

The rest of them stare at her as if she's gone insane. Even Finn has looked up from his laptop just to give her a confused look. "Giethoorn?" Rory then repeats after no one else says anything.

"Yeah, it's known as the Venice of the Netherlands" Lorelai informs them proudly, "Like there's no roads or anything, you can only get around the village by bike or boat!"

"Right…" the young Gilmore says slowly to her mother, "I think Finn would probably want places that have some sort of nightlife" they look over to see him nodding avidly about her assumption. Rory then turns back to Lorelai, "So while Giethoorn does sound very cool, especially with the whole environmental factor, I don't think it's quite what he's looking for."

The older Gilmore pouts as she nods her head in understanding, she's a bit disappointed that her suggestion wasn't what was wanted. However, seconds later she perks back up again. "Alright my lovelies, I think we've taken up enough of your time. Before we go, remember Lo that Honor's currently on her way and she's excited to go over all the prep tonight. So you have that wonderful conversation to look forward to!" she grins evilly when her comment is met with a low groan from the blonde. Lorelai then starts making her way out of the studio, grabbing her drink on the way. "Toodles" she calls back to the rest of them as she's leaving.

Chris follows her as he also tells them all goodbye, but when he retrieves his beverage he flirtatiously says to the redhead, "Goodbye Patty" causing her to giggle and playfully push him on the shoulder.

"Oh stop" Patty replies while blushing. The little exchange doesn't go unnoticed by Finn, who then dramatically gasps and says, "Oi Hayden, get away from my woman!" This causes everyone to laugh as Christopher puts his hands up in surrender. He then makes his way out of the building chuckling at the group that his daughter surrounds herself with, leaving them to continue practicing their routine.

That evening, Honor finally gets to meet Christopher for the first time and had given Lorelai an impressed look at the handsome man that was before her. The female Huntzberger had then spent the next couple of hours teasing her brother about what he was required to do for the event. However, she had also given Rory some good advice about the dos and don'ts that she had learned over the years, which the brunette had found very useful.

Chris loved getting to know the two kids and thought it was great to see the easy way that they interacted with the two Gilmores. He felt a lot better about the whole Rory-Logan sharing a room and about their close relationship in general. Once he talked to the boy for more than a couple of seconds, he realised that he may have overreacted the first time that he had met the youngest Huntzberger.

Therefore both the Gilmores and Christopher were sad to see the Huntzbergers leave that night. Shira had demanded the two of them to stay at the mansion that evening so that she could make sure Logan got to the event on time. While her controlling nature would normally be deemed necessary, the blonde boy was planning to be Lorelai's ride to the occasion and so he was actually planning to be on time or dare he say early for once.

As they were saying their goodbyes Logan thought about how much planning had been involved in such a short amount of time, he therefore thought that it was looking to be an interesting night.

On the day of the ball, Honor had said to Rory that it was better to get ready at the event, but even she agreed that most of the girls went far too early. The pair had ended up getting there only a couple of hours before the evening was due to start, and the boys would be coming later with Lorelai as there was no way they could wait out that many hours in one of the other rooms.

Even though the woman in charge of all the girls was less than impressed by Rory showing up late, it would seem Steph had had the good thought to save her a seat in the changing room. The blonde Vanderbilt looked so relieved to see them, as she was stuck talking to one of the other girls when they arrived. Once they'd settled down, the three of them start chatting away as Honor gets to work on Rory's hair and make-up.

When the last of Steph's rollers are put in, allowing her to relax for a bit, she turns to the other two saying, "So you'll never guess what some of the other girls were saying before you guys got here..."

Honor always loves a bit of gossip so she just has to ask, "Ooooh what?" She's currently pulling Rory's hair back into a bun, which requires some force to make it perfect. The young Huntzberger is just about to spray some hairspray on when Steph carries on talking.

"It was really odd as they were saying that Logan has been completely MIA from the dating scene." At her announcement, Rory jolts her head in surprise, whereas Honor accidentally pushes down on the hairspray causing it to get in the young Gilmore's eye.

Rory makes a small noise of protest as the product stings, causing Honor to hastily find something to help calm down the irritation. After they have applied a cool towel on the area, Steph carries on with the little bit of information that she has gathered. "Yeah so it then got me thinking and I realised the last time I saw or even heard about him going on a date was months ago. Like before summer, which is so strange. Even before that point, he hadn't really been going on many dates" she then turns to the duo, "Do you two have any idea what's going on?"

Due to the instance that had just occurred, Honor had been far more focused on Rory than on Steph. The blonde couldn't understand why Rory reacted so quickly to Steph's news. She would have thought that the girl would just shrug off her brother's antics like she normally did, but instead she was behaving like she knew something. Her suspicions deepen when Rory goes to answer Steph, "Maybe he was stressed about being forced to go to Yale, meaning he wanted to sort all that out without having to think about going on dates?" It is obvious to Honor that Rory is lying, but the excuse seems to work on Steph.

Wanting to push the young Gilmore a bit more, Honor asks further, "Did Logan tell you that?"

The female Huntzberger is smug to see the brief look of panic run over Rory's face. It is clear to see that she didn't think Honor would start asking her questions as well. However, the young Gilmore is quick to school her emotions and so she tries to appear nonchalant, "No I'm just guessing. I do feel bad, but with everything going on with Mom and the wedding, Logan and I haven't had too much time to talk. Hopefully, that will change soon now that we've both settled back into school."

While it was a very good lie and a valid excuse, Honor is not convinced. She narrows her eyes at the brunette, trying to figure out what is going on meaning she's happy when Steph says, "Well he better figure it out soon, as there are a lot of disappointed girls attending Yale at the moment."

Honor has to hastily move her hands away from Rory's hair when the young Gilmore looks quickly over at the other blonde. "What do you mean by that?" Rory inquires, her interest apparent.

Steph giggles at the girl's prying, "Oh come on Ror, you must have heard about the line!"

It's the older blonde that actually questions Steph in the end, "What line?" Honor was also unaware of what the girl was talking about.

The young Vanderbilt looks between the two women, but both appear confused about what she's going on about, causing her to sigh. This is an odd thing that she's going to have to explain to the guy's sister and best friend. "Okay, so it kind of existed before he joined Yale, which is why I thought you guys would have known. But basically due to Logan having so much promise as the Huntzberger heir, as well as him being 'charming and ridiculously hot'" they all rolls their eyes as Steph does an impression of the other girls, "There's a group of girls that have lined themselves up to be with him, and they were all expecting him to be willing when he joined Yale. However, it would seem that Logan has been inactive as of late."

Rory is shocked, to say the least. Of course she knew that her boyfriend had dated around, I mean fourteen years of friendship meant that she was privy to a lot of information that she didn't even want to know. But to think that girls would see him as some kind of carnival ride had really freaked her out. She's not sure how to process the information.

Honor can see that Steph's revelation has made Rory uncomfortable and so she doesn't say any more on the matter. She's also a bit weirded out by what she just learnt, while she knows that her brother used to get around this just made him sound like some kind of possession. Honor also doesn't try to push Rory any further with her questioning, as she doesn't think she'll get any more out of the young Gilmore. The female Huntzberger makes a mental note to grill her brother about it later, Logan had always been the weaker of the two when it comes to extracting information. They therefore move on from the conversation and start talking about lighter topics.

However, the subject seems to come back around fairly quickly. The older blonde had thought that she would have to wait to find out what was going on from her brother, but it seemed that Rory had other plans. Not even ten minutes after their little talk, the brunette was excusing herself from the chair, claiming that she needed the bathroom. Honor would have thought nothing of it if it wasn't for the fact that she knows the boys would have got here by now, and because of the slightly frantic look on Rory's face. She waits a few minutes to not arouse suspicion before she tells Steph a different excuse about not being able to find something and she's then following the other girl.

Meanwhile, Rory was currently striding down the corridors wondering how she can talk to Logan privately without having to go into the boys changing room. It would seem luck is on her side as she bumps into Finn just outside the room.

"Love, is everything alright?" the Australian asks the brunette, as she seems slightly perturbed.

"Um, yeah" Rory answers a bit flustered, "Is there any chance you can get Logan for me?" She requests while bending her neck to look towards the doorway of the room that the boys were using.

Finn can see that something isn't right so he nods slowly. He then pokes his head back through the door. "Huntz!" he calls out to the blonde. When he gets the boy's attention he then says, "Get your butt over here, you have a visitor." Logan looks at the Australian in confusion, but before he can get an answer out of the tall brunette, Finn's head is already gone. Meaning that the only choice he has is to follow.

The young Morgan looks back at Rory and happily announces, "Your prince is on his way." The young Gilmore lets out a giggle at the Australian's unconventional methods, and Finn is just happy to see that she seems a little less agitated. "Alright Love, I'm off to save your mother so I'll see you in a bit! Don't get too upset when you see that Huntz doesn't look anywhere near as handsome as me" he gives her a wink before making his way down to the main room causing Rory to laugh.

This is how Logan finds her. She's currently watching Finn strut away making her completely unaware of his presence. This gives him a moment to appreciate how great she looks even in a white fluffy ball gown. Knowing that she must have come for a reason, the blonde then tries to get her attention. "Ace, is everything alright?" He can't help but grin when his question seems to startle her.

Rory quickly swivels around and is met with a very amused looking blonde, "Lo, Hi!" She gives him an awkward little wave as she's not sure what to do with her hands. Rory then carries on talking but she's a bit unsure of herself, "Uh...yeah everything is okay I guess"

Not liking her uncertainty, Logan moves towards his girlfriend, he's concerned about what has got her so anxious. "Rory, what's going on?" he reaches out to touch her but becomes even more worried when she shies away and self-consciously looks around the corridor.

"Is there somewhere else that we can talk?" she pleads to Logan as she wraps her arms around herself, she's only just become aware that she's in a ridiculous white gown.

Frowning out the state that she's in, Logan readily agrees and he is soon finding an empty room just down the corridor for them to talk in. Both of them are unaware that Honor is watching a little bit further down the hallway.

Once they make it into the room, Honor rushes over to the door and is able to catch it, leaving a small gap. She's lucky, as her brother didn't pay attention to the door after he pushed it shut. Honor knows that this is an evasion of their privacy, but she loves both of them and she's concerned by the way Rory is behaving.

Unknowing about their eavesdropper, Logan then says bluntly, "Okay Ace, you are really starting to scare me. What the hell is going on?"

"Did you know about the line?" she blurts out quickly, not able to contain it any longer. She's adopted his habit of pacing the room to try and calm down her nerves.

Logan looks at her in bewilderment, "What line?' he asks, completely confused, especially seeing as she can't seem to keep still.

Rory sighs, stopping in her movement, she realises that she must appear deranged. She then approaches him cautiously, as she's not sure if he will even be aware of what the other girls have arranged. "Steph just informed me that there is a whole little fan base that is disappointed that you are currently not going out on dates while you're at Yale. From what she says, it seems that they have a whole line in place for who gets to be with you first-" Rory pauses in her explanation, as she can see from his eyes widening that Logan was unaware of the line's existence. "Okay, so you didn't know about it then?" she tries to confirm.

Logan scoffs at the question, "Uh, no. This is the first I'm hearing about. What do they think I am, some kind of ride or something?" he demands hotly, he's annoyed that these girls have just assumed that he'd be ready and willing.

Hearing his remark Rory then exclaims, "That's exactly what I thought! I mean it's like line up and have a go on the Huntzberger heir. You'll be in for a great time!"

At her comment, Logan's anger softens completely. He realises why Rory was so freaked out before. It couldn't have been fun for her when Steph was telling them about this. The blonde would have assumed that she's only his friend and so wouldn't have held back on any of the information. This makes him bridge the last of the gap between them, pulling her into his arms and staring down into her mesmerizing eyes. "Oh Ace," he begins tenderly, "I'm sorry that you had to find out like that. I can assure you that while a line might exist, there's only one person I'm worried about." He says this while walking her over to one of the tables distributed in the room.

Rory snorts at his corniness, "And who might that be?" she asks innocently as she tries not to fall over as he walks her backward. Logan makes a wounded noise as he says, "Ror, you kill me" as he places a more secure arm around her back so that he'll catch her if she was to fall.

She chuckles at his dramatics while they meet Logan's intended destination, his movements force her to jump up onto the table in a seated position. "I'm sorry for causing concern" Rory looks down guiltily as she apologises.

Logan brings up his hand so that it rests under her chin, he then uses one of his fingers to tip her head up to look at him. "You know I think I can forgive you" he teases, before leaning down to kiss her. This one is short but sweet and when he pulls away he tells her quietly, "I love you."

Rory gives him a small smile as she replies back, "I love you too."

As her brother goes in for another kiss, Honor determines that she's seen enough. She's completely baffled as to when these two had actually managed to get over themselves and tell each other their feelings. It's apparent from that one interaction that it didn't just occur, and so while Honor is slipping away from the scene she wonders how long they have been keeping this a secret.

Meanwhile, as Honor walks away from the pair, Christopher has made his way up to the rooms to check on Rory and he also wants to try and get to know the boys that Lorelai and his daughter are always raving about.

He starts making his way past the doors to the other rooms but stops when he hears some shuffling and the sound of two people talking. It would seem that whoever was messing about in one of the different rooms didn't realise that there was more than one entrance from another corridor. Looking through the half-open door, he can just about make out the back of some blonde-haired boy, and from the legs wrapped around his waist, he can only assume that he is in there with one of the debutante girls. He would have left them to it, but then the couple seems to pull away slightly and from the looks of it the mystery girl tells the boy that they should start heading back.

When they go to move Christopher is able to get a better look at their faces. While he had been curious to see who would be bending the rules, he now wishes that he hadn't stuck around. That is clearly his daughter, and when the boy turns a bit more he can see that it is Logan. Chris's jaw tightens as the two make their way out the other door. He feels foolish that he had actually started to believe he had overanalyzed Rory and Logan's relationship. It would seem that his gut feeling was right to begin with, and he also realises that with the secrecy that those two just displayed, their relationship was obviously not public yet. He shakes his head in utter disbelief, as he slowly starts moving towards where the fathers were meant to be waiting, no longer in the mood to see any of the kids.

At the same time, Logan had just gone his separate way to Rory, and while the initial part of their little rendezvous was less than ideal, he was not disappointed by the other part. He's still smiling to himself when he comes across Christopher in the hallway. Seeing the man, he subconsciously tries to correct his hair, as it dawns on him what he was getting up to with the guy's daughter not even minutes ago.

"Christopher, hey! Were you coming up to check on Ace or something?" Logan questions him, trying to hide any nervousness. While he knows that he's being a bit paranoid because of his previous engagement, he feels like the older man's response is rather cold.

"Something like that" Christopher answers bluntly. He's not able to get the image of the boy practically climbing on top of Rory out of his mind.

Baffled by the way the guy is behaving, Logan has to ask, "Chris, is everything alright?"

"I don't know, you tell me Logan" the man replies in a very clipped tone, "I mean I'm assuming you must be feeling pretty good with yourself right now, seeing as you seemed to be devouring my daughter not that long ago." While Christopher is pissed off about the situation, he gets some joy at the look of horror that spreads over the young Huntzberger's face, the boy pales significantly.

"Rory..and...I?" Logan can just about choke out, as the weight of the older man's words hit him full force.

Christopher adjusts his posture so that he is stood up straighter and crosses his arms as he stares down the blonde. "Is this really how you're going to play it?" the Hayden heir accuses, before hissing "I would have thought that Rory meant more to you than that. I mean I would have thought that you would at least try to defend your actions!"

Even though the brunette might be mad, he realises that he might have been a bit too overprotective with that comment. He watches as Logan's attitude quickly shifts. Gone is the boy that looks like a deer caught in headlights, and in his place is an equally pissed off looking blonde.

Logan squares up to Christopher, before growling out "You have no idea how much Rory means to me." While the older man should be annoyed that the kid is being disrespectful, he's actually relieved to see that Logan isn't just messing around with his daughter. His annoyance seems to simmer down, but he then left shocked at the boy's next words, "I would have thought that me being in love with her was obvious."

Christopher may have been surprised by Logan openly admitting that, but he is able to recover quickly and even chuckles at the boy's remark about his own feelings. Seeing that there was still some tension between the pair, Chris takes a step back before saying, "Kid, I knew that the first time I met you. I just didn't think that you guys had figured it out yet." The brunette offers the blonde a smile to show that his previous anger has faded, he's much happier about the situation, as he now understands the seriousness of Logan's feelings.

The young Huntzberger is relieved to see that his girlfriend's dad doesn't seem to be as livid, so he lets himself calm down as well, before jokily replying, "Yeah, I think just about everyone else knew before us."

The pair laugh at the silliness of the situation before Christopher claps the younger man on the back telling him sincerely, "I know that my initial reaction in no way shows this, but I know how much you care about Rory and I think that's all a father can ask for when judging their daughter's boyfriend. Well that and also still have the power to scare the shit out of them when needed." As he watches Logan chuckle at his comment, he then puts on a much more serious face, "I don't need to have the whole you hurt her I hurt you talk, right?"

Logan looks at the man, amused that he would even ask that question, "Trust me, not only will Colin and Finn have my hide if I was to do anything to Rory, I assume that I would need to change my identity and move to another country due to Lorelai wanting my head. Not to mention that Honor, my own sister, would probably castrate me. This will all be on top of the self-deprecation that I will experience for the rest of my life if anything was to happen. So I would say that you're safe not giving me that talk, but if you wanted to be included in the list then be my guest."

Chris is happy to see that Logan's carefree nature seems to have returned. However, he knows that while the boy seems breezy about the whole thing, the blonde takes Rory's happiness very seriously and so he offers him a smile in return. He's happy that the two of them seem to be on the same page, but there is still one other thing bothering Christopher. He therefore asks, "So I'm assuming from the little scene in the other room, that this whole thing is a secret?"

The younger man snorts at the question. "I honestly think Rory would kill me right now if she was to find out that this is how you learned about our relationship." Logan answers truthfully, causing Christopher to laugh when thinking about how that would probably be Rory's reaction. The blonde then continues, "Don't get me wrong, we aren't ashamed of being together or anything. It's more that we want to focus on ourselves before involving anyone else. Our loved ones can be a bit full-on sometimes."

The brunette nods his head in understanding, he doesn't have to look further than the level of involvement that Lorelai has in Rory's everyday life to realise why the two of them are keeping it a secret. He therefore leaves on this parting note. "Word of advice" he can see that the blonde's interest is peaked, "If you want to keep this thing a secret for a little while longer, might I suggest that you become more aware of your surroundings, i.e. that the rooms you guys are planning to use don't have a second entrance. It would really help an old man out."

Logan throws the Hayden heir his infamous smirk as he replies, "I'll keep that in mind!"

While the two guys hashed it out, it would seem that Rory wasn't safe from her own confrontation. When she goes to make her way back to her seat, Honor comes out of nowhere and starts dragging her towards one of the quieter corners of the room.

Once the older girl lets go of her, Rory turns to the blonde and demands, "Honor what the hell?"

Ignoring her, Honor instead asks, "What did I just see going on between you and my brother?" She watches as Rory's confusion turns into alarm, but before the girl starts freaking out Honor starts squealing as she jumps up and down in joy. "Oh my God, finally!" the older girl shouts and Rory shushes her, trying not to attract any more attention.

Seeing that Honor has quietened down, the young Gilmore then confirms, "Okay yes, Logan and I are together, as you so sneakily found out. But-" she points her finger warningly at the blonde, "you cannot tell your brother that I told you. No one is meant to know!"

"Rory-" Honor tries to persuade her, but Rory interrupts.

"No Honor, I kept Josh a secret from him for this long. So you owe me." The blonde pouts, but she knows the young Gilmore has a point. It has been a godsend not to have Logan intervening with her love life. She therefore grumbles out a "Fine" as she watches Rory smile at her response.

Rory then smugly says, "I'm glad that we came to this agreement" causing Honor to roll her eyes as she was basically forced into it. The younger girl then looks around the busy room, "We should probably continue getting ready seeing as all the other girls are stressing out at the moment."

Honor laughs at her assessment of everyone else in the room, before linking arms with the younger girl and happily walking back to Steph, who's probably wishing for them to reappear. As they go, the female Huntzberger leans towards Rory and teases, "I wonder when I'll be able to start calling you sis?" She has to look away from the young girl's face so that she doesn't laugh. The look of horror that Rory's face currently holds is priceless. Overall the Huntzberger is just ecstatic that two of her favourite people are together, all she can think is that it was about time.

The blonde keeps walking towards where Steph is, leaving a stunned Rory in her wake. It takes the young Gilmore a second to realise that the other girl was joking and so the brunette is then chasing after the Huntzberger exclaiming, "Honor, that's not funny!" The two girls' laughter is the last thing to be heard.

The small group, consisting of the two Gilmores, the two Huntzbergers, one Hayden, one Morgan, one McCrea, and one Vanderbilt, slowly make their way down the streets of Stars Hollow, each of them glad that the evening is finally over.

As they make their way to Luke's diner, the Three Stooges are going over some of the more dramatic or strange things that occurred throughout the night. As they list off a couple, like that Libby girl drunkenly collapsing in the middle of the ballroom and Shira's persistent questions towards Christopher centered around his family, Lorelai is happy to note that none of them have brought up her parents' very public spat. Something that she is very grateful for, as it was a hard thing to miss and so there is no way that these guys wouldn't be aware that it had happened.

While Lorelai might have been concerned about the focus on her parents, she hadn't missed the odd looks that Chris had thrown both Rory and Logan throughout the evening. Shira and Emily had certainly gotten what they wanted in terms of how the two of them were perceived this evening. The pair were the talk of high society, but apart from many of the guests asking whether or not the two of them were seeing each other, she didn't think that they would garner this much attention from Christopher.

Lorelai can admit that the pair really did make a nice picture when they danced together. Sometimes she is shocked by how much chemistry exists between two people who are unaware of the other's feelings, but Chris's glances had started to make the older Gilmore suspicious as they were almost too knowing.

Therefore when the older man says he's going to bow out of Luke's, Lorelai tells Rory that she will meet the rest of them there as she follows Christopher. Her plan was going to be to ask him about why he was behaving so weirdly around Logan and Rory, but one thing led to another resulting in her kissing him to which he then tells her about Sherry. Shocked by the revelation, everything else flies out of Lorelai's head and so she never gets to ask Chris about the other two. The older Gilmore's still trying to process everything she just learned, meaning she's only able to stand in the center of town as she watches him retreat back to the Crap Shack.

Shaking herself out of her stupor she then makes her way over to Luke's and is uplifted to see a bunch of society kids in ball gowns and tuxedos scarfing down burgers and fries as if it is an everyday occurrence. As she enters the diner she scolds her daughter for not acting like a lady, causing Logan to snort when Rory lifts her pinkies up in retaliation while she continues eating her burger happily.

Once the older Gilmore has settled into her chair and Luke places a burger in front of her, the rest of them continue talking about the night. As usual, this results in the boys starting to tease one another about certain things that they had done. Just as Colin is imitating how Finn had tried to pick up a redhead who was obviously much more into her actual escort, Rory notices that another person had made their way into the diner and nudges her mother as she looks at the new arrival.

The two Gilmores share a bemused look about the change in t-shirt, which catches Logan's attention, so he follows their eye line and is greeted with the sight of Jess. He's about to get up out of his seat when he hears Lorelai mumble to Rory, "Well it's better than that weird Metallica shirt from this morning." It's at that moment that Logan notices the flannel shirt and smirks at the boy's choice of clothing, he then starts making his way over to the dark-haired boy.

As he walks towards where Jess is cleaning one of the tables, Logan calls out to the diner owner, "I didn't realise that you suddenly had a uniform, Luke!" Hearing the teasing tone in Logan's tone, the older man looks up from where he was sorting out the salt shakers and sees the direction that the blonde was heading in.

"What the hell are you wearing?" Luke barks out at Jess, which gets everyone else's attention and causes the dark-haired boy to grin evilly. The meddlesome kid was glad that he had only worn the shirt in the end. He had originally planned to wear one of Luke's baseball caps, but he then reasoned that that was taking it too far.

"I don't understand what the problem is" Jess says innocently to his uncle, "You said that you wanted me to change my shirt this morning, so I thought that I would conform to something more of your taste."

Logan chuckles at the boy's tenacity when it comes to pushing Luke's buttons, he's got to admit Jess's sarcastic nature was amusing.

While the diner owner should probably be more annoyed by the stunt that his nephew has pulled, seeing that the blonde finds it entertaining he lets it slide. Luke would never admit it, as he wouldn't want to boost Logan's ego, but he thinks that the young Huntzberger's friendship would be a good influence on Jess. In the end he only says, "I know what you're trying to do and it's not going to work." Luke then carries on sorting out the saltshakers as he pretends to ignore the two boys.

Seeing that Luke has lost interest in them, Logan turns to the other boy and says in greeting, "Jess, how's it going?"

The younger boy gives him a once-over before replying, "I mean I thought my evening was going pretty good, but apparently it hasn't been as exciting as yours" it's obvious that he is commenting on Logan's current outfit.

"Trust me you didn't miss out on much. Just a bunch of rich people making a fool of themselves really." Jess chuckles at the blonde's summarisation of the night. It's strange, but there is something about Logan's candor that makes him respect the guy. This is unusual as the dark-haired boy tries to avoid these high society types with a vengeance. It's the reason why he's so sceptical when the blonde says that he should come meet his friends.

Jess shuffles slowly behind Logan while the young Huntzberger confidently addresses the group. "Alright guys, I want you to meet Jess, Luke's nephew." The dark-haired boy is met with a variety of greetings and then the blonde is introducing him to the individuals of the group. When he reaches Rory and Lorelai, Logan doesn't bother telling him who they are. Instead, the two women just offer him a greeting, and the younger of the two even offers Jess the chair that Logan previously resided in.

Sending a glance towards the young Huntzberger, Jess is then hesitantly lowering himself into the seat as Logan just waves off his concern. He's happy to be beside someone that he is familiar with, but he only relaxes when Logan pulls up another chair on the other side of Rory and wraps his arm around the girl's shoulder. This brings Jess some relief, as he doesn't want the rest of them getting the wrong idea about his intentions. While he thinks that he and Rory definitely have a lot in common, he can see the amount of love shared between the two people sitting next to him and so he wouldn't want to mess with that. Logan has been trying to be inclusive, and while they had a bit of a rocky start, Jess can begrudgingly admit that he's an alright guy.

However, Jess's next issue is that he feels completely underdressed surrounded by people in ball gowns and tuxedos, which makes him unsure about what he's meant to do in the situation. So when one Honor picks up where they left off, he's glad that the rest of them start talking again.

Seeing that he hasn't really contributed to the conversation, Jess then turns to Rory and asks, "So should I be intimidated by the collective worth that these guys hold?" He casts a quick look around the group and sees that Colin and Finn seem to be looking at him critically. He assumes their judgmental looks are because they are protective of their friends. If he was in their shoes he'd probably also be a bit sceptical as to why Logan and Rory seem to be so accepting of him.

His question is able to make the young Gilmore giggle, but it is actually Lorelai that responds. "Don't worry kid. Regardless of how rich they are, they still humble themselves by hanging out with us poor people" she teases the rest of them as they all roll their eyes at her mocking.

Rory then pipes in jokily, "Yeah this isn't some kind of Pretty Women moment where they try to make you into something you're not. Unless that was what you were counting on. In that case, I might have to tell you some very sad news. I know it's disappointing but they aren't going to just send you out on an all-expenses-paid shopping spree."

"Well if they aren't going to pay for a shopping spree what's the point then?" Jess asks rhetorically as everyone laughs at their little exchange.

That is everyone but Finn, as the Australian gasps in outrage, "How dare you guys use Julia Roberts' work in vain, that woman is a godsend!"

"You're only being dramatic because Julia Roberts is a redhead." Colin says, exasperated by the other boy's eccentric ways. This then causes the two of them to bicker meaning that the girls all try to mediate so that it doesn't become too nasty.

During their argument, Logan leans over the back of Rory's chair and tells Jess almost apologetically, "I guess I should say welcome to the group" causing the younger boy to laugh.

Unbeknownst to them, someone else was observing their conversation.

Dean stands across the street from Luke's and can clearly see everything that's going on with the group. He therefore doesn't miss the close proximity between Logan and Rory or the small touches that the two exchange. However, the tall boy is more concerned about how close his ex-girlfriend already seems to be with the newcomer Jess. He clenches his jaw at the thought of them together, the new guy shouldn't be getting involved with Rory. Little does he know that he was reading into the whole thing wrong, as his assumptions couldn't be further from the truth.

However, unfortunately for all of them, it's hard to clear up someone's assumptions when there is no communication involved.
