Pokémon Crimson Gold

Chapter 7: The wildest encounter

Ethan and chikorita followed the tracks of the Mareep for the past six hours. Ethan was determined on catching that Mareep, but differently this time.

"Ugh, it feels like the longer we walk, the harder it is to follow these tracks Ethan said, still with not even an ounce of food in his system." Ethan sighed, as he continued the search.

"Chika Chika!" Chikorita said, tired.

It was then when Ethan's Pokédex began flashing through his pocket, much to Ethan and Chikorita's surprise.

Ethan grabbed his Pokédex. "Woah, the Pokédex is has a tracking feature, it's tracking that Mareep!" Ethan excitedly exclaimed. He then suddenly went back to reality. "So that means I wasted the past six hours for no reason."

"Chikorita, Chikorita..." Chikorita said, in an annoyed tone almost.

Ethan and Chikorita followed the Pokédex's signal, it was said Mareep was a hundred feet north from them, so that's where they went.

"There it is!" Ethan said, noticing the Mareep hiding under a tree trunk. When it noticed Ethan, it began to strike up with static,

"Long way from home, aren't you?" Ethan said. He dropped his Pokédex and his backpack and emptied himself of all his Pokéballs. Surprising the Mareep.

"I know Mareep aren't commonly found here, you guys are normally found in great plains, not forest. You must be lost. I'm guessing you don't have a mom or dad. I know and I'm sorry for it." Ethan said, taking off his hat.

Mareep slowly approached Ethan, Chikorita formed a battle-ready stance, but Ethan told her to relax.

"Listen, Mareep. I like you, a lot, and I want you to come with me on a journey, but if you don't want to. I'll leave you alone." Ethan said.

Mareep just stood still, it was probably unclear of what to do, it dropped its static, and began to simmer down a bit.

Ethan smiled. "If you want to come with me, feel free to, if not, that's okay as well."

Mareep turned back and ran away. Much to the surprise of Ethan and Chikorita.

"Well, that's that then. I'll leave Mareep alone, let's move on Chikorita." Ethan said, putting back his backpack after collecting all the Pokéballs. It was then when Ethan noticed the egg had fallen out from his backpack. The egg started rolling down from the hill.

"Holy crap! I-I made a huge mistake!" Ethan said, jumping down the hill to follow it, before something bad happened. Chikorita followed him instantly.

The egg ran down the hill at a fast rate. It hit broken tree branches and litter along the way down, Ethan was worrying if the fall didn't break it, then maybe that would.

The egg began tossing and turning as it feel to the ground, Ethan sled down the hill, and at some point, before he could even feel it, fell face first into a large tree, instantly knocking him out.

...Ethan, Ethan! Ethan!... He heard in his rest.

Ethan woke up to see Chikorita, who was laying besides him trying to wake him up.

He wiped his forehead, only to find him bleeding from his forehead to his chin.

"Chika Chika!" Chikorita said, all relieved.

Ethan couldn't help himself, he started to cry, on top of not eating anything for nearly two days, and that crash, and the fact he also lost Mr. Pokémon's egg, he was broken.

Chikorita wiped his single tear with her leaf, cheering up Ethan.

"Thanks Chikorita, I needed that." Ethan said, patting her on the head.

Ethan got up. "Alright, this is no time for tears." He said, wiping the last of his tears. "I need to find that egg, where could it have gotten off to?"

After a bit of wandering, Ethan decided it be best if he and Chikorita split up, to save time. He checked everywhere but to no avail.

It had been thirty minutes. When he was wandering around in search of the egg, he heard Chikorita begin calling out to him, from not too far away thankfully.

Ethan caught up to Chikorita in no time, Chikorita was alone in an open field, face to face with a wild, growling Ursaring. Right under Ursaring was the egg, which the Ursaring was most definitely going to snack on.

Chikorita formed a battle-ready stance. She was prepared to go down in battle if it meant taking out the Ursaring and saving the egg.

Ursaring began to roar, its saliva flew everywhere. It would be enough to startle a Metapod out of its shell.

Ethan realized the situation was hopeless, Chikorita had no chance of defeating Ursaring in battle. Their chance of surviving was slim to none, that was it, this would be the end of Ethan and Chikorita's adventure.

Ethan, although distressed smiled, and turned around his hat, to hide his eyes.

"Chikorita, don't worry, I'm not going to force you to battle that Ursaring." He said, smiling.

Chikorita had a look of confusion on her face.

"Get out of here, and please, don't ever forget me." He said, with a look of seriousness on his face.

Chikorita began nudging on Ethan's leg. She knew what Ethan was going to do. And she couldn't let him, she then bit at his pant leg.

Ethan felt it and kneeled to pet Chikorita on her head. "Thank you... for everything. You'll always be my girl."

Chikorita started to cry, there wasn't a lot of time now, the Ursaring began to go feral, he would soon pounce.

"Now go, please, don't make this any harder than it has to be." Ethan said, flipping his hat back.

"Hey you stupid beast!" Ethan yelled at the Ursaring. "You're going to give me back that egg, or I'm going to have to take it, by force!"

The Ursaring laughed and roared at Ethan, his spit landing all over Ethan's face. Ethan however showed no fear, he had a look of content he had never had before in his life.

Ursaring got ready to slash its meaty claws at Ethan. He stood on all fours and prepared to snap him in half.

Ethan began to duck and roll over dodging the attack somehow and grabbed hold of the egg. He turned to face the wild Ursaring, who was more pissed off now than ever.

Ethan threw a Pokéball, he knew he couldn't catch it, but even just a few seconds would do him just fine, allowing him to run with the saved egg. The Ursaring however was released from the Pokéball sooner than Ethan would have liked and went in for another slash.

So this is it, Ethan thought.

Before the Ursaring could finish Ethan off with his slash, Ursaring was electrocuted, causing him to fall to the floor. Much to Ethan's surprise.

"What the hell!" Ethan yelled in shock.

Directly on top of the Ursaring, was the same Mareep from earlier, it was clearly on Ethan's side.

"Chika Chika!" Chikorita said in relief as her trainer was saved.

"Mareep! Get out of here! It's a freaking Ursaring, if it hits you even once it's over!" Ethan yelled, still in shock.

"Reep, Reep!" Mareep said. Not willing to run away.

Ursaring got up, more angered than hurt. Its roar alone, was enough to knock off Mareep. It swiftly turned around, about to maul the poor Mareep to death.

Before Ursaring could bite and finish off the Mareep, it stopped moving, it was paralyzed. It could only barely move.

"Mareep's static! That's good! That's really good!" Ethan said, beginning to gain confidence in his chance of getting out of here with all the Pokémon safe.

Chikorita, in instinct, jumped in front of Ethan, unleashing her Poison Powder leaving Ursaring not only paralyzed, but poisoned. The beast fell to its knees. Mareep ran up and approached Ethan.

"Alright you two, that's enough for now. We have to retreat, immediately!" Ethan yelled, understanding of the situation.

"Chikorita!" "Mareep, Mareep!" the two Pokémon cried as they left the scene.

Ethan before he followed behind them, turned to face the damaged Ursaring, who could hardly move. Ethan grabbed a Cheri berry, and threw it towards the wild Pokémon, much to the Ursaring's surprise. "Eat it if you can." He said, and then went back and followed the two Pokémon out of there, egg in arms.

A good while of running later, they took a break, knowing they were in the clear from the Ursaring.

Ethan, Chikorita, and Mareep stopped, panting heavily, as they must have run away from the Ursaring for the past forty minutes with no rest.

Ethan sat beside a tree; unable to take even another step. He still held on to the egg, making sure it wouldn't get lost ever again.

Mareep walked up to Ethan, it had something in its mouth.

"That's the Pokéball I used on Ursaring, you held on to it all this time. But what good is it now?" Ethan asked.

Mareep smiled and handed Ethan the ball, it began to wag its tail, and Ethan realized what Mareep was saying. He turned to Chikorita, who smiled and nodded.

"Okay Mareep! You're now a new member of our team!" Ethan said joyfully as he pet it behind its ears. Ethan raised the Pokéball, and threw it at the Mareep, albeit gently, and just like that Mareep was caught.

"Chika Chikorita!" Chikorita began to say playfully as she tried to make her trainer happy. Ethan smiled, but then raised Chikorita's pokéball from his bag, making her return.

He slowly got up, walking over to a river stream ahead of him. He took notice of himself in his reflection, bleeding, beaten up, with cuts and scratches everywhere. He began to once again tear up. The trauma of almost dying at the hand of that Ursaring was too much for him, a thirteen-year-old kid, to bear.

Ethan began crying and screaming loudly, snot coming from his nose. It felt loud enough for the whole world to hear him. He fell to his knees and put his face to the dirt as he continued to cry...

Oops, authors note here, shoutout to a dude named the willyrex who pointed out I accidentally posted chapter 8 twice for this chapter included. I'm fixing it here thanks to him.
