Chapter 7: Do I know you

When I opened my eyes, I found that I was in the infirmary. An elderly lady was arranging some bottles on the side.

"You're finally up."

I remembered I was following Present Mic when someone called out a warning. Then the world faded. I guess I got hit.

Present Mic came into the room rubbing the back of his head. "Um…sorry…. you came to thank me for saving you and instead got injured."

I moved my arms and my legs and got up from the hospital bed. "You may leave. I already took care of you." The elderly lady said.

"Thanks! Um I'll just be going." I turned to Present Mic. He gestured to me to follow him as he held the door open. Walking into the hallway, I noticed there were no lockers. Guess the school here has a different system for students to arrange their belongings.

"I took care of the items you brought us. Its super generous." Present Mic was trying to make conversation as I just looked around sometimes passing classrooms seeing students busy taking notes. I finally arrived to a door that said "Office." I was let in and saw the cakes all laid out with paper plates and silverware nearby. Some teachers were busy cutting slices or eating a piece while they're on break before their next class. He did a rather good job setting it up. "Thanks for bringing my favorite tea too. Chamomile tea helps out with my throat due to my quirk."

"I concur. Thank you for the wonderful variety of tea." A voice spoke near me. I had to look around unable to see who was talking. "This Darjeeling tea is so refreshing." He continued. I finally looked down to see a mouse talking. This is a new one. I've seen humans with some animalistic qualities. But I've never seen a full-on mouse talk. Am I in a kid's movie?

"Thank you. We aim to have only the best teas around." I put on my customer handling smile noticing that I wasn't wincing even though I know I got hit by a soccer ball earlier.

"How wonderful. Do you cater?" The mouse asked.

"Iris meet the principal Nezu." Present Mic interjected. Principal? Showtime!

"We at the Tea Shop believe the comfort of wonderful sandwiches, desserts, and beverages helps the body and the soul! We have a brick-and-mortar location just a few blocks from here. We also do deliveries, cater parties, and major events." I took out a business card and bent to hand to the furry principal. "We aim to please with delightful treats and we want to support our local community by providing a discount of 10% for local events." Principal Nezu looked over the card while sipping his tea.

"Thank you so much for all of this. I do apologize for what has occurred outside. Our students are so enthusiastic when they play."

"Um its ok. I should have paid attention to my surroundings. What a lovely school you have here. Very impressive."

"Thank you." The school bell suddenly went off announcing that it was time for classes.

"We'll bring your cart back to you tonight." Present Mic stated as he was picking up his notes for class. "I have to go to class. Would you like me to walk you to the entrance?"

"Oh. Okay! Thank you!" "I can walk with her to the entrance!" A voice called behind me. I turned and saw a lady about 5 ft 4 with green long cut hair and a grey business suit standing behind me. She pushed her eyeglasses up. "You have classes, but I am on break."

Present Mic looked caught between a rock and a hard place. Might as well throw him a bone. I did want to just go home and nap after all. "Sure!" I turned to this lady. "Thank you Mrs…" "You may call me Ivory." I waved bye to Principal Nezu and Present Mic and followed the green lady named Ivory out of the office. The walk through the school was filled of silence.

"Excuse me. But where's the restrooms?" I had to straighten myself up. I can't have Yuji thinking I was attacked though technically that soccer ball was vicious. Ivory lead me to the lady's room. I went inside to check myself in the mirror. Somehow, I didn't have a bruise on my face. The only signs of my falling were on my dress with some dirt smudges. The bathroom was empty except for Ivory and me. I took a paper towel and some soap and dabbed on some spots on my skirt hoping to not stain the fabric.

Ivory walked to the other mirror and straightened her jacket then moved to straighten her hair.

"You don't belong here." She stated her tone moving from friendly to emotionless, keeping her eyes on her reflection on the mirror. How do you continue a conversation from that? I glanced at her not sure I understood what she was talking about. Maybe she's just an awkward type of person? But woman's intuition is telling me that this is one person to not hang out with alone.

"You're right. I don't belong in school. It's a once in a lifetime experience for me." I stated.

Ivory's gaze moved to look at me in the mirror as she put her hair in a bun.

"No. People like you never belong here." K bad feeling continuing. I can't tell if she meant I don't belong since I'm quirkless or she knows I'm not the original person. Maybe the former owner of this body did something to her. I really should start reading those diaries even if the first one was boring.

"Do you know me?"

"Don't play the fake ignorance act. It won't work here." She turned walking towards me. Unfortunately for Ivory, I was a few inches taller than her. And, I have a lot of patience but if the line is crossed it won't be pretty for her. Luckily for her, I'm trying to see this famous event at U.A. and have to keep a good standing with the principal so I had to stay in customer service mode. I smiled widely.

"Well. I don't know what happened, but I do apologize for it. I'm not who I used to be." Was I a bully or something? You are now on my radar, lady. "Stay away from here!" She hissed.

A student opened the door causing Ivory to change her demeanor to a demurer lady.

"Hi!" the student called out while going to a stall. Saved by a student. Ivory suddenly had a gentle smile on her face. "Oh my I don't think that dirt will come out of your skirt." She stated acting as if the weird conversation we had didn't happen. "How unfortunately!" she added though her eyes said differently. The bell rang for the changing of class. "Thanks for helping me. I think I can find my way out."

I stated walking past her into the crowded hallway. Thank goodness for the exit signs along the walls. I wasn't going to wait around and have any more weird conversations. I guess I had a productive day. Started opening the opportunity for a business deal. Got an unexpected surprise with a soccer fall. Fought for my life going uphill. And now having a potential enemy who knows me but I don't know them.

Once I made it outside, I started my journey back to the Tea Shop and my apartment above it making sure to not be in the path of any flying balls. Thank goodness its easier going downhill instead of climbing up. I needed a nap while I absorbed all the events for today. What happened to boring days? Can I just get one of those?
