Detective Conan Hattori Shots

"Ah MeGuire. Just calling to inform you of something." Heizo was still in the hospital room when he made the call, sitting in the chair closest to the door to keep an eye out for anymore would be attackers while his son had fallen back asleep in another chair close to the bed and Shizuka was still holding Conan who had gone back under the siren call of his pain meds.

Heizo noticed his wife glancing up at him and the small smile she gave him. She already knew what he was doing. Of course she would. His wife was just as smart if not smarter than Heizo and their son and could easily be one of the best detectives on the force if she had chosen to join it. Besides though he was expressionless and stone faced to everyone else, she could read him like an open book.

"My wife and I are going to be adopting a little boy but we're sharing custody of him with Mouri-san and his daughter since the boy is already established-" Heizo cut off as he listened to MeGuire groan a bit and promptly turned on the speaker phone so that his wife could hear. If he said something bad and was later found with a nasty hit to the head…well…at least he probably wouldn't realize why Shizuka had flown to Beika to kick his ass.

"You're adopting Conan?" MeGuire asked making Heizo nod but then remember that the other officer couldn't see him and instead confirmed it with a simple 'ah'.

"Great. Sato-kun put that down as another tally for Conan-kun being adopted!" MeGuire called to someone else and Heizo rose an eyebrow at this.

"A lot of people want to adopt him then?" Heizo asked and MeGuire snorted.

"Most of my division, my wife, and a couple of other people who met him over the course of his stay with the Mouri's not all of whom are on the good side of the law. God he's even listed as the heir apparent of a couple of the big name criminals who had a lot of influence and wealth behind them like Shindler with that whole Cocoon incident and Moriya with that whole bombing of his own buildings thing." MeGuire said and Shizuka and Heizo exchanged surprised looks with each other at hearing about this.

Of course they had heard about the Cocoon incident, they would have been there if Heizo hadn't gotten called to an important case that their son stumbled into. And Moriya bombing his own buildings for the sake of 'perfection' had made national news considering how widely known of an architect he had been. Of course the Cocoon incident had made national, and even international, news as well.

But to think they could have met Conan as early as then and taken him in as their own so much sooner, after all Heiji had talked on the phone with Conan after the incident and had ranted for a while about how Conan had gone into the game to solve a murder and almost hadn't made it back out.

"Ah but I'm already filling the forms. I'm just letting you know that he'll be a person of interest and priority target for anyone after my family." Heizo said he was already filling out the forms in his mind while also using his personal cell to text and ask his friend Ginshiro to pick him up the forms to fill them out in person. He got a thumbs up emoji and a few other happy emojis that meant that Kazuha-chan had gotten hold of the phone and seen the message, he really should talk to Ginshiro about securing his phone better. Especially since Ginshiro had a habit of stealing Heizo's personal phone in retaliation which wasn't a good thing if his wife decided to send him a private message, or worse a picture.

Ginshiro still wouldn't look Heizo or Shizuka in the eyes after the last time that happened, and it was two months ago. Hell considering the picture Shizuka had sent to Heizo's phone that day, Ginshiro couldn't even look at her without blushing but she just acted like it never happened. Ginshiro should have known better, there had been a reason that Heizo had asked his wife not to make private phone calls to him while he was at work less than a year after they married.

"Oh that's new. Most of my division want to adopt him but either don't want to do the paperwork, or better yet know that since a good many of them are unmarried and would spend a lot of time at work that they'd be rejected if they did file the paperwork." MeGuire said and it was unspoken that most of knew they would be rejected and didn't want to be torn up about it and unable to do their jobs.

"Well there's not that issue with me and Shizuka. I'm just warning you so you can keep an eye out for any criminals that have grudges against me going after him since he'll be in Beika a lot since he's already settled there and has friends in school there." Heizo said making MeGuire give an affirmative noise.

"Well congrats on your future adoption of a little murder magnet and detective rolled into one. We'll keep an even closer eye on him than normal…which says a lot considering we have a rotating schedule on who tries to keep up with the six year old during cases…and that we have a code for him being near the crime scene." MeGuire said and Shizuka gave a small but emotion filled sigh that Heizo agreed with.

Of course the little one that they were going to adopt was going to be a mini-detective, they had already expected that….

But of course he would end up being a murder magnet as well.

It was bad that Heizo couldn't even pretend to be surprised by that.
