Two weeks later, the stitches finally came out.
Iago would have some scars on his belly, but not when his feathers were there. No one would notice them.
"Genie, now that my stitches are out, how about taking the shortcut and just giving me a new bout of feathers?" Iago asked innocently.
"Since you asked nicely, sure. Why not?" Genie replied. Then he zapped some new feathers over Iago's bare belly. Iago was impressed. He didn't want to be like, naked. The bird was satisfied.
Then there was his wing. That took longer to heal itself. He wasn't able to fly and wasn't able to go on adventures. Well, he could, but it wasn't worth getting his wing further injured, so over the weeks when the gang took off on adventures, Iago was left behind to continue healing.
The servant girls took pretty good care of Iago with the splint changes. It was a long month of recovery for the poor bird. Or six weeks.
...
Six weeks later, the wing was declared healed after another x-ray revealed it from the genie's help.
Everyone was thrilled that Iago was healed now. He had had plenty of rest, good food and water, and lots of TLC from his friends too. They had wanted him to get better. He was glad to be better.
Bahshir still hadn't been found, but he would be kept an eye out for to pay for what he had done.
Now that Iago was healed, he was finally allowed to go out on adventures again with the rest of them. And the bird agreed to keep his promise about his stealing to tone down a lot; or even not at all, unless necessary from an enemy. But he still remained a greedy, gold loving parrot. He always would be.
He was totally grateful for all the loving care he had gotten while he was healing. Those injuries were the first time his blood had been drawn. He was stunned and picked on a lot, but nothing ever had drawn his blood like that man had done.
Iago was glad to be back to his normal self, to be able to fly again. His blood supply must have been close to recovered too. Things couldn't get much better, but the guards were also kept an eye on to make sure they weren't going to pull something like that again.
Overall, the gang was at full traveling capacity again. It was up to them to go out and right some wrongs, save people and even animals, and try to create as many new allies as possible. And to stop their enemies once and for all.
The End
Thanks for all reading this story. Sorry it was so short, but I couldn't think of how to continue it. Comments are always welcome, but no flames please.
